Let's start with we used to come here weekly every Friday night and food was amazing. Maurie's Table serves the area's greatest pizza (and is my all-time favorite in general). Thin slice, thick slice--any slice here rocks! This J-town gem is a sports bar through and through. After walking in, you'll instantly spot neon signs, arcade machines, TVs, and athletic memorabilia adorning the walls. There's a cozy feel to this place and it's definitely an area institution. You can't miss the wooden benches, because if you end up on either side of the main dining space, you'll be sitting on one. People have etched their names into these booths over the years, so you know Maurie's has a history. This past weekend when I visited my folks, we had solid service. We waited for over an hour for pizza that takes 20 minutes. Gary Hecht should know, he's worked there in the kitchen. This is sad, there was no one in there and as the time kept on ticking, it got busy. We got there at 4:00pm, there was no excuse why we shouldn't had a pizza by 4:30 at the latest. Every time we visit my mother-in-law in Joliet stopping here is a must. The pizza is very good and fast. We really like the crust on the pizza with just the right amount of crunch on the thin pizza. I've read complaints about the décor here, but if you remember this is a bar, not just a pizza joint, the decor fits. read more

If your looking for AMAZING Deep Dish Pizza, look no further than Maurie's Table. I've lived next to Joliet my whole life and this is hands down the best Mom + Pop pizza place in town. The inside is truly unique. The walls covered with hometown jersey's and the tables are ...well you just have to see them. There is also lots of arcade games for the kiddies and a Huge big screen TV on the ceiling. I would have given this place 5 stars but the service can really blow sometimes. The problem is the service there is terrible! It always has been. Sometimes you wait for sometime before they wait on you. Not even counting the quality of the food (which I personally rate as sub par), I found it unethical that they slipped in an 18% gratuity after we specified we were already giving them over a 30% tip in cash. As in I wrote it down what out tip was in cash. So they took that to mean we wanted to pay over 30% tip plus another 18% for a total of 50% tip, and when questioned acted like that was common practice? Blaming it on a party of 6 or more yet charged a party of 2 the same 18% surcharge. This place has no conscience. Got a couple of Italian beef and cheese sandwiches for carry out. The sandwich is humongous, and comes with a pile of fries. They bake their beefs, which is a bit unusual, but they were pretty tasty. I felt like their beef could use a bit of seasoning, but if you throw some hot peppers on top, you'll be good. Not m favorite place around for a beef sandwich, but they'll do in a pinch. read more
