If I could give zero stars, I would. Maui Pool Services was dispatched through our home warranty provider to repair our hot tub. They reported to the warranty company that the issue was caused by an "ongoing leak" -- but offered no explanation, no evidence, and no visual confirmation of this supposed leak. When I called to ask for clarification -- where is the leak, and shouldn't we address that first if it's causing the motor issue? -- I was met with incredibly rude and dismissive behavior. The woman who answered the phone refused to let me speak with the technician (Frankie) who made the claim and told me the only way forward was to pay out of pocket for a separate service call. I was willing to do that -- I just wanted to understand what exactly they found. She flat-out refused, said the technicians don't speak with homeowners, and hung up on me. This experience was not only frustrating -- it was completely unethical. To make a claim that could impact a homeowner's warranty coverage, and then refuse to explain that claim or allow any communication with the technician, is unacceptable. Our hot tub is also professionally serviced three times a week by our pool company, who checks for everything -- including leaks. There has been zero evidence of any leak. We are responsible homeowners who address every issue promptly. I was even happy to pay for a repair out of pocket -- with a proper explanation. But this company's refusal to provide transparency or accountability speaks volumes. If you're dealing with a home warranty issue, I strongly recommend requesting a different service provider. My pool guy told me my aqualink was broken and it would be $750 to replace so I called my home warranty who sent out Maui Pool Service who told me to first get WiFi extender and then try again. He was amazing, he knew the brand of WiFi extender and how you had to adjust the setting to guest in order for my old aqualink to join, and then he walked me through resetting the antenna and then voila- my pool aqualink works!! My warranty company referred me to Maui pools to address my pool pump not turning on and a leak from the salt cell. Maui Pools was very responsive and sent someone over the next day. They were able to fix the pool pump issue immediately by replacing the capacitor and fixed the salt cell leak. They replaced the part that was not working properly. The worker that came out was knowledgeable and addressed my concerns in the one visit. I was happy with their customer service and I will be hiring them to do a non-warranty covered job next. I was assigned to Maui Pool Service by Old Republic Home Warranty to fix a leak in the PVC end cap in my above ground portable spa. The house is a vacant vacation rental, so no one was there to meet the technician, which I told Maui would be the case. But the leak was identified with duct tape attached to the pipe end cap, and labeled "leak". But when I called 4 days later to see if the technican went out, Maui lady who answered the phone, said he did go out, but did not fix it, because "he could not find where the leak was". Well you have to put 6 inches of water in the hot tub in order to see the water leaking out. The hose was right there by the spa. Maui phone lady said "It is not our job to put water in the tub to see where the leak is coming from". When I told her that the leak area was identified with "leak" written on duct tape that was taped to the end cap that had a crack in it, (see photo) she said,"We do not go by signs that say where the leak is". How infuriating! How you gonna see where the leak is , if you refuse to put water in the pipe to see where it leaks, and read the signs. I immediately called Old Republic and requested another pool repair business and they assigned me to another one, but I have not make appt with the second one yet. All I know is the technician Maui sent out was really too DUMB AND UNWILLING to look beyond the tip of his nose. For a pool technician to be unwilling to put water in something to find a leak, when the area is already labeled is outrageously poor customer service, and it infuriated me! No one from Maui got back to me even 4 days after the appoint to make a report, either. I had to call Maui to find out what happened and I detailed the result above in this review. Same Maui lady said tech tried to call me 3 times, but if so, he never left a VM and I don't see any caller ID. Another reason to not deal with this company. I told her I have no idea he even tried to call once if he doesn't leave a message on my VM (which gets texted to my email). She couldn't answer. Maui Pools experience summary: broken spa rock feature, fake gfi box plug cover (never fixed), broken jet pump cover (coincidence?), sloppy work, poor follow up, arrogant owner. Details: My experience with Maui Pools is very similar to the countless other 1 star posts. We requested Maui Pools to provide an estimate to repair our spa light. They advised the light would need to be replaced. On the day of install I asked the technician to let me know when the job was complete so we could walk through the install. After awhile, I noticed the technician was no longer working on the install so I went to the front of my home and realized he was leaving. I stopped him and asked if all was ok. He said he was all done. I then asked if he would walk through his work. We went to the spa and I immediately noticed broken rock pieces from the spa feature in the spa (see pictures). I asked the tech about the broken pieces of rocks...he denied breaking the rocks. He then proceeded to show me the lights functioning. I then asked him to show me the equipment/outlet box that was replaced. I noticed a piece of metal covering up the hole on top of the box, not an actual screw/plug to protect the gfi from weather/water in the box. (See picture). When he realized I noticed he said he would return later in the day. He never returned. A few days later I had friends over and I tried to turn on the jets in the spa. They were no longer working. They were working immediately before Maui Pools arrived. I called Peter from Maui pools and explained to him if it was possible that the light install may have caused this and of course he denied. I proceeded to share with him the series of events with the broken spa rocks, the box plug that was never properly replaced and now the jets. He immediately addressed the box plug issue stating that his tech told him about the plug/screw and would be back to fix. I mentioned that the tech would have never told me about it until I asked him to walk through his job. I also mentioned that the tech said he would return later to fix and never returned. Peter's response "what's your point". I was shocked by his response but after reading other reviews, I am not shocked. Apparently Peter feels he has enough referred business that he can do and say whatever he wants to customers. My response to him was to make it right. After a few exchanged words the conversation escalated and he hung up. Never heard from him again. I spoke with my Spa Cleaner, who referred Maui pool. He felt terrible. He came to my home the next day to check everything. He agreed the rocks were not broken before and the cap used on the gfi box was not correct. He investigated the jet pump and noticed the cover was cracked. He could not confirm how it happened but possibly someone stepping on it to leverage pulling the wire to fix the light, which happens to be right next to the jet pump. (See picture). Coincidence the jets stopped working immediately after Maui pools was at my home working on the spa light replacement? Do you want to do business with Maui pools? Never again for me. ---------------------------------- Response to owner: They had an opportunity to take the high road, instead they dug a deeper hole for themselves. 40 negative reviews out of 102...It is apparent their philosophy is to deny everything, admit nothing and make false allegations.I won't repeat all the concerns previouslyposted.However, I want to address a couple of public comments made by the owner. They mentioned the video camera and their request to see the video of their tech breaking the rocks. They made a lot of drama in their attempts to discredit me. Here's the bottom line, my public comments didn't mention anything about a camera. The only time this came up was after Peter escalated the conversation byresponding, "what's your point". Since he downplayed my concerns, I asked if it was going to take a video to prove to him that the spa rock feature wasn't damaged prior to install. They used that part of the conversation to try to discredit me.They then doubled down and made an attempt to publicly defaming me alleging that I was "inebriated/intoxicated" during the phone call with Peter. It's so hypocritical for them to use their "prove it" with video comments and then without concrete evidence they make a defaming false public comment. I hate to play their game but just for fun I will also ask for proof and request concrete evidence such as a blood alcohol result or a breathalyzer report to prove their allegation. The fact is, they can't. Hearsay or a "feeling" or "sounding like" or other made up stories are not an official result. Their comments are false and inappropriate. At this point, I will attempt to take the high road. Here goes: Stop with your baseless comments and twisted facts and you can move on with the money I paid you for the spa light. You're welcome. This company came out for a warranty claim on my spa heater. Came when I wasn't there and told my wife the heater is fine. I made it very clear that it shuts off periodically and never actually heats the spa up. They wrote a report saying it just needs routine maintenance. No it didn't. 3 years ago we had a pool built by Maui. Francisco supervised it and also made some recommendations. His ideas were spectacular, and something we never would've thought of. Since then, we have used Maui for weekly servicing. Occasionally, minor issues have arose. A simple call to Jen at Maui, who then usually within a day or two, will send a technician out to repair or fix. These people are so nice I can't describe. We were given Maui pools by our home warranty company to fix some problems we were having with our pool heater. Frankie was sent out to diagnose the issue and began to repair parts in the heater. Finally since the unit could not be fixed again he recommend a total replacement to the warranty company. The next week Frankie installed the new heater and went above and beyond with his craftsmanship replacing pipes and bringing other items up to code. We have used Maui for 6 years now and they are thorough, punctual, responsible and fairly priced. They do our twice-a-week cleaning, and have done a number of repairs. Maui is fairly priced, and honest about whether to replace and repair. In one case, we could repair or replace, and they advised to keep the existing part for perhaps another couple of years before the more expensive repair. Maui Pool Service was dispatched by Fidelity Home Warranty to diagnose and repair a problem with my pool heater. Not only did they misdiagnose the problem (as confirmed by 3 other licensed and insured pool service companies: G.H. Pool Construction, Rammell Construction, and Golden West Pool Repair), but they broke the plastic lid to the pool heater and refused to take responsibility for breaking it. Maui Pool Service originally diagnosed that my pool heater could not be fixed and needed to be replaced. And that due to it missing a certain part, replacement would not be covered by my home warranty policy. It took almost 2 months to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion and have Fidelity Home Warranty review their reports. Then Fidelity sent out a different vendor (Golden West Pool Repair) to re-diagnose the problem. All 3 re-diagnoses confirmed that the part was NOT missing. And Golden West Pool Repair actually repaired the heater and got it running again. I reported the shattered pool heater lid to Fidelity Home Warranty immediately after it occurred. It wasn't until Fidelity determined the pool heater did not need to be replaced that I was told to contact Maui Pool Service directly and arrange for them to replace the shattered lid. Well, back in 2020 our home warranty company sent Maui Pools out to install new pool equipment. Last Friday (10/21/22) the pool pump broke and wouldn't power up. I called Maui Pools to request someone come out to review and fix it. They confirmed the pump was installed in January 2020 but told me that I had to call the Home Warranty Company to schedule the repair. I explained that I no longer had the home warranty - I didn't renew it after the first year. I asked if the equipment would be under any warranty? However, I also explained that I realized this would most likely be an out of pocket expense. The woman who I was speaking with told me she would need to speak to her boss about how to handle this matter; she said she'd call me back. I didn't hear back, so I called again late that same day and left a message. No return call. On Monday morning, I called again and explained that I was aware this would be an out of pocket cost to repair, and that I needed to get someone on the schedule to repair it. She told me she was on another call and she would call me back in 45 minutes with a quote to do the repair. I never heard from her again. I texted my pool cleaning service and he asked around and found out there was a part that probably just needed to be changed in the pump. My pool cleaner bought the part from Leslie's pool supply and changed it out on Tuesday when he came to clean my pool. His part did the trick and my pump is now working again. No thanks to Maui Pools for completely ignoring me. If I were you, I wouldn't count on them to provide you good service. read more

I called American Home Shield to have somebody out to address an issue with my pool plumbing and spa. The tech was only able to fix the problem with my spa and the corresponding ball valves. He told me he'd need to speak with AHS and get approval to finish fixing my motor. I waited 4 weeks and finally upon receiving a day and time for the tech to show up I set aside what I expected would be 4 hours of my day. 30 minutes before my 4 hour window closed I received a call from the tech stating he need to help the owner move some furniture from her house. I ended up wasting an entire day waiting for this company to show up and fix my pool motor. Unprofessional - Yes Undependable - Yes Uncaring - Yes U should call somebody else - Yes And Jennifer, the owner of the company, is the one who called the tech to help her move while I sat waiting for somebody to repair my pool. Slow and bureaucratic work practices. Poor customer service. I was assigned via Old Republic. Initially good at scheduling and diagnosing. But once the (capable) technician determined the covered repair...problems! 1) After no follow-up by the technician despite texts and calls, I called the office the next day. Heather said repair was submitted for approval. Peggy at Old Republic said this work is "pre-approved for all vendors". She agreed to call Heather and "educate Maui/Heather about pre-approval." When I called Heather back she refused to honor Old Republic's pre-approval authorization and said all work had to have individual approval, "it's our process". All this before they will work on getting parts. This lack willingness to follow Old Republic's policies wasted two days and a lot of time and effort to get them moving on my end. 2) Agree that Heather and Jill (claimed to be the owner) demonstrated poor customer service skills ("if you needed it fast, you should have used your pool service people, not Old Republic", "If you don't like it, I can just cash you out right now!"). This just escalates a bad situation into an angry one. It's likely they are being told to "throttle back" service to home warranty customers, scheduling only when convenient. Then they falsely blame Old Republic's approval process for the slow, gated scheduling. Then, they get angry when you call them on it. Pretty shabby. read more

I've used them in the past- Frankie is the best at his job! They have stopped working with my warranty company, so I have a deal to pay them direct for a new filter and then get reimbursed by Choice. The problem? An office manager that will not co operate. The insurance company needs a statement from the tech ( I cannot fill out that form) on what exactly is wrong- she will not do it or let the tech do it.. Further -4 requests to speak with the owner have been ignored. Maybe he isn't being made aware of the issue? She is costing the company a 2500.00 job in serving her own agenda. HOW DO YOU STAY IN BUSINESS? . Made an appointment with Heather 8/26 for an appointment on 9/16. She told me they would call by 9:00 am on the day of the appointment with an ETA. 9/16 - No call 9:45 - Called and spoke with Heather. She said she would call the technician and call right back. 11:45 - No return call so I called and... surprise. Received a voicemail. Left a message 12:45 - Called and left another message 2:45 - Called and received the voicemail - Hung up 3:45 - Called and received the voicemail - Hung up 4:45 - Called for the 4th time and Heather answered. I identified myself by name and she was clueless as to why I was calling. Short memory I guess and either ignores her messages or doesn't bother to listen to them. Very professional. I asked for the owner and she transferred me to Jen. I explained the above chain of events. She said the work order showed my appointment between 12-4. Nice of Heather to tell me this, but the issue is that it is NOW 4:45 AND NOBODY SHOWED UP OR CALLED. She IM'd the tech and he gave her some lame excuse about trying to reach me and the call never connected. This is total BS as I received multiple calls all day. Even so, that is still no reason for Heather ignoring me and not calling with an update as promised SEVEN HOURS EARLIER. I expressed how annoyed I was and how this WASTED my WHOLE DAY. Her response was, "You're not the first". Seriously... that was her response. Well here is my response... You have really pissed me off and lost a customer. He shot me a text confirming it was broken and 10 days later they never sent in the report and won't answer any calls or texts back. Maui pool convinced me rather to simply change a light in my pool to replace 2 at $575 each with LED's. Told me 10,000 hours, cheap to operate etc. so i went for it. They installed Jandy brand LED's. one went out (flickering) within a year with maybe 20 hours tops and the other went (flickering) after warranty over. That light prob had 30 hours as seasonal home. Maui pools sold me defective products and needs to stand behind them. $1100 of junk on the pool wall. Manufacturer says bad installation. I hate this stuff. read more

My home warranty company sent this company out to repair my pool. When they arrived, they took a look at the problem, and told me the warranty didn't cover the repair. They gave me a price that was double what my regular pool guy said he would charge, so I told Maui Pools I didn't want the repair. A couple hours after they left, the pool motor was making a very loud noise and the jacuzzi was completely drained. I called my pool guy, who came out immediately, and said Maui Pools had switched the actuators in the wrong position, and if it had been that way much longer, the pool motor would have burnt out. I considered calling the police to file a vandalism charge, but since there didn't seem to be any permanent damage, thought simply notifying the public about this company would suffice.
