A bad experience. What is it with today's employment agencies? Boy, how times have changed. Back in the day, agencies cared about the applicant and were quick to send you out on interviews or assignments. Today it is all about numbers and poor follow up. Agencies really don't care about the unemployed, rather they focus on the client side of things...which makes some sense, but they are middlemen...applicants should be just as important. But after reading the glowing reviews for Mattson, I came in hopeful. Interviewed with Beth Bransky about 8 months ago for a position. Never heard back from her after being presented other than "employers are very picky these days". Should I be insulted? Also, since we have *supposedly* such low unemployment, shouldn't the power shift to the applicant a bit? Anyway, no interview with the employer...nothing. I just chalked it up to the usual BS I have experienced with other employment agencies (like AppleOne, The Creative Group and Robert Half, for example). Same crap, different day. Cut to a month or so ago, I try to reconnect with Beth after seeing 6 jobs on their website that I am easily qualified for. After leaving numerous messages over a week's time, I got no response. Finally, after telling the receptionist the situation, she put me on hold and apparently spoke to Beth who said she DID get my messages and will call me the next day. She did not call the next day. I called the following day and the receptionist told me, naturally, that Beth was out until Monday. She gave me the option to speak with Lori Singer, the VP. Of course, she was out too. I did leave a message for her, however. She did call me back the next week and explained to me in a patronizing tone that my experience (Maketing Mangement, Accounts Payables, Creative, Admin, etc.) was too specialized. WTF?? Seriously, what job or resume can you not say that about? What about the quality of the candidate? What about the duty to represent the applicant in good faith and to find them a job? What about pitching an applicant such as myself as 'diverse and multi-skilled'? So many possibilities. To close, I honestly don't know how Mattson and other similar agencies stay in business. They don't communicate, they don't nurture or respect the applicant/agency relationship, and they have no empathy for the unemployed. At the end of the day, Mattson is just another agency that touts service and deliverables, but in the end, leaves applicants frustrated and displeased. Not recommended. read more

I went through numerous agencies with little luck at all. I did not expect much since I was trying to find a full-time position in a different industry than my previous experience. I worked with Vi Luong when I went through Mattson Resources. She was very honest and engaging in regards to narrowing down positions that fit my interests. Although there were not any positions present at the time being, she was consistent in contacting me every single week on new positions that she had available for me if I were interested. When she presented a position to me roughly 2-3 weeks later, I was able to get a position that I truly love and enjoy. She is very genuine in telling me what is realistic to look for considering my qualifications. In addition, once I got the position, she continued to go the extra mile with asking me how I liked my first week and if I had a questions for her. Contrary to many different agencies, I had a pleasant experience with Mattson Resources. Other agencies, in my experience, will almost try to convince you that they can place you with a great opportunity with filler positions that are minimum wage just to fill their quotas. This company may have good recruiters, however, Leslie Peterson is NOT one. I am relocating back to CA and was in town for only 3 days. She called and I was obliged to come into the office. We had a nice chat, and she mentioned there was an in house position i'd be "perfect" for and just HAD to apply for. However, her boss couldn't meet with me until later and I had an appointment so I agreed to come back to Costa Mesa from Newport later that day after commuting from San Clemente. Upon returning to the office a second time I met with her boss/owner who didn't even interview me, just stared at me awkwardly and asked me about myself and chucked me back to Leslie to discuss the position....um ok? Then why did I just bend over backwards to come back then? I was informed I would receive assessment testing, which I never received and only had follow up from Leslie because I initiated it myself. I never received the testing even after providing an alternate email and nothing, no communication. I was only informed after sending a complaint to the company the position had been filled since I couldn't send back the testing that i never received, so basically I wasted an entire afternoon at a company that has no idea what they are doing. Fantastic. On top of that, i was transparent from the beginning that I was in AZ and needed to be able to do phone and Skype interviews. She knew this and waited until I had wasted my entire day to work around their schedule to tell me....."Oh, none of my clients will do that, but you can drive up here." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I can't fathom how she has a job seeing as placing candidates are their life blood and income! In an attempt to be fair, I attempted to email the company and express the issue however, all I received in response was BS excuses and incoherent jibberish. I told them I would be happy to work with another recruiter and shocker.....they NEVER got back to me. If you are looking for someone to lie to your face and shamelessly waste your time by all means, check this place out! read more

When I first signed with Mattson my recruiter was Lori Singer and she landed me a week and a half gig which I was greatful for. She was amazing and even followed up with me over the phone on my first day to make suer I liked the position and everything went A Okay. She later called about a one day gig which I could not make but later on about a few weeks later I emailed her and asked for an update, that I really needed something quick and if she has anything to pitch. At this time I stopped receiving unemployment benefits and I started freeaking out. I haven't heard from her since and this was about 4 months ago. This is very strage because she was so helpful before but now I am with another great agency who is on top of it and I am now with a long term job now. I have nothing but the best to say about Mattson Resources. As a recent graduate, I was doing my best to try to find work but was having a bit of trouble due to lack of experience. I've dealt with other recruiters before and they were very impersonal. They didn't really care about my needs or what I was looking for. I was already employed but was in a dead end job with no advancement. Matteson Resources was a good experience. I worked with Carlos Ruiz. He's very well spoken, professional and provided great tips on interviewing. It had been 5yrs since I had to search for a job. There was a few things that caught my attention. One - it took him almost two weeks to get an interview with only one company. It was like they didn't have enough jobs. Two - I was discouraged when he wanted to try to get my former employer to use their services. Three - when I went to meet with him the receptionist was rude. I had the absolute worst experience ever! I had Beth Bransky as my recruiter for three years with no results. I had a good paying, stable job but worked nights and weekends. She got me an interview with a M-F job that seemed good, but upon getting hired I was bait-and-switched! The company immediately added on other (not ever previously discussed) full-time job duties to my work load, so I was doing a ton of extra work for different departments but getting paid the same! I called Beth multiple times with these concerns and told her this did not seem legitimate, etc, and she told me to stick it out. (Yeah, because all she cared about was getting her commission!) The real kicker is that I called and emailed her, as I need a different job, and she will not get back to me! I sent emails to customer service and the HR department of Mattson Resources hoping to get a different recruiter, or speak to a manger or someone in charge about this abysmal experience, with NO responses.
