I made an appointment with Dr. Hershcovitch but I did not see Dr. Hershcovitch. I don't know who I saw, she only gave her first name. Was it a PA? A nurse? Someone in scrubs who wandered in? I have no idea. Not seeing the doctor as a new patient is really concerning, but what is more concerning was that she did a CT scan and then recommended 3 different procedures on my sinuses and Eustachian tubes and had me book the surgery immediately. They were very pushy about doing these procedures that would fix my breathing. I came in for vertigo. I asked if she was sure my breathing was the cause of the vertigo (I've never had breathing issues nor allergies) and she and was overly and falsely confident in her answer. I went to another ENT for a second opinion and this doctor (an actual MD) said that everything was a misdiagnosis, wouldn't help my vertigo. If I had proceeded, god knows how much this would cost both financially and in terms of my health. read more

ABSOLUTE SCAM ARTIST! Do not fall for this like I did! I was talked into getting "medically necessary" sinus surgery (balloon sinuplasty) and feel WORSE, not better! It's been OVER six weeks, which is when they said I'd be fully recovered. What is strange is they initially said I'd recover in 1.5 weeks. When I came in for the follow-up, I didn't feel better and that's when they backtracked and suddenly said it actually was six weeks. Very suspicious, but I decided to wait since there didn't seem to be much else I could do. It didn't get better! As for the surgery itself, the surgeon was pretty cold and didn't really engage with me. I found that odd. I was told it wouldn't hurt, but then was prescribed three painkillers for pre-op. (Spoiler alert: It did hurt!) Why would I need medicine if it won't hurt? At the pharmacy, the pharmacist let me know the painkillers would interfere with my current medicine. I was livid to hear this because I had specifically asked at the office if this would be the case. So while at the pharmacy, I then called the surgery office to see if there was an alternative medicine I could take. The person on the line was downright rude and told me I could just take the meds or not. What kind of attitude is that to have with a client who is being careful and cautious about their health? I was told to skip my current medicine and take the painkillers. I begrudgingly did so and almost threw up afterwards. The receptionist suggested it was a panic attack. I have had those before and this was not it. It was definitely a side effect of taking meds that are scientifically proven to interfere with my prescription! They act friendly and polite until they have all your money; then they drop the pretenses. Silly me, I paid in full up front, so now they're not pretending anymore. (I had uploaded an image as proof, but Yelp took it down.) I pulled out of savings and have taken four* days off work to visit them and it's been an absolute nightmare! (*Initial visit, surgery, follow up 1, follow up 2) At my second follow up, I was told I need to buy a HEPA filter and dust mite covers. One of the receptionists also suggested I might feel worse due to a cold. I have zero symptoms of a cold, nor did they offer to test me for this. I have not felt sick and this is just an excuse. I was also prescribed two steroids (nasal sprays), which I hate because I got surgery so I wouldn't need to put more unnatural chemicals into my body! The PA said this was my option... I've grown up with nasal sprays and haven't found them helpful. If what I needed was two items & some more meds, I wouldn't have shelled out four figures for a painful and expensive surgery! Also, they assured me follow ups are included in the initial $4,000 fee I paid. But see the picture below (Yelp took it down) at how they charged me for the (first) follow up! (My second one was yesterday, so they will probably bill insurance for that too. That's fraud!) Also, the billing for an April 8 date went through, but the billing for the Mar 25 surgery (paid upfront by credit card) didn't! I have been waiting for this to show up so my deductible is met for the year! We discussed this clearly at my appointment and I also talked to billing about it (see more about this later). This is affecting my ability to afford my prescription medicine and other medical services (like physical therapy for my scoliosis). I suspect the office will respond to this by claiming a simple mistake was made. I have talked to their billing department multiple times, so don't fall for this lie! Every time I've followed up since, they've become increasingly less friendly and more dismissive. I put so much hope into finally being able to increase my quality of life after more than 30 years of trouble breathing, but I was lied to and scammed. If you decide to go ahead with this center (understandable given all the wonderful reviews I believed too), make sure you don't pay in full so they actually take proper care of you until you're fully recovered!!! I had consulted with big name "showy" doctors in LA , West Hollywood, Beverly Hills , Glendale all touting they were the best. I asked my dermatologist at the time for a recommended specialist for rhinoplasty for men. A lot of those other doctors are general plastic surgeons that work on body parts and face and aren't specialized. So the best work they'll ever do is on the body parts they work on the most it could be breast, face or butt lifts . Not to mention some of those doctors just give everyone the same looking nose. He doesn't even do any marketing and that says a lot. When you have satisfied happy customers you don't need to overly market your business. I've even had my brother in law go to him for turbinate reduction from an old nasal infection he's had for 7 years. The new people I've met didn't even know I had work done , that's how natural it looked . I had my hump shaved down, nostrils resized, overall nose retracted back in since my nose was too pushed out and my septum straightened out since I also had breathing issues on top of wanting a cosmetic change. The cost was very reasonable affordable and well worth all the things he did. Mind you he's double board certified so he specializes in ENT (ear nose & throat) conditions. I checked and consulted with popular doctors charging astronomical amounts of money up to $30,000 for a rhinoplasty (not including septoplasty or other minor changes to nostrils etc ) some of those doctors have had their patients featured on the show Botched Yikes! Empty lobby, easy to get appointments, CT scan right when you arrive and get called in, never see the Dr ever instead you get the physician assistant who tells me how I probably open mouth breath and how dangerous that is. She insists on me getting surgery and if I pay in full instead of a payment plan they can give me a sizeable discount. That is so freaking shady! And when I ask for the doctor, because I paid for a doctor, he comes in very put out, makes no eye contact with me as he tells me the surgery where they do the balloon is the only way to go. This doctor, who is listed both as Meir and Matt Hershcovitch, and his assistants repeatedly recommended me a surgery that I did not need, had no positive lasting effects, and during the surgery I was in pain and asked for a break. The assistant looked to one side, held her right arm, and said "Yeah...he doesn't stop". Seriously?? Dr H. seems to have recently rebranded as a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and many past reviews I've seen of him on this site and others seem to have been wiped. One review said "don't go here, they only see you as a money bag". I really wish I had listened. I should have seen the signs - Why is their schedule so open even though other ENTs in the nearby areas were full-booked 2-3 months out? This a long overdue review of Dr Hershcovitch. I went to him to check on a small growth that was a VM (venous malformation). But he was only interested in doing rhinoplasty B/c as soon as he found out I wasn't there for that, his tone changed. He was dismissive, short and uninterested in practicing medicine. Instead of ordering an MRI the see what the mass was he ordered a biopsy. Any doctor and particularly a specialist would know better to do that. The biopsy of a mass of veins causes bleeding and creates a bigger mess. In this case calcification. Now I have a bump the size of walnut in my face that only a very difficult and dangerous surgery (nerve damage to my face) may resolve. read more

The initial meeting and the follow up procedure went well. I have a blocked Eustachian tube and can barely hear from one ear. When I made an appointment following my procedure I was seen by the P.A. as the doctor was not there. I said that I had no positive results and was told it takes 4-6 weeks for it to be better. After 6 weeks, I again was seen by the P.A. as the doctor was a no show. I told her that my condition was not better and maybe worse. I was told sometimes it takes longer. Soo I made the mistake of coming here even though some of the reviews were poor. I have a very similar story to someone else who left a review here. My left ear had been clogged for about 3 weeks and I started to experience ringing so I came to get it looked at. They took me in for a scan and then the guy put some type of nasal thing in my nose to clear me up. This lady came in super chipper telling me that I have some Interesting things going on in my nasal area so she showed me the photos of the scan and went over it with me. She asked me how my breathing was, how well I sleep at night and a few other general questions like am I taking any medications, history of allergies etc. Apparently I had a lot of blockage or something in my passage way and she was "surprised that I'm not having trouble breathing" because I'm not getting that much air in through my nose. She then looked in my ear and told me that there was something like wet wax on my ear drum and she tried to clean it with the suction thing but didn't want to get too close to my eardrum. She told me about this procedure in which the doctor goes in with the balloon and clears up everything up. She prescribed me ear drops to help clear up the wax in my ear and told me it may help with the ringing. She wanted to see me back in two weeks to check on it. Then the office manager or whoever it was came in the room to go over the costs of the procedure and I basically told him I couldn't afford it. I got the impression that all of this was probably just for the sake of trying to get me to do this procedure that I don't actually need. The ear drops she gave me were $100+ dollars and they didn't do a damn thing. My friend kept telling me that it's probably allergies and to try taking allergy meds. I started taking Zyrtec and within 5 days my ear was completely clear and the ringing stopped. I wish I would have listened to her sooner as it would've saved me time and money. But of course when you don't know youre gonna want to seek a professional. I had a feeling it could have been allergies because around the same time of my ear clogging I was sneezing alot and had a runny nose occasionally but allergies isn't something I've always had so I wasn't sure. I know this might show a mixed bag of reviews so full disclosure that I can only speak to what I know, which is myself and my own experience: I'd been experiencing massive sinus inflammation and blockage for many years. I also had chronic tinnitus and noticed a drastic change in my hearing on my right side for the last three years (but had tinnitus for almost a decade). I went and had the balloon procedure and while admittedly for someone who can take high amounts of pain, I was quite uncomfortable with the procedure since full anesthesia isn't used, HOWEVER, for me personally, I had the BEST experience because I can hear again AND I also can breathe again. I wake up rested now. I feel like I'm healing faster as well. It's changed my life to breathe again. As far as the anesthesia (or lack thereof), I get it -- this isn't the easiest procedure with just some Norcos and numbing but it genuinely did help me and I'm sure it would have cost insurance and myself more to have gone under fully. It felt and sounded like my face was breaking - which I did my research and knew this was the case but it was still freaky. The pain after wasn't my favorite, but i just ate an edible and slept the rest of the day. I bled very minimally and once I could blow my nose again, i was in great shape. I actually loved all of the staff and I think they genuinely do mean well despite how they are being accused of being a scam. I think maybe its just a lack of understanding healthcare in a large city and solo practice. Doctor was good and I think most people are unaware of how it works when you are at a practice with a single doctor -- he has to have a strong staff to help so it wasn't weird to not see him before the balloon procedure to me, tbh, because it was an in-office procedure. I think he could use the help to ensure overall better care at his practice but after reading other reviews, but I know practicing in a city can leave a clinic bogged down and again, I had nothing but a good experience here. Avoid this place. Lovely setting masking an insurance rip-off operation. Went in with an ear issue and the PA took x-rays and explained I needed a balloon sinuplasty, $10K price tag to my insurance for a 15 minute procedure. Saw a second opinion ENT who actually examined my ears and sinuses (unlike Hershcovitch who saw me for a fleeting minute), and clarified that a hearing test is the next order of business, especially as I have no sinus issues. I have suffered from severe allergies for years because of the air where I live. This has led to multiple bouts of sinusitis which often often times causes pressure and an uncomfortable full feeling in my ears that feel like they won't clear. I have also had five sinus surgeries, seen many specialists, and have been on every medication known to medical science to try alleviate these symptoms. Recently I had another severe bout of sinus pressure and feeling of fullness like I had fluid in my ear that was very uncomfortable. In desperation I decided to try an internet search to try and find a doctor that could help me. By a stroke of luck I selected Dr. Hershcovitch and made an appointment to see him which took exactly two days! I saw him in his very modern office in Burbank and he preformed a scan of my sinuses and ears and showed me on the large screen monitor what the scan showed as well as the scope he used to look in my sinuses. He had a treatment plan he presented to me where he would insert a ballon catheter in my eustachian tubes to open them up and expand them. After that he would place the steroid Kenalog directly into the eustachian tube to help reduce the inflammation and swelling. I had the procedure in this office the next week on a Wednesday and by the Sunday of that weekend my ears began to pop and clear and the pressure and pain began to disappear. The improvement continued over the next few days and I feel SOOO much better. I have have never felt such a feeling of relief in my life. I honestly thought I was going to have live in this misery for the rest of my life or perhaps have a sixth sinus surgery. By the grace of God I found Dr. Hershcovitch and found fast relief without surgery. If you have sinus/ear problems where you have seen many doctors and tried many treatments that have not worked, do not continue to suffer in silence. I have had the best experience with Dr. H! He performed sinus surgery, septoplasty and rhinoplasty just two weeks ago and already I am so happy with the results. He has been so patient and thorough in answering any questions I have. My recovery has been much easier than I anticipated. I can breathe much better already and I love the subtle cosmetic changes he made too. I did not want to look different, I just wanted to breathe better and have a couple tiny cosmetic changes and Dr. H was able to deliver exactly what I hoped for. And this is only two weeks out so it will keep getting better and better as the swelling goes down. Also the office staff and nurses are so nice. Lastly, I am told that one of the best reviews of a doctor you can get is from the nurses at the hospital/surgery center because they see all different surgeons performing on different patients every day. Next day I get a call from a pharmacy, it turns out that the medicine they are about to ship to me is not even covered by insurance (and I have great insurance). Where do I begin? Dr. Hershcovitch is beyond amazing! First, he is double board certified, a specialist in ENT, facial plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery. My dermatologist's office first recommended him when I had a scar on my face from a MOHs procedure that I did not like the results of. He skillfully fixed it and now it is virtually unnoticeable. I was referred to this doctor by my family doctor who spoke highly of him. I was in need a good ent doctor to check my salivary glands. This was specifically stated when I arranged the appointment, Went to his office, great service and huge waiting area. A person came and took me for a cat scan then I was taken to a room where I waited for the doctor. A young lady came in, introduced herself as a PA and started showing me the results of the cat scan. No problems with your sinus she stated, maybe a short deviation of my septum. I looked at her and I said " I came here for my salivary glands not for my sinus". Her reply was and I quote: "I know but I need to look at them". No doctor, took a cat scan to charge more the insurance company so no wonder the luxury of the waiting area. This doctor has been a miracle for my entire family. I was referred to him initially as an ENT for my toddler's chronic ear infections. Dr. H monitored him and when it was time, put tubes in his ears, which transformed my child and immediately relieved him of constant pain and sleeplessness. Fast forward several months later and my allergist refers me back to him to check on suspected sinus issues. We find out there is a horrible and chronic infection which requires surgery, so again Dr H comes to the rescue. He did a phenomenal job with my sinus surgery and for the first time in over 8 years I can actually breathe. He solved my chronic headaches and the source of several respitory infections over the course of the last few years. Well, my surgery went so well that my husband decided he was jealous of my newfound ability to breathe properly, so he went to see Dr. H for his deviated septum. He had surgery last week and is healing beautifully. Less than a week later and he's back to work and already stopped snoring. When I entered his beautiful, clean and spacious office I was greeted with such warmth and kindness, a huge character trait that most office staffs lack. The doctor himself has a wonderful bedside manner. When he sees you, he isn't just seeing a patient, he is meeting a new friend. He has so much empathy and care with every single patient, he takes his time to hear my concerns, he talks it through to make me feel comfortable and spend quality time when he's in the room to make sure I feel comfortable under his care. If you have any issues with your hearing DO NOT go to this office. I had sudden hearing loss with an episode of vertigo and this was the first place I could get an appointment at. The physician's assistant proposed a procedure to insert a balloon catheter into my nose to supposedly expand my sinuses. I immediately thought this was odd considering my issues were in my ears. In general I got a bad feeling from this place. I was never even examined by the doctor. I decided to get a second opinion, and they confirmed my suspicions about this place. As a result of their misdiagnosis, I have PERMANENT hearing loss because my situation was time sensitive. Had they actually known what they were doing and provided the correct treatment, there would have been a high chance that I could have at least some of my hearing back. When I first came to him he was very welcoming and sat with me, took the time to actually hear me out on my history on the reason why I came to see him. I was having issues with breathing through my nose for SIX YEARS, that was only because I had an accident when I was in high school. I cannot even begin to express how well Dr. Hershcovitch has handled my family! My 21 year old twins have both suffered with chronic strep. At one point, one of them developed strep and was misdiagnosed at the Pediatric Adult Urgent Care in Thousand Oaks(it was a desperate Sunday visit - won't do that again!) As of Tuesday, his throat was closing up. Thank goodness, we were able to see the Doctor, who lacerated and relieved a huge abscess in my son's throat! His skill and finesse were very impressive; but, more importantly, he relieved my son's misery and pain!!! He will make sure that you NEVER leave in pain/untreated, unlike some urgent cares and minute clinics that refuse to give you any steroid or antibiotics when you CLEARLY need them!
