I always hesitate to write "bad" reviews but I believe this one is very much needed. I came here Saturday afternoon on 4/4 around 5:30 with my family & was attended by a young girl who told another customer she's been working here for two years. Which I have never seen her before. This girl has ZERO customer service & not generous at all. She never once smiled at any other customers and her attitude was as if she doesn't like her job. Made every encounter with the rest of the customers AKWARD. She never once thanked any customer for their business. The menus were down which we understand but she showed no interest in helping the customer while ordering. We came here late in the evening on a Monday night around 8ish. They close at 9pm. Menu is pretty straightforward, like most hawaiian bbq places. I love the Kalbi and the bbq beef, so that's what we ordered. We also got a plate that had chicken in it as well. The person at the front was very kind and even offered to bring us water with lids for our kids. At first glance, portions are very generous. We got two plates, and it fed a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 kids all 4 and under. We were also provided with sauce for it. Once we started chowing down, the taste was, unfortunately, underwhelming. It needed more flavor, so we used the sauce, but the sauce had started to coagulate, so it was more of like a gravy.. the sauce didn't make it that much better.. overall, everything just tasted okay.. The inside was clean, and there were plenty of seats. I was just disappointed in the taste of the food.. I placed an order over the phone for: bbq chicken Saimin, Katsu chicken musubi and a combo bbq plate and the guy over the phone was super friendly and gave me the estimated total and the estimated time when the food would be done. When we showed up 15 minutes later to pick up our food, all the food was already packaged and ready with extra hot sauce, teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce- amazing service! I bought a couple of Hawaiian sun drinks to have with our dinner and that made it perfection. The owner of the restaurant rang me up and he was super friendly! I really enjoyed the chicken katsu because the chicken cutlet was thin and the katsu itself wasn't greasy at all. I loved the savory saimin soup with bok choy, carrots and broccoli - I really felt like I was getting a well balanced, delicious meal with the bbq chicken saimin bowl. The macaroni salad was just the right amount of cold and creamy and the bbq ribs had just the right amount of sauce. The ambiance is very casual - there's enough chairs for a couple of families and couples. Hawaiian BBQ is one of my favorite foods of all time, although depending on where it's made the meat could often be over seasoned and dry. I definitely have to give the Westminster location a review because it sets itself apart from the other locations! The interior of the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating if you decide to dine in. There was only one young man working the register and one cook in the back. The service was great as the cashier was very patient and asked us how we were doing. Since we came in the evening the restaurant was relatively empty. Our food came out in a matter of minutes though When opening the plate I was happy to see that the meat rice and salad were plated nicely! My biggest issue with Hawaiian BBQ is that sometimes the meat comes out hard, burnt, or even overcooked but I thought that this meat was cooked to perfection. The galbi and teriyaki chicken was cooked to perfection. So tender and Juicy. Overall, this location does not fail to disappoint me in terms of service, and quality!
