Everyone here was so friendly and helpful. This was walking distance from where we stayed so it was very convenient. I tried a vanilla iced latte which was ok. There wasn't much flavor to it, but my friend tried their smoothie which was better.

Matcha Mama is a hidden gem highlight in a Tulum. It is a one woman show and she did an amazing job with our semi larger order. The matcha and coffee were delicious, and the food was so good too!! The place was small and very cute, I loved our experience here!

Really cute touristy spot for photo op. Love my matcha so i def had to try it out. First time with my hubbs back in 2021 then recently with my girls this year (2025). Changes were made on their exterior, it feels tighter now. I don't remember exactly what i got the first time but i had the matcha latte recently. Wait can be long but not so bad.

Super good. They unfortunately didn't have smoothies as advertised on the menu, and the staff certainly could've been friendlier, but all that really mattered was that I got a delicious bowl of health.

This place was incredible, I wish I had found it earlier on in my vacation. I went to the location in Aldea Zama and each time I went they were so friendly and welcoming. I tried two different smoothie bowls, the tropical punch bowl and the matcha colada bowl. Both were amazing but the matcha colada bowl holds a special place in my heart. Cant recommend this place enough!

Very yummy acai bowl place in Tulum! Located on the south beach strip, this super cute acai bowl healthy smoothie shop is perfect in the morning on a hot day in Mexico. Prices were a little bit expensive, but that's is pretty consistent in this area. Probably the only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars. The shop itself is also really small, not many places to sit so be ready to grab and go if it is full!

this review is for the stand in aldea zama, NOT the hotel zone. ORDERED - matcha colada smoothie | 130 peso (~6.75 USD) STAFF it was a one-person show so be patient with them as this location gets busy. SEATING AREA cute set of swings in the front of the stand; behind that is a booth/table with limited seating; there are also bar stools available to sit and enjoy your order rather than doing take away. OVERALL my friends and i wanted something refreshing after brunch so we walked over to matcha mama since it was in the neighborhood. I ordered the MATCHA COLADA in smoothie form and it was good; not great. definitely expected more matcha flavor than anything, but it tasted like any other smoothie -- good, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Super cute and 'do it for the gram' spot in Tulum with a good variety on their menu. From fresh juices, smoothies, bowls and nice cream there is a lot to choose from. Went with a group and got a few things to try! Unfortunately, there weren't any fresh coconuts so we opted for the Chachandia which is Matcha and Watermelon juice, which tastes ... as you could imagine it tasting. Nothing phenomenal. The matcha nice cream was good, creamy, light and slight matcha flavor but not bad for it being nice cream. The açaí berry bowl was refreshing with fresh fruit and was perfect for the heat, good portion size as well in the cup. They accept cash or card. Price point is comparable to what you could get in CA, USA. So on the steep end. Cute photo op storefront with swings and located near many other eats and boutiques on the main road.

one of my places-to-go in Tulum was at Matcha Mama because it just looked so cute and we love a good "dessert drink". Im glad we actually went because the weather there was just so hot and we needed some shade and drinks to cool ourselves. it wasnt a crowded day so we got to spend some time there. Staff was good and efficient. They had lots on the menu but we just wanted a smoothie or iced drink. The Mango tango was really good! that shaved iced hit the spot as well as the right amount of sweetness and flavor. The Iced Chai Matcha Latte was good too but I actually enjoyed the Mango more. Didnt get to try the acai bowls but they looked wonderful. I definitely wanted to try the Nutty Monkey and charcoal Matcha, hopefully if we ever revisit.

A really cute little spot in Tulum! My husband and I got two bowls and they were both very delicious. We also got two lattes which were not great and the main reason I am docking a star. We ended up throwing them both away. There was two people working when we arrived but like others say, it does take a minute to get your items so please be patient. This is definitely more of an Instagram spot than anything else, not very special, but still good!

The smoothies and bowls here are super refreshing and yummy. I like that they had a bunch of healthy add-ons. The area it's in is nice and it's easy to find parking. The girls there were helpful and made our order quick! I'd come back to try more :)

Matcha Mama seems to be one of the trendy Instagram spots of Tulum, and I can totally see why with how cute it is! There are a couple locations: One near the beach and one in the center of town. We went to the central location, which was conveniently close to many different restaurants and hostels. You can either get an acai bowl here or a smoothie. They have a ton of fun flavors to try, and you can enjoy it while relaxing on one of their swings or comfy seating areas. It's the perfect refresher after basking in the humid Tulum heat!

Instagram famous. Found this place by accident after I found parking for the beach. Realized everyone was snapping photos on the swings. Really cute setting and picture perfect. Açaí bowls, fruit bowls and smoothies. American prices. Maybe ever higher than. They also have cbd products at American prices. Cannot seat or serve more than 8 at a time. Refreshing but no wow factor. Reminds me of a boutique Jamba Juice. Really awkward when everyone is taking selfies and waiting for you to finish your smoothie so they can sit on a swing. Does take a little bit for smoothies to be made. read more

Loving most things about this place! First and foremost, note the swings! And being the aesthetic is white with pops of colors it is the perfect photo op! The smoothie bowls are all very tasty and made very well. I wish this location used the coconut bowls because honestly, it's one of the reasons I came. Though that made me sad it didn't deter me. What would turn me away is how unwelcoming and rude the person taking our order was. Maybe they were having a bad day but it felt like we were bothering them. Hopefully, if we go again, our interactions will be better. read more

Highly recommend visiting matcha mama during your morning on the tulum beach before heading out to the ocean. We arrived slightly before the posted open hours on yelp and were served right away. We both got a matcha drink and I got the smoothie bowl and my bf the smoothie of the day. They were friendly, easy to chat with and had menus handy for us to look over. The açaí bowl was delicious and i had peanut butter for an added benefit of protein. It was just the right amount for a good solid breakfast. It's an Instagram photo worthy destination with the health kick you need in the morning. read more

Very instagramable and vibey, complete with swing seats and artistic wall decor. Would recommend as a quick refreshing stop while walking through the very HOT downtown Tulum. The mango smoothie bowl was divine and VERY filling. Took a hot second for the bowl to be made, but we had no where to be, so I didn't mind so much. We also tried the strawberry and coconut ice cream and IF YOU LIKE COCONUT try that ice cream. It is FULL of coconut flavor and has chia seeds in it to add a little crunch? Keep in mind that this place is the only thing that looks like it on the street. You must drive down a pretty beat-up road in order to get there. Grab a drink around the corner at the mojito place when you're done! read more

Came here because a blogger (veggiekins) I follow recommended it. We rented bikes and biked over to this spot. It was super cute and instagrammy. People were waiting in line to take pictures in front of the sign/on the swings. Most importantly, the food and drinks were so good!! I got the green smoothie and my boyfriend got the papacito bowl. Both were delicious!! Great spot to come grab a healthy breakfast. Definitely on the pricey side (normal US prices) but it's worth coming at least once :) read more

One of a few cute Matcha Mama outposts in the Tulum area. I would say the beachside location is probably the iconic, classic one you see people visit, but this one was definitely great to visit and try their drinks and bowls. The açaí bowl is a must try, but we also enjoyed our watermelon bottled drink. Definitely expensive, and probably won't be back, but it was fun to come and sit on the swings to take that iconic picture. read more

A trendy Tulum place! I don't think the food is exceptional, but it's good. It's really healthy which was needed after a little too much partying. I liked the nutty monkey bowl, the matcha gin gin, and their fresh coconut water. The one in Aldea Zama is a one women show though, so bring your patience. read more

Loveeeeee this place. Went there to get my first morning matcha and it was the only place around. Açaí bowl was so good. My husband loved his as well. This was down the street from our hotel and such a nice way to end a day of bike riding around the city! I ordered the açaí shake with coconut flakes and it was filling. This place was walking distance from our hotel.... also my wife had heard about them in many blogs.. so on the day we arrived in Tulum we headed there.... it was quite busy... the folks there were very friendly and patient with us.. they helped us make our choices.. I ordered a mango juice and it was outstanding... we went there for the next 3 days trying out different variations of the matcha mango.. don't remember the exact name... but if you are in Tulum ... Matcha Mama is one of the most instagrammed places in Tulum beach next to Azulik. I love Matcha so we made the stop. It's a small little walk up stand with a few bar stools on the side of the cafe. I liked the place but couldn't figure out why it's so popular. I am not sure it's someplace I would say you absolutely had to go but a great place for a quick pick me up Matcha! read more

I got an AcAi bowl. Very refreshing. The fruit was also great. Tip: make sure to ask what fruits they put on top. I made the mistake of not asking if they put coconut on it (not a coconut fan) but I loved every bite. Def a place to try when I'm tulum for something refreshing. read more

OK! So l hate to give a beautiful place 2 stars I couldn't wait to visit this little spot with colorful acai bowls with seeds and all the delicious nutrients we all want in our bodies. I start walking up to the counter and the first thing is she didn't greet us at all she was just staring at us like she seen a ghost! I ask for two menus and we asked a question and she couldn't answer it so I ignored it whatever I just want a bowl and sit in the jungle with my loved ones 3 acai bowls and a small drink was over the top expensive mind you I know we are on the beach I know Tulum is not cheap but this was over the top but I'm going to mention they add there tip!!!! No trip to tulum is complete without a trip to matcha mama, says every person who has blogged about eating in tulum. I would say they are right. After a few very hot days filled with eating tacos, my body needed a reset kind of lunch, and matcha mama hit the spot. the place itself is cute, you can sit in swings. Pros: Two Locations on on the beach road and one in downtown. Friendly staff Cons: Different every time between locations. My favorite location was the downtown location the girls were smiling and dancing and having fun and the food was amazing. The beach was centrally located but the açaí bowl was a little different depending on the location you went too. Overall I love this place. read more

Very cool place located on the south end of the beach. As many people have mentioned, this place is very instagrammable and mentioned in a lot of popular blogs for its swings and cute sign/decor. Apart from the esthetic, Matcha Mama does have a decent size menu offering bowls, smoothies, and of course coffee and matcha. I opted for a matcha chai latte and really enjoyed it. The bowls looked delicious and fresh as well. The only downside to this place would be the pricing as most items are priced at Miami levels. read more

The perfect little breakfast spot! This hidden gem is tucked away on the jungle side of the street. It's very small but the fresh fruit they use is unbeatable. The prices vary but are still competitive with surrounding spots. We had the açaí berry bowl several times and also a coconut matcha bowl which was also delicious. Each time we came we got a coconut water which comes inside the coconut. Very fresh! I recommend bringing cash, we had to use a card one day and it took awhile to get the card reader to work. Cash is easiest! read more

Matcha Mama is a tiny, very cute açaí/smoothie spot on the main beach road in Tulum. We went on a Sunday morning for açaí and coffee. I had the açaí you baby bowl, could've used some honey to add some sweetness to it. I also had a cold brew coffee with almond milk, which was very good, but the cold brew came from a branded glass bottle that was obviously purchased elsewhere so I found it to be a bit over priced considering. My boyfriend had the açaí bowl of the day and really enjoyed it. The staff was very nice and there was even a small parking lot behind it (rare in Tulum). read more

Came here during a recent trip and it was the perfect cool down.. tried the acai! Swings out front, bilingual menu/staff, hella smoothies to choose from! And plenty of trees to park your bike and get some shade. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

***THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE DOWNTOWN MATCHA MAMA LOCATION AND NOT THE ONE IN THE HOTEL ZONE*** I had just arrived in Tulum a few hours ago and I was having the worse day ever! I had booked a place to stay well in advance on booking.com but it happened that the booking was fraudulent and the place did not exist! So here I was with my big backpack wandering the streets of Tulum, aimlessly, not knowing where to go, when I stumbled on this cute little cafe. It looked like a cozy place with nice swings and what looked like a trendy menu of smoothies and fruit bowls. I just needed to use their Wifi so I could book myself another place . I kindly asked the attendant Ixchel who was the sweetest most kindest person ever. She insisted that I did not have to buy anything to use their Wifi. She completely empathized with my situation and that kindness and empathy made a bad situation not look so bad. As I sat on the cozy little corner I watched people order yummy amazing stuff from Açaï bowls to green matcha tea smoothies. Everything was made fresh and it looked so healthy. Definitely Vegan/Vegetarian friendly . Once I booked my room at another location, I started making my way thanking this lovely lady for her kindness and generosity. Then something else happened. I was 3 blocks away when a young lady who was a customer of Matcha Mamma ran after me because I had forgotten my phone! She was out of breath and I wanted to cry for her kindness. I gave her a hug but later on felt bad I didn't give her money for returning my phone. Now my phone has absolutely no value since it is an old iPhone 4 that I have had for 10 years. But for me it was of a big value . To Ixchel, thank you , you are the reason I love Mexico. To the stranger who returned my phone. You have a heart of gold and your good Karma will bring you much happiness in life. To all of you reading this review, go to Matcha Mamma and enjoy yummy stuff. Came to Matcha Mama to cool down from the hot Tulum weather but was underwhelmed. I ordered a green juice and an acai bowl. The service was very slow and they had insufficient funds to make change. The décor and the swings make this little shop cute and approachable, but don't believe the Instagram and Youtube hype. I really wanted to like this place but my juice was watery and the acai bowl was just okay. read more

The texture of the fruit is on another level. The ingredients are high quality. The coconut water is as fresh as can be. The lady at the store counter looked at me funny while I was ordering(I tried to speak in broken Spanish) but it was still overall great service. This is 1000x better than the açaí bowls in California. Trust me. read more

Disaapointed with my experiences here!! Had thIs place on my 'must try' list for my first trip to Tulum! Found the staff very unfriendly, matcha was not great, went twice and after being left disappointed and annoyed by the service I found a great Matcha place close by called Nektar! Matcha was so much better and the people who work there were lovely! Matcha mama is a cute concept with swings and instagram picture worthy but service and matcha was below par...would go elsewhere! read more

This place is so cute! I found it on Instagram and knew I had to go. I had the mamacita smoothie and it was one of the best smoothies I've ever had. You can see the girls cutting the fresh fruit and taking their time to make each smoothie. I love that Tulum is so health conscience. Amazing acai bowls, only reason it's not 5 stars is because it's a bit pricey compared to the rest of the food around. It's not any more expensive than acai bowl spots at home though, it's just so trendy right now so I get it. Not enough food for a meal, but if you're just looking for a frozen treat, than I definitely recommend, by far the best acai bowl I've ever had. read more

Went here every day we stayed in tulum and never got sick of it. The Reishi latte and mango tango (pictured) were some of my favorites. Nothing was artificially flavored - you can tell that they use high quality, natural ingredients. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in tulum! read more
