was in town meeting old friends from college and someone suggested this location for lunch the interior is pretty cool and welcoming. I had ordered the French dip and French onion soup and that was absolutely the worst. I think I've ever had in a restaurant. It was horribly over salted and the vinegar taste was overpowering and I actually had to send it back after just a few sips and order fries. My French dip was extremely dry and for some odd reason the orange juice sauce was actually pretty good and that pretty much saved the day, but I wouldn't recommend ordering what I did. I'm going to give Maverick's 3-stars for their dinner but a solid 5-stars for their breakfast. I've, unfortunately, had more than one dinner here that tasted like it cooked by the janitor, figuratively speaking. But they also have some of the best ribs I have ever had, so I'll give them 3 stars despite the couple of bad meals I've had. Now breakfast is a whole other story! The pancakes are the size of the entire plate they come and are about 3/4" thick! Not to mention the biscuits and gravy are positively delicious! The waffles are also very good as well as the bacon and the sausage! I think Mavericks can be a great place to eat, but you have to be careful on what items you get for dinner. read more

Yuk! Only dined here for a small family event. Don't want to go as it has been years here but never never again. I had a vegetarian platter. I mean what could go wrong? They can't seem to cook meat correctly so I gambled ordering a simple dish. At home my stomach was making noises. Thank goodness for Pepto!!! Dirty romaine or old dressing? Probably the worst clam chowder I have ever had and I'm not sure what was on top of the stuffed mushrooms, but it was terrible as well. My chicken sandwich was over cooked and dry. Service was slow, although they were busy and appeared to be very understaffed. It took 40 minutes to get our food. To top it off they tacked on an additional 4% to use a credit card. We found us a fantastic restaurant and can't wait to return and have more of the delicious food. The restaurant itself is a treat, beautifully decorated and western attire just a clean, pristine restaurant everyone was so friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. This Hass to be a locals favorite place to hang out, I know if I live there I definitely eat there all the time. We came back to Maverick's for an early dinner. It'd been a while since I'd had a good hamburger and Maverick's menu looked like it would be a great "craving filler." I ordered the Maverick Burger which is a half-pound patty with Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, bbq sauce, and an onion ring on a fresh, toasted bun. I had asked about the "Sidewinder fries" as that was an option for a side. Our waitress said they were seasoned curly-q steak fries. SOLD! OMG! I'm so glad I ordered those fries with my burger! First off, the burger is HUGE; piled high with a skewer holding it together. It was cooked perfectly, it was SUPER-flavorful - just about the best burger I've ever had. The fries were crispy, hot and well seasoned. I could go for a big platter of those, covered in brown gravy and cheese curds with a cold beer! Hmmm.... take notes! My wife ordered the mushroom-Swiss burger with the sweet potato fries. She equally enjoyed them, but kept hitting on MY fries. I know what we're ordering next time we go. Service, as before, was top-drawer and prices are quite reasonable. We look forward to being regulars at Maverick's. read more

The restaurant was very busy because of a convention in town, but the service folks were still friendly and helpful. The decor is very tastefully "western" and the courtyard for outdoor dining looked beautiful, unfortunately it wasn't open when we were there. I ordered the starter sampler, which included their Maverick ribs. The ribs were delicious, as were the other offerings. We would go back when in town. I think their 3 star is underrated. read more

The burgers are great, but a few things need work. A Cobb Salad is a specific type of salad with defined ingredients, not "chicken on greens." Per Wikipedia: Salad greens (iceberg lettuce, watercress, endive, Romaine lettuce), tomatoes, bacon, chicken breast, hard-boiled eggs, blue cheese, red-wine vinaigrette. At Maverick's: not even close. Similarly for Club Sandwich, which is not "cold cuts on toast." Invented in 1889, "A club sandwich is a sandwich of bread (traditionally toasted), sliced cooked poultry, ham, fried bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. It is cut into quarters or halves in two layers which separated by an additional slice of bread. It is held together by cocktail sticks. At Maverick's: not even close. This place has a nice feel, but I will have to try other options next time. Me and my family's steak and eggs were very tough and overcooked. I understand times are tough, we're all paying more for everything so it's extra frustrating when the food you order is bland and tough. I have been an experienced cook for a long time, so take the time to please reevaluate. Employees must enjoy their work environment in order to succeed. Management must feel helpful to employees and customers, and customers must feel heard. I am generalizing now, but it's important for every establishment. A credit card fee! Really? Although I used a debit card on getting home I noticed a credit card fee. Really? My message is simple to the owners. Get on top of your costs, figure out how to price to make money, but most of all knock off this ridiculous credit card fee nonsense! Few people these days carry much cash. Lot's of people, you would think food would have been good. NOT GOOD AT ALL. After waiting over an hour food comes and order is wrong. One of the Santa Fe omelettes was veggie omelette (it was someone else's order). Veggies in he omelette were hard, cold and uncooked. The hash browns were like a serving of mashed potatoes...Pancake was hard on one side, a flat cold rubber disk that didn't even melt the butter and bacon was cold and greasy as well. They have a solid prime rib dip. Unfortunately by the time our food was given to us all our meals were cold. The mac & cheese was a sad affair. Noodles drenched in butter then sparsely covered with cheese. Flavorless. The wait was long for our food. Then the wait was for our check took an eternity. Best service around!! Jami and her daughter Makayla are a one two combo for amazing service. I came in on 09/04/20 and it was absolutely packed but the service wasn't at all lacking. If I was rating only the service, I would give this place 5 stars. But this is a review of the food and my experience wasn't great. I ordered the Southwest burger (?) and the bun was cold and dry. Meat was cooked to what I wanted (medium) but everything else about the burger was severely lacking. No sauce, a giant slice of raw onion, tomato and lettuce. The burger was so dry that I had to dip it into my nephew's ketchup. My family enjoyed their food and the fried stuff (fries and chicken tenders) were good. I'm disappointed that the burger I ordered was akin to a burger you'd get at a cafeteria. Restaurant is cozy, lots of tables and feels very much like a restaurant in a small town. I'm sure I'll be visiting again so we'll see if I can pick the right thing to order next time. read more

I can sum this up with one word-- delicious. I keep coming back and always have a good experience.

Food sucks. Service is worse. I got food poisoning at Maverick's. Waited a year. Went again. Waitress messed up my order and told me it was my fault. Waited another year. Ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. It tasted like someone had mowed the lawn and used the clippings. The chips were stale crumbs from the bottom of the bag. Took one bite. Sent it back. Took 40 min to get our burgers. Potato salad was so bland, not even salt and no salt on the table. The bill came with the dip on it that we had sent back. When I reminded the waitress that we had sent it back. She said it's not her fault I didn't like it! I said take it off the bill. She ran off crying. The owner came back. Threw the corrected bill at me and told me not to yell at her staff. There are so few restaurants in Colville but I will never go back to Mavericks. read more
