They are a favorite place to stop on First Fridays, when I can hardly get in the door! And the stream of new and fun fashions and accessories is non-stop. Service is friendly and personal, too. Still one of my favorite stops. This is like shopping in a dear friend's great closet. Although the store is tiny, the variety always surprises me, and the service can't be beat. I find interesting items I find nowhere else, and while their prices are consistent with other stores, their sale items make them more affordable. There is even a comfortable place to sit! I have purchased tops, purses, outerwear, scarves, jewelry, and other items. Easy to miss since it is north of Casa Bonita and before the train tracks, up a couple of stairs. But with such a uniquely-vintage location and terrific items and service, it is worth the extra steps. Easy parking right in front, or in the copious parking lots around the corner on Lake Street. No I do not work for them - I am just a huge fan and want to be sure they stay in town!

Despite how busy it was, Stacey personally welcomed every guest with that kind of hospitality that makes you wonder if she's lowkey your long-lost aunt. She made the whole space feel inviting and cozy, even as she was styling, ringing up, and somehow still smiling through it all. She's the MVP of multitasking and mood-setting. Let's talk clothes -- my wife was in boutique heaven. The selection hit that magical zone of trendy and timeless, like "that dress will slay now and five years from now." She found pieces for brunch, casual Fridays, and -- no joke -- we even considered coordinating outfits for future date nights. If matching sets are the new love language, this place understood the assignment. Now for me -- the supportive husband on standby. I came fully prepared to be ignored and under-caffeinated. Instead, I got cozy seating, cold bottled water, and good vibes. I felt seen. Honestly, the only thing missing was a small men's rack so I could join in on the fashion fun. I would've gladly snagged a matching neutral-toned shacket and made it a full Instagram moment. Final verdict: Blu Violet is a vibe. It's the kind of place where your wife walks out with a glow, you feel unexpectedly refreshed, and suddenly you're googling "how to style couple outfits without looking like a prom photo." 10/10 would return -- with hopes of menswear, or at the very least a whiskey, while waiting.

H&M really has their finger on the pulse of fashion trends and they bring them at an amazingly low price point. From socks ($17.95 for 10 pairs) to sunglasses ($10 a pair), I rely on H&M to deliver the goods. I had my sunglasses on a few weekends ago and my friend asked, "Where'd you get those fancy designer shades?" How cool is that? I've gotten a stylish navy blue trench coat there and found shorts on sale for amazing prices. Yesterday I found a great pair of lounging shorts for $5! I spotted a very cool cowl neck cotton pullover for my partner which was just in as well. At $29, it looked just like the one that sells for $195 at Allsaints Spitalfields or James Perse. From time to time, they will partner with high-end designers to bring a special capsule collection to the store. Right now, they're featuring French designer Isabel Marant. In the past, they've had collections by Viktor & Rolf, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garçons, Matthew Williamson and Sonia Rykiel. Of course, if you want to feel like sports royalty, you can find the underwear collection by David Beckham there as well. People have mentioned that lines can be long here, which is true. It's the trade off you pay for getting this merchandise. As for help on the floor, the people who work here are helpful if you can find one available. I don't mind about this so much. These aren't deal breakers for me. I've also gone here to pick up gifts for friends around their birthdays and the holidays. I always find really fun gifts from purses to hats to jewelry. It's hip and inexpensive. I love H&M.

The date the dress was promised by salesgirl Dawn came and went without hearing from the shop. I called and was told the dress would be here the next week. I had to call again the next week and the dress still wasn't in. I expressed concern that it was getting very close to the wedding and was told not to worry. The dress finally came in the next week in the wrong color and the wrong size. The staff talked to the manufacturer and told me the right dress would be in the next week. I was given a FedEx tracking number and when I used it got a message that there was no such number. Called the store and oops, sorry, they meant DHL. Dress finally came in in the right color but two sizes too big. Alterations were begun, 10 days before the wedding. I went for a fitting and found a bill attached to the dress for more than $300 in alteration charges. The shop owner, Ellen Stirling, told me she would give me 20% off of alterations because of all the aggravation I had been caused. I told her that was not acceptable because if the dress had come in in the right size I would not need all that work. She refused to take off the charges saying even if it was the right size it would need "tweaking." Went back for second round of alterations and hem and the dress finally looked good. Went back again to pick it up after the hem was done, tried it on and the bodice, which had been fine the fitting before, was puckered. The seamstress made three more attempts to fix it and still couldn't get it right. I finally had no choice but to take it as it was as the wedding was in 3 1/2 days. Dawn blew incredible smoke at me telling me it looked perfect, awesome, etc. as if I wouldn't notice the flaws if she kept throwing around insincere compliments. This dress was very expensive and I certainly expected better service than what I got. No one kept track of the original order, the staff did not realize the wrong color had come in, the owner never apologized and did not come to my final fitting to see how it turned out even while knowing how upset I was. I would never shop there again.

We had heard they don't have fitting rooms, so we wore leggings and tank tops so we could try on over our clothes, which there are mirrors and racks around for you to do. It is a little tricky to know what something like a dress will look like with your clothes on under. The clothes are organized by style and color, and I will say the staff is on top of everything staying clean, it's not as chaotic as similar stores. Things are mostly under the wrong size, through. What turned me off the most wasn't the selection, but the fact that they are charging $30-$40 for items with giant holes or that are covered in stains. I would say 70%+ of the items were damaged, a lot of it irreparable. Even if a dress was originally $200 and you're selling it for $40, it's not a deal if the zipper is broken, there is ink splattered all over it, or there is a hole the size of my head in it. It was just a little disappointing to get excited about something and then find something was wrong with it with almost every item I selected.
