Early this week I took my 2017 Jeep Wrangler to Mavis for a tire balance & rotation, vehicle alignment and some front end work. Bottom line up front - Dave (Manager) was all over it with his customer focused approach to every person there. I experienced this first from the initial phone call to set an appointment, through my vehicle drop off and all the way through payment and vehicle pick up. I elected to wait for my services in the Customer Waiting Room and I witnessed this approach with every customer that walked in the door that day. Dave made the experience. I'll be back for any future mechanical and tire needs. Only 2nd to Dave was that of the Technicians working on my Jeep... I have absolutely nothing negative to say. Dave was upfront and honest and the Technician was quick, competent and proficient. Not once was I given the bate and scare high pressure sale tactic often used to manipulate you in to getting more than what's actually needed. I was provided a full upfront honest assessment of what was needed.....I know this to be true as I went in knowing exactly what was needed and the assessment aligned exactly with what I knew I needed. Not once did Dave try to push additional "recommend" services on me as they simply were not needed. I'd recommend this Mavis location to anyone. I'll be back for future services. read more

Atrocious customer service at the Camillus, NY location! Several days ago, I scheduled an online appointment for an 8am NYS inspection. I arrived just before 8:00 and was told that I would need to leave my vehicle but was promised it would be done and ready for pickup by 12. This was slightly inconvenient and pushing the limits of some other time constraints I had for today but I agreed to leave it. After all, we assured it would be done by 12. By 12:40 when we could plainly see that my vehicle hadn't moved an inch from the spot where I parked it nearly 5 hours earlier, we decided to go and retrieve it. The associate working attempted to refer to the 4 hour guideline we were given when we phoned in the appointment. Never mind that we DID NOT phone the appointment in or that the 4 hour window was already exceeded, there was clearly no intention of getting to my scheduled service any time soon. The desk worker also advised that they have only one inspector and made several other excuses rather than man-up by admitting to their failure to execute. What a massive waste of time. I brought my car to the dealership and they said I needed a new tires before the winter. I asked friends and family for recommendations and multiple said mavis. I called mavis and told them I needed decent all seasons as I drove 25 minutes both ways every day for work. They suggested tires that would run me around $900. Brought them in and got them out on. Soon as I drove home I knew something was off. Brought it back a couple days later and told them they were very bumpy and loud and the guys says well you shouldn't have gotten those tires. I am like these are the tires you guys recommended. Had a mechanic check it out and drive it around and said the air was a little low so they topped it off and it should be fine. Here I am three weeks later and my car pulls to the left, it feels like I am driving on a flat tire, and it is so loud I can hear it over the radio. I was there for 2 hours for an alignment and when it was done and I left, I had to turn around and go right back because the steering wheel was not straight and all my sensor lights came on. when I returned they had me waiting for another 1:15 minutes before they even brought my car back in to be fixed. I still feel like something is off with the alignment. I would not recommend this place for any of your automotive needs. read more

Made an appointment online, recieved a call that the online service is not working correctly, and they couldn't get my car when I scheduled it, could get me in the next week. Bring the car in for my appointment to get an inspection... to be told they won't get inspection stickers in until 2 days affter my appointment. No curtousy call to say hey by the way... we are waiting for stickers. Not to mention 4 employees were sitting in the bay smoking and on their phones. I could see them sitting there when we walked in... It took 5 minutes for one of them to come in to the lobby area to help us to begin with. Just moved to this area, will NEVER go here again. My family and I were traveling home to CT from Rochester when we experienced some vehicle issues. We were quickly able to get an appointment at this location on our drive across the state. Once we arrived, Dave was quick to help us and take a look at our tires. Thankfully nothing major was wrong save for a stray lug nut that Dave replaced for us at no charge. Extremely unwelcoming staff member. I have come to this place a few times for maintenance. I recently had a tire that kept going low so I called same day to see if they could take a look at it. Person on the phone was very nice and told me to swing on by and they'd take a look at it. However when I got there, the worker at the front desk was extremely rude and hostile about not having an appointment or email confirmation and said he couldn't help me because he only had 1 tire guy present. His rudeness was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. I left without getting my tire fixed or looked at. I will not return to this place again. Simple kindness goes a long way. read more

if you pay for an alignment here just know they will charge you for it without actually doing the work. then when u go back within the 30 day warranty to explain that the camber is still way off and your car is pulling to the right badly they get attitude with you like you are the problem. if you are going to charge someone then you should do the work right or at least try to make it right if something went wrong! I scheduled a tire change and an oil change Saturday. I ordered a specific tire because I did research on that tire and it's supposed to be a very good all season tire for snow. I went to drop off my car at the Camillus location and they didn't have my reservation and they were out of stock and had to order the tire that I wanted. So the attendant there talked me into another tire that I have no information about and pushed me off until Friday. I'm not really happy about how this issue was handled. I guess they're throwing me a free oil change...... maybe???? Not sure if Mavis is the place for me to go. This isn't the first time I've had an issue with Mavis's lack of service. read more

I went to Mavis in search of an alignment. I called a couple days before having it done, to see what it would cost me. The phone seemed to ring forever before finally being answered. The employee on the other side was very friendly though. Mavis ended up being the cheapest option, so I asked to set up an appointment over the weekend. I was told they'd have a full crew and no appointment was necessary. I went in and was waited on by the assistant manager. Very friendly guy. I was told it'd be about 45 minutes to an hour to get it done, which was longer than I was hoping for and I wished I'd made an appointment. But, luckily it was done on the quicker side, right about 40 minutes and I was out. Fast, friendly service and reasonable, sometimes cheaper prices. Can't complain about that. read more

Went in to get a flat tire replaced. They quoted me a completely different price over the phone versus when I got to the shop to pay for the replacement. The excuse? "Oops, we must have only given you the price for the tire, not mounting and labor, etc". Sucks. Also, they were "kind" enough to take a look at my front brakes for me, (even though the flat tire was from the back) and told me they need to be replaced asap. Several months ago I visited this store and got the quickest & best service I have received in years. I stopped by without an appointment with a slow leak in one of my tires. I watched as they inspected the tire over and over and then placed it into the water tank in an attempt to find the slow leak. They found a rim seal leak....removed the tire from the rim, power sanded the rim down, new sealant and back on my car. That was eight months ago, no problems... Guess what, no charge....they were glad to see me as a customer and treated me right. Since then, I have had two oil changes at this same store and great in & out service with full synthetic oil and OEM oil filters. Today my wife went there with a soon to be flat tire on her Honda. They were delighted to see her, treated her well, brought he into the garage quickly, found the leak and repaired it....all without an appointment. She was in & out in 16 minutes. Charged $14.00 with wheel balance and flat repair. I have told others about the great service at this location and of the three people I have told they have all had great experiences. Just had the worst experience ever at the Camillus location. Ordered tires for our travel trailer and made plans to get them installed. Drove there only to be told that nothing was ordered, the guy had no memory of saying/doing a transaction and the "manager" claimed that unless you can pull into a bay, they cannot take tools outside the bay to work on a vehicle. The manager was rude to us and belittled an employee in front of everyone because we were telling him our story. Have done a lot of business there but no more. Well it's been over a month since I called Mavis tires office , I've made 3 calls and none returned ! It seems Mavis tire is only concerned about the sale and not the customer service after, the guys that took care of me on nov 12 , 2021 seemed nice and since then , nothing , my left front tire sensor came on when I left the shop after having new tires out on and I can't get them to call me back, the older guy that was at the counter is as unprofessional as you can get , I will never go there again ! And the day I was there , a lady came in and had an appt , for that day at 1:30, the guy says , ok where are the keys and we will call you as soon as we find something! She said I have an appt ! He said sorry we're real busy , she said ok , I'll have to go somewhere else , I can't leave my car here , he then said wait. Horrible service! I was quoted $209 for one tire including installation for my truck. After it was put on they attempted to charge me $270. I explained that i was quoted $209 and the guy (not sure of his name but he was using a crutch to walk if that helps identify him)told me i was lying and the person i spoke with never told me that price. I asked to speak with the store manager who he said was not there. I requested that he call him since he was telling me that this was who I originally talked to on the phone anyway. He refused to call the store manager. I aske to speak to any supervisor he told me there was no supervisor or regional manager that i could speak with. I then requested the home office number and he states that he will just change the price snd out notes in to let them know i got over in him the next time i come. I asked how could he trll me that i was not told the $209 price including installation if he was not the person i spoke with and he stated that nobody would have ever told me that. I them stated that maybe he made a mistake which is fine but do not tell me what he did or did not say if you were not physically there. This guy was very nasty, rude and disrespectful. I told him i would have never made an appt with them for $270 for one tire when i got all for for $900 from my dealer. I only cane there because it was closer and i did not want to drive in my donut for two days until the dealer could get me in. Then i get home and notice the donut that was on my car was thrown IN MY BACK SEAT! Not in the trunk or placed under the car where it belongs. The clamps that hold it under the car were in the trunk with my tire that needed repair so there was no reason not to put the donut back where it belonged. Terrible service and i will NEVER return. When I asked what the purpose of a reservation was, I was told it was only to let them know I was coming...so what's the point of me making a reservation? All this and the nasty attitude of the employees I would rate this Mavis -5 if I can. So immediately after I wrote this review, I visited Mavis on Onondaga Blvd. Night and day difference between the two shops! Kareem the manager in Onondaga Blvd is very personable, friendly and has amazing customer service skills! They tried to scare my 82 year old mother into a $750 brake job by lying about the state of the rotors and a pinhole in one of the calipers that would lead to the total loss of braking if not fixed. I know it was a lie because the next day we took the car to an independent mechanic I trust to have the pads replaced, not telling him about the visit to Mavis. When he was finished we asked about the state of the rotors and calipers. He told us that the rotors were good for the new set of pads, but would likely need to be replaced with the next set, and that the calipers were fine and without leaks. They caused a little old lady serious distress in order to make more money. Avoid this place! read more

I have been there once to buy tires, the guy at the counter would not talk to me, even when I attempted to get his attention. My aunt who lives with my family took her car there after getting advice from someone, they took advantage of her since I was not available to go with her, she needed her brakes done and an oil change, they charged her for 4 factory rebuilt calipers (which I have never heard of) and she did not need new caliper as she had them replaced a year ago. then when they got to the oil change they up sold her on the premium oil with a sales pitch designed for the uninformed. then they told her that she needed to have her power steering fluid flushed or the power steering could lock up, and a radiator flush , because it looked bad total bill $1700.00 to be clear I checked the brakes she needed pads and rotors, no leaks from the calipers, there was a schedule issue or I would have done them Be aware take your vehicle some where else read more

Mavis made a mistake and broke my vehicle. I went in for new tires. They kept my vehicle overnight, left a light on/killed the battery, fried the electronics trying to quickly jump the battery without my knowledge and did so improperly. They unrotated my recently balanced wheels only to fail at ever mounting on my new tires. They couldn't mount on my new tires or restore my vehicle back to the working condition it came in with. I drove home without new tires or being able to roll up my window. I can no longer see how much gas is in my car or the odometer etc. It now needs a new instrument cluster. They replaced my original lug nuts with the wrong ones that don't belong on my car and wasn't able to put my car back the way it was. They actually stole my original lug nuts that I specifically asked to be returned. The higher up manager is aware of this and agreed to cover the cost when I had an estimate. The Dealership can't even fix my car now. I do have an estimate which is I need a new vehicle; management is all of a sudden unreachable by phone and voicemail is full. Its already been weeks that Ive been without my car. I am in serious trouble, if I don't get back moving again real soon; I will for sure lose my job. I can't believe Mavis would treat a long time loyal customer like this and during a Pandemic. Been on hold with Mavis all day getting hung up on and the run around, just not getting anywhere. The Regional Manager is missing and not able to receive voicemail. Thieves! My dad went in for a brake job and they told him that he had a defective/Frozen caliper and that he would need to replace both the calipers and the pads and rotors $600+. He called me and I told him to Run! He came to my house I ordered the parts they said we would need including the caliper. went to do the brakes and found that both calipers were in great working condition he only needed pads and rotors. People are pleasant and nice. But don't bother making a reservation; first come first serve. Quality of service is poor. They over torqued my lug bolts, breaking 6, and claiming the bolts are defective. Toyota was only a year old, and I had the broken bolts lab tested. Results showed bolts clearly over tightened. They replace the six, but broke a 7th during the replacement. Ended up having to replace all the lugs Mavis installed and over torqued. Very expensive and time consuming. Since then have heard from others of similar experiences at this location. read more
