There has been a huge shake up there with one of the main partners leaving under very atrocious and shocking circumstances with the other partners We got stuck in the middle because not knowing this individual no longer worked there, we emailed him at his EZ Plans email address. That's when the yelling and threats began from Mark at EZ Plans. After being yelled at and screamed at, we decided the client relationship had been irreparably damaged and that we could no longer work together. We reviewed the contract and deliverables and determined that only 2 of the 5 had been delivered. That means 60% was not delivered. In an effort to part amicably, we asked only for a 50% refund of the money as we will need to spend it with another firm but were told the money was non-refundable. Next they formally terminated the relationship (which we had already done) but kept my 80 year old mother's money. My 80 year old mother has now filed a small claims suit asking for a full refund along with punitive damages.

We hired Ron to do the architectural plans for the remodel of a fourplex. He came in with a fancy camera scanner to measure everything, a very efficient process. He was very much on time with the delivery of the initial draft. We discussed minor changes and submitted to the city, and they had just had a few minor corrections before approval, which is better than other architectural teams I have worked with. After we began work on the project, we discovered a beam in the ceiling was not pointing in the right direction, leading to the need for a revision to the plans. The engineer Margarito went on site and approved changes, which allowed us to quickly adapt. Overall this was a very streamlined process, I would be happy to use his services in the future and can very much recommend him.

The timeline was totally reasonable (honestly, my slow email responses probably added more time than anything on their end), and the plans were approved by the city on the first try, which was a huge relief. It was also hard to find someone willing to take on a smaller project at a fair price, and they were very thorough. Even months later, they've still been responsive with follow-up questions from our contractor. Would definitely recommend, especially for smaller renovations or additions.

We worked directly with the very talented and creative duo Jeff Jeannette and Stefanie Haering. They helped us discover all of the potential our home had to give and provided many options to create space and functionality that we had not considered. From start to finish, Jeannette Architects listened to us and provided suggestions and plans that reflected our best hopes and needs. I always felt informed and respected. Our project moved forward throughly and quickly, especially considering the technical work that was required to rebuild every aspect of my home. My husband and I are so grateful that Stefanie and Jeff helped us throughout the entire project and even all through construction. I felt supported, I could always ask questions and get accurate, timely answers on even the smallest details. Jeannette would routinely check in on us as the work progressed and celebrated with us on the day we got to move back in. Jeannette Architects designed a beautiful home organized for utility. They created a new floor plan that flows elegantly, is functional and spacious for the homeowners with a sophistication that welcomes friends and family. They were extremely creative with a window plan that maximized the outdoor and indoor symmetry and welcomed natural light throughout my home. Stefanie was an absolute genius in how she found room in my floor plan to expand the primary bath. She added features like a wet room, which allows me to live like a spa queen. I have already recommended them to friends and family. Because of Jeannette Architects, our home is reborn for longevity, enjoyment and to preserve as a family asset.

My babies are growing rapidly, and with plans to expand my family next year, it was simply time to increase living space. Mid-Cities Engineering came as word-of-mouth recommendation. I was a little hesitant to be working with a company that was not local to The Valley, but I saw the beautiful work that was completed for my friend and knew I could trust Ivan to help me create my dream home. I wish there was a proper adjective to describe Ivan. He truly is creme de la creme- always so kind, answering a multitude of questions without ever losing his patience, even when he has to repeat himself. The level of detail and care is absolutely unparalleled. Ivan doesn't pass you off once you've decided to work with MCE- he's personally committed to your project as if it were his own home. I cannot wait to see the final outcome. I have no doubt that it will be a beautiful home for my babies to grow up in, and a beloved place for my family to create many precious memories in the years to come. As this is my first project, I had no idea what to expect and pretty much am surviving the process by the 'ignorance is bliss' motto because I blindly trusted him. My gut instinct was not wrong. The lengths that Ivan went through to ensure that my 1,200 square foot project went as smoothly as possible is unsurpassed. He was available for every text, phone call, and email after hours and on the weekends (my project is in Sherman Oaks). Not once did Ivan lose his patience with me (I know I was plenty neurotic). He was on the phone for countless hours with the City of Los Angeles, making sure that my project was progressing (it's always a nightmare dealing with the city, but exacerbated with this pandemic). Ivan presented options for different crews and negotiated fantastic prices for my project. We've hit a few bumps along the way, but I could always rest assured that Ivan would resolve my issues. I'm ecstatic to be nearing the finish line (I'm certain Ivan is too, but for different reasons, haha). Thank you so much, Ivan! I appreciate you more than you will ever know.

I am sad to say, the quality of work, the responsiveness, the attention to detail, all gone. Our "planning" that was supposed to take a couple months is more than 2 years in the making. Perhaps Brian's company got too busy during the pandemic, or maybe there were too many other people doing some of the work, or maybe the stress of the pandemic was too much. I go to work everyday as a frontline worker, and I expect others to do the same, to maintain their professionalism. I don't think this is too much to ask. Through these 2 years, we had to constantly bug Brian for updates, and we often got the feeling that he was avoiding our calls. He was definitely not proactive or concerned for our time. After extensive discussions during in person meetings, apparently he did not take any notes and did not remember what was discussed, so changes did not get drawn into the plans. He would of course not remember the encounter at all, so we started sending him emails with itemized lists of issues. He would often brush off some of our concerns. And for the changes he would make, new plans would have some pages with the new version but some pages with the previous version. Once or twice he literally brought over the wrong plans for our meeting, and had to reschedule after we had already blocked off our own work schedules to meet with him. This level of disorganization makes us wonder whether he sent the correct plans to the engineer. We finally got our plans through the city. But when we tried to get bids from contractors, we were told there were additional details missing. When we asked Brian to add these, he was unresponsive. Pretty much we are ready to give up on the remodel altogether and look for a house to move instead.

They completed a full gut renovation of our primary bathroom and a renovation of our guest bath, and the results exceeded our expectations. The tile work is absolutely gorgeous, the attention to detail is next level, and the job site was kept impeccably clean--which was especially important since my partner and I were living in the house with our dogs throughout the project. That level of thoughtfulness made a huge difference. Baldo was amazing at problem-solving and offering smart ideas and workarounds, especially given the surprises that come with an older home (ours was built in 1977). Michael was equally outstanding--always diligent, responsive, and proactive in addressing any questions or concerns I had along the way. We were so happy with their work that we've already had them back to update our kitchen with new backsplash and tile work, as well as an outdoor bar. I can't recommend Bela Development highly enough. Skilled, trustworthy, and a true pleasure to work with from start to finish.
