Kevin is the owner and he is absolutely amazing. Genuine, knowledgeable, funny and doesn't try and rip you off. My family has been using his shop for years and I've recommended tons of friends who have thanked me in the end. He has never steered me wrong and was always honest on what was wrong and whether or not it was worth it to fix. Quick service, everyone's pleasant (I've always dealt with one of the other mechanics, Hector, when Kevin wasn't around. He's great and funny too.) They also have a sweet, friendly dog that hangs out with you while you wait. At one point, had a very old car at the time that ended up having a head gasket leak and to repair it would've cost more than the car was worth. Kevin ended up doing something he had done while in the Marines years ago and rigged it so that it would work long enough to get me home. I cant even put one star ! K s Auto in Mineola is a rip off .! He looks like a real good mechanic. But the customer service and brash bully tactics towards women are not something you appreciate after spending thousands of dollars on your car . I work very hard for my money and this is just a plain injustice! This man should be tarred and feathered in the public square...How would you like to find he cant fix your car, two weeks.. Yes that's right 2 weeks later and you are in a rental at a daily rate. At your own expense to the tune of 300.00 OH it gets better . He towed my car with out asking my permission. To the dealer and with his tow guy who gave me a really bad bill . Not legible very poorly written etc the coat 175.00! Mineola to Glencove ! guess what my insurance has free road side assistance and I have AAA... I would not have paid a dime if given the chance to use my insurance. Then the dealer whopped me over the head for a thousand dollars because he shorted a wire in my car guess what that's why he couldn't fix it . Then his bill was a thousand dollars.... His bill also very vague and not well written out or explained ... Because he knows he is ripping you off he doesn't want to put anything down to incriminate himself. Shame on him Ladies! one day he worked on the car 4 hours the next 6 hours he never really came clean there either. Folks you get what you pay for! I should have gone to the dealer from the get go. He could not fix the car that the bottom line and I paid for his incompetence dearly ! DONT be Dupped as I was ! Kevin wasted my time. Kevin wasn't honest and he was a plain old bully! This review is a long time coming. I came to K back in the summer of 2015 with faulty air conditioning in a car that was over 10 yrs old. I picked this repair service partly for proximity and partly based on the rave reviews I saw here. In hindsight, I wish I had just lived with open windows for the next couple months, as I got a new car in Oct. The owner definitely condescends to female customers, with a lot of "yes, dear," type of language which I find mildly irritating, as well as little anecdotes that make him seem to want to come across as being honest. Over the course of a week or two, my car sat in their garage for at least three full days (possibly four - I brought it in more than once over this repair). K told me not once but twice that his suppliers had "sent the wrong part" after my car sat in their garage all day. I have never experienced anything like that in the many years I have been dealing with repair shops. After verbally agreeing to a $600 repair and thinking I was getting a better (and fair) deal, I wound up being charged over $900. If I had known it would cost that much, I would not have agreed to this work. He explained that it was more complicated than first estimated. Since I don't know a whole lot about the intricate workings of my car's air conditioning system, and cannot prove anything, I coughed up the check without much of an argument. At that time I had other things going on and was sick of them - just wanted my car back. Regrettably in the end, I had mediocre air conditioning at best. It was no where near what it was before the problem started. Also irritating was the fact that they changed my rear license plate holder to one K's Auto and their phone number without my consent. I got rid of it, first thing. The last thing I want to do is advertise for them. read more

Great find for me. Mechanics can be a hard breed to trust, but the smart ones know this and do everything they can to make it a priority to gain the trust of customers. K's has done everything and more to gain mine in short order. Kevin is awesome, as are all the other folks I've dealt with in his shop. He's also efficient, fair and communicative. I've had everything from routine tune ups, oil changes to larger break jobs, etc. He makes all the minor inexpensive tweaks along the way and let's me know if he sees something more serious or costly. I had been at k's auto repair before and had a great experience! My car had its check engine light on and they quickly checked it and gave me honest advice. Two days ago my car started to make some clanking noises, so I thought I could trust k's to take care of it. I called and asked if I could make an appointment and the man on the phone was extremely rude to me. He basically laughed in my face when I asked if I could come in for diagnostics. He told me to come early on the day of the appointment and I told him I had to sit and wait while they checked out my car. I got there at 8:30am, a time that I thought was "early" and the man in the garage said I hope your dropping your car off here because you have 12 others in front of you. Does this man not make appointments? I understand it can be hard especially for diagnostics, but I can't believe that they basically voided an appointment I made days in advance. I won't be returning to K's auto repair and I would advise everyone do the same. read more

I brought my car in and explained that the front driver side tire is losing air. I agreed to leave it for the tire repair. The owner calls me back a few hours later to pick up the car. He charged me to replace the valve on the tire as well as an unauthorized tire rotation. Extremely disappointed and find this behavior unethical. I will not be returning. read more

I brought my car in needing brakes and Kevin told me it would be $280 for rotors and front brakes. I called to see if the car was ready the next day and the guy on the phone said oh its ready and I said okay how much is it and he tells me $360. I asked how and he said Kevin isn't here now call back in 20 mins. I call him back and he says well I rotated your tires since I had the wheels off already and there are other things involved like tax. Being an accountant it is difficult for me to accept that explanation when tax should be $24 so I am not sure how he arrived at $360 HOWEVER HE TELLS me it is a competitive price. I don't care what it is he gave me a price one day and increased it by $80. Very dishonest individual that I WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN!!! read more

I went to Kevin for a simple inspection as required by the DMV and picked up my car hours later, and paid almost $100. WHY? Kevin neglected to contact me for any approval/authorization to do additional work. No phone call, no email, nothing. I was on a very tight budget at the time and wanted only the inspection. His recommendations have proven unnecessary and not accurate (rotors not cut properly when brakes done previously), it wasn't time for the oil change, and the bulb he used to replace the "cheap foreign" blub blew out quickly. On top of that, I notice, weeks later, that he removed my own license plate holder and replaced it with HIS ADVERTISEMENT! I like to know what is being done with my car and Kevin takes unauthorized liberties. I am NOT HAPPY and will not return. read more

I stopped at K's Auto as it was on the way to my workplace, ran up to the desk and asked for change so that I could fill the tire.
