I had a very concerning experience at Mavis Tire & Brakes after a recent oil change. On March 14, I brought my car in for a routine oil change. Within two days, my check engine light and oil light came on, and my car began making a rhythmic clanking noise. I immediately stopped driving and had the vehicle towed back to the shop. The tow truck driver even noted there was a pool of oil under my car. When the vehicle was inspected, I was told there was no drain plug on the oil pan, which would explain the oil loss. However, instead of clearly taking responsibility, I was given multiple inconsistent explanations, including claims about engine recalls and poor prior maintenance, neither of which applied to my vehicle. I have documentation showing my previous oil change was only about 2,200 miles prior. I was also told that a regional manager would be coming to inspect the vehicle and that I would be contacted when he arrived. Instead, I received a call around 1:30 PM stating the car was "fixed" and ready for pickup, without ever being notified that the regional manager had actually reviewed the vehicle Although the shop eventually refilled the oil and stated the engine is "fine," I am left with concerns about potential long-term damage due to oil loss, as well as a new noise when using the A/C that was not present before. I will be going to a Hyundai dealership to check if there are any damages. This experience was stressful and disappointing. I expected a routine service, but instead dealt with a potentially serious mechanical issue and inconsistent communication. I strongly recommend others document everything and ask detailed questions when dealing with this location. read more

I had to change the tire and the manager worked with me to find the best price. The techs worked fast and intensively. Hopefully I won't need a new tire again. BEWARE! SCAMMERS. These mechanics have no clue what they are doing. Your vehicle will come back in worse shape than you brought it in. Had my breaks done a month and a half before i went to mercedes for my yearly inspection and maintenance. I figured coming here would save me a couple hundred and time since mercedes was backed up for 2 months for things other than maintenance purposes due to covid catch up work. When i went into mercedes, they said the work wasn't done properly. My wheels started collecting break dust not even 2 month afterwards. I barely drive. And if i drive i only go to the grocery store that is up the street so barely even half a mile. From the look of the amount of break dust collected, you would think i went off roading. All they offer you is coupon to come back to fix problems they created. Why would i trust you and pay you more to fix problems you created?! The regional manager lies and does not care. WARNING!! Don't trust them. Updated complaint: watched real mechanic diagnosis problem and put piece that mavis lost back in my car with my own eyes up close and the engine light is gone. $28 for part and 60 for labor and im good. I feel sorry for anyone going to freeport Mavis. First complaint: They lost part of my Oil Filter housing cover while they were doing an oil change on my car and it started a bunch of engine issues. They also refused to take responsibility for it. The store manager Eric is very unprofessional and makes up random stuff about certain cars, Mercedes Benz , when he knows nothing about high end cars. Eric lied and said he was there for the job on my car, but he forget that he told me he was at physical therapy during that time. He also forgot that I waited for my car. 1) They didn't put enough oil in my car so the oil warning came on so I had to go back to them .2) The engine light came on as soon as I left so I had to go back to them again. 3) They don't have Knowledgeable staff on site and they don't have proper equipment at the store so I had to drive to two different locations to get the engine light reset because according to a female worker who was not a mechanic, " nothing was wrong with my car." 4) Eric put the oil change under a different car of mine which shows a lack of attention to detail and he got mad when i asked him to correct it. He started saying he wasn't a robot and yelling that im nitpicking. I guess putting work done on wrong cars is normal here. 5) Eric is like a ticking time bomb over the phone yelling when he gets frustrated which shows he has no customer service training. He will get mad at you for him and his workers mistakes. I'll definitely see them in small claims court if I find out further damage was done to my vehicle as a result of their work. Stay for away!! Listed pic 1 is missing the $28 housing piece with rings that goes in middle of filter. Pic 2 is the piece i had buy. Serious lack of supervision here. I even went back and asked them to check the trash for the part so i wouldn't have to buy it again, absolutely no accountability there. Female worker at desk doesn't know anything, she could of easily looked up the problem just like wantagh Mavis did and saw that both problems are related to said oil change that they did. No effort and pure laziness. 6)They also got the floor dirty. No communication between the guys working there. All a bunch of kids.. How do you get that wrong? So after another hour of them taking their time, they finally put everything back on. This is the best, most affordable option for tires in the area! Let me build up the scene for you; I was driving around all of Freeport asking for quotes for a new set of tires and a pad change. Quotes were all over the board ranging from $900-1200. I walked in Mavis and was greeted by Corey, and let me tell you the service alone is what got me. Super cool hardworking dude! Then he tells me he can get it done quick and affordably. He wasn't joking they got it done in 2 hours and now I have a GOTO spot for my car needs. I had no choice and had to bring my car in for a brake job. I am currently in the processing of moving here. They offered to do an oil change and I figured might as well get it done with the car up on the lift. I should have known better. Go to drive the car a couple of days later, my oil light comes on. They forgot to add an entire quart of oil. Good thing I caught it quickly and was able to have it fixed by them. The manager Alisha said that they had no idea what happened because another manager was on duty. It seemed fishy, so I called later asking about the manager on the date of my service and the employee told me that there is only one manager, Alisha. Not sure why you would lie when you could just own up to the mistake and smooth it over. I can only imagine what they did with my brakes if they couldn't handle doing a simple oil change. Super busy shop. Brought car in for appointment. Service desk was super helpful helped me pick different tires that were a more reasonable price - only problem was they didn't have in stock and needed to get them from another store- I really didn't have the time to wait around so I took an Uber home- not a big deal as I had to come back that way later to shop for something. My only complaint is they are VERY busy and only have one guy at the desk doing everything - which makes it a bit chaotic. TLDR: Nope. Went here about ten or more days ago because my front drivers side tires air pressure sensor kept going off. There was most def. a leak somewhere. I had anticipated buying two new tires. I dealt with this location almost two years prior when I bought that front passenger tire and it was pleasant and super efficient. I bring my car in and Brian who tells me he is the manager had a bit of trouble describing what was wrong. My car was already off the lift when he got me from the waiting room, and he told me there was a rim problem. I asked what that meant, because I needed it to be fixed and if he could ask the Technician. He obliged and came back saying there was some dry rot on my tire around the rim but they sprayed some stuff on it and it should be fine but I'll need a tire sometime in the future. I have him quote me 2 Perellis with alignment and warranty, he has to special order the kind my car has but gives me a price of 405. Steep but alright. I leave and he says he will call me when they come in. The next day my sensor light comes on again and I have to fill up the tire. Life keeps rolling and I find myself doing this every two days. 10 days or so later I realize I haven't heard back so I call. He says he needs to know the size. I tell him I came in and they were ordered. He finally pulls me up on the computer. Brian says some Perellis came in so they must be my tire. I confirm the price with him over the phone and he says, "yeah sure I'll work it out to that when you come," which did not make me feel confident. I told him I'd come on Thursday because that's their late day. 9/29/16- I come around 3:30 and they remembered my call, Brian and Eric. However Eric asked me what size my tires are... umm the special order ones? I leave my car there and Brian calls me back to let me know my cars ready, maybe 2-3 hours later. I am hit with a 500 bill. I ask him about the quote I received for 405. He told me that they put better tires on my car... that's why it's more expensive. They also charged me 79.99 for a computer alignment... poor communication, and I felt hustled. I work in service and I feel I had false expectations. What is the point of having a reservation system of which a customer picks their desired tire; picks an avail appointment date(2 days later) and receives a confirmation call of appointment day before that I made sure to ask they have the tires in stock(said they checked and yes). Then come in on appointment date to staff claiming they see detailed records of my reservation (tires, car,etc). I will never go to Freeport Mavis again. I was quoted a specific out the door price for replacing two tires from their corporate call center. Milo was the customer service person on the phone. He texted me the price and wrote that it was the out the door price including all fees ( taxes, disposal , state fees). He said it was the out the door price and there was absolutely no other fees to be paid. Milo made me a noon reservation for the job to be done. I showed up at Freeport Mavis. They then gave me a more expensive price. I showed them Milo's text. They did not care and refused to give me the price the call center quoted me in writing. I texted Milo back letting him know the situation, but heard nothing back. I wound up going to Goodyear tire next store. I am glad I didn't pay the extra money at Mavis. Mavis was pulling off a classic bait and switch in which they gave you one price on the phone and another when you come in. First off the managers might seem nice and caring but in reality their lazy and lairs. Sean the manager forced a tire technician to tell me that he did a wheel alignment but in fact he didn't, thank god the tech told me about it but i didn't have the heart to put the manager on blast because the tech was being honest. From the stories i was told by the tech the store is full of scams. They say they do something but they never do and they still charge you for the service. The Assistant manager brandon is extremely rude and lazy, i had a buddy come early in the morning to do breaks waited all day to get the car in. I visited the Freeport Mavis Discount Tire earlier this month and was extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff. I entered and approached the front desk, there was no acknowledgment from the employee (I think it was the manager - in a white button down shirt). I understand that he was attending to a customer that arrived before me, but there was ZERO customer service; no greeting, no good morning I'll be right with you - nothing. I went to get a wheel alignment Tuesday afternoon July 12th and the first attempt was a fail so I had to come back to the shop yesterday to tell them that the wheel alignment was wrong. Another problem is the wait time they make you wait for ridiculous amount of minutes for something that should be a quick job for them and after they did the wheel alignment again my steering wheel pulls to the right instead of it being centered and straight. **Update** I returned to this location because I was informed my vehicle has a staggered fit, therefore, the tire I got put on should of not been put on. It was different from the other three on my car. I called the location explain to them the situation and I was told the tires are in, come right in. When I arrived Eric, the manager already knew my situation and quickly had a resolution for me. The front tire was swapped out for the correct one and I purchased a new tire for the rear. My BMW broke down on a Saturday afternoon while searching for an emergency repair miles from my home. I just so happened to stop here, having never been here before. Needless to say, being caught in a bind with an unfamiliar shop is not the most comforting feeling; particularly, as I had to leave the car in their custody for a diagnosis on Sunday, followed by a repair plan. When I first walked in, I was impressed by Bradley, a store manager. He was exceptionally friendly and receptive to everyone on line, and it was very evident that he's an genuine individual. Long story short, they diagnosed my car and had it ready for pick-up the following Monday. It was fairly complex work and they did an outstanding job. They kept a continuous line of communication to let me know where they were in terms of diagnosis and repair; and most importantly, the fixed the existing problem(s) - they didn't look for potential problems to hike the bill. I wouldn't think twice about coming back here with any type of vehicle. And I must say, Mavis, you have a real winner with your employee Bradley. You don't find many outgoing, reassuring, and genuine people these days in many businesses, particularly tire and garage shops. Thanks a million for fixing my car.
