2014 Honda Pilot Touring. Vehicle had pull hard right. Brought it in to Mavis Tire. Was told it needed two front struts and an alignment. Picked up vehicle the next day. Vehicle pulled hard right. Took back to facility. Was told it needed two new tires. So I was sold two tires, two struts and a alignment when all it needed was two new tires. I was sold a cheap set of tires that made excessive road noise and steering wheel vibration. Pull was corrected with just the tires but the tires created the road noise. Then I bought two more of the same tires and rotated them. Same condition exhisted. Very dissapointed with the service at Mavis. read more

Had a flat tire at work I inflated it and drove it to this location at around 6pm. I was greeted when came in. There were people waiting my car was brought in at around 6:45 I was told they replaced valve stem and did charge me halfway home. Same issue happened. Went to another mavis in Rahway and said that my valve stem was never changed. Atleast I wasn't charged but could of been stranded or in an accident read more

Mavis Tire is a great place to get your tires done. For the life of me I have no idea why they have bad reviews. I am a terrible driver as far as tires go. It seems if there is a nail within 20 miles it winds up in one of my tires lol. I have custom tires that need to be ordered and I always have a pair waiting in my barn. So I spend a decent amount of time at Mavis. Do you have to make an appointment? Yes. Do you have to have patience? Yes. Is there a lot of turnover at the front desk? Yes. But everyone and I mean everyone there is always courteous, friendly and happy to help! If it is at all possible, get yourself run flat tires. It will save you towing and it will save you time. And it will probably make you a nicer person !! So go to Mavis and be nice to everyone! I promise, Good Karma will come to you! read more

My senior citizen mother found herself with a flat and chose this establishment due to proximity. They showed her the "new" tire they were going to put on the car. She immediately noted the worn down tread and questioned their claims that the tire was "new". They reassured her it was a new tire. One week later the 200 dollar tire was flat in their driveway. Now they have to check the pressure on the tire and inflate it every time they take it out. They charged my mom 10 bucks for a warranty, Ha! My mom spent 3 full hours in Mavis waiting for her tire and noting how everyone who came in with a busted tire and warranty was treated. Warranties are not honored at Mavis. Read the fine print, they will "measure the tread" on your faulty tire and deduct the amount they gauge you used the tire (by their own estimation!) from the amount it costs to get a new tire. They will also keep you waiting there for hours while they do this process. It's not worth it. Cut your losses and run. My parents are going to CostCo to get the tire replaced. This place is a scam, don't go here if you can avoid. read more

They add on products and services that the customer did not authorize. 1) I authorized a replacement of my ignition and confirmed the price. When I picked up my vehicle, the invoice was approximately $100 more than the price they quoted me. It included $89 + tax for windshield wipers which I didn't need and could have replaced myself for a significantly lower price. 2) I brought my vehicle in to top off the refrigerant in my A|C. Without my knowledge or approval they wrote a service order to do an A/C diagnostic and tire alignment. They are padding the bills which is consumer fraud!! read more

I rescheduled the next day and left work early, just to call me 4 hours later, to tell me they couldn't fix my tire because the rim is damaged. I brought the car in for a sound coming from the passenger side front end. I was advised that the inner and outer tie rods on the passenger side needed replacement and it was recommended that I replace both sides. I was also advised that I needed new front and rear brakes since both were "metal on metal". They are not metal on metal. In fact I replaced the rear pads myself less than 10,000 miles ago. I instructed JP to replace only the passenger side tie rods. When the car was ready, the driver side tie rods had been replaced and I was told I would have to replace the passenger side as well in order to do the alignment. I declined. The problem on the passenger side is still there. Trying to upsell a customer this way is just wrong on so many levels. Shame on you. read more

BEWARE: Monitor closely when taking your car here. First took our car here in the Summer of 2018 for a synthetic oil change, and the incorrect amount of oil was put in (5 quarts instead of 7). A day after the oil change, I got a "low oil" warning and had to pay to tow the car back to the Mavis shop. The manager (Andy?) said the technician didn't read the computer correctly and didn't notice we had a V6 model. He gave me a voucher for a "free" oil change on my next visit, and I thought it fair to give them another chance as mistakes happen (even though I did not receive a refund and paid for a tow truck). Fast forward a few months later, and we went back for an oil change and tire rotation. We confirmed that it would be covered with the voucher, and he said tire rotations are included with the oil change we paid for last visit. The manager, Andy, was present and also confirmed it would be taken care of. This time, however, I marked my tires. When I picked up the car (6 hours later), it was nighttime (almost closing time). The receipt noted that they performed the synthetic oil change and tire rotation, so I drove home. When we saw the tires at home (with lights), the tires had NOT MOVED. I called them again, and Andy said "oh sorry, it was a busy day. You can bring it back another day and we will rotate it." Also, I noticed the oil change sticker was only listed at 3000 miles, so I can't confirm whether synthetic oil was actually used. I told Andy that I would call corporate Mavis (bringing the car back another day and taking more time off of work was unacceptable), and he responded with "I don't care, do whatever you want." I called the Mavis corporate number, and spoke with a very nice lady (Sharice). She said the regional manager would call back, but I never received a call. I am now posting online so others know what goes on at this store and the poor approach of the store manager. I'm sure they are doing this to other people's cars when they can't do simple oil changes and tire rotations properly. I wouldn't come here again! Make sure you mark your tires!! read more

These employees treated my wife terribly. They didn't take her seriously (at times completely ignoring that she was standing in front of them) regarding a tire concern and told her they had to change all her tires. All we needed was a plug for one tire, and they tried to say it wasn't possible as all four tires were in terrible shape. A second opinion very easily told us the tires were fine. It's terrible we still live in a society where employees like this will try to take advantage of and dismiss anything someone has to say because they're a woman. read more

I live two blocks from this mavis discount tire location. My tire was completely destroyed and I drove to them to see if they could help me loose. The bolts so that I could change the tire myself. The man told me it would be a 2 hour wait. All I needed was 5 minutes of his time to loosen bolts. He shrugged his shoulders and told me tough luck. They're over priced so I wouldn't have even had them change my tire anyways but to help out a civilian when they're in trouble isn't much to ask for. This might be one of the worst car service establishments ever. I have been there 3 times. The first was for a flat tire repair. I had a flat and brought it there to be plugged. They evaluated the tire and decided it didn't meet their standards for repair and I needed 2 new tires. The AAA person really thought it was repairable so I politely declined and said I would try elsewhere. The manager made a hard sell about how the spare tire wasn't safe to drive on and I really needed to buy those tires now. I explained I only had 7 miles to Goodyear and all local roads. I left and Goodyear repaired the tire and it's been safe and solid for past 3 years. Second trip was to get an oil change. I won a gift certificate for a free oil change. Made a reservation and brought car in. Dropped it off at 8. Gave them the gift certificate. Came back at 5 to lock up the car and it wasn't touched. I was told the 'guy' called in sick. No phone call or anything to let me know. So I left it another night and came back the next day. They said they did the deluxe oil service and couldn't honor the certificate. So they insisted I pay close to $100! The third time I needed to buy a single tire. I did not need it mounted or installed. They refused. They said I could buy and have a single installed or buy a set of 4. Went down the road to a local service station and got the same tire no hassle. The management here is lacking any semblance e of customer support and for a local shop I will pass them by and keep on driving. read more

I'm disappointed in MAVIS on Elizabeth Ave. and Mavis Discount Tire as a whole. To make a long story short, we brought our car in for an alignment and headlight change on 5/5. On 5/6 they decided the alignment couldn't be done at their location so they brought it elsewhere (without our knowledge) and totaled it on the way back to Elizabeth Ave. Our car is totaled: air bags deployed, rear tire smashed in, the works. The Mavis driver was issued a reckless driving summons. The other party was taken by ambulance to the hospital for injuries. It took them two days to even tell us the accident happened. It took them 11 days after that to start the ball rolling on their insurance. Emails, phone calls, and certified mail to corporate went unanswered. At some point corporate instructed their Elizabeth Ave employees not to speak to us. Questions are still unanswered. I'm at a loss! I've never had anything like this happen before. This was a car my teenagers bought from my mother. A shiny Altima in excellent condition with 69-ish thousand miles on it. Heated leather seats, Bose radio, electric sunroof, etc. We expected it to last them a decade. Unfortunately because of its age - the condition doesn't really matter. The insurance offer is lower than what we'd need to replace it with something comparable. So now, after bringing a car in for routine repairs, we have no car and will likely be out a significant amount of money when we purchase its replacement. Wanted to give you my thumbs down review as a heads up. We were loyal customers of theirs till this unfortunate incident. Accidents happen. Thankfully no one was seriously injured. But Mavis's customer service at the management level was disappointing. And although insurance gave us the car's "value", Mavis contributed nothing additional so we could replace the car with at least something comparable. Our family doesn't want a penny more than what it would cost to replace our car with a comparable car (with similar mileage, accident free, newer tires, Bose radio, heated leather seats, V6, electric seats and sunroof, alarm, etc.). Their insurance will only cover the minimum. If Mavis does anything else it will have to be of their own free will. So there you have my review of Mavis's customer service at the corporate level. ‍ This was a very unlucky situation for our family. read more

Purchased tires in November. It was not a great experience, they did not have the vehicle done when they said and I had to go back for the tire balance. Fast forward to April, not five months, the tires are worn out. Went back and they said it was because I did not have the tires balanced, which they did, then they said balances do not last with the bad roads, and also I had work done some where else so they would do nothing about the bad tires. read more

This place used to be called STS tires but was bought out by Mavis recently. I have been coming to this location ever since it opened. Steve who is the main guy has also been working there since it opened and is the man you would want to see if you ever have a car problem. I have been here for multiple oil changes, tires fixes, new tires, struts etc. Each time I go, I get work done faster than promised. I always get charged a good price for the work and if my problem can be fixed with a few tweaks, I do not get charged. It is not just a tire store! They do everything! This place is a prayer answered for every car driver who has been dealing with mechanics. Every mechanic at this place is friendly, knowledgeable and honest. If you live within 15 miles of this place, definitely go here for any car problems. P.s. I have also been to other STS and Mavis place on occasion, and they have been really good as well. read more

Never, Never and I say again never Use them. First I told them I need my Truck by 8am and it was not ready until close to 10. Second they over tighten my lug nuts that they even broken one and was not going to tell me. If I did notice that they lost my hub cap I would not have known. I took my Truck to my normal mechanic and he broken one off as well and told me it was because of over tightening. My Normal mechanic told me about it as soon as I walked in the door. Although they couldn't help me due to the car being under warranty with the dealership, I know they would if they could. I was given a helpful suggestion of what it could be. They mounted the tire in the wrong wheel (I have staggered wheels on my car). Today I dropped off the car at around 9:40am, was told by the guy at the front desk it would take 2hrs so I decided to drop the car and come back. Not hearing from them I called at 2pm and the same guy told me the car would be ready by 5pm. At 4:40pm they call and say .. we couldn't do your car today so either take it back before 5pm or leave it here for it to be fixed Monday. This is just to mount the winter tires into the wheels .. and these guys are the tire experts. A classic bait and switch shop. They performed a wheel alignment without my consent as well as a charge for checking all four tpms. I had a wheel alignment done, front and rear, less than 200 miles ago at another shop and the work was still under warranty. I had a similar experience a couple years back with this shop but against better judgment I decided to give them another chance because I wanted to help a local small business during these tough times.
