The laser they use is not effective on the face, and only moderately effective on the body. I got better results removing my facial hair going to a more reputable place after 1 session than 6 sessions here. I wasted a lot of time going here for that for very little results. I suspect the laser they use is actually IPL, because other locations with better lasers have a completely different feel. Trans patients - unfortunately they don't understand pronouns. This place is a big fat scam. I was promised permanent hair removal, which lasted for about 2-3 months. Then all of a sudden my hair growth was completely back to normal. The technician specifically told me that it would be permanent hair removal, then when I called to complain everyone said "we never said permanent." My service with Madsen was laser hair removal on my underarms, over the course of six appointments. It was my first time having a procedure like this done, so I can't speak to where they fall compared to other types of businesses, and my opinion is four stars only because 3.5 isn't available. This is based on my general expectations of customer service, what I know in general about laser hair removal and my results. The good: - The staff is friendly and attentive and made me feel at ease. The receptionist very quickly learned my name and remembered me, which I appreciated! - My treatments were far less painful than I expected given friends' reports of their experiences from different companies. Madsen attributes that to the "new type of machine" they use - I have no idea if that's true or not. Post-treatment I'd be sensitive for perhaps an hour and then would be fine. - Treatments are very quick - it took longer to drive there from Bellevue than it did to be treated. - The facility was clean.. The bad: - The staff is perhaps too accustomed to having clients who get these treatments as a matter of routine, so were overly casual about ensuring I was fully informed, that my questions were answered, and to help set expectations about the efficacy of the procedure. For example, when I mentioned at my 5th appointment that my lighter color hair was not being taken care of the response was "Oh you'll just have to live with that!" rather than a discussion of how LHR works best with dark hair, etc. - My procedures themselves were inconsistent based on which person performed them. I didn't need numbing cream but only twice did I get a post-treatment cooling gel which really did make a difference. One of the attendants used more pressure than could possibly be necessary (ouch!), and the thoroughness of the application varied. I think my best treatment was from a man who was incredibly thorough and seemed genuinely concerned about the care I was receiving. Be forewarned though, I was not notified ahead of time that I would have a male attendant, so if you are a woman who is terribly shy or would feel awkward having a man perform these procedures you should tell them in advance. (Or get over yourself - this is work for him, not a date!) - They could really use one more staffer to handle phones / check-in during peak times. read more

I started going here last year for laser hair removal. I had horrible in grown hairs on my mons pubis (and other nether places!) and felt a lot of embarrassment and shame. I didn't want a partner seeing me in case they saw. I was nervous if the laser hair process would hurt, when I started the process I didn't want to go for a straight up for a Brazilian. I started with my armpits. I just finished 6 treatments and I'm very happy with the progress! I may get a touch up but I didn't feel much other than the occasional hot spot. The Brazilian now... it doesn't actually hurt, the occasional burn again but I cannot express enough to shave before! Maybe a two days before so the Esthetician can see the progress made from the treatments, speaking of her, Sam is amazing! She is very vocal and knows how to hold a conversation while also cleaning up the goody bits! She just joined the team but already has their best interest and shows knowledge on the process plus she is very thorough! And Dani the receptionist is so kind and sweet, I originally got the Groupon for my armpits and was worried about the next sessions and how much they would cost. But Dani broke down the pricing for me and she is always willing to answer any questions I have about it. She is always prompt with the reminder calls and they are always helpful with reschedules! I could literally write a Nicholas Sparks' grade love novel about Madsen Medical Spa. However, I will keep it shorter and with no tears of joy (maybe..) From the moment I walked into the gorgeous spa, I was sold. First of all, it really feels like a spa. It isn't sterile. Second, I never saw a member of their team without a warm and inviting smile. Third, three words: Text Message Reminders. Love it! I just moved to Washington from Arizona and have had laser done there before. I got two sessions of laser for a Brazilian before I moved. In Tucson, it was by far the most painful experience of my entire life. However, totally worth the results. At Madsen, I had the pleasure of having my treatment done with Jenny. She was so amazing that I might get more things lasered than I ever anticipated just to be around her. Friendly, professional and hilarious to boot. Best of all, they have a top of the line laser that uses some space-age coldness technology (they'll explain it better) that didn't even hurt. I repeat, did not even hurt. Really nice facility and nice staff. I have had 10 laser hair sessions and still have white whiskers thriving. I plucked them and decided not to go back, mainly because I read up on it and Laser Hair Removal will NOT work on gray/white hair. I KNOW I specifically informed them my hair is 95% solid white, so my facial hair is mainly white and I worried their lasers wouldn't detect white follicles. They replied adamantly that would be "No Problem because the roots are darker so it still detects the roots"; I'm not so sure that is true... everything on the internet contradicts that. Madsen should have said "if white hairs remain after laser treatments, we recommend electrolysis to eliminate those" so we're not wasting years thinking laser may some day work like they said. Also I'm reading that Laser Hair Removal isn't permanent, that Electrolysis is, so I perhaps chose the wrong treatment in that aspect also especially because Electrolysis also works on white/gray/blonde hair. read more

I had 6 treatments at Madsen, on my Extended bikini and my legs. I had the same tech so we did develop a relationship and as much as I enjoyed her personality I do have some con's. Previous info/ laser experience- I also have had 3 bikini treatments at Another location in Seattle, they used a different laser that sucked my skin into the treatment area and then lasered, this was significantly more painful than what was done at Madsen, however it may have been better for results. Since I had it done 1st there is really no way to tell you if I was %100 satisfied with the Madsen laser results. My first appointment at Medsen I asked about the laser I was given, my treatment and there was cool air blowing throughout, I was not told this was a cooling treatment but when I left to set up my next appt the desk asked if I had any extra treatments or cooling as it costs more than my groupon. I did not have to pay and it was not mentioned again until my very last appointment where my tech made a joke about it costing more and explained that it isn't always needed, also I was not charged for this. But thought it was odd and a bit unprofessional, also I think for bikini it is painful without it. It was fine without on my legs. I just thought it was part of the Laser treatment and as far as I remember was done with my treatments, other than the last time on my legs. My tech constantly forgot why I was there, she often did not know what I had paid for, and I had to remind her that we still had to do my legs or the back side ect. Almost everytime I went there, there was gel on the towels from a previous patient. This really irked me day one and I did mention it. But it kept happening so I took it upon myself to stay protected and put down fresh towels and remove when I was done (Hello, there are naked people on those sheets great way to transmit HSV/ crabs ect. even if it is just the leg, gross!) also did not see gloves being worn, not sure if this is standard or not but in the bikini area it probably should be. Not sure how the laser works at madsen but often on my legs and underside of bikini the laser wand was not flush against my skin it was just the edge or lip of the side of the laser, not sure if this will affect my results. The tech did my treatment different, sometimes she would just have me open my legs up and other times she would have me lift it and do the under side, sometimes she would go past my knee other times she would only work below my knee. This was a bit annoying, as I am glad if she went above what I paid for, but then I wondered if that was what she was supposed to be doing all along. But maybe that goes back to looking in my chart to see what areas we were actually treating. Pro's- The staff were very nice, they always gave me a follow up call to see how I was doing and I never felt like I was rushed to get through a treatment even if I was a few minutes late. I was happy with them otherwise but still usure if my results were a success or just improving what work I already had done. My legs have been solely at Madsen for laser and I do have regrowth but I have really light hair on my legs vs my bikini and having darker hair there, that is now gone. The staff when asked was otherwise very knowledgeable about the treatments. read more

It's been three weeks since my appointment for a laser skin rejuvenation session, and I want to put in a good word for Madsen. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in and was welcomed by the receptionist. She was very nice and understanding when I was late and they still made time for me. Janet explained the procedure to me before we started, and she said something like "usually in about three weeks people start noticing the change and get the compliments about their skin". I have to tell you, I was surprised when exactly that happened three weeks later! (how did she know?? next time I will ask more questions) My skin is visibly more even - the result that I haven't seen after a number of microdermabrasions or chemical peels that I tried before. I know that my skin will need a lot more work to reduce the appearance of acne scars, but now I know that I can expect real results instead of promises. So, I will definitely come back!. read more

Avoid getting laser tattoo removals here at all costs! It should have been a red flag after my first treatment when no care instructions were provided and Dr. Aaron seemed clueless and didn't have the proper tape for bandaging up the treated area.... it took 3 appointments later for them to finally get the correct tape other than duct tape... you would think they would be better equipped if they were to offer this service. I was originally told it would only take 6 treatments to remove my black ink wrist tattoo but I still wasn't seeing much results after the 3rd treatment and expressed that at my 4th appointment. This was when Dr. Aaron turned up the laser machine to the highest setting possible and ended up cooking my entire wrist because he kept going over the same area over and over to try and get as much ink out as possible. This caused 3rd degree burns and left areas of my wrist with chunks of deep wounds. It has been over 2 months since that incident and the 3rd degree burns left my wrist looking disfigured. I am so ashamed to wear short sleeves now even in the hot weather because it looks like I have some sort of skin disease. I cannot believe after spending hundreds of dollars here, my wrist looks worse than if I were to just keep the tattoo in the first place. Now I have to live with permanent scarring, along with a disfigured tattoo (all that pain and the tattoo itself is still there btw!) all due to Dr. Aaron's carelessness and lack of experience in laser tattoo removal and proper equipment. I bought a Living Social Voucher for 6 Laser Hair Removal treatments for a small area (underarms). The appointments for the procedure were spaced 6 weeks apart. Started the 1st one in June 2011. In Mar this year I noticed hair growing from all the follicles that I assumed were destroyed. In fact, they only slowed down the growth of hair during the time the procedure was performed. On the last day they offered me a special deal to take care of the few follicles which might not have been destroyed. They r lousy cheats. Please don't go to them for Laser Hair Removal. read more

I started going here for laser hair removal after buying a Groupon. The first 5 treatments I had were great. They were administered by a professional female and I had good results. Laser hair removal is never permanent, no matter where you go. I knew this going into it. A year and a half later, when the hair started to grow back, I called them and they offered me a very affordable $99 package (not on Groupon) for 3 more treatments. Around the time that I was about finished with those 3 treatments they were having a special for Dysport, which is similar to Botox. I'd never had either but being 36, I was interested. I talked to the front desk gals who said that 20 units of Dysport in my forehead would get rid of the vertical lines in between my eyebrows. At my appt the medical assistant, who was actually very sweet (I don't blame her for this at all), said I probably needed 30-40 units to get the results I was looking for. Apprehensively I agreed to 30 units. The 30 units barely did anything for my forehead. I feel like I wasted $300 on nothing. After talking to several friends who have had both Botox and Dysport I've come to find out that Dysport is much more suitable and effective for the small lines around your mouth and eyes and Botox is what you should have in your forehead. If I had known that to begin with I never would have wasted $300 injecting Dysport into my forehead. I'm disappointed with Madsen Medical Spa for not being upfront with this information and for setting unrealistic expectations up for me that 20 units of Dysport would be sufficient for my forehead. They do great laser hair removal, but I would never go there again for filler/Botox. read more

This was my first time getting laser treatments and the woman who did mine is great and very friendly. However, I asked to schedule my appointments all at once and was told that it was unnecessary and I would be able to get the appointments I needed (saturdays). That was a complete lie and the woman who schedules was completely rude after I said I was told twice that I would be able to get Saturday appointments. She was completely unhelpful and rudely told me if she knew I needed those appointments she would have just given me a refund. It will cost me more to drive across the state to get to my inconveniently timed appointments than my treatments are worth. Her attitude alone will make me choose to go somewhere else if i choose to do more laser treatments. Beyond disappointing experience, do not recommend. read more
