Talk about an interesting setting for Japanese food! Wed-Fri this cute little food truck is parked right front and center in front of Fresno Flats Historical Park. Right past the high school on School Road in Oakhurst. It sports, picnic tables and outdoor seating, where after lunch you can peruse through the Historic Center and take pictures with Smoky the bear. This husband wife team are sweet and professional and knock out sushi rolls, and sashimi plates like no tomorrow. It's gonna set you back more than you thought for a food truck but you are pretty much getting the only sushi bowls in Oakhurst and it is pretty well put together. It was very tasty and fresh and the only thing I can complain about are all the little soy sauce, packets, and prepackaged stuff. It would be really nice if they had a couple bottles of soy sauce sitting out w some furikake available. I mean maybe there is a reason they don't, but it would be nice. those little package packets of soy sauce get arduous on the fifth one and messy. They were also out of tuna and shrimp, which they graciously substituted for salmon and crab, so I can't complain too much. Great food truck definitely will be going back. I mean where can you look at old historical buildings and buckboards while eating sushi with a resident cat on a picnic table!

Gyozas and poke bowl.

Matsumoto Samurai's Kitchen is an amazing gem in Oakhurst. So glad we found them. Veronica and the Chef are wonderfully friendly and gracious hosts. Their poke bowls have become a weekly reward for us and we look forward to going and enjoying their delicious food when Thursday or Friday roll around. The poke bowls are excellent. So far we've also tried the gyozas, Tokyo fried chicken, and miso soup. All are great and worth trying. Highly recommended. They're parked at the Fresno flats historic village, thursday thru Saturday, which is equipped with picnic tables and great shaded scenery to enjoy your order on the spot.

The worker was very kind! My mother ordered 2 poke bowls. My mother ordered spicy tuna, scallops, crab meat and shrimp. Also avocado cucumber and edamame and all the freebies too. We had to figure out where they were located and the worker gave the address and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We went to get it. It is the smallest cute little red truck and it's at a nice area where you can sit and enjoy it if you want to. The worker was very kind and welcoming! My poke bowl was Amazingly delicious! Wow! Loved the spicy tuna, scallops, crab meat and shrimp! Fresh avocado, cucumbers and edamame! Great rice! Tasted even better after being topped with wasabi and soy sauce! The scallops were my favorite! It had a lot of flavor! My mother said hers was really good! Great service and absolutely delicious poke bowl lunch! Highly recommended!

Had the fried chicken bowl and gyoza. Gyoza was fabulous! Looks like from the reviews we should try the Tokyo fried chicken next time. Would recommend.

Just moved back up to the area and thank goodness there is a way to get decent food in the area! Most places are either too expensive and just pretty gross. Fresh, great tasting(did I mention FRESH?) Japanese food. My new go to for GREAT food!

Two words: "Surprisingly Delicious". The wifey and I were driving around exploring Oakhurst and Bass Lake when we came upon this gem! Honestly, there were doubts at first, but we're glad we tried. Ordered the Sashimi Salad to share and was worried about the freshness of the fish. That went out the window after the first bite. If you're in that area, definitely stop by and grab some sushi.

Rio Acaí Bowls - Inside.....

Overall: 3 First…read moretime here or at any Rio Acai. Apparently there is one closer to where I live, so I figured I would give this one a sit first since I was nearby. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. There was watermelon and pineapple refreshers on the menu, however, upon selecting them at the counter the staff informed me they currently do not have either of the juice in the back. I thought the service and the Rio Acai bowl I ordered was good. I ended up going with the mango refresher, which wasn't what I wanted but it wasn't bad, it was fine. The spot is cute and clean, with a bright, tropical vibe that definitely gives off that "health-conscious but Instagram-ready" energy. I went with a protein smoothie, nothing fancy, just something to refuel with. It was good, not great. $9.50 for one smoothie felt a little steep, especially considering the portion size. I get it, fresh ingredients, protein, etc, but for that price, I expected a bit more WOW factor in flavor, size, presentation, etc... However, the staff was polite and engaging. Just a quick in-and-out experience, nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. All in all, Rio Açaí Bowls is a decent local option if you're craving something healthy-ish and cold.

I will start by saying this was my first time to Ducey's. In fact, I hadn't been to Bass Lake since…read morethe 1970s. It was a birthday visit. I'd heard about the place, and had always wanted to try it. I really, really enjoyed the experience. Most delightful dinner I've had in a long time. I can't wait to go back. I say these things because I'm going to have a couple negatives to go along with the praise, and I want to make it clear that I highly recommend the place as a fun, enjoyable dining experience. First, I'll go over the plusses. The view of the lake is serene and enjoyable. Really makes for an enjoyable dining experience. Call it Tahoe Junior. I highly recommend the bottom level of the restaurant, which has an elevated menu with higher pricing over the top level casual dining. Better aesthetics and menu make it worth it. They also do have a bargain menu of smaller portions if you can live with smaller portions. (Not me, lol.) You can see the menu at their site. Prices are typical Nicer eatery level. ($50+.) I had the ribeye. Typical quality. Well prepared. Featured a NICE proprietary blue cheese butter spread. Umm, yummy! I want more! Also loved the peach ice tea. More yummy. I overdose everything in sweetener, so I recommend that. Staff was first rate. Darn near everything about the visit was great from start to finish. Now for my negatives... The bread was these Tiny little slices of (I suppose) Italian bread. I wasn't familiar with it. Perhaps it's a standard four-bite bread type. Certainly didn't work for me. Bite-size is not really what I want in dinner bread... Veggies were bleh. Broccolini and carrots. Did nothing for me. We now come to the big disappointment and the Offense... No baked potato, but mashed potatoes! I can't recall the last time I ordered a quality steak that came with mashed potatoes instead of a BAKED potato! "No big deal," I thought. "I'll order a baked potato." The Up Charge was $9! You heard that right. NINE DOLLARS to swap baked for mashed! I might expect $9 for a potato at Ruth's Chris, but gosh! NINE DOLLARS?! The whole table was offended. That did not ruin the meal for us. We all enjoyed it and planned to return, but we ALL thought NINE DOLLARS for a potato--and we're not talking a huge one either, though it was decent in size--was insane. Absolutely insane. Fixins did not include bacon bits, which surprised me, but not every place offers them so okay. That's it. Full dinner and drinks for 4 was a bit under $300. Enjoyed ourselves, going back, but we don't understand the outrageous price on the potato. Tagging the visit at a 4, and recommending Ducey's. Be prepared for mashed... Shown--dinner and the $9 potato :)

When we were seated we were then told that the kitchen was extremely backed up and it wouldn't be another 45+ minutes until they can even take our order. Thankfully they were able to take our drink order first so we got to enjoy the view. We were starving by the time we finally got our food, everything was fried since we decided to get their sampler platter and fried calamari. The food was pretty decent, I think I just got sick of it pretty fast because everything felt very heavy. I would probably only come back for the views next time I'm in the area, and get some drinks and light apps!
