Came here on a Friday at noon right after Christmas. There wasn't a ton of rush but there were people in and out getting food to go! More of a casual restaurant vibe but enough tables with enough seating for multiple groups of different sizes, with plenty of room. Our waiter was very friendly, came and took our order after we took a while to decide. We weren't sure if we had enough food but our waiter said he thought we had enough but he left us a menu just in case. And he was very correct. The street food appetizer came out around the same time as pork belly. I loved the street food platter, particularly the rolls. The pork belly was also good, it just isn't usually my favorite item. Next came out a huge pile of fried pork, much much larger than we expected and very welcome. This along with the sauce it came with tasted great! And last we got our chicken adobo, which was probably my favorite item after the street food platter. Overall food was delicious, service was fast and good, and if you want some Filipino food you won't go wrong here!

Came here for the first time to try a Kamayan for a friends birthday and it was spectacular. The table was pre dressed with the banana leaves prior to us arriving and the food was placed around the time we all arrived. When the food was being placed, there was an art behind how it was displayed and prior to eating, we were provided a little history lesson about the components on the table from sauces to the meats. This hole in wall provided a homey vibe with what reminded me of the elders yelling in the kitchen while everyone else sat in the living room chatting. The staff was very accommodating to our group and while we were unaware of when they closed, they never rushed us out. Definitely would try a Kamayan again and would definitely check this place out again.

Open three days a week, You have to visit if in the area on one of those days. We got the chicken adobo, pork sisig, a few rices and halo halos. Check was around 77$. The food is good but the price is fairly high. Lots of big take out orders for party's so the staff kind of try's to be helpful when they are free. The restaurant has had an update since I last visited years ago.

You would never think Filipino food with a name like this. But man the food is pretty good! We also had a fish ball appetizer and one with fried tofu and pork belly. That was way too much food for 2 adults and an 11yr old. The fried fish was really well cooked and tasty. The bbq pork skewers were outstanding. My son devoured them with rice. The egg rolls are really tasty and well fried, not soggy and oily. Next time we will order less to save room for desserts that we couldn't try!! Only open Fri-Sun. Parking is easy. The people who work there are very friendly.

Wonderful restaurant with delicious Filipino food. Coming in, my wife and I noticed that it was quite busy, so if you have a party of 4 or more, definitely call to make a reservation beforehand. Being a party of 2 on a Saturday we were promptly seated. Being Filipino, it was a very homey feel when being spoke to in Tagalog. Otherwise, the place is very clean and inviting. The food definitely stands out the most to me. It came out quickly and nice and fresh. The pork bbq was simple and yet flavorful. The sizzling sisig came in a large portion, definitely for 2 or more people. It had a nice and crispy texture, but each bite packed with flavor. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

Matthew's grill is a Filipino restaurant located at the Festival at Muddy Branch strip mall. They are only open Friday to Sunday. Service is fast and friendly giving you that hometown feel. Servings are decent, big enough to share with 3 people. Food is cooked fresh daily. We ordered the binukadkad na tilapia, caldereta , Sisig and ending with the halo halo and turon with ube ice cream. The caldereta was a bit bland for me and the halo halo was ok. My favorites were the fish, Sisig and turon.

Was checking the area where we can get good food before heading to our destination somewhere in Rockville. As a foodie I always check ratings and yes I must say it's a great place for Filipino food. The place was clean, staff and even the owner were awesome. The food oh absolutely worth it... if I'm in the area I will make sure I stop here and so should you. The more the merrier.

This spot is an absolute gem! It was easy to miss but I'm so happy I found it. It's very quaint yet bustling and seems to be a really popular spot. There are some great options on the menu and the prices and portions are great. We ordered Crispy Calamari and Chicharon for apps and followed with Matt's Crispy Pata and Sizzling Pork Sisig for entrees. Dessert was Sonia's Halo-Halo. The Crispy Calamari was really yummy and battered well and the squid was nice and soft and tender. Overall, an 8/10. The Chicharon was very crunchy and crispy. It was well made and was a great app to snack on. Overall, an 8/10. Matt's Crispy Pata was delicious! The pork was tender and well made and seemed to fall off the bone. I enjoyed it and it was a 10/10 for me. The winner was the Sizzling Pork Sisig, which was absolutely fantastic! It had bits of chopped chicken liver, which enhanced the taste of the crispy pork belly. It was such a delicious dish that I was tempted to order even more. Overall, an 11/10 and a MUST-TRY! The Halo-Halo was delicious and not overly sweet. It tasted like standard Halo-Halo and I enjoyed it. It was a 10/10. This was such a great spot and the staff was amazing and attentive. We met Jumbo, who is the chef, and he was wonderful. We also met Reymond, the owner, who was very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this spot if you live in the area or find yourself around the area as we did. Such tasty food with generous serving for great prices!

It's a Saturday night and I check the time to see that Matthew's grill closes in ONE HOUR. We hastily get our stuff together to leave the house and head to the highly anticipated Matthew's Grill. The moment we took those first bites of each dish, the happy food dancing and smiles on our faces commenced. We looked at each other with a "oh that's GUUD" smirk. We have been wanting to try out Matthew's grill for years! But we always miss our chance because we only decide to go when they are not open. They don't have conventional hours, so be sure to check their hours in advance to make sure you can make it in time! I believe the manager told us that on the weekdays that they are open, it's only for carry out now, but they are open for dine in on the weekend. We arrived just 30 mins before they closed and they welcomed us with open arms anyway, with the disclaimer that we had to put in our entire order at once since the kitchen was closing soon! The food was delicious! The sisig was VERY good. I also really enjoyed the pancit as well! We also got lumpia, lechon kawali and kare kare. It was all plenty and delicious! The staff was very friendly. The plates come out as family style, so keep that in mind when ordering! The portions are large and amongst the four of us, we have PLENTY to take home for leftovers. I was happy to have finally tried this place and am excited to go back whenever I'm craving good Filipino food!

Family loves to order lumpia, pancit and spaghetti about once a month and my father is picky about what he eats so it has to be good Filipino comfort food. The staff is friendly and it is a nice family friendly spot. My favorite two things from them are their turon and buko pandan because I have a ridiculous sweet tooth.

Came for a party and had the kamayan feast! Everything was so delicious! My favorite was the lumpia, pork ribs, and fried fish. Highly recommend !

Ask the Community - Matthew's Grill

Do you serve lunch and dinner buffet?

Hello Brian! Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately we don't do buffets anymore unless it's for private parties.

Is the sisig on a hot plate for dine in 2021?

I think you could ask for a plate, but when I got it, the food was served on to go packages with paper plates for dine in. That was about mid-2021.

For the boodle fight, it's $30pp.. is it the same price for kids (what age?)

Hi! It's actually free of charge for kids 3 and under. Kids above 3 are same as adults.

How much is the weekend buffet for children? Is it $18 like for the adults?

The weekend price for an 8 year old child is $9. A 15 year old child pays full price which is $18.

Someone said this place is closed down. Is that true?

No, they are still open they are close on Monday and Tuesday but open on Wednesday-Sunday. Definitely worth checking out.

I will say prepare a budget cause there's a lot to get, I ended up spending around $40 for everything I got. Let's start with the beef lumpia. It was crispy and tasted pretty good. I'm a sucker for spice so I would've loved it to be a little spicier or maybe offer some chili oil on the side. Next is the star of the show, the lechon kawaii bowl. The pork is so tender and perfectly crispy! I added garlic rice instead of the usual which was a great addition. I asked to try their vinegar sauce which comes with garlic and jalapeño in it which I found to be amazing. Lastly, the taro milk tea is heavenly, I'm still thinking about it!!! The service was friendly and because it was my first time they even offered me a coupon for the next time I come back and I will definitely be back! Plenty of indoor seating as well with a whole market inside where you can find an assortment of Filipino food, snacks, drinks, and desserts.

Sisig, pass. It was too spicy and also dry. We do like the grocery section. The service is nice and the Ube shake is great. Will be happy to return for grocery needs, but not the restaurant. Food seemed rushed, out of a can, unfresh and not worth the high prices. We will cook Filipino dishes at home instead.

Just faaaaannnnnttttasssiiiicccc. I'm big on bread and it was so soft. It was served on a toasted roll along with big pieces of pork with a skin that was so crispy and crackling to complement the juicy meat. The portions were huge, which surprised me. Everything is such small portions these days but it was worth the cost. You have a choice between fries and chips. The chips were not home made so I opted for the fries. They also gave me a side of sauce, which almost tasted like Big Mac sauce? The arugula also adds on to the taste. My biggest regret was not getting two! A tip is you can call ahead and place your order. If you're in a rush, just call ahead. It looked like a nice sit down establishment as well.

I saw people carrying milkshakes but I couldn't find any on the menu. I ordered staff favorites Lechon kawali bowl. It came with garlic rice, sweet longanisa, a fried egg, and the signature Crispy port belly. It was good, but the garlic rice needed more flavor, because only a little sweet longanisa was added, I had to ask for extra sauce to finish the meal. Although friends vouched for the delicious food, but I found pork belly was just ok. And overall needs a bit more flavor. I also had Une custard cake which was too sweet for me.
