Handel's Pool Service is the absolute best!! From concept to completion, they are a professional, reliable, hard-working Team of craftspeople who know their stuff. Handel and Jaquelin came in and talked to us about our needs and our budget and delivered the most beautiful pool and landscaping that we could ever have imagined, on time and on budget! They are great people with over 30 years of experience in the pool industry and are here to oversee the project from start to finish. I have mobility issues and Handel was able to give me specialized pool steps and a heavy-duty rail so I am able to access the pool by myself. Such care and detail to a Customer's specialized needs is truly quite amazing. We would very highly recommend Handel's Pool Service for any pool and spa needs. Good service but I wanted to let everyone know that there are multiple sex offenders that work for Handel's Pool Service

Handel turned our dirt backyard into a dream desert oasis. Handel and his crew were efficient and methodical in completing each phase of the construction. His team handles a 15' x 33' foot pool and 7' x 7' spa, a built in bbq, flat work, turf, landscaping, and landscape lighting. His crew knows how to do anything you might need to turn your project into the yard of your dreams. Handel is easy to talk to, and will go out of his way to make sure you are happy, and everything is handled in the most efficient professional way possible. Pool contractors are notorious for saying one thing, then doing another, or gouging you on any changes you make; not Handel. He and his team are so well put together, that little changes here and there are not a big deal for them. It's no small amount of money to put in a pool/spa/turf/landscape/bbq, but Handel made the process a breeze and finished my project in very efficient amount of time. Please see pictures for details. read more

BEWARE!!!!! I too posted a previous good review pages long because Handel responded quickly, and did a very nice job with the exception of the side concrete that was layed with shadow spots. His dismissive behavior in correcting those spots that were due to poor pouring should have been my first clue to what was coming. Now less than 2 years later. My pool deck is cracking. I contacted Handel and submitted pictures because I wasn't sure what was happening. I got no response. I took down my prior excellent review and gave a reason why and still no response!! I have contacted numerous vendors who came to see his work and they ALL told me to contact him to fix it and that he should still warrant his work and patch it being due to efflorescence that could be due to the way work was previously done. So here I am again texting him with pics and requesting a response to get this patched. Heck! I even said for a small fee! Other vendors said he shouldn't charge me for it!! They also said that I should contact the Contractors Board if he still doesn't want to fix it. I just didn't want to bother with him anymore, but the last vendor was insistent that I do it because he felt I was being taken advantage of. So now after sending another pic and message, I am waiting to see if I get a response before going to the Contractors Board. The amount of money you are paying for work in your backyard, I would highly recommend you read reviews from vendors that have fixed mistakes after the fact. Not just positive reviews. Character and true customer service comes when there is a problem, and how that vendor handles it. Not when everything first looks great. Don't risk being ignored if something goes wrong. read more

Handel is known for handling business. No pun intended. I am so happy I went to Handel and not Tessera. I felt the entire time I was dealing with a rep constantly trying to up sell and not giving me a clear price. I met Handle and loved how honest he was and willing to go the extra mile to make my vision come true! I think my country club now has the best pool on the block. His team was amazing, sharp, detailed, and fast! My pool was done in less than 6 weeks and Handel stopped by to check on the project on daily basis. I have never seen someone so on top of things while juggling different pool projects. Thank you for the great quality of work. My fiancé and I can't thank you enough. read more

Handel and his team are the BEST!!! From the start I knew we had chosen the right company. I told Handel what we wanted the pool to look like. Within a week we had computer generated photos of our pool. From start to finish the job was fantastic. All the different crew's were on time and cleaned up when the day was done. Which was very important due to I live in a gated community. Handle was available by phone and in person when we had questions during construction. When it was time to pick out tile and pool finish, he met us at the showroom. He gave us his professional opinion on our choices and in the end we are extremely happy. Handel, his brothers and all the crew get 5 stars form me and my family. Really looking forward to summer and all the good times ahead. So if your looking for a swimming pool contractor who is honest, on time, and truly cares about you the customer. Handle is your guy !!!! read more

How does this....become THAT???? Handel, that's how. He is amazing. When he told us that it would be done in 8-10 weeks, I thought, ok, but how is that possible? He is a Superman, with a Super Crew! He went above and beyond for us. He tiled the outside of our spa because that was what would make it stand out vs just the stucco that was the original plan. I am in awe of him. When I asked for a built in BBQ, he delivered more than I could have imagined. We wanted very simple and something that wouldn't take away too much of the patio, and it is just perfect! I am literally brought to tears everytime I hope the curtains. Never did I imagine I could own my own little Desert Resort in my own backyard! read more

After 13 months of spending $15,000 for new pool deck the plaster is crumbling and falling into pool, and the tile is separating from pool. I tried calling several different numbers and the mailbox is full on them all. I had the same problem a year ago when trying to reach them. They need better service communicating, and I see no excuse for pool plaster falling.apart after 13 months. read more

AMAZING service AMAZING contractor. First we went with another contractor after finding out that our paper work was not turned in to the city of Indio we quickly contacted Handle's pool service and got the ball rolling. We broke ground on November 1st and the pool and back yard was completed December 30. Amazing, professional, and honest everything that was promised and delivered, we were so happy that we had Handles construct our BBQ, and putting green thank you for your great work will definitely recommend you in the future. read more

We hired Handel because we had a budget and design and he was able to provide everything we requested and suggested improvements within our budget and without changing our design. Something other Pool companies weren't able to provide. Handel's team was amazing, professional and very knowledgeable. Jose his foreman always answered his calls and made sure everything went smoothly. Jose and his team were also very helpful and did an excellent job. We highly recommend Handel's Pool Service! We were close to finalizing a contract with a very large established company to build a new pool, spa and decking but we realized that we wouldn't get the personal attention that we needed. After doing some research, we were fortunate enough to find Handel's Pool Service right here on Yelp. Handel personally answered his phone on New Years Day (which in itself was remarkable) and within 2 weeks he already started on the pool. Handel took care of every detail from design to completion with professionalism and thoroughness. The end result was a spectacular pool and spa that completely transformed our home into a desert oasis. Handel is a man of his word that ensures his clients are completely satisfied. We are happy to provide a reference should anyone have any questions. Thank you so much Handel for all of your hard work and attention to detail, we truly appreciate it! read more

I shopped around and did some research online to find the most reputable builder and I found Handel's Pool. I'm so happy I did The employees were professional, knowledgeable and meticulous. The team kept to the quoted construction timeline. In fact, they completed work within three months! The end product surpassed my expectations. Handle's Pool does quality, beautiful work. I would refer them to any friend who was looking to put in a new pool or spa. The quality is a direct reflection of the owner, who was honest, accessible and friendly. read more

We chose Handel's Pool Service based upon the 5-star YELP rating.  We were NOT disappointed.  Handel's Pool finished work ahead of schedule.  Handel's Pool did exactly what they said they would do.  Handel Caballero is very professional.  His price was very competitive.  We would definitely recommend him to friends and use his services again.  We had the pool resurfaced with pebble stone and shallowed the deep end.  We also had two new LED lights installed.  Handel's Pool carefully dug under the concrete deck to install the wiring for the new lights.  His team did a great job and cleaned up daily.  Handel worked with us very closely and patiently to select a color and a texture.  We are very satisfied.  Thanks Handel for a job well done! read more

I had multiple estimates and Handel wasnt the cheapest or the most expensive but he gives you a good vibe when you talk to him. I had a new construction salt water pool with a spa, wireless remote and bubblers installed also a pit for all my equipment. I don't have a lot of space to work with. From start to finish he was here making sure everything was done just right. The pool and spa came out better then I expected. When they were done everything was clean and that's also important. read more

I had previously left a five star review of Handel's pools as he did a great job on my pool, really liked how it turned out. However I made the mistake of releasing the final payment too soon before he finished. The company left my pavers covered on plaster and didn't finish the blick wall around the pool equipment. Now he doesn't answer our calls or texts snd it's been months. 3 pools were built on my street after mine and how disappointing they couldn't come and finish up these details. Lesson learned. read more

We had our pool pebble teched a few years ago by Handel's Pool Service. They did an excellent job. Their price was reasonable, they were on time and finished the job in a timely manner. Their guidance on color for the pebbles was spot on and the quality of the workmanship was superior. We continue to enjoy the look of our pool everyday. I highly recommend this company! read more

If your looking to remodel your pool, look no further. Handel is absolutely the best contractor I've come across! I called Handel to make an appointment and get an estimate. He returned my call promptly, showed up on the date we scheduled, he was on time and came prepared with tile and pebble tech samples. He wasn't the least expensive and he wasn't the most expensive. We discussed my budget, how to get the most with what I could afford, and he even took me to the pool supply to take a look at more samples. He really wanted me to get have a pool I loved. His customer service is outstanding. Hired him that day. This is the best part! My pool was demo'd completely and finished in less than a week! I have several friends whose pools took several weeks to even a couple of months to be completed. Sunday drained the pool, Monday all tile and old cement Jack hammered out. Tuesday all the new tile done. Wednesday a new filter and light. Thursday cement and pebble Tec. Friday, acid wash and the pool is filling up. Saturday pool party! My old pool hadn't been remodeled or touched up in more than 25 years. My new pool is gorgeous and I absolutely love it! Handle took pictures of the work being done and text them to me throughout each day while I was at work. He is in constant communication with you, he adjusts and fixes anything you want because he wants you to love it, not just like it. Every day between 4 and 9 workers came, worked and left my yard clean. They are polite, very conscious of HOA sound rules and cleanliness. Hire this licensed contractor and no one else. Truly superior work, professionalism and a man of his word. The pool looks so good, now I have to find someone to do my deck. read more

I'm a little disappointed in Handel's pool construction. Love the design and working with him however I've had a lot of problems with the electrical wiring system. I called Pentair and they sent someone out to figure out the New LED color lighting system. They told me that many of the wires were not wired correctly and were in the wrong locations etc. When Handles's tile guy installed the tile he had to be called back because there were many many areas of grout that did not set up leaving many gaps in the grout line. He had to lower the water level of the pool and regrout over. Now there are more grout, get in the pool and regrout areas they have not been fully filled in or sealed correctly. As of late water has gotten underneath several tiles and algae formed. Tiles have now fallen off. This should not happen with a pool that's only two years old. read more

If only ZERO stars were an option. Handel flat out lies, doesn't follow plans, hires incompetent employees, threatens and intimidates his own customers, and is well-known for delays that go on and on without any explanation. He avoids communication, doesn't answer texts or calls and demands advance payment even though he is months behind on his own contractual deadlines. Even worse, after he leaves (without cleaning up or even finishing his job) you will have to hire others and pay to fix his many mistakes. RUN, don't walk away from this very shady and incompetent builder! read more

Handel showed up to our appointment up on time and wearing a mask. We had read many of his reviews on Yelp and were hoping he would be as honest in person as he was described online. He listened to our concerns, asked some questions, checked out our pool, gave us his honest opinion, and then showed us some options for when we are ready to resurface our pool. He was honest and forthcoming about the condition of our pool (mostly cosmetic issues with plaster and tiles), but didn't try to pressure us into getting work done yet. We will definitely be keeping Handel's number handy for when our pool really needs . read more

Handel completed a pool and spa project for us from start to finish. What an unbelievable job Handel and his crew have done! They completed all of the demolition and remodeling work in less than a week. The process from start to finish was professional, and Handel communicated consistently with us throughout. During the first meeting, he made suggestions, and later, took the time to show us options at a local pool showroom. His crew installed a beautiful blue pebble with traces of abalone shells and tile around the perimeter. Looks amazing! We were excited to write this review as we couldn't be more happy with the results. Handel and his crew are truly masters at their craft. read more

Very poor service and communication. Ground breaking was in July 21 and the project is still not finished. After repeated texts, calls, and emails I still do not have answers. Why the 1 star review: 1. Job started in June of 21', its Feb 1 and the job is still not completed. 2. Beer bottles and trash left all over my jobsite during concrete and gunite pour (I have pictures) 3. I, the homeowner, have had to pay for debris removal and job clean up (landscaping removal, leftover gunite and concrete, wood forms, etc) 4. After 60 days, the concrete decking is already cracking (I have pictures) 5. POOR, POOR, POOR communication. Rarely answers phone, 1 out of 10 texts replied to, various emails... 6. In contract it states "estimated project to be completed 8 - 10 weeks after ground breaking". Ground breaking took place in July of 21' (6 months ago). 7. Handel was paid on time and in full at the required times (my fault for not using payment as leverage sooner) 8. During pool prep, they dug up and destroyed part of our underground irrigation system. I mentioned this and have not received a reply, nor a fix. Again, I had to fix on my dime to prevent vegetation from dying. 9. This is the part that bothers me the most. Every single time to make progress on the project I've had to hunt down Handel and team. I've had to make threats, etc. I'm the customer! I would not recommend Handel and team and if you read the reviews you will see a pattern of behavior. I will be contacting the BBB, City of LaQuinta (where permit was issued), Contractors Board, and possibly taking legal action if I do not receive a refund for services not rendered or immediately reconciled. read more

We arrived to our La Quinta winter home, only to discover that our pool heater was not working. We were lucky enough to see a review of Handel's Pool Service, and gave them a call. Handel and his team were incredible - this is one of the smoothest home improvement experiences I have ever had. From the first visit, Handel was so professional. He arrived on time, and spent over two hours with us (even before we gave him the job) going over options and design, all the while working within our budget. He was also able to give us a quote on the spot for new pebble finish, tile, Kool Deck pool surround, two new water features, a salt water system, and a remote-controlled valve and heater system. The construction process was also extremely smooth. Handel and his crew started within a few days of receiving the go-ahead, and finished everything in under two weeks. Everything was flawless and the site was nicely cleaned up. We are so happy with our new pool! read more

Don't fall for his promises! Handel was hired to redo our pool based on his experience & prior reviews. He subs out all the work to other local contractors and was never around to monitor or oversee the work being done. Several items were left incomplete or incorrect (missing tile, clogged jets, leftover debris). Still, after many months now he has never responded to our requests to come back to and finish the work. We have been forced to hire other contractors to finish the project. He was only quick to send his invoices & collect payments. Obviously, his final invoice remains unpaid. read more
