Matari Latte (CAD $8)
Aya E.

Ordered: Matari Latte (CAD $8): green tea, Himalayan pink salt, milk, and spices topped with roasted pistachios and flower petals Aya's take: Living in NYC, we have our fair share of Yemeni coffee but Matari hasn't made it out there yet so we stopped by to check them out. They were decently busy but there's plenty of seating! I also liked the modern design of the cafe. I didn't feel strongly about anything on the menu and went with their Matari Latte. I figured it would be good as it is their signature drink. The worker asked me if I wanted sugar, to which I said to make it however it comes. I will be honest - the drink has no flavor. The most prominent taste is the Himalayan salt but it most definitely needs some sugar. Once I added a pack of Stevia, it was a lot more pleasant. It's also not the strongest drink as it's just green tea but it's warm, soothing, and a pretty pink color. The roasted pistachios and flower petals make the drink super aesthetic but it just got in the way with every sip. I had to scoop them out before taking a sip. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt and perhaps there are better options to try when they open up in NYC.

medium mofawar to go! front of the store.

This place was cool! I went in the morning and once I walked in, I could smell all the aromas of coffee, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg etc. It was so inviting! The interior looks really cool and there are lots of tables (mostly for seating 2-4 people) so I can understand how it's a cool spot to hang out with your friends. From my understanding, this plaza gets really lively at night, but in the morning (between 9-10am*), it was so quiet and empty! I ordered the Mofawar coffee at the front and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to adjust my sweetness level. I paid, got my buzzer for my order and hardly got to sit down before my coffee was ready! Now, the coffee itself wasn't my favourite. While I like cardamom, light sweetness, and cream, I think the coffee just felt a little on the burnt side for me. The reason I give 4 stars despite not really liking the coffee much is because I still drank it because after it had cooled down slightly, it actually tasted better! Though even saying that sounds slightly blasphemous (hot coffee that has cooled down is... better?!?!) I would love to come back here to try the chai because the blends of spices just smelled so delicious, I feel like it'd be an amazing spiced chai! *Their hours listed on Yelp are off! They were definitely open before 12pm when I went (hence the 9-10am timing). Check out their website (linked on this Yelp page) for their location hours since they differ by the day!

Order at the front. Buzzer is given. Once your order is ready, buzzer will go off. Cute interior. Was at 60% capacity so fairly busy for a Saturday afternoon. Matari had a floral hint - wasn't my favourite. The Adeni was a classic. Nice thick and creamy.

Was happy to see this Yemani cafe opening up. The ambiance is lovely, brightly lit up featuring some statement art. They have really created a space for all to enjoy. They have a water station as well. There is ample amount of seating available. Now, I wanted to give them another chance as my first experience was subpar. Came back to try again and unfortunately I found my self drinking bitter Adeni Tea again. Now you might be thinking, just add more sugar. It isn't necessarily about the sugar but the fact it tasted over cooked yet once again or tea that had been sitting in the pot overtime. Unfortunately, I won't return for the tea but other items like the honey comb bread (if made fresh) and coffee was great.

The quality of these drinks are great. I found the service to be quick for a busy time in the restaurant. The ambiance is good. There are seats but sometimes it's hard to find a table. People are there on their laptops or talking with Friends or family. They have so many options for desserts and drinks

Such a cozy, busy coffee shop! This place is filled to the brim with people which just adds to the atmosphere. The shop smells like delicious coffee, and the actual drink doesn't disappoint. We grabbed the Mofawar drink- creamy and full of flavour. It had a sweet tinge to it, as you can choose the level of sweetness of the drink. They also had this special date dessert at the counter that was dairy, gluten and sugar free and yet tasted delicious. The decor is well-thought out and elegant- even the bathroom is sleek marble. All in all, this place is definitely worth it!

This place was recommended by friends and family for their late night tea. They have plenty of seats and are always busy. Once you place your order you get a buzzer which rings once your food is ready. We were here after dinner on a week night and this place was very busy! We were able to find a table for 4. The tea/coffee alone is expensive, however pro tip is to get the tea kettle and the per cup math works out. The tea is absolutely amazing! The Yemeni black tea is strong and paired well with the honeycomb. We will definitely be back.

Crossant was so good too!

The texture of the croffles had a crispiness on the outside which made this dessert delightful to take a bite into. We chose the Honeycomb, Tiramisu and White Chocolate Matcha. We thoroughly enjoyed each flavour but a personal favourite of mine would be the tiramisu. My friend's personal favourite was the honeycomb. We're both not into white chocolate but to our surprise, we enjoyed the White Chocolate Matcha flavour as well. The matcha's earthiness really complemented the touch of sweetness of the white chocolate. The cream on top of the croffle was also rich and smooth. The ice cream was a good addition. As mentioned in my previous review, the server was friendly and had a warm smile. The place encouraged people to connect with each other and I thought it was a cozy place to do just that. Overall, I would come back again to try out their other desserts.

The parking lot is shared with the other units. On weekends, you might have to park further but there's always some available. After going to Hey Noodles, I wanted something sweet. The cafe was packed on a Saturday afternoon. There were still a lot of pastry options to choose from, but limited flavors on cakes. I got a mochi cookie and a HK pastry that they heated up. Great atmosphere and friendly service! I will be coming back again for another sweet treat soon.
