These guys are crooks. I brought my car in for service. They quoted me almost $4000. I told them no way and picked my car up to find out I needed to pay $150 to take my car back. Normally businesses let you know in advance that they will charge you but they didn't. I took my car out of there and then paid $468 for the same thing they quoted me almost $4000 for. They are crooks and you should stay away. read more

Brought it in for a broken AC, they replaced the part, and it was working for about a month. Brought it back in and was lied to that my system was leaking (which I knew was incorrect), but I was a their mercy at that time. Brough my car to the dealer, who confirmed their part had failed, and that that was all that was wrong with the system (at my cost). Brought it back to Melson's and they said that they would not work on my car again, and my warranty was not valid, and they refunded me the cost of the part. I am now sitting with their labor cost, the cost of the dealer diagnostic, and still broken AC. I would consider them to be a very unethical shop, and would never take a car there again. read more

A few days ago...my new Subaru tire pressure light came on...I checked each tire, w were 30# and 1 26#....put 4#s into the low tire and light still on. Stopped in a Melson's..to have the low tire checked for a flat and of course pay for the service...Mr Melson..came out to the car..checked the pressure light...told me that the best pressure was 35# each tire..THEN HE FILLED EACH TIRE!!!...TOLD ME THE LIGHT WOULD GO AFTER DRIVING A FEW MINUTES.....I OFFERED TO PAY FOR HIS TIME HE SAID NO CHG!!.....They went above and beyond!!! I am from out of state and I developed problems with my car while driving down to visit New Hope. I asked for a recommendation from the owner of one of the local art galleries and he directed me to Melson's. He told me they are an excellent auto service center, and above all, they are honest. I'm happy to report that I found both to be true. It's hard when you are not from the area to know who you can trust, but Melson's went out of their way to be helpful. They immediately took care of my problem for me and and I was off and on the road again with no regrets. read more

I brought my car here a long while ago, and was charged for the parts and labor to the door locks not working. I get home, and find that the work was not done on the back doors. So I bring it back. I got charged a second time for the repairs I paid for the first time! Too bad Yelp doesn't have negative stars. read more

I moved to New Hope about a year ago and have used Melson's half a dozen times for everything from leaky tires to title transfer to oil change - they are wonderful! I have always had positive, friendly experiences. My issues have always been resolved, and the repairs well explained and legitimate. The prices are a bit steeper than larger chain repair shops (owing to it being a small, independently owned shop I imagine) -- hence my 4 stars instead of 5 -- but I am happy to pay a little more for consistent, timely, high-quality service in support of a local, family-run business. read more

First class place. Traditional auto service station and U-Haul rental place. I was traveling from NC to Canada, with a pit stop for a wedding in New Hope PA. The battery on the car got a little iffy and the car needed a jump to start. I called Melson's and they answered phone quickly and politely and told me to come in. Once there they tested the battery immediately and I needed a new one, and was out in 30 minutes. Price was OK! Wonderful service. I wish I lived closer, they would have all my business. This place is the absolute WORST U-haul dealer I have EVER dealt with IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. We booked several weeks in advance, only to be notified many times that our contract fees, location of pick up, drop off, etc., had been amended to a higher price or changed at Melson's will. In the contract changes, the dealer lied and claimed that we had agreed to the NEW terms that we had no knowledge of, and it took more than 7 calls or so, to the national office to straighten out the scam that this place was running. They are clearly overbooked, disorganized, and dishonest, from my experience. Moving is hard enough without dealing with a truck company that does not obey company policy, and changes a contract to suit them, without telling the customers. We were beyond dissatisfied with this location. If you want a fair contract that you can rely upon, I highly suggest you go elsewhere, as a contract means NOTHING to those who run Melson's U-hual in New Hope Pa, @ 295 W Bridge st., 18938. I would give them -1 stars, but since that is not an option, I gave 1. I would have preferred to give no stars as they have made our move a larger headache then it needed to be.
