Person in-person, Jane I believe that was her name, my husband called her Jane, then I stopped and told her that was my middle name! Was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, offered suggestions, walked from one department to another, took her time with us (patiently, even stood there while I searched for photo of people I'm giving my 'flowers' to. I didn't feel rushed, stressed, and she understood my feeling, and was friendly. She wasn't the person, I talked to on the phone. I'm glad, because the lady on the phone felt like: it was a task/chore to answer my question, to her, she really shouldn't go from Bridal department to another department, to answer my question. I probably left there, if I didn't find something else, if I had to face her. Not deducting because of this. I'm just happy, that I got the fabric, the amount I needed, and the color I wanted! Jane gave me a special price, because it was the last yards from the bolt, it didn't have a price/label/tag, and I wasn't about to leave without that fabric. I wanted it yesterday, and I need it today, and it's a long drive back home, wasn't about to return. SO HAPPY!

(Okay, you called my bluff! Yes, we did.) Firstly, Center Diamond has a fabulous selection of fabrics and the prices are more reasonable than you'd expect. The fabric is sorted into themes and by color-- a feast for the senses! Maybe it's because I've spent most of my time at Joanns (R.I.P.) I was delightedly surprised that they carry flour sack towel fabric. It had never occurred to me to make my own kitchen towels! They have an extensive variety of tools and notions as well as fun vinyl decals to showcase one's sewing love. There's a great selection of patterns with finished samples for inspiration and several kits and a mahoosive selection of stackers, fat quarters, and jelly rolls. The staff was wonderful here! They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and fun. We bought a pattern and they even printed it out for us. My daughter and I can't wait to return! If you're a fabric crafter, do yourself a favor and stop into Center Diamond, you won't be disappointed!

This ain't your Grandma's fabric store!…read more After learning my first grandchild was in the cooker, I started to think about making a baby quilt. I rarely sew, and had never attempted piecing. But now that I was about to enter a new level of passage, I figured it was time to do what Grandmas in my family have done for generations... make a grand baby welcome quilt! I checked out a lot of fabric stores in my area, but liked BJ's best. It is a small shop located out in the middle of almost nowhere, south of Tillamook. It is stocked with lots of modern and unique fabrics, trimmings, patterns, and notions. Their extensive display of sample quilts makes it easy to imagine the possibilities and sets them apart from other shops I visited. And imagining possibilities was just up my alley. My DIL selected gray, white, and lavender for the nursery... and I could choose whatever accent color I wanted for the crib quilt. (Hunh? What happened to pink or blue?) Lucky for me, BJ and Kathy have an eye for contemporary fabrics and had what I needed to make the quilt I wanted to make. What a relief! I also opted to take a quilt making workshop. It was a great investment! Kathy was patient, kind, and nonjudgmental. She guided me through the process and gently reinforced positive outcomes without focusing on my technical issues... like not sewing straight and having trouble with the math. I highly recommend BJ's Fabric and Quilts and the way they do business!

They had the perfect amount of space for us! We booked a 4 hour slot on a Wednesday evening, and they allowed us to bring in some catering for dinner. They had a vast menu of different crafts, with materials like macrame, cement, leather, and more. The prices were $39 or $44 depending on the crafts, with more add ons. Each of us chose our own craft and were provided the materials and tools. Each table had some basic tools like scissors and tape, and they had a wall of paint, stains, and string to choose from! I chose a macrame yoga mat holder, so my craft bag had some rope and wooden rings, and I got to use a vertical frame with a hook clamped to the table to help with my weaves. Each craft has very detailed instructions and the employees checked in regularly and helped when we needed it! I had some frustrations because I was struggling to pull extremely long pieces of rope through knots I was making. The owner came by and gave me some tips to make it easier, and brought over some rubber bands to help bundle the ropes so it wasn't as difficult to make the knots. I highly appreciated his attentiveness and helpful tips!! I wasn't able to finish my craft in time so they gave me a copy of the instructions so I could finish at home. Overall, the employees were so helpful and made sure we had a good time! They also had some drinks on tap, I got a prickly pear seltzer which was really yummy! Overall, this was such a fun experience & I highly recommend booking for teams. I work in a virtual environment so I only see my team a few times a year. I really enjoyed being able to do a fun, creative, hands-on activity with my team. It was a bonus to have catering and drinks so I could take some breaks to mingle and walk around and see my teammates' progress on their crafts. Thank you DIY BAR for a wonderful experience!!!
