Dr. Namazie was kind and…read moreprofessional, and we appreciated the time he spent evaluating her and discussing potential surgical options. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by the billing experience. During the consultation, Dr. Namazie examined the inside of my daughter's nose. I later received a bill for a separately billed nasal endoscopy, which I had no idea was being performed during the consultation. The paperwork I signed stated that there could be an additional charge if a nasal endoscopy was performed. However, I did not understand that the routine examination taking place during the consultation would be considered a separately billable procedure. At no point during the visit was it explained that a separate procedure was about to be performed or that it would result in an additional charge. I've taken my daughter to several other rhinoplasty consultations with surgeons in Los Angeles and have never been charged either a consultation fee or a separate procedural fee for the examination. Because of those prior experiences, I reasonably assumed that examining the inside and outside of her nose was simply part of the consultation. I contacted the office afterward to explain the misunderstanding, but I was told that because I had signed the consent form, I was responsible for the charge. While I understand their position, I wish there had been clearer communication before the procedure was performed so I could have made an informed decision. I was also hoping to see before-and-after photos of the surgeon's rhinoplasty patients, as every other consultation we attended included them. None were shown during our visit, which made it more difficult to evaluate whether this was the right surgeon for my daughter. I'm sharing this experience so other patients know to ask whether any examination performed during a consultation will be billed as a separate procedure and whether there will be any additional out-of-pocket costs before consenting.

Let me first state that my review has more to do with Dr. Bublik's practice in general than him…read morepersonally. I have no doubt the positive experiences shared by others are accurate. My personal experience was unfortunately akin to asking for a vaccine and instead being injected with the disease. Literally! I work in music and the custom earplugs I wear combined with naturally producing a lot of ear wax leaves me susceptible to ear infections. For years now I have made a habit of visiting an ENT to have ear wax removed about every 6 months to prevent it from getting impacted. My previous ENT no longer accepted my insurance, and Dr. Bublik's high ratings and convenient location from my office led me to his. The result of the shoddy work done on my ears gave me an infection. How's that for irony. It's a multi-practice office and when I arrived on time for my appointment there was no one else in the waiting room. Only one other patient arrived and was seen promptly by another doctor presumably while I waited about 30 minutes to be shown to a room by a nurse. She asked me a few questions and then had me wait another 10 minutes to see an associate of Dr. Bublik's who asked me several of the same questions and others and then took out a metal instrument to remove wax. Historically when I see an ENT, they use a vacuum to suck out all if not most of the wax. If anything is stubborn, then the tool the associate had in his hand is used only for any remaining debris. That the tool was used right from the outset meant they didn't have a vacuum, or so I thought. The associate proceeded to pull out wax of my left and right ear. It's a pointy metal stick being inserted into the ear canal, so it can be uncomfortable and nervy at times, particularly if you lose trust in the person on the other end. The inside of my right ear was nicked enough times by several different sized instruments before the associate decided he better leave the rest to Dr. Bublik. The doctor came in and immediately offered a much more confident hand. Even still, upon completion, he asked if I could stay for a few more minutes because they had a vacuum that could suck out any remaining debris! I couldn't believe it. So they jammed the vacuum in my ear too, sucked out a bit more, and Bublik came back in and said all was good. At this point, the nurse hands me a cotton ball and says bleeding is normal and the doctor writes me a prescription for Ofloxacin, the exact same medication I took all the time years ago to get rid of ear infections. Only this time, it was caused by several doctors and a nurse putting instruments in my ear for a good part of half an hour. As for bleeding - no it is not normal. Sure I imagine it isn't abnormal in general for ear problems, but I've never had a single instance of blood, or even a suggestion that I would experience any blood secreting out of my ear over dozens of similar appointments from multiple ENT's. Within minutes of leaving the office, my right ear was plugged and I knew I had an infection. Some latent tinnitus becomes very apparent and loud let me tell you when I have an infection too. So lots of ringing. I didn't experience any blood at that time and threw away the cotton ball. Lo and behold, 3 1/2 hours after my appointment, a stream of blood starting coming out of my ear. I would have absolutely freaked out if I hadn't been told to expect it. The amount was significant. It's now been 6 hours since that first seeping began and I still have wet blood in my ear. I called a nurse practitioner through my health insurance who recommended tilting my ear and letting the blood run out until it clots and to definitely not use a cotton ball which could stick and pull off the scab when removed. While I have had some clotting and my ear lobe and outer canal is crusted with old blood, some wetness from fresh blood continues to be present. I fully expect to wake up with blood on my pillow. To wrap it up, I'll say that everyone I dealt with from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the associate to the doctor was pleasant. The office was clean and nice. 15-30 minutes for an appointment of this sort is what I am used to and this one took a full hour. For whatever it's worth, I would have returned had the work been done correctly. Now I won't set foot in this place again and have to make an appointment with my primary care doctor to ensure I have nothing else to worry about aside from the infection. I work in music and won't be able to listen to music for a week. I can't hear the television clearly enough to continue watching Ozark with my wife, so now we are both irritated. This f-ing sucks Update: I did awake to an ear canal full of blood. I saw another doctor to have it cleaned out. I had a hemotama and bleeding continued for days. After a week I'm in much better shape. Dr Bublik called me and someone in his office reached out via Yelp. I appreciate the consideration he showed in my well-being.

Even though they noticed my nose looked crooked all of a sudden, I denied it out of fear, because I was afraid of doctors/hospitals at the time. I couldn't breathe well out of my right nostril. A few years later I started to notice the change in my face due to this unaddressed fracture. I hated how I looked in the mirror and I didn't feel like myself. In my late teens I went to my primary doc, told them I think I broke my nose, and explained the injury. The doctor took a look at me and said my nose was completely normal, didn't address the obstructed right nostril, and said my nose just changed because of puberty and it was my underlying genetics that made me look that way. I was disappointed but accepted what they said because they were an MD, and I didn't want to undergo an unnecessary procedure. Fast forward many years and I just couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right. I stumbled upon a picture of myself before the injury and that was the final straw that led me to seek a second opinion. I searched online for different docs and wanted to find someone who specialized in this form of reconstruction and cosmetic procedure. Long story short, I found Dr. Aminpour. The second he walked into the examination room, without even reading my file, he took one look at me and said "You broke your nose." I cannot emphasize enough how relieving this was for me. I felt like I was crazy for seeing something wrong when my primary doc told me there wasn't. Dr. Aminpour then discovered my septum was deviated through the physical exam, because it was obvious to him that I wasn't passing much air through the right nostril. I was very nervous on surgery day but he did a great job of reassuring me and easing my nerves. I can't tell you how much this procedure changed my life for the better. I got a combo septo/rhinoplasty. After I was cleared to take the bandages off, I left my house to run errands and saw my reflection in a car window. And for the first time in years, I loved what I saw. I felt like MYSELF. Finally my outward appearance matched what I felt on the inside. I asked Dr. Aminpour to make my nose look as similar as possible to what it was before my injury and he did so wonderfully. I stated my concerns about having a nose that had too much of a upturned swoop and a tip that was too thin/pointy. He reassured me that he wouldn't create that look and left the tip alone. The result is natural-looking AND... Taking a real full inhale for the first time in 2 decades made me realize what I was missing for so long. They wait until you go into the office and rush you inside to see the doctor saying they are busy with too many appointments and didn't have time to check your insurance before confirming whether your insurance is covered or not when they have a copy of it and work enough with insurance to know by now which ones they accept and which they don't. Then they turn around and put the blame on their patients saying it's their responsibility to verify if they are covered as if the patients are the one with the title "medical receptionist" allegedly this office exists for a money grab they don't care at all and take advantage of they use these words "we will send it to collections" just so they can pay their out of office doctors they bring in, they will turn around and tell you that you took up their doctors time, but don't even consider the fact that you're not there for fun. You also have a life and have a job and they have now taken up your time because they failed to let you know that they don't accept your insurance until after the appointment and now you have to fight for your right as well as go see another doctor again take another day off again lose out on money that you need to pay your bills again. If they hire someone at the front desk they need to give them enough training, so that they don't turn around and blame it on the patients when their employees fail to do their duty. When somebody doesn't know how to do their job why does it become the patient's fault? While I was there, there was another man in there that was arguing with them so it seems as if this isn't the first time they try to swindle patients. Their manager is very rude and aggressive towards someone who is just trying to figure out why they waited until after you have seen the doctor to let you know how much you are going to have to pay for the visit and just tells you that you're arguing with her I didn't realize how easy it is to use "I don't wanna argue with you" as a way to shut down someone who's just trying to figure out why their office messed up this bad when they are a doctors office. If you have patients triple checking with you that you accept their insurance that means they can't afford to pay for a $200 visit! If you let patients know you're gonna get them an authorization because you accept their insurance that means there is no co-pay, and there is no fees if you discover as a medical receptionist as a doctor as a billing encoding employee that a patients insurance is not covered after you have told them it is covered then you should let them know before they go into the visit so that they can decide whether they can afford to pay it or whether they will cancel their appointment and go with a doctor that does accept their insurance because if they could afford private doctors they would have private health insurance. Mind you they will have you fill out a new patient authorization form online where you upload pictures of your insurance card so this means now they have your insurance card in multiple ways and they still fail to do their job correctly!
