Even my tax collectors told me that DK screwed up. When I asked to schedule a call with a partner to discuss the matter, they refused to even talk it over. Instead, they took an totally adversarial approach, and cited this language in their engagement letter: "You have the final responsibility for the income tax returns, and therefore, you should review them carefully before you sign them." Simply translated: 'You pay for our screw-ups.' So if you are an accountant and can ensure their work is proper, maybe you are in a good position to hire them. We were told monthly bookkeeping emails and financial summaries were being sent, but we did not receive them on our end, including in spam. Their explanation was that the emails showed as sent or delivered on their side, but that does not change the fact that we did not receive them on ours   There was also no consistency in who was handling our account. Within about a year of working with Steadman Tax Services, the bookkeepers assigned to us changed multiple times. We started with Sam, who left abruptly and shortly after we became clients. After that, we were moved to Alyssa, then Daniella, and later Keri this January, with no communication about those transitions. That constant turnover made the process frustrating and made it hard to feel like anyone had a full understanding of our books or the history of our account. The bookkeeping issues were even more concerning. Our 2025 P&L showed many American Express charges categorized as Thumbtack advertising, even though we did not use Thumbtack at all in 2025. That significantly distorted our marketing expenses. We also found other miscategorized expenses, including business subscriptions being placed under office supplies instead of a more appropriate category. We had also already provided information about a cargo van purchase, yet it still was not properly recorded as an asset months after the purchase. When we reviewed the QB audit history, we also found long gaps with little to no bookkeeping activity, including stretches of roughly 29 days, 81 days, 49 days, 35 days, and 27 days with only minimal or administrative changes. That matters because this was supposed to be an ongoing monthly bookkeeping services that we pay for.  The audit log did not reflect the kind of steady monthly review, cleanup, and follow-through we were paying for. Instead, it looked like work was being done in batches with long periods of inactivity in between, which helps explain why issues sat unresolved and why so many things were only caught much later. To make matters worse, we had repeatedly clarified that my wife does not work and has no separate income, but that continued to resurface as if it had never been communicated. That showed a lack of attention to detail and poor account management. What was most frustrating was how the firm responded once we raised these concerns. We were not rude or hostile. We brought up specific issues, pointed to documentation, and tried to get clarity on what had gone wrong and how it would be fixed. Instead of taking accountability and working toward a solution, the response felt defensive, dismissive, and focused on shifting blame back onto us. Rather than treating our concerns as legitimate, it felt like we were being talked around and told, in effect, that the problems were ours for not catching them sooner. Then, after we followed up in writing to document those concerns and ask for a resolution, they chose to disengage immediately instead of addressing the issues professionally. That made the entire experience feel even more disappointing and unprofessional. We were not asking for anything unreasonable. We wanted accurate books, clear communication, consistency, and accountability. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm.

Basically and simply greedy and wanting to do the least amount of work possible to get their paycheck. I literally had never used a CPA before ​and expressed this before coming into office. I was promised I would be taken care of, informed through the ​process and I can tell you, I was basically "taken" advantage of. I met Brandon (whose​ initials are a ​representation of the office) and tried to ask him questions during our less than​ 5-minute​ meeting that was rushed. From the get-go​, the documents I was told to have prepared for the meeting were insufficient and Brandon requested more items. Which was fine but remember I am new to utilizing a CPA and relying on Brandon's office to help me prior to our meeting, which was simply emailed me a form of documents to bring which I had, but obviously the doc they sent was not updated. Next was just the overall customer experience... During my 5 minutes, ​Brandon maybe said 5 words, "hmmm", "oh" and "nodded" at the docs I did bring in. Literally still no explanation of anything, from what I need to do from the customer side of things...this continued throughout the rest of experience I encountered for this meeting and the duration of​ months I worked with the office. I never directly spoke with Brandon again, just got sent on my way and told to bring more documents. I should have cut ties immediately and took my service elsewhere but I just thought, maybe I just drop docs off and that's how a CPA works. Far from the truth as you are paying them to advise and work with you on your taxes... Advise from a professional standpoint better than me using FREE to $50 TurboTax​. Hence, why you hear​ people say I can't advise on that, it's recommended you get a "tax professional". I tried to ask to come in the ​office to figure out what was actually going on ​if I was actually doing what I needed, and had questions and was deflected through email over and over again and did not feel any value as a client. "...Therefore, we are not responsible. Please take your business elsewhere." The last sentence written in an email to an error I literally figured would be minuscule ended our relationship. I reached out to this company to consider hiring for my taxes. My previous CPA and I had become…read moregood friends over the years, and he never had a problem with doing my taxes, quickly and efficiently! However, unfortunately he passed away. I'm a senior so have been doing self employment taxes for many decades. Never, and I do mean NEVER have I encountered (as I also see some reviews say here), such TOTAL RUDENESS and lack of caring or ability to treat a potential client with courtesy, unprofessional behavior, and just general incompetence as with this firm! It may just be that I made an appointment with the senior/owner, who stated up front that he'd be retiring soon.... I was early for the appointment, but then waited for 45 minutes AFTER the appointment time, with no apology, and then almost an hour of going over "how I'd done everything incorrectly," with nothing short of berating me, and how he wanted it done, diagramed for me (which was fine, but then he didn't want me to take notes saying that he'd give me the diagram, only to FORGET to give me the diagram!), and he didn't seem to know how to even make a copy of the few documents that needed to be sent w/ returns, so he just kept the originals... I would have made copies ahead, but my printer was malfunctioning, and we are talking less than 10 pages of W2's,etc.. Went home feeling like "Man! Does this guy have early dementia w/ temper issues, or what?" After I worked for several hours back home to "re-organize" what was always easy for my other CPAs to use, I sent to him, only to receive yet further ridicule from "Larry" who after waiting almost 2 weeks to get back to me, then said when I finally called to find out "if he received or had any questions" that he'd "had thousands of clients and not one had ever questioned or had trouble following his directions!" He then got really angry and said that he "didn't think we were a good match and he would not be able to prepare my taxes!" So, if you go with this firm, I hope that the younger son or daughter in the firm (Larry's kids), will be able to treat you with courtesy and competence. Larry definitely needs to retire. To the extreme that I copied my letter back to him to his son, hoping that perhaps he'd take over for a potential new and easy to work with client.... I'm guessing they walk on eggshells around their dad. Sad, but not the way to run a successful firm!

My tax preparer Spencer missed…read moresubmitting a W-2 for 2021 and when I filed my taxes in 2022, the IRS contacted me to let me know of the mistake and now I have to pay the IRS over $8,000! Since this mistake was brought to light, Spencer did not return any of my calls or emails. I then called the office and spoke to Frank who assured me he would take care of it. This happened last year and here we are months later and this issue is still not resolved. Every time I call their office number, all I get is their voice message and despite leaving messages, I've not had not one call returned. They have a portal to which Frank has answered some of my questions but when I messaged him on Dec. 8th to ask about the status of my payment, I've yet to get a reply. I just called this morning again and YET AGAIN, the answering machine came on! Looks like I will be handling this directly with the IRS. Worst service I have ever received from any tax preparer. This is a family run business so you are not gonna get anywhere with Spencer, Frank, or Laura! I am forced to give them a star in order to publish this but that is not because they deserve 1 star.
