I have a 1986.5 Nissan Pickup truck. After using several repair shops in Kahului without success, I took the truck to Maui Tech Auto Repair in Kihei. They fixed the truck and found that the issue was with a few bad spark plugs. To me, the other repair shops should have found this when they looked at the truck. My car shipped from the mainland about a year ago. Dead battery about 5 mos ago. Next, engine overheat warning twice. Took it to a dealer...TWICE. $2,700 dollars later still having problems, the same problems AND new problems. I was ready to sell my baby 2007 with 60k miles. ****Brought it here and they fixed all of the problems, including new problems created by prior mechanics*** (They're repairs including attaching battery cables that were barely touching the battery and causing electrical failure of the car while driving). My valve gasket was leaking on my BMW so I brought it to Maui Tech. After service, when I picked it up, I noticed that there was still the smell of burning oil. After a few days, (to make sure the smell wasn't from the residual oil on the engine), I brought it back and they determined that the valve cover had a crack in it. I was upset but Paolo in the office handled the situation very fairly. He offered to take care of the cost of replacing the valve cover since it was handled during the gasket replacement. I feel that this situation was handled fairly and I feel like they were not trying to profit from a unfortunate circumstance. I got my car back and it's working beautifully. I would definitely recommend them to others. read more

Happy with the repair done on my Kia Sorento. Replaced u joint. Customer service was good. Decent price considering Kihei. Fairly quick in getting the repair done. Going to bring my VW cabrio in for work. Cabrio wheel bearings needed replaced and the guys got it done. Noise from the bad front wheel bearings is gone now. Price for the repair was reasonable. I really appreciated the service last Feb 2020, and thought 145.00 was high for just refilling freon for air conditioning in my 2004 Prius, but my air was nice and cold again. HOWEVER, had to return again for same problem July 8, 2020 and they charged me $200.00!!! for a process that took my friend only 15 minutes on his Prius, and then they charged $25.00 for a $5.00 filter at Napa that's easy to install behind glove compartment, and then they claimed to put leak dye in without spotting the leak while I was there. As my friend said, "They probably charged you and didn't put dye in because otherwise they'd see the leak without waiting for it to turn warm again for however long that takes." I feel that they WAY overcharged me. I will NOT return to them again. Consumer Beware! of getting ripped off here...! read more

I am a retired mechanic, know my stuff. We live off island so I don't have resources to do my own repairs locally. I called this place and arranged to meet them first thing in the morning. When I showed up, the place literally looks looks like a dump. The gate was open but the one guy there didn't speak English and was busy cleaning a van. He wouldn't help me. Finally, twenty minutes later, another guy showed up. He was not at all interested in discussing my auto issue and said just to leave it. Awful, unprofessional service. I know it's Maui, but I'm sure a better shop will appreciate my business. read more

Was shipping my F-150 off island and had it detailed the day prior. The detailer sprayed my engine caused 3 of my 8 cylinders to misfire. I called Maui Tech late in the day (after 3pm) and needed a quick fix so I could ship my truck the next morning. They stopped what they were doing and fixed my truck in under an hour and charged me a super fair price. On top of that, they were just so full of aloha and really seemed to care to help a local guy out. Best experience I have had with a repair shop and they will have my business from now on. read more

Absolutely terrible. Delivered my sparkling clean Mercedes back to me with grease & motor oil stains all inside the door and floormat. While backing out the car (a policy I later discovered from the owner he's repeatedly told his employees not to allow, customers driving on their lot), they put a huge dent & large scrap across the side of my virtually perfect exterior then refused to take responsibility for it or even split the cost of the repair. Would absolutely never recommend them or do business with them again. read more

You can't give zero stars. My diagnosis: Careless and crooked, or else careless and incompetent, (or both). "We have been in business for 20 years"... but... "We don't specialize in manual transmissions" This was what I was told when they couldn't/wouldn't figure out why my car was running strangely when I took it back in to them to fix whatever had happened from the time I left it with them and the time I picked it up. They had had it for three days diagnosing a battery drain and alternator replacement, which would take any professional less than 2 hours. (I have a Ford; It's American car; very simple to work on). I kept telling them it seemed like an air intake issue. They wouldn't listen and acted like they couldn't tell anything was wrong. Then Paolo tried telling me they thought it was transmission, but that it would be a separate diagnosis and repair charges, despite the car had been running fine before I brought it in, and now it was clearly not. I later found out, that they had broken a part that connects some air hoses, very easy, but pricy part to replace, that would not have to have otherwise been done. They also charge 2x the price of parts. There were also parts missing that I had to go back and have them put back in/give back. They also used zip ties for part of their repairing... Overall: EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and DISAPPOINTING! My lesson learnt: I should have read their reviews first. . (To top it all off, Paolo had 'given' me two free tickets for a snorkeling tour as an apology for the diagnosis taking so long.. I ended up giving these to friends who were visiting, but they were not able to use them as Paolo would not allow them to redeem them). read more
