Great food and atmosphere. This is my favorite restaurant in Ashburn. I always get the mini burgers with onion straws. But this last weekend I did the all you can eat brunch. This really gave me a great opportunity to taste a wide variety of Matchbox's food - highly recommended. read more

The pizza is really delicious and have some very interesting flavor combinations. You can even order half & half to get two flavors. Fantastic! My husband ordered the burger which came with fried onion straws. Those were kind of greasy, but he enjoyed his dinner. The restaurant inside is very beautiful. It looks like a renovated factory (in Ashburn...not likely...). It's pretty noisy, though. We went on a Saturday night with a reservation (reserved wait list) and it took almost 45 minutes though we were told 10. I suspect it was just a miscalculation. My only gripe is the lighting. The LEDs we had over our table gave me a headache. They were so directional, I had to lean into the aisle to read my menu so as not to strain my eyes. Overall, I'd recommend going here, but be prepared for a wait, even with a reservation. read more

The food was great but our service was very poor. We had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter and 1 hour for our food. I would recommend this place to people who want to have a long night with friends. This is not for kids who have a bed time. read more

It is not only the food, but the tremendous quality of service that makes Matchbox one of my top "GO TO" destinations in Northern Virginia! I strongly urge you to try it out on your next dining search! read more

The service was amazing. The redhead with multicolored glasses was very polite and sweet. He made sure everyone got what they got and was very enthusiastic. The pizza I had was good. I would go again. read more

Best place in One Loudoun! The food is great and the bartenders are the best! to Mo and Alex!! After hanging out at other places in OL - I always end up here because it's a great atmosphere! read more

My wife and I had a date night out. Decided to go to Matchbox at One Loudoun. As always food was great, as well as the service. The place was very busy, and the food was still out in no time. Our server Will did a great job. We had a great night out. read more

One of the hostess named Karen was marvelous, wasn't to happy about our first table after being on a extended wait then we were given but she made sure to seat us somewhere else and said she wanted us to have the best experience! Definitely had a great experience! Will be going back read more

Aracini was uber-delicious- crunch on the outside, smooth and flavourful rice and cheese on the inside. The light onion rings as toppings on mini burgers were unique. The corn bread with honey butter is the corn bread ever!! I loved everything but the corn bread may be the reason I will crave to be back there SOON!! apart from that, our server (sorry, forgetting her name! ) was really nice - friendly with nice recommendations and checking on us often and at the right times! we will be back. read more

Walked in at their busiest time. Yet the food was good! Fries a bit cold but service was very pleasant and every one greets you all the time. read more

I've been few times because we heard good things about this place when they first opened. I wasn't impressed by the food or service. The last time I went, I ordered a chicken salad, which the chicken smelled and tasted bad, they apologized and removed half the price, I guess of the chicken only from the salad, which was weird. If people enjoy this place good for them, I will never go there again. read more

Amazing food, wonderful service, and great atmosphere! JP and Katie were absolutely phenomenal! I will absolutely be back whenever I'm in town! read more

So my wife and I are here for happy hour. The wine we want from the happy hour menu is out and they will not substitute another wine. They are also out of Titos read more

Really good food, I like the atmosphere and seem to meet cool people all the time in the bar. They have pear and prosciutto pizza that brings me back. Good wait staff and bartenders as well! My complaint, the place is a little loud and never has music. Also, the bar closes too early! 12 on weekends? Really? I get it, but the place has a crowed at 12, kicking people out when they still want to hang just annoys me. I will endure. read more

On of the best places in One Loudoun for good casual food. Nice selection of appetizers and salads and the prices are fair. Have always received good service from a very friendly staff. read more

I had a wonderful dinner experience, would highly recommend this place to anyone. My server Sherly was very friendly and professional!!!

Ordered carryout pizza. Called in the order and could barely understand the employee--it was like she was talking on a tin-foil phone. Only heard every 10th word. And she didn't know the total. When I arrived, it took her 5 minutes to return with my pizza and change. The pizza had mozerella SLICES on it, so not every slice had cheese. It cost me $25. The good news? The sausage was good. read more

Delicious food! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the very long wait for food to come out. And I wish they had bread or something to nibble on. I got the brick chicken and it was fantastic. My fiancé got a pizza and it was alright, not the best in the area but definitely good. We had the brownie sundae dessert and it was on point! read more

I've been to matchbox a few times and had great experiences - great atmosphere and food!

Their items are over-priced and the menu selection is just so-so and very slim. We ended up going in on Sunday at around 1:30 for lunch. The hostess sat us with three small brunch menus (maybe 3 entrees and a couple of starters on it) and one lunch menu. It was barely busy in there, so I'm not sure the reason for the sole lunch menu. Three people looking for lunch off of one menu was a tad annoying. There was nothing on the lunch menu that remotely struck my fancy, so I settled on the chicken and waffles from the brunch menu. Not terrible, but nothing to write about. The sausage gravy that comes with it was bland. The pizza looked pathetic, especially for what it cost. While I understand the appeal of using small, thick pepperoni (it was a small, expensive pizza), it curls when you cook it and looks unappetizing. The waiter was friendly and attentive and I like the fact you can see every corner of the kitchen. read more

I really like this restaurant. I've been here several times and have always had a good experience. The pizza is wood-fired and tastes amazing. I've had several appetizers and all are flavorful - I would recommend the giant meatball. My only complaint is the crowds on weekends. It's difficult to get a table outside. read more

We enjoyed Sunday dinner at Matchbox. Our orders included tuna tartare tacos, chicken & greens salad, seafood pasta, 1/2 spicy meatball, 1/2 MB meat pizza and churros for dessert. All were good in reasonable but not oversized portions; prices were a bit high but typical for the trendy One Loudoun locale. Decor is upscale/modern and service was very good. They take limited reservations (recommended on weekends) and also have call ahead seating. On a weekend evening it was busy so it was not quiet dining...vibrant, popular place with high noise level. Off street parking is available but depending on adjacent movie goers, the lots can be very full. read more

I've been a few times and their fried risotto is incredible. The last time I went we had an attentive waiter who took the time To figure out what we like and make great suggestions. He made sure we were well taken care of and the food was on point. read more

Had a great lunch here today, the food and service was excellent. Juryln took great care of us, checking on us and keeping our drinks full.

I have been going to Matchbox for years now and have always enjoyed my experience. However, tonight I was very disappointed with the way management handled a situation. I had to stand outside for curbside pick up for an entire hour after my pick up time with 15+ other people. Many of those people were actually waiting longer than an hour. The man who I'm assuming was the manager could have alerted us that there was was an issue with their system in a much more kind and compassionate manner, as you would expect any manager to do after letting down several customers, but instead, he comes out with an attitude and doesn't say sorry once. Not even when he handed me my order when I waited 1+ hours for it outside. I understand that the current covid-19 situation is putting a lot of strain on food businesses that are not used to an influx of online orders. I'm not mad about that. Just disappointed in how it was handled. Not sure I'll be going back. read more

Worst pizza I've had in recent memory. Frankly, I don't understand all the high ratings on here. I ordered their flagship Matchbox Meat, Margherita, and the Spicy Meatball for me and my family. At ~$23 a pie, I had high expectations for my first visit. The pizzas were undersized, undercooked, and greasy. It was quite obvious that the ingredients were not fresh and the tomato sauce came straight from a can. If you're looking for a hybrid of Chuck E Cheese and Jerry's Subs pizzas then this is the place for you. You'll find better pizza at your local bowling alley. If you have any standards for your pizza you'll go somewhere else. Needless to say, I won't be coming back here. read more

Service was 5 stars but the food was lacking a bit more zest-good overall and can't go wrong with the pizza

I have friends that could not wait for this restaurant to open. I went with my 8 year old son and found the restaurant to me cozy and modern. We went at 5:00 PM on a Sunday afternoon as the place was just starting to get busy. Since it was out first time there, I ordered two entrees for us to share. The Braised Short Ribs and a Roast Chicken. We did not have any appetizers, alcoholic beverages or dessert. The bill was ~$50.00 plus a $10.00 tip, so $60.00 for a meal that was very disappointing. The Chicken was dry and the flavor profile for the Short Ribs was sort of a cola-style preparation and just not particularly good. Not terrible but nothing to write home about. I have a feel that this may be a better choice as an appetizer and burger joint. I will likely try it again to see if I am right about that assumption. BTW - shortly after the check came to the table, one of the managers was visiting the tables. When he asked me how dinner was, I gingerly indicated that it was not impressive and that the chicken was dry. He proceeded to tell me that is was slow cooked than deep fried. Well, as an authority in the hospitality industry, the dryness now made total sense to me. It was a product of new inexperienced cooks. I think that the manager was thinking that I wanted a free meal. That is so not my interest just I thought that some gesturing to give me his card and to let him know when I would be coming back may have been an appropriate approach. But, nothing ............. The server was upbeat and the food came to the table efficiently. But, definitely next time some burgers and appetizers. read more

Ok good, ok service. Asked for a manager to book my company Xmas party.... No one ever contacted me. Disappointed.

My husband I called ahead for seating this past Saturday evening after hearing such great things about Matchbox. However we were highly disappointed. While our server was very kind and the restaurant is beautiful we were highly disappointed in the hour and 45 minutes it took from sitting down to paying for our bill. My date was a 10...everything else was a disappointment. It must have been an off night for the food because we have heard good things, but after our visit we are sorry we listened. read more

Awesome food, awesome ambiance, and good service. Always love brick oven baked pizza and the specials are usually quite the treat!

This place is totally decent. The food is very good and the atmosphere is pretty good too. It definitely is too crowded but that may die down as the new-ness wears off. The service was not yet "great" but it was decent- we weren't forgotten or anything but because of the crowd it was kind of slow. I'd definitely go back. read more

Went here with my kiddos and the food was good. I don't think that I would bring my kids back here though...they weren't that impressed. However, the bar area looked really cool...curious to know how the happy hour crowd looks? I will update once I try out the happy hour. read more

Not pleased. Burnt pizza, never got my ice tea.., burger itself was ok but they had no mustard? Onion straw things that came with burger were cold. Waiting over 35 minutes for yukky food. Very disappointed. Burger was full of pickles (after I asked what came on it) and was horribly salty! To the point that ketchup could not hide the salty taste. Server was pleasant but obviously tired. read more

matchbox - Waited over 35 minutes for burnt pizza. - New American Near Me - Ashburn, Virginia

I have to say that the modern look of the place and the staff are a big plus for this restaurant. The American style cuisine is just ok, the Pizza is average, the huevos rancheros are good, but not memorable and their burgers didn't do it for me. read more

Love the cool atmosphere & look, but the food is just average (at least the apps we tried). We tried the Mini Burgers with onion straws on top & the onion straws were the best part. I'm not saying the Burgers were bad, just nothing special. The next item was the Crab & Avocado Tower. This app was just plain. It did taste very healthy which I guess was good, but did not have a lot of taste/flavor. I really do love the atmosphere & with this location just expected better then average. Given I've only tried two apps, this is a review for only those two items...but two mediocre apps does not impress me too much. Hoping they step it up! read more

Me and my girlfriend love this place! We had these little tuna tacos for an appetizer and we had to order more cause they were delicious. We then shared a white pizza split in half w the choosing of her toppings and mine. My girl used to be a waiter so she typically judges when we go out to eat and she thought ours was phenomenal! We'll def be back in the near future. read more
