First and last visit! The place looked dirty had an oder. The lady behind the bar was not cheerful and made me feel uncomfortable it seemed like the longest 5 minute wait ever. I ordered the thin crust supreme, sausage,green pepper,onion,mushroom. The crust tasted like unleavened bread somewhat crispy on the crust but soggy throughout. The sauce was scarce along with the cheese,the veggie toppings were al dante. I wondered if they put them on after the pizza came out of the microwave. The restaurant was almost empty when I went in and asked for a table for our party. The host directed us to a to a white plastic folding table, the kind they sell at Costco or Sam's Club. It was the only table like that in the place. I asked the host if we could sit at one of the unoccupied wooden tables and was told "We don't have anything else available." This place has been in the area for a while. They're also known to make one of the more better pizzas in Joliet. (you can easily start an argument over who does it better; them or Aurelio's) Its also a place that'll make people say that they haven't been there since high school. I dont think they should call their pizza a deepdish it's just more cheese , and usually really runny.. I love the looks of the place with the tables carved into. Terrible experience!!!... We've been at this place a few times and had good pizza and ok service but today it was a very disappointed visit for us since we got taken care of like 15 minutes after we sat at our table and it wasn't even the waitress table for what she mentioned so that along was bad too.Our drinks took for ever to get to the table which if you're not even full shouldn't take over 10 minutes to get a pitcher of Sam. Great Pizza and atmosphere. You get the family friendly feel with the sports bar mix. The booths have lots of character with the signatures from people who have come and gone (although, this is now a retired tradition). They have to have one of the best deep dish pizza's around, I agree sometimes the staff could do a better job serving you, and it is just a tad dingy inside, but you do get quite a pizza for your money, and I guess it's one of those places you can say ya I've been there. read more

Best pizza in town and my local weekly stop! I have never had a bad pizza or experience yet in over thirty years of coming here. Try the thin deep or the traditional thin crust with everything. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My daughter gets the Buffalo chicken salad and loves it! I'd highly recommend the loaded fries as an appetizer paired with an ice cold beer. The place used to have amazing thin deep dish pizza but has declined in quality over the years. The service is usually slow and the prices are high. They let you know there's a long cook time if you get their thin deep or deep dish and it used to be worth the wait but since the decline in quality it's no longer worth the wait or price. read more

The pizza here was terrible. My parents used to be regulars here, however, one time, and our last time we visited there the pizza was like cardboard with no taste. When we brought it up to the waitress she was very defensive about it. The owner came to our table acting as if he was a Mafia member which was a joke and instead of being apologetic and professional, was confrontational to the table. If everyone at the table is saying that something is wrong with the food then something is wrong. They have the best pizza!! It is always consistantly delicious. We always order the thin crust and the same toppings-we're just creatures of habit. They are always generous with the toppings. It's a charming atmosphere at the bar and the girls are always nice. I get the thin/deep pizza about 6 times a year, today I got one and when I picked up the box I was thinking that it seems really light. I got home and the wife and I had a slice and man was it CHEAP, it had a thick fluffy crust with almost no sauce and when you lift the cheese layer it was so thin. Very disappointed in Maurie's. We've been going here for years, until last night. After waiting an hour and 20 min for our pizzas we were informed, the kitchen had put on wrong toppings. We said we'd take it anyways, the waitress came back and said they had immediately scrapped the pies. She said they could have our correct pizzas out in 20 min (we got thin/deep). It already being 9:30, we declined the offer (knowing it would take at least 40min). Honesty would have gone a long way in this situation. The owner offered to "pick up" our app, and showed no genuine concern. After a woman from our group spoke with Norm, he said he would cover the bill, but just leave! Sad to say we won't be returning. Unfortunately so disappointed in mauries table. I grew up going to this place for pizza after sports games. Pizza was always so good! Decided to go tonight and was so sad to See how much this place has changed. The cheese sticks came out very hot but was served with ice cold marinara. Didn't complain, waited for the piZza. Ordered a large thin crust with "everything" (sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, and green pepper), only no mushroom on half. Pizza came out hot, and the half with no mushroom had very very scarce toppings. Crust was so soggy, so we asked the waitress if that was what the pizza was supposed to look like, she right away sent the "manager/owner" over. He was a disgrace to owners everywhere. Came over to the table with a menu in hand immediately asking what the pizza was "supposed to have on it" and said that he saw onion, green pepper, etc etc all while pointing this out. He came to the table looking for a fight, didn't care about our business or if we'd ever be back. So sad to see this is what this place has come to since it has been a joliet staple for my whole life! I'm sorry for anyone who tries this place or has faith in this place. You can always taste that they use the best and freshest ingredients.has always been the place to go after high school games and summer softball league games. Mauries has a reputation for great pizza, and I gotta say I was disappointed. Our "everything pizza" had very little sausage or pepperoni...we ordered a large pizza and left hungry. It was also very busy and there was only one waitress serving tables, the other 3 were wrapping silverware. I felt terrible for the waitress as we waited a long time, our order was messed up, and she was slow with drinks. We went with a group of 10 people on the back of the menu it states groups 8 or more, check can not be divided and an 18% gratuity will be added. We got 2 orders of wings a few got only saladsThe pizza was okay, sausage was sparse . ladies room was dirty and toilet did not flush properly. When we got our bill it said $323 + change!!!! One star is being generous. We used to come here all the time. Over the years, the quality of food and customer service has seriously declined. We took a 6 month break and gave it another shot tonight. HUGE mistake! At first, everything was fine, then they had a huge party of 25 show up. Once that happened our dining experience went out the window...No refills on drinks, no check in from the waitress....we became invisible. Too bad we weren't invisible when it was time to pay. The prices aren't necessarily unreasonable, as long as your food doesn't taste like dirty dishwater. I'm not sure if it's because they do not properly rinse the dishes they use to prepare the food or if it's the utensils....either way, the food was gross. I won't blame the establishment for the guests who stood near our table drinking beer and discussing constipation as we were eating, but I do blame the establishment for the poor dining experience and poorly prepared food. I am terribly disappointed. What used to be the "place to go" for good pizza has turned into the place to avoid. We won't be back. read more

I made a last minute reservation for a party of 30 here and they were very accommodating and had the room set up very nicely. Our server was very nice and was helpful with recommending when to place the order and how long it would take. The pizzas were perfect, the beer nice and cold. Terribly disappointed, our order was never put in and we then opted to wait for it to be put in. We were told it would be a half hour. Then 40 minutes later we were brought an undercooked pizza that had to go back. In the meantime the owner came over and made a point to tell my wife not to scratch her name in the table when she was clearly doing it on the back of the booth as is the norm here and has been done for the last 25+ years, never once apologizing for the mistake or seeing to it that we were happy. First time customers and last time we will ever order anything from Maurie's!! Customer service was so awful. Couldn't believe the things the workers there were saying! If the owner allows this to happen shame on you! We ordered a "deep dish" pizza which should be renamed double crust because that is simply what it was. When we called to tell them they had made a mistake we were told that when gravity sets in the crust will shrink...there wasn't any crust at all it was only dough on the bottom of the pizza. When I think of deep dish I think of a big pie pizza where only one or two slices fill you up. Not regular double crust or thick pizza. I took it to Facebook to post about the deep dish we receive and poor customer service and then was bashed by Maurie's page themselves saying it was a personal error and that we should've known their deep dish doesn't mean deep dish. WE ARE NEW CUSTOMERS!! How are we supposed to know anything? Check out their Facebook it is on their page you'll see all of the rude comments from the admin of Maurie's page. I am not from joliet or lockport area, infact I'm a good 2 hours away and that is the closest I have ever lived to that area but when I'm out here....oh, there is nothing like the deep dish pizza with sausage, mushroom, extra cheese and a little extra sauce. The sauce is not complicated, it tastes very basic (not over flavored), the dough is perfectly crisp on the bottom and moist on the inside. They top the pizza with the cheese all the way to the edge so it gets crispt and starts to melt into the crust. The sausage has the perfect spice and the mushrooms are perfect in cut size for the top. The decor of the restaurant if awesome showing the pride they have for the local school sports and all the Chicago sports teams. My only complaint is that in the last few years, the service has suffered to where I usually have to go to the bar to refill my beverage which I don't mind because the food is great.
