Alas, I never got to see Dr. Komorous, nor even did I make his waiting room - he had a young woman outside his waiting room door turning people away on a profile basis. I am a 71 year old man on Medicare, which is a quick way to be evicted from a specialist in cosmetic surgery and diseases of the rich. Dr. Komorous is my all time favorite doctor I have ever had in my life. He is INCREDIBLY talented, fast, efficient, and accurate in his diagnosis and treatment. He is the ONLY dermatologist I have ever had that completely solved my lifelong battle with eczema and my later early 20's cystic acne. Anyone who has written a bad review, they are basing off one experience and I cannot relate or disagree more. He is close to retirement and I will be devastated and highly sad when he does. I have never had a doctor this competent, and one who resolved all my many skin issues I've been blessed with. Dr. Konorous I hope you read this, because you have changed my life as helped me feel more confident about my skin, by actually helping me! There is no "trial and error" process with him, in resolving my issues. He always says," let's try this, and it it doesn't work we will try something else." Every doc and derm says that, however no doctor or dermatologist is as accurate the first time, every time. I would give zero stars if I could. I have called at least 35 times at different times of day, no one ever answers and you cant leave a message.my daughter had the same issue. We have been there before and like Angela, but I found a new doctor because I couldn't make an appointment due to the no answer issue. Also, the receptionist is a dud. Take a look at that user photo. I'm pale - think Casper and go a shade whiter. As a kid I got a lot of sunburns because my mother was convinced I'd develop a 'base tan' that would 'protect me from skin cancer.' Melanoma, by the way, which my father, mother, and mother's father all had. So, we've got a whole raft of problematic issues and I'm reaching that age where folks start developing random moles, spots, and other skin issues, so it seemed a good time for a full-body check. (Good thing, too, the doc confirmed with skin like mine I should be coming in at least once a year for checks.) After poking around at reviews, I settled on this office, since they seemed the least likely to scam me or try and sell me on plastic surgery of some kind. I called to set an appointment and found that there was a cancellation for the same week and I was able to get right in. I was told that if that cancellation hadn't been available, I would have waited several months and learned at my appointment that they only book out three months in advance, hence the docked star. My appointment was fast, friendly, and informative. No muss, no fuss; I didn't have to hang out longer than I needed to mostly-naked with a paper blanket and I didn't have to sit around and wait for any period of time to be seen. I was called back while i was still signing my privacy policy notice and the doc came in (and had to come right back) before I was able to slip my shoes off! All of my questions were answered and I didn't feel rushed but I was back home within the hour. Some existing skin issues I was aware of (and had been previously diagnosed) were called out, since they didn't really have me provide a history, so they were definitely looking and paying attention. (Folks with large tattoos rejoice: the doc said that they were able to see what they needed to, even with the ink, and the only comment I received about said large tattoo was that it was "beautiful." This is not what I have heard from other doctors.) I'll be back next year, I'll just be sure to mark my calendar to call three months before I want an appointment. read more

So got in to see Dr Komorous - staff happy and friendly and as for Dr K....... attentive, funny, respectful and knowledgeable. Explained everything in simpleton terms about the condition and explained the prescriptions down to a the finest detail without making us think 'hell what did he just say?' Dr Komorous is the best there is for skin health in the Tacoma area. He's everything you want a doctor to be; knowledgeable, kind, experienced and he respects your time! He is punctual and will have you in and out right on schedule. I went in to just make sure all looked well with my skin and have a few areas from past sunburns checked out. He was able to look at something carefully for about 10 seconds and declare it ok, or worrisome. He did a head to toe check and while I was in and out in half an hour, he was very thorough. The one catch: he's popular so it's about a two month wait to get in! But the do have a wait list for appointment cancellations while you're waiting for our appointment to come around. read more

I have really bad psoriasis for years and I have seen 100s of doctors over the years and no one I have ever met was half as interested in trying to make me feel better... I moved away from Tacoma a few years ago and it broke my heart to leave the office there... Dr. Komorous and his whole staff are the most amazing people I have ever dealt with... I had an appointment today with Angela, Dr. Komorous' PA. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I will not meet him until the end of September, and will change it if necessary at that time. She is deserving of the 5 stars herself though. Everyone in the office is so friendly, and Angela was patient, interested, thorough, and knowledgeable, that I felt very confident about my appointment. They also worked me in quickly, even though it was my own fault that I had put off the appointment too long. I could not say good enough things about everyone I met in this office. read more

I have been in a few times, I have never seen Dr. Komorous, but I have seen Angela each time. She is FANTASTIC! I wasn't expecting much as I have a large keloid scar that I researched online, believing there was nothing that can be done without risking a larger scar. She checked it out, and did a few steroid (I think) injections. I think the injections were a year apart (Not sure, it's been a while!) But it's been about 2 or 3 years since and it's WAY better! It used to be red/purple and really raised, puffy and it itched. Now it's flat, and skin colored, with no pain or feeling. I am so pleased with the results. I want to leave 10 stars! Excellent work Angela! I need to go back in and get my skin/freckles checked out...which reminded me to leave this review. Go see her! read more

Good bedside manner but sadly misdiagnosed my folliculitis with molluscum. Froze all my lesions which obviously didnt help. Now I have to deal with folliculitis plus the scars left from the cryosurgery. Unfortunately he's very dated with his knowledge read more

Getting an appointment was fairly easy. The rest was a nightmare. After waiting for 45 minutes. I had my short visit with the doctor. It was less than 10 minutes including a biopsy. no instruction was given after the procedure. When asked when I would get the result, no one would give me even an estimated time. In three days, I developed a serious infection,pus oozing out and had to visit ER on Christmas eve... I called the office after the holiday and spoke with the nurse and was told that the skin rash was caused by frequent contact, essentially dry skin. Not a big deal... One has to wonder, why the biopsy was necessary???? The dermatologist with 30 years of experience cannot diagnose common skin rash due to dry skin? The serious infection caused me to be on antibiotics for 10 days, which created many negative side effects that I am still dealing with...It's been more than a month since the visit. I have yet to receive the official biopsy result in writing. What happen to the standard procedure and protocol???? read more

I have organ transplants and the medications I take put me at high risk for skin cancer. I went to Komorous for a lesion on my scalp. He told me we'd watch it for a few months - fine. He told me I'd likely scratched myself with a comb, barrette, or something (and it didn't heal for over 6 months?). Later he told me it was psoriasis (in one spot on my head only?). After my fourth visit I reminded him that I'm at high risk for skin cancer and had to ask him to do a biopsy. It's a good thing I did, because it resulted in a carcinoma in situ diagnosis. I went to Komorous for a year and he was nice, but ALWAYS in a rush. I went to a different provider who has diagnosed me with squamous cell carcinoma on my scalp, left shoulder, right arm, and both lower legs. I don't think Komorous would have ever figured this out because hes' too rushed to pay attention. read more
