Very Very simple, rustic, industrial brewing style venue. The beer was good nothing too exquisite in taste. The had a few wine options, no cocktails. They offer valet parking or self parking. The area seems weird since it's so industrial... just keep driving you are on the right street. The Staff was very nice and friendly. Of course there isn't any food served here, they had a food truck available and they were excellent (rolling chefs) they offered plenty of options! The inside isn't that large but the outside area was huge, plenty of seating options, picnic style tables, outdoor games, and a Live Band!! Great Great set up. This brewery is worth checking out if you're in the downtown Lake Worth area. They recently opened up about a couple months ago and I was able to check it out last weekend. You're able to view the brewing facility right from the huge tap room. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating and it's pooch friendly. There are several beers available on tap such as IPAs and Ales and I went for the Sweet Emotion. It was a light cream ale added with Madagascar vanilla beans and it was tasty. My husband liked the tropical ale they offered. There was a food truck outside in the beer garden area and we got some tacos to eat as well. There is a parking lot that's a short walking distance to the brewery and you can valet there too. It's wise to use the lot or valet if needed since the street parking can fill up real if there's a lot of people there. When we went, it was a Saturday afternoon and there was a bunch of people celebrating with a nice cold one. It has such a relaxing and chill vibe that it makes you not want to leave for a little while longer. read more

I stopped at Mathews this past Wednesday evening after work. Wednesdays are when crowlers (32 oz cans) are 25% off. I figured having these at the house would entice a couple of my guy neighbors to pay a visit to my patio and hang out for a Saturday afternoon beer at my invitation and get to know them better other than the wave from across the street. Beer can be a good ice breaker and a quality beer can be the draw that makes it happen. This was my first experience buying a crowler. I didn't know what to expect; if there was refrigerator area where I could look at the selection, no - it turns out there is none ready. They "can" it when a crowler is ordered, this is done at the bar area so you can watch if you want. They fill up an empty can that has the label of your selection directly from the tap and then slide it in a press, where the bartender pulls down a lever arm which secures the can's top. There is a little spillage which he wipes off and the process is complete; a can of cold beer. At the bar there is a menu selection of their beers and what I like about the descriptions (I wish they would also add to their online descriptions), is list the alcohol by volume (ABV) and the international bittering units (IBU). I favor both to be on the higher spectrum. The bartender gave me 3 sample shots and I decided on two cans each of Florida Haze and Accelerate IPA. This are more expensive than buying cans at the grocery store, but you are truly buying nectar of the gods, so it was worth the spurge. The 4 cans came to $54 and some change. I am sure I tipped on the low end as I left $56 on the counter. 4 cans x 32 oz = 128 oz at $56, comes to about $5.25 per 12 oz. Next time, for a to-go order I am going to buy a glass growler. I asked and there isn't any days where growlers are on sale. When you buy one and are not doing a refill, I believe there is a $8.50 charge/deposit. I also understand they don't have gallons. The largest is a half gallon which is 64 oz (like buying two of the same crowlers). I still have my beer can collection from when I was a kid and I do like the crowler cans. I'll save the ones I just bought, but I don't plan on collecting all that Mathews brews, but you never know. Well, I hope this long winded review prompts you to bring home a crowler. read more

Matthews Brewing has quality craft beer and great service in an unassuming area just west of downtown Lake Worth. We grabbed a few different types: a Pilsner, a Hefeweizen and a Belgian white. There seemed to be something for everyone on the beer list ranging from light and fruity to hoppy to dark porters. The outside patio had a stage for live music (although we didn't stick around to hear the band), cornhole, large umbrellas for shade in this wicked Florida summer and space for a food truck. Tonight's food truck was Rolling Chef's, one of our favorites and really the reason we came out. This brewery has come a long way since it's opening and they're really putting their best foot forward. The atmosphere is chill, with plenty of shared seating and barstools to go around. read more

Great experience . We had purchased a Groupon for 4 . The server was so kind and when we told him we weren't IPA fans (boo if you must) , he brought us every other option including an extra one . Excellent beer ! On the way we stopped at Taco Sur a taco place less then 2 blocks away and when telling them of our plans the boss offered to have the food delivered direct. Great ! Mathews Brewing is exactly what I look for in a brewery. The bar is big, the tap room is nice and bright with plenty of seating, the staff is amazing and the beers were delicious. Plus they have a nice beer garden and their mascot is a puppy. We were lucking to find three empty seats at the bar in a rainy Saturday and were greeted immediately by not one, not two, but three bartenders. We wanted to try lots of different beers since this was our first visit and they said we could get a flight of however many beers we wanted. So, of course, we tried them all. 14 beers later I can honestly say they have some of the best beer I've ever had. Every single one of them was really good. Plus the bartenders gave us suggestions on other breweries in the area to try and where to go for some very tasty tacos. Great brewery, I'll drive back up to Lake Worth just to stop here again. read more

I AM IN!! =) The thing is... my heart belongs to my dog Julz who just so happens to be a Jack Russell, so you can see why that's such a big deal for me lol!! Add in some tasty craft beer and I am a happy woman! Mathews has been on my radar since before they even opened. Their unique cask-conditioned ale option intrigued me. Like most breweries they are located in an industrial area, that's really close to Downtown Lake Worth. So close you could walk downtown from there, so take advantage of the parking ... after having a few beers first that is ;) The day of my visit was on a busy Saturday afternoon. The Lake Worth Street Painting Festival was going on that day, so a friend and I wanted to grab some beer before walking around. As soon as I walked in, I immediately liked the brewery! Cool vibe, nice layout, Jack Russell painted on the wall, live band playing... and BEER! Perfect!! Their outside patio is absolutely OUTSTANDING as well!! The most beautiful one I have ever seen at a brewery. All the waterfalls and rocks really create an awesome Zen like vibe and its super big and open but still nicely blocked off to keep it private. THE BEER They don't do flights but they do offer smaller samples at $2-$3ea, 2oz-4oz I am guessing in tiny little glasses. That was what we did and just ordered a bunch to try and share. Here are some of my favorites: - Peanut Butter & Jealous - This was hands down my favorite!!! So much better than the one at the Funky Buddha! (sorry) You get the peanut butter right in the front and then bam the jelly flavor kicks in! Sooooo Good!!! - Florida Hop Juice - Easily my 2nd favorite beer. Perfect for drinking outside anywhere! I really love the citrus kick it had. You can tell they use real fresh ingredients in their beer and not flavoring. Makes all the difference. - Heavy Metal - I've really been getting into IPA's the last year or so. This is a nice American Double IPA. Smooth and easy to drink. I really liked it a lot. - Accelerate IPA - Another really good American IPA. I didn't find it to have a strong IPA flavor so it might be good for people that don't usually like IPA's. - White Goblin - This is a really good Belgian Wit bier. I enjoyed this one a lot as well. Overall my first visit to Mathews Brewing was awesome! Bartenders were super friendly, beer was delicious and the live music was great! Definitely check this place out if you are in Lake Worth. Well I went to Matthews for the first time apparently it's been around 2 years never even knew that. There are designated parking areas and street parking. The inside was spacious as well as there patio area that host live bands. There are also food truck vendors on different days. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was just so pleasant. There were families with kids there as well. The beers were really good you can also take growlers to go. I had the Pork sandwich from the truck and it was really good. Check out Matthews. read more

Congratulations to the team at Matthews Brewing for establishing a fine brewery in Lake Worth. We stopped by after visiting the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival (which, BTW, is an amazing annual event not to be missed!). Unbeknownst to us, the folks at Matthews had been handing out coupons at the festival for free beer. So the place was packed. Smart advertising strategy because I think many of the people who visited for the free beer will be coming back as loyal customers. There was live music inside, which was a bit loud for the small-ish venue. So we headed outside and were glad we did. The patio is fantastic! It's completely secluded from the surrounding neighborhood and has lots of good quality picnic tables and creative outdoor seating such as stone tables & stools. We were pleasantly surprised to see stone sculptures and waterfalls as well. And a graffiti artist was putting the finishing touches on a wall mural while we watched. Very nice! Matthews Brewing has an extensive beer list compared to other local breweries. I won't comment on specific beers because that's really a subjective thing based on each individual's taste preferences. Suffice it to say that there's likely a beer (or two) on tap to satisfy just about everyone's beer craving. If you like local breweries with their simple décor and food truck grub, this one is at or near the top of the list. And, unlike most of their competitors, Matthews Brewing is air conditioned, so it's the perfect place to cool off with a refreshing craft brew on a hot day. I have come 3 times now, most recently with my sweet furry girl, Lilo, in the outdoor seating area. They were Quick to bring her a bowl of water and were very sweet to her and us. Great spot right off 95 in Lakeworth out doors was huge and a solid beer list, at least 15 taps at a time, always impressive, crolwer most anything as well. great staff and really nice new facility. Parking can be odd, but once u figure it out, your golden, multiple lots just down the street just for the brewery. Like most breweries the place is located in an area that has a lot of manufacturing and auto repair shops but felt safe and I wasnt at all worried about leaving car a block or two from where i was. read more

Funny story as we visited for the first time. My buddy and I were wondering what the logo of a dog had to do with the brewery. We parked across the street along 2nd Ave. and as I got out a dog started barking from behind a fence of what appeared to be a junkyard. I chuckled to my buddy "hey a junkyard dog" then we get in, and sure enough there's a brew called "Junkyard Dog", and it's an English Brown, one of my favorites. I also loved their amber and NE IPA. What I really liked was the layout. It really has everything you want in a brewery taproom. Nice big bar, sign with everything available with options and pricing, contemporary/pop culture art, The Wall/Kurt Cobain corner with comfy couches, chairs and TV, which I requested for the Panthers game. The beer-tendress that was a Lightning fan that we jabbed with all night she was great. And live music in the beautiful patio outside. Mathews has become my favorite brewery in Palm Beach county for quality beer. I'd rate them a little ahead of good breweries like Copper Point and Due South, and waaay ahead of places like Twisted Trunk , Civil Society and Ookapow. I've sampled most of their stuff, and they seem to nail everything. From their exceptionally well-balanced ipas and pale ales (including some very good New England styles), to their ESB/cask ale, to their new lagers , it's obvious this place is actively trying to brew *quality* and not just pump out unbalanced, oddly flavored stuff that people will buy just because "it's craft/local" and Emperor's New Clothes Effect. They have a nice reasonably spacious tap room, a good size outdoor patio, and pretty good service in my experience. Plenty of parking available on a couple lots to the north side of the brewery if they happen to get crowded. Highly recommended. read more

The patio is very nice and secluded with a great stage for live music and an area for food vendors. It's pet friendly and both beers I tried far exceeded expectations. More accurately would be 3.5 stars. Likes: Clean. Bar tender (Cody) was cool. Lots of beer on tap, plus a few casks to try, which was new to me. Food truck outside served burgers (including a chickpea burger which was AMAZING!) Live music on the patio outside. Dislikes: Lighting inside was SO BRIGHT (not sure why but a lot of places seem to be doing that). No flights so your stuck going back and forth to the bar with mini $2'ish goblets. Loc is a little sketchy but parking isn't bad so you can get to and from your car no prob. Would come back for a special event but it's a little far from home and have a few other breweries on my list to try! Our group had a good time, and our overall tab was $75 for six gals and about two rounds. Not bad! read more

Really enjoyed the beer and the relaxed, fun atmosphere at this place. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. The outdoor courtyard is dog friendly, has great murals, and is set up for food trucks and live entertainment. I appreciate the fact that they had two lighter, refreshing beers on the menu. We liked it so much we came back for more on a Tuesday before leaving the area and also had a white pie from Good Days pizza truck (delicious!). Whenever we travel we seek out local breweries and this is one we'll remember and revisit. read more

Made a quick visit to Mathews Brewing on Sunday afternoon. They did not offer traditional flights, so we ended up with Small Pours of seven selections on the beer list. Quality Mathews Brewing had fifteen beers on tap when we arrived, however we were immediately disappointed to learn they had just run out of Peanut Butter & Jealous, the coolest sounding beer. We ended up coming up with a small list to try including Sweet Emotion, White Goblin, Heavy Metal, Florida Hop Juice, Riff-Raff, Black Metallic, and Cask Ale ESB. My highlight of that bunch was Black Metallic, an Irish Dry Stout. It was surprisingly easy to drink and had a nice creamy flavor. Unfortunately that was about it for stand-out beers for me. Not that the rest of the beers were bad, but I felt they were average and unmemorable. We did only tackle half the list so it is possible we missed some gems, but the reason we did not soldier on was because of the disappointment from the first set. Quantity I was surprised to see different Small Pour glasses for some of the beers we selected. However, I still believe they were all either 4oz or 5oz, which is standard. Nevertheless I appreciate the commitment to using the correct glassware, even when the amount is less. Value The Small Pours cost between $2 and $3.50 from my math, though I did not see it listed anywhere. A reasonable price comparable to other South Florida breweries. Ambiance Mathews Brewing is found in an industrial area of Lake Worth. Surrounded by garages and workshops, it blends in if you don't know what you are looking for. The brewery has a good sized indoor area and a massive outdoor space. Inside they have a long bar that runs along what could be considered the back wall, but is actually the semi-separated equipment area. In the right back corner they had a band set up playing reggae music at a very loud volume. They had one television in the corner and the rest of the walls were covered with different artwork and a blackboard of beer. Because of the dog we spent most of our visit outside. The space is large, but the off and on rain kept all the guests under the covered patio area, which is less than a third of the outdoor space. They have benches set up both under the cover and in the uncovered courtyard as well as some lawn games with them. On a nice day I am sure this courtyard area is a hit with crowds, but the rain ruined that potential on this day. Crowd When we arrived there was a band playing inside, but practically no one hanging around listening. Instead most of the guests were huddled under the shelter outside. But once the band closed up shop, people migrated back inside. It was a strange sight seeing live music as a possible deterrent rather than a draw. The crowd itself was on the older end and primarily male. It also looked like a group that if the weather was nicer would probably have been on their motorcycles instead of at the brewery. Service We came in the main entrance with our dog. I had previously called ahead and was told friendly dogs are allowed. Immediately a guy came rushing out from behind the bar and rudely ushered us outside, acting like we should have known that was the procedure. Either explain the complete rules over the phone or have a sign set up. From there things got a little better as we started interacting with the girl behind the bar who was a bit friendlier. Still though, it felt like the staff was really just going through the motions and not really interested in talking up their beer. Parking They have a few spots directly in front of the brewery and then an unpaved lot down the street. While I appreciate the fact that they had parking set up, it was not the best parking situation. The lot was full of pot holes and with the recent rain was a muddy disaster. Extra I feel like it is possible that I am being too critical when it comes to breweries these days. But with so many popping up everywhere it is hard not to be critical to identify favorites. While the space at Mathews Brewing would be great on a nice day, it was a bit of a mess on a rainy day. Add that to just average beer and less than stellar service, and it is hard to convince me of a repeat visit. read more
