They cook everything to order, right in front of you, which is awesome. These cooks work hard and you can see their effort a foot away, on the other side of the glass. You might have to wait a little bit but it's worth it. Teriyaki chicken? Delicious. Mac salad? Pretty salty but I couldn't stop eating it. Beef ribs? Great flavor but extremely fatty. Short ribs? Also very fatty. I'm ok with some fat but when there's far more fat than meat, well, that's not so great. I really wanted to give them five stars but the meat was just way too fatty. Would I return? Rice was standard, mac salad was 6/10 bland with no taste to it (compared to onos this was below mid), and of course the beef ribs redeemed the dish. At first these looked extremely charred/burned but surprisingly they still tasted amazing. There was a lot of flavor and smokiness to the meat and it was also juicy but a bit on the overcooked/tough side. Quantity wise it looks a lot but most ribs do not come with a lot of meat sadly. What a drastic change from when I first tried this place a few years ago. The lady there seemed like she didn't want to be there and had a horrible attitude. Food The portion sizes are good, the taste is sweet, great sauce. I had the short ribs (Kalbi), which also had plenty of meat (and fat) cut without the bone. My significant other had the chicken teriyaki and his brother had the combo of ours. The bbq was delicious, now understand why it's always full people here. We ended up getting combos 1,2,3 , which beef ribs, kalbi short ribs, and chicken. We got a total of 5 beef and about 10 short ribs. The meat had really good flavor but some of the ribs were a bit burnt. The chicken was really dry and was precut which means we got less meat. We had their food with friends about 6 months ago and it was pretty good. We ordered takeout tonight and were very disappointed. All of the meat was extremely overcooked and dry. And on a side note when you put on your online menu all notes for a bowl will be ignored you are turning off your customers, not sure why they feel that needs to be there but IMO remove it. I tried the other location in Anaheim but so far in terms of meat grilling this place was better at a very busy time compared to going to the other location at a not so busy time. As long as you start eating right away you can enjoy the meat that is sweet savory and fall off the bone. As they are grilling they continue to put the flavorful sauce from a squirt bottle as they are cooking so when you eat- it is pretty flavorful and still juicy and not dry. Don't expect all the ribs to have a lot of meat some will be a bit more bone than meat. Definitely worth a try if you have not tried Hawaiian style bbq - and this one is great :-) some parts of the meat can be extremely charred so eat around it - not something you'd want to eat everyday if you have high cholesterol :-) the rice was meh at this time and macoroni salad is not something to die for but if you've had macoroni salad before it's pretty much that taste but on the creamy/ mayo side. THINGS to Consider/Service! I came at the perfect timing that a guy ordered 15 meals for himself and family and the wait became horrendous :-/ The employees definitely did their best with the rush of the situation during 12pm to 1245pm but it definitely put some frowns on people that were waiting- 45 minutes is a long time but again some guy ordered like 15 orders of food and just raised the wait time. I ordered the #3 Chicken Combo which was grilled teriyaki chicken with steam rice and macaroni salad. Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and very dry. I had to use a lot of teriyaki sauce to try and soften the chicken. The macaroni salad was probably the best part of the combo, except it unexpectantly had potato cubes in it. Service was mediocre. Ordered the #1 Beef Ribs Sam's Combo with an extra order of beef ribs (which should've been a $3 add-on). Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by the lady at the counter. She had a bad attitude from the start, overcharged me by $1 for the extra ribs, and when I pointed it out, she got irritated and dismissive. Instead of fixing the charge properly, she offered to pull a dollar from the tip jar--very sketchy behavior. When the food arrived, some parts of the beef ribs were still cold.
