Absolutely fantastic experience with Dr. Kim (if having MOHS surgery could ever be fantastic)!…read moreEveryone in the office was helpful, compassionate, friendly, and just fantastic. Dr. Kim explained everything very clearly and had wonderful bedside manner. Stacy and Krystelle (I'm not sure how to spell her name) were both fantastic and the front desk was incredibly helpful. When you get MOHS here, you stay in the same room the entire time rather than shuttling in and out of the exam room. They take good care of you (which is good, as the wait is long) while you are going through this process. The surgery was smooth, and the follow up care was wonderful. The office called the next day to see if I had any questions or issues, and the directions given when you leave are very clear. Getting my stitches out a week later also went very smoothly, and my incision site looks much better than I had hoped. I have had several different MOHS surgeries with different doctors in different locations. All of them were fine, but this experience was far above any of my previous experiences. I really hope I never have to have MOHS again, but if I do I am really glad to have Dr. Kim and her staff to return to!

I was able to talk to her over the weekend and even send her pictures. She stayed on top of everything, even as I had to see an infectious disease specialist as well for an infection I got after the skin surgery. She has a wonderful bedside manner and is compassionate. She is extremely thorough and explains everything that is going on. I trust her.

I cannot say enough about Larinda Ogawa, PA-C, and the exceptional care she provides at Cascade Eye…read more& Skin. Over the years, I have been treated by many medical professionals, and unfortunately healthcare can sometimes become so focused on the medical task at hand that the human element gets lost. Larinda is a remarkable exception. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and professional, yet she has never lost the human touch. She takes time to listen, connect, ask about your life, and make you feel that she genuinely cares about you as a person--not simply as a patient. As the current Deputy Mayor and former Mayor of Puyallup, I have spent many years working with and observing professionals from virtually every walk of life. You learn to recognize the difference between someone who is simply competent and someone whose character, compassion, and professionalism truly set them apart. Larinda is one of those rare people. There is no medical professional I trust more--not simply because of her medical knowledge, but because of her humanity. I am equally impressed by Larinda's commitment to mentoring the next generation. On many visits, I have seen her teaching a student or intern. It is encouraging to know these future medical professionals are learning not only medicine from her, but also what compassionate, patient-centered care should look like. I also want to recognize her assistant, Bailey, who is bright, personable, professional, and has tremendous potential. I understand she hopes to pursue PA-C training herself. To any program considering Bailey: take a serious look at her. She has an exceptional mentor in Larinda and the potential to carry that same combination of professionalism and humanity forward. Larinda represents what healthcare should be at its very best: excellent medical care from someone who has never forgotten the person behind the patient. Cascade Eye & Skin is fortunate to have both Larinda and Bailey. -- Dean Johnson Deputy Mayor & Former Mayor of Puyallup

Just a heads up, this is one weird dude. He was hostile and short from the start. Did not ask me…read moreanything, just started talking into a voice recorder to document my skin conditions in the third person..."patient has skin lesions, etc." I felt like a cadaver. When I tried to interject to clarify something he held his hand up for me to stop talking and did not care to ask me what my question was once he was done recording. Not sure what the recording device was for because he had an assistant in the room who was scribing and coding things in the computer as he dictated. He gave me his diagnosis right after and did not care to discuss it. I asked if it would be possible for a biopsy to confirm and he got pretty huffy, saying that it is not necessary because he is 99.999% confident in his diagnosis and do I have any reason to believe he was not correct? He prescribed steroids. It did not help. It was also extremely hard to even get an appt. I had state insurance at the time and could not get an appt. My gp had to call directly to strong-arm them to schedule me. I suspect being underinsured had something to do with my treatment and their refusal to do a biopsy. I went in months later with excellent insurance to see another dermatologist and voila! they were happy to do a biopsy. Of course, results were inconclusive, and this dr. had no clue what my rash was and just gave me steroids.

The clinic is located on the backside of the building and has two flights of stairs. I didn't see any elevators for my mobility challenged friends. The clinic is cute, chic, and spacious. Racheal is a skin pharmacist. She's a massage therapist, what's the word...aesthetician. I went in wanting a hydro facial, but basically said, "look at my skin and give me what I need." She really tailored my treatment, letting me know what she was doing and why at each step. I appreciate that. I get the sense that if you know exactly what you want, she can do that, too. Clinic seems appropriate over spa. It's not just a vain beauty frill, she also treated and took care of my skin. Myskin was vibrant and well hydrated, like the pandemic never happened...alas. Pandemic or not, go here fast. Be kind to your skin and treat yourself:)
