If youre a woman dont go here. My wife went in after i bought a tire online to be put on at 10am. She was there at 10am sharp. They said it would be 1.5 hours so why do they let you make an appointment online? It takes at most about 15 minutes to put on a tire. So that's unprofessional but the bigger problem is the obvious bait and switch. I bought the tire online with very specific tire details to my car's make model and year. Prior to moving to Flemington I went to Mavis in Bridgewater and Greenbrook. 2 locations that I will never return too as they're awful in every way a place can be. Mavis in Flemington is 5 minutes from my house so I figured either 3rd time is a charm and they're all bad OR this location will be different... 4 years and I continue to go because they're friggen Rock Stars in Flemington! Mike and Brandon are just great! I'm ALWAYS treated with such kindness and honesty which is so unheard of in this industry. Factually women are always taken advantage of at mechanic shops because they know we don't work on cars or know too much about them. That has never happened to me at Flemington Mavis they talk to me, they ask questions they honor my appointment time. They're awesome over there! Mavis will upsell you, chop up your car, overcharge, and ghost you. I've only used independent mechanics before, but my dad recommended Mavis, and reviews on Google were encouraging. I brought my family car in for new tires and control arms. Mike, the manager, also recommended new struts and shocks given the mileage. They had some life left, but I drive the car with my wife and 4-month old baby girl, so I wanted to make sure everything was top notch. Mike quoted the job around $2,200. I picked up the car at the end of the day and paid $2,500. I gave them the benefit of the doubt re: cost since overages can happen. After leaving I heard a knocking in the rear suspension that wasn't there before. I looked in the wheel wells and saw the mechanic had cut out part of the liner to unbolt the shocks. I called Mavis a few days later since they were closed for Christmas and they made me come back in, even though I live an hour away. I chose that location since it's close to my parents who we were visiting for the holidays. The mechanic was adamant that cutting the liners was the best option because it saved him time. He thought I should agree and really couldn't comprehend why it's a problem for me and my family. His comments made clear that this wasn't a one-off mistake and he regularly cuts corners to turn around more jobs. Estimates from these places include time to remove the necessary components, so they're trying to pocket the savings. Mike also showed me how the liners have a partial opening at the bottom, as if to suggest that cutting the top was ok since the shock was already partially exposed. The logic makes no sense since GM clearly covered the top of the shock assembly for protection. If accessibility was more important, they would have exposed it. They checked the knocking and couldn't find a problem. Seemed it might have been fixed by shifting something in the trunk, but the sound has come back since then. I'm positive the sound is coming from outside the cabin, probably the wheel well liner since its structural integrity is now compromised. Mike told me to email him my compensation request which I did that day, but I haven't heard back since then (5 days ago) despite several follow-ups. I've been patient and reasonable with Mavis, but their negligence and dishonesty is galling, and I'm furious. I trusted them to do good, honest work, and they really screwed us. Things like tires/suspension are especially important for my family's safety. I clearly said this when I dropped the car off and agreed to the extra work. They responded by cutting up our car, overcharging, and ghosting us. Speaking with them made clear that I can't trust them, so now I need to replace the liners and have all of their work checked over.  Stay away from this Mavis if you value your vehicles, money, and safety. At best, they'll take advantage of you and leave you with a bigger headache than you started with. At worst, they may put you and your loved ones at risk of injury or death. Maybe other locations are better, but I won't take a chance on Mavis again. read more

Mavis Flemington is ALWAYS busy and may not be the fastest, but without question is the FRIENDLIEST!! They've helped me out for a few years now, and though the staff turns over (and I've been sad to seem some of them leave) the crew is always competent, professional, and engaging. I have 3 cars for which I've had to buy oddball tires only available online, and I've taken the wheels & tires to Mavis Flemington for mounting and balancing. Won't go anywhere else. When I've had tires I've had to source elsewhere mounted there, I've always saved the best of the old ones to have on hand for an emergency since it can take a few days at least to get new ones. Unfortunately one of those cars met its' demise, so I no longer needed to keep an emergency spare in my garage. I took the half-spent tire to Flemington Mavis today to ask them to get rid of it for me, fully expecting to pay a disposal fee. That "fee" was a handshake, a hug, and a smile. That is EXACTLY what I was asked to pay. Now I can't say that will be YOUR cost for a tire disposal. But what I CAN say is that it is invaluable to develop a relationship with anyone you depend on for any service. I've never found Mavis Flemington to be anything less than top-notch, and take offense to the whiners who post negatively about this location. I get the feeling that some people will always complain and never be happy. I'm sad for them, and hope that any bad experience they may have had is an anomaly. So please stop taking out your unfounded frustrations on those who do good honest work, and don't blame others for your predilection to never be satisfied. read more

I went there Tuesday afternoon. I called at 12 PM. I had a 4 o'clock appointment. They didn't tell me they didn't get the tires. I stopped at chimney rock so they could work on my car for an hour and a half maybe two tires and a front end alignment Went back three times weren't done. It was the worst service I've ever seen in my entire life. It's like 7 o'clock. We go back and they're closed. My car is locked up. I couldn't go to work the next day. Communication skills suck. On Saturday May 25th I went to the Mavis in Washington NJ (07882) to get 2 tires replace on my car and 2 tires on a trailer. I also asked for the 2 new tires to be placed on the front of the car and please check the tire pressure sensers. The tires were place on the back of the car, and when I asked why the tires were on the back of the car and not the front the service manager told me that it was unsafe, and he wasn't allowed to place the new tires on the front of the car, and my 2-front tire sensers were not working after I left. I have been driving for almost 50 years and always have the 2 new tires placed on the front of the car, no one has ever told me that story from any auto store before. Also, the 2 trailer tires were never balanced. I will never go back to Mavis again. I dropped my car off and the 2 trailer tires at Pep Boys this morning and I will pay to have these things corrected. In the past, I did use Mavis in Somerset NJ & Manville NJ. read more

Walked in explained the situation the guy walked out took a look and immediately pulled in the car 10 minutes later we were back on the road. With 1 car in the garage and 3 people working when i got there it took them almost 2 hrs to patch my tire that had 2 nails. Oh and the filled my tire to 60 psi not 44 like the tire and truck say. It is my opinion that this shop is NOT a safe place to have brakes done. My review is Not 1 star, it's 5 skull and crossbones. The brake light came on and my regular mechanic was not open on Saturday. So I took my car here. While I was waiting I went for a walk and was a bit surprised at the amount of f-bombs coming out of the shop and the distance I was able to hear them. They finished the brakes and I drove the car away. The following day I hear a clunk followed by a ting-ting. Now I'm hear a bad wobbling noise. I was close to home so I limped the car home and then to my regular mechanic the following day (Monday). He calls me up and asks me who did the brakes. So I tell him Mavis. He then tells me that he removed the tire and the brake caliper FELL OFF. Huh? So I call up and I get James at Mavis and I explain what just happened. He starts going at me about why I didn't take the car back to him. No concern about me. But annoyed at me. He then states that he personally inspected the work before my car left the shop and it was fine when it left. Really? So he then says he is going to go down and take a look. Later that day he leaves me a message asking for my permission to take the car back up to Mavis. So I return his call and he says he needs to get the car back to his shop to finish the work. Hmm, "James, how are you going to get it there?" James: "I was just going to drive it." Huh? With the brake caliper NOT attached you are going to drive my car? I replied that was NOT comfortable with his answer. He then says that it's an easy fix and he can do the repair on site. The following day I hear that the repair was completed, but he never took the tire off the car and just reached around the tire to complete the job. I should have checked reviews before I did business with this place. Ordered tires online. Got a name brand at a decent price. Get to Mavis oh the tires are discontinued and they don't have them. "someone should have called you". Do you think! So they offer me a discount on another set of tires. I went in for new tires on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. I made an appointment at 1:30PM and was told it would take 2 hours. I was called an hour and a half later to be told they can't get my tires off since they are locked. Once they got the tires off, they told me it would take 40 more minutes to finish the job. I called back a few times and was finally promised they would be done by 6PM, when they were closing. It wasn't until 6:45 that they were finally finished with the job. Oh and when they took my car off the lift, THEY BACKED MY CAR INTO 2 OTHER VEHICLES ON THE LOT!!!! My bumper was cracked and scratched. I went in for service and came out with more service. For compensation, this company gave me nothing. Actually, they offered me a voucher for future service at Mavis Discount Tire. Talk about a slap in the face. I didn't get a call from them about fixing the damage until I called multiple times. The regional manager told me "Accidents happen". I would NOT reccommend bringing any vehicle here, EVER. It was during July 16', and I was out of town, ending a road trip from Vermont, back to NJ, when I brought my Suzuki SX4 here for what should have been a simple oil change. I should have known to leave when the tech asked me what kind of oil he should use.I opened the owners manual in front of him and had to educate him on synthetic oil for my engine. From there, I thought it was okay. I was SO wrong. Upon receiving my car after the oil change, I thought the car was fine. About a week or 2 later, oil was leaking from my oil pan. I took it to ETD in Wayne, NJ to have it checked. They stated that who ever did my oil change at STS stripped the threads on the plug to my oil pan, and instead of fixing the problem, they shoved the plug in as hard as they could to keep the oil from spilling out. Basically, this STS ruined the cap to my oil pan, and my car was now leaking oil prefusely. My engine could have seized and I could have been stuck on the side of the road, thanks to this unqualified, and unprofessional establishment. The ETD suggested I take it to another STS in Wayne, where I live, and charge the bill to the STS in Flemington. Well, I must say, all STS's really suck. The STS in Wayne didn't fix the pan, they put in a coil where the threads should have been on my cap, and now I have an even bigger problem on my hands. Oil is leaking everywhere, all over my driveway. I'm still fighting with both the Flemington STS and Wayne STS to get them to fix the fiasco that they all started. This place is really bad, and I hope they shut down or get new, qualified people to work there. Get your s**t together or get out. Bottom Line: DON'T BRING YOUR CAR HERE. Avoid at all cost! Had four tires replaced on a vehicle and since then, have had on going issues with slow leaks in all of them. On top of that they performed service on the vehicle that was not needed or asked for. Management/frontdesk are completely incompetent. Been in there four times to speak to Tom and each time its like this man' first day on the job. Anyways if you are looking for a shop to mess up your tire replacement, perform unneeded and unasked for service on your vehicle while charging you for every penny, then this is the place for you. If you are somekne who wants to pay for what you asked for and have reliable work done to your vehicle, then stay far far far far away. so almost a year later and I am still dealing with the aftermath of their poor quality service. I get a new set of tires from them and not a week into it I loose two lug nuts! They did not torque them. Also, I had a wobble due to their crappy wheel balancing. When I went back, they tried to sell me an alignment!!! I work on cars so I knew that was BS! A season later and that second wheel balancing job still has issues and gotten worse. I took it to my regular mechanic who takes care of the jobs I don't have the tools for and said that none of the counter weights fell off. So the severe shaking was due to the original job. This place is horrific, I called on a Friday night to schedule a Sat morning appointment, the guy tells me to bring it in first thing and tells me it will be 30 mins to an hour to swap my rims. I have it towed to their shop at 10:30, 2 hours go by and I don't hear anything so I give them a call, the guy says "oh $%*#, we didn't start working on it yet, it's my fault" so whatever. They call me back around 2:30 and tell me the lug nuts don't fit so they can't complete the job. I pick my truck up and go home. A couple hours later they call me at let me know that they forgot to put my wheel lock back in my car. Sunday morning I run out get the correct lugs call them to make another appointment for 10:30, I stop in again at 12:30-1 and low and behold the truck has not even moved. Why should I bother with appointments if they will not commit to them. This place is a joke, took my truck to Costco the work was $45 cheaper and they started working on it as soon as I walked in. 40 mins I have my truck back. read more

Worst service possible. Brought my truck to get a wheel alignment. I called later in the evening to check the status. Matt advised me they had broke a reflector for the wheel alignment machine at 10am and are waiting for the parts. I was in need of the truck on Tuesday for work and they failed to tell me they would not have it done by then. I went to pick up the truck on Wednesday and they explained they only aligned the front end and it was ready to use. Fortunately I left marks on the adjusting. Sleeve before I dropped the truck off. Guess what the marks were exactly where I left them. They tried getting me to pay for work that's was never done. I really felt the need to get on here and leave a positive review for these guys! (Keep in mind, most people will come on here to report a bad experience.) I had a really, really pleasant experience with Mavis Discount Tire in Flemington (though construction on the circle at the time of this writing had limited the entryways into the Mavis parking lot - enter via Reaville Avenue instead). My wife and I had originally had an appointment with another tire shop (the new membership only wholesale store in Flemington), but when we arrived for our 1:00pm appointment, we were informed that the tires we requested for our Dodge Caravan weren't ordered or were never received. They gave us prices on a few other tire models, each of which totaled over $700. I was very particular about the tires I wanted because my wife uses this vehicle to drive my kids around, and I want them to be as safe as possible especially with winter coming. I called Mavis Discount Tire (before I had seen their awful Yelp reviews) and the first individual I spoke with was really friendly and super helpful. He said he could have the tires I wanted by 2:30pm, only an hour and a half later than my other appointment. These tires also came with a better warranty from the manufacturer and a mail-in rebate, and the total was over $100 cheaper than what the first retailer was charging me. When we got to Mavis to drop off the car, we worked with Dwayne at the front counter. If this guy doesn't own this shop, he should! He was awesome to deal with, very friendly, presented the shop's promos and up sells but didn't pressure us with them at all. He was very informative about everything they did and why they did it. A couple hours later, our car was ready for pick-up. Dwayne helped me with payment, gave me my rebate info, and had the guys in the garage bag up two of the old tires from our car that still had some tread on them so we could take them home. The whole experience was pleasant. I had read the Yelp reviews after I made the appointment with Mavis, so I was super paranoid about what my experience would be like. Dwayne and his team far exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be visiting him again with any of my other tire related needs. read more

I am still in shock at the amount of profanity that came out of Manny's mouth, In reference to me as I waited. At 1:40 PM they told my wife it would be another hour. Three hours later, after not being able to get anyone on the phone, we drove to the shop. Manny immediately took an attitude with me and even though the car was done, he refused to cash us out, went back into the garage, and spewed profanity including the F word several times, telling one of the other mechanics that he's going to make me wait another hour. If I could give zero stars I would. Customer service is terrible here! Coming from a retail background, and working with the public, customer service is everything. I Called to order 2 tires at 8am on a Saturday. I was told they would be in by noon and that someone would call me. By 1pm nobody had called so i called the store to check on the status. I was told the tires were in transit to the store and would be there before the end of the day, but, that due to the time constraints they were unable to fint me in that afyernoin/evening. No problem. The guy I spoke to booked me an afternoon appointment for the following day. The next day I went in, and Manny the guy behind the counter was so rude, and had such an attitude. He said "Your tires arent here, sorry. If nonody called you to say they were in, then they are not here." I explained to him what happened the day before, and how we made an appointment for today because by the time my tires were to arrive yeaterday they would be unable to put them on due to time constraints. Again with an attitude he said your tires aren't here. I said well do you have a different tire that will fit? Im driving around on a donut and its icey. I got no response. Finally I asked, what are you going to do to accommodate me? This is just bad business. With a snarky tine he said, "what am I going to do to accommodate you?", chuckled under gis breath and walked away. When he came back said give me your keys ill see what I can do. He was beyond unprofessional! About 45 mins goes by, and Manny says oh, by the way we found your tires, as he tried to backpedal, and be pleasant. Sorry bud, its too late to try and be nice now. You already showed your true colors. He never apologized, and had the nerve to ask me for positive feed back after my service was completed. On a side note, he was not nice to the other customers either. A woman sitting next to me was told to come in at a certain Time, and had been waitig over 2 hours before I even came in. Another man came in because his tire blew out while driving his daughter back to college, and Manny's response was sorry, nothing I can do if you dont have an appointment. The man asked if they could put some air in his tire so that he could make it to another tire place, and Manny said no. I was shocked! read more

I totally agree that this place is horrific! I stopped in on Friday, 12/21 to see about getting 4 new tires for my car. The employee went out and checked my car to see what tires were on it. Once he had that information, he pulled up the available options on the computer. I chose the option I wanted (which was $109 per tire) and he put all the information in and I was given a total for all the work of approximately $500 (it was a little less I believe). One of the reasons I wanted to get my tires here was because they had the offer of taking out a credit card interest-free for 6 months to pay it off. I filled out the paper work for the credit card and noticed over the next few days that my credit bureau was checked (as to be expected). I scheduled for 12/26 and dropped my car off on the evening of Christmas (I dropped my keys with my name and number in the box). On the morning of 12/26, I get a call from Mavis asking me why my car was there! I told him that I was there on 12/21, applied for the credit card, the tire I chose was $109, etc. He said ok, fine - we will get it done. Then got a call back saying they don't know what tires I chose because they can't even get tires themselves that inexpensively and the best he could do was $149 per tire. I was also told that my tires are unusual and not easy to get. (I drive a Ford Escape - really!!!!!) Now they have to lie! He asked who I spoke to, I gave his name, told him he went out to parking lot and checked my tires, told him what sport we even talked about but the employee "didn't remember me because he speaks to so many people." I'm not saying I am memorable, but this was only a few days ago! I told them to forget it and I would just pick up my car. I then went online and found tires from Mavis that would fit my car that only cost $99 each. A good manager would have said, "We made a mistake and don't have the $109 tires in stock but can get you "whatever" tires for same price or less, but we have to schedule for a different day. I might have been a little annoyed, but mistakes happen...not a big deal. Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. When I went to pick up my car, I asked for the credit card paper work that I filled out, because I wanted to make sure this card did not go through because I DID NOT want this credit card. Of course, they could not find my application that I had just filled out a few days before. When I got home, I had to use the internet to find the credit card company so I could make a call. I was transferred via Mavis Customer Care to the credit card division. I was told to call back in 48 hours because none of my information had been updated for him to help me (because of the holidays!). I dug around some more and found the information I needed on a Mavis Customer complaint page. I called the bank number found there and found out that a card was opened in my name on 12/21!!!! AND there was a balance of $626.46 on the card!!!! Even if I went through with the purchase agreed to on 12/21, the total should have been under $500! This is outrageous! Needless to say, I was transferred to the fraud department and the card was cancelled! Every inquiry into your credit can affect your credit score. Now, it was needless! These managers need more customer service training because this did not have to happen. read more

I wish I could put 0 stars. I have never come across a group of such rude, obnoxious, and unprofessional low level mechanics in my 20+ yrs of driving. I went in for 4 simple tires, and not only could they not get this done in the 3 days the truck was there, they continuously hung up on me when I shared my concerns about their non communication about their inability to perform the work requested. 1st and last time trying this place. Horrible experience...my daughter took her car in for a simple oil change. Got the car back home and noticed oil leaking under the car...brought it back and they said they don't see any issues. Then we found a rag was left in the engine (probably were cleaning the leak). We brought the car back again and they still didn't admit they did anything to cause a leak. I have been here a few times to purchase tires and for a routine tire rotation. My last visit was to determine the cause of a vibrating sound in the rear wheels. It was diagnosed to be in need of an axle bearing. The repair was completed in a timely and professional manner with a 12 12-month guarantee. I've been to the Flemington Mavis twice and both times the service was fantastic. They got me in and out in no time. The first time I went for a flat tire and the second time I went because my car was making a horrible grinding noise. Turns out I had a tiny rock stuck somewhere in the wheel case. They didn't even charge me for removing and reinstalling/retorquing the tire which was super nice. The manager at this location is really great! read more

Stay away from these clowns! Made a appointment for a alignment and four tires to be changed and I explained that I needed to be first on a Monday morning. Got there 10 minutes early at 7:50am. Explained that I needed to be at a hospital by 12 noon. They assured me it wasn't a problem. At 11am a walked outside because I didn't see my vehicle inside and assumed they were finishing up, wrong! They hadn't even Started the alignment. They didn't even have the common decency to tell me they were running behind! Needless to say after wasting at least 1 1/2 hours I paid for the tire change and left disgusted. When I got home I realized they hadn't cleaned the gunk left all over the wheels and tires! I spent almost a hour cleaning up their mess. Called corporate they said I would hear from a regional manager. Well, he claims he called me twice but I never had a message from him to return his call. Finally a week later he called me at 9am, I explained what happened on the argument with the manager, and how the job was poorly executed. 1. 3 hours to change four tires? 2. Alignment never done 3. Wheels and tires left filthy 4. Air pressure incorrect on all four tires. 5. A major runaround to get some type of resolution (never happened) Said he'd get back to me by noon the same day. I went in on the day before the snow storm in march I did not see the regular manager George but saw someone new who proceeded to tell me that my windshield wipers needed to be changed. Well he would give me a good deal what he basically did was steal my winter blades off my car and gave me probably what was on his car. He mentioned how he had just moved up from florida. Today my husband and I went to get an estimate on my tires due to a flat tire we had yesterday for driving into a pothole on the highway we did not see the pothole due to the weather. We explained to the young lady at front desk what happened and she made kind of a joke about my husband not being able to avoid the pothole. I explained to her we our new to the state and she laughed at us. They gave me an estimate for four tires and for one tire as well and it was too much so we decided to go somewhere else. Once I reached the new place to get tires we found out that Mavis forgot to put my wheel lock device back in my car. We had to drive 30 mins back to Mavis to retrieve the item. My husband went into get it and there was no apologize for forgetting to put wheel lock back in my car. Customer service was very unprofessional and they didn't even have the decency to call me to let me know they had forgotten to return my wheel lock. My husband and I ended up getting tire fixed at Walmart Auto Center with better tires and better price and excellent customer service. I definitely would not recommend any type of services at Mavis! If I could give no stars I would do just that. read more

Don't waist your time with this place in Flemington. I made an appointment for 1st time. The guys checking me in were not the brightest but they told me about an hour wait. No problem so they brought my car in to the garage to take a look at the rotors and brakes. I ended up getting a ride home. But an hour later never heard from them. So I called and he said hold on I'll check with the mechanic. Then he told me they were test driving it to find the problem. Another 1.5 hours later still no call. So I got a ride back to the store, my van was sitting outside. When I went in I said what did you find out. The guy said we still haven't figured out where the sound is coming from which is another lie. I didn't have a sound issue. They never test drove it, never checked the brakes for 3 hours. He said we got slammed so they took other cars in front of me. I needed just leaving without any estimate. read more

I am not someone who normally doesn't write reviews. I normally give a shop the benefit of the doubt. I have to say something about this place.. it is truly poorly run, there is no organization to how the shop runs the service writers seem to be more interested in walking into the garage and talking to the mechanics, there is zero quality control with the mechanics. I went there twice in the last two weeks and both times I had to direct the mechanic on what the problems are with the car, it was a simple tire issue. The service writers don't check on the mechanics and their work. Truly seems like the mechanics are either beginners or just winging it. No one wears a mask in the service area on top of that . Visit the shop on Weekend there was not one single car in Any port . Three mechanic sitting around talking to each other no one working on the car that was in there a.k.a. my car. After half an hour mechanic finally gets around and start working on the only car in the shop. Poor management. Low quality mechanics. I would not have them install an air freshener in my car. If you need to go to Mavis and like the company I would suggest the one in Hillsborough off Amwell road . read more
