The most professional contractors we've ever worked with and truly the only company we will use going forward. We first used them for a bathroom remodel in 2014 and enjoyed the experience so much they were the first company that came to mind when we found ourselves in need of a contractor again. This time around it was the kitchen that needed the work and George and his team were truly wonderful. They signed up with us on short notice and worked hard to ensure tasks were completed in a very quick and timely manner. Absolutely amazing. I've done construction before and it was a nightmare. No one showed up for weeks, and the project took forever to complete. Cornerstone construction made me want to continue making beautiful improvements to the house. We hired Cornerstone recently for an office remodel - completely gutting the existing suite so we could have a workspace functional for all of our needs. Because we're in an office building, we had strict guidelines to follow. Most of the work had to be done after 6pm during the week (only "quiet" work could be done during the day) and then limited hours on the weekend. Cornerstone helped transform the original dark, drab office suite into a gorgeous open floorplan along with a separate office, conference room and kitchenette. George and Jon were great to work with, as well as everyone they hired for the job. They responded to our requests promptly and were always making sure that we were satisfied. About 3 months ago, I came home from work to a burst pipe in 2nd floor bathroom and water everywhere throughout the house. I knew I had a long journey ahead of me before the house was repaired and back to normal. I interviewed 7 contractors, including Cornerstone Construction. I immediately felt at ease when George (owner) came by to assess damage and provide an estimate. Cornerstone Construction's estimate was the most competitive and I decided to hire them. Since my insurance company required a written estimate before funds can be released, George was more than helpful to provide a detailed list of work required to begin repairs. Once the contract was signed and my furniture and personal belongings moved, George and his crew began work on this 6 week project. The project included gutting the entire house, which included demolition of all 3 bathrooms, as well as kitchen. All flooring was removed as well as acoustic ceiling. There was also major drywall work to be repaired due to water damage. George kept me in the loop throughout the entire process, and made sure to return phone calls, texts and emails in a very timely fashion. George always provided ideas and recommended different options which were cost effective as well as practical. I had a very set budget in mind, and George always made sure we were always within that budget. I met several people on George's team, and was very impressed by their level of expertise, craftsmanship, and their excellent customer service. I met with George on a weekly basis to discuss the project and gauge progress. George made sure we passed all city inspections without any issues. I finally moved back to my house last week and could not be happier with the final results. I feel like I just purchased a new house and I have Cornerstone Construction to thank. I will definitely call on George and his team again for any home improvement projects. My husband and I recently purchased a home in Woodland Hills, California and eagerly got started on renovating it before we could move in. We were referred to Cornerstone Construction through a friend and ended up using them because they were professional, were able to come out and give me an estimate right away, and got started immediately! They helped me figure out exactly how to renew our home and give a fresh flare, without spending money where we didn't need to. They handled getting permits, going to the city, and buying the materials needed to keep the project moving forward and without delay. We shared our time constraint with them and they were able to complete the project within a reasonable timeframe. My husband and I wanted an open-floor plan for the kitchen/dining/living area and wanted it to feel modern and bright. George, Mike, and Jon along with the crew from the company helped bring that feel to life. We remodeled all three bathrooms, changed the flooring, added recessed lights, revamped the kitchen cabinets and changed the layout, knocked down walls, and redid the fireplace area. Outdoors we repainted the home and re-did the roof. While there were some days when no workers showed up, it was a lot of work done in a short amount of time. This review is long overdue: When we moved into our new building in Northridge, it was necessary to do a good-sized tenant improvement project. We added a large conference room, office, and a new bathroom. Also, there were walls moved inside. I obtained several quotes from 3 different contractors one of which was Cornerstone which I found on Yelp here. Jon and George did a complete walkthrough of the property with me utilizing my architect's plans and took measurements and gave me some great ideas about how we could best utilize the space, keeping costs and aesthetics also in mind. After obtaining 2 other bids, I realized that Cornerstone was the right company for my project. Their bid was very detailed as to what was included, and this left no surprises at the end of the job. I found Jon and Mike to be very good at the project management side of things. They always strived to get some work done when possible even if it was just for a few hours, while we were awaiting other things such as inspections or materials. Their subcontractors are top-notch and all of the plumbing, electrical work, drywall, and paint are still working fine. I really do have a lot of experience working with subcontractors as I happen to own a restoration company and have done lots of remodeling due to real investment. I can honestly say that these guys are on top of their game, and really do great work at reasonable prices. Chuey, their main guy for framing, doors, and window work is an absolute artisan and incredible worker. This guy can build anything. The other subcontractors such as painters, plumbers, electricians, and HVAC contractors were all top-notch. We truly love our new additions and improvements. We are very happy with the final results of the remodel. The tile work is particularly nice. Jon was very professional and pleasant and made sure that we were happy as things moved along but there were some bumps along the way. There was no supervision happening on site and because of that the shower was framed at the wrong size. I believe it was George who came over to help "solve" the problem. He rushed my decision making and while we came up with an elegant solution to the problem it was not explained to me that the new shape of the shower would make the shower glass more expensive. I think cornerstone may be taking on too many projects at once. I also had an issue with one of the workers dumping their material slurry in my backyard and in the fish pond. The issue was corrected but should have never happened in the first place. I also found my own tools and compressor mixed among that same workers tools and despite my best efforts to keep things separate they kept using my stuff. In the end, everything looks nice but I wish my house and my things were treated with more respect. read more

Our IT company subleased some office space and we were looking for a construction company to come in and build a wall dividing the space. We reached out to a few local construction companies for a quote, and Cornerstone was the fastest to respond. Their numbers beat out the rest of the competition and we decided to have them do this project. Jon from Cornerstone was super attentive and efficient. He walked us through the whole process and made sure that our building management would approve the construction. The wall was built within two weeks and the final product looked incredible. There are so many great things to say about George at Cornerstone that I don't know where to begin. We relocated to a new area, didn't know anyone, knew nothing about construction and needed a lot of work done on the house before we could move in. We met with many contractors but as soon as we met with George, we knew we had found our guy. George is professional, honest, friendly and punctual for every single interaction and his team is hard working. Most importantly, we paid not a penny more than the original bid and he delivered exactly when quoted. You simply can't ask for more!! He is also a great designer providing helpful feedback on what materials to use. He has great vendors to work with for all your materials needs. He and his team also went above and beyond helping us to understand what items we could save on vs need to spend on for functionality purposes. He knows his stuff. We used Cornerstone to completely re-do our kitchen, bathrooms, and other projects which entailed demo,knocking some walls out, plumbing, electrical updates, tankless water heater, appliance installations carpentry, granite, tile, flooring, recessed lighting, detailed painting, staining a banister and mantle to match. Basically, every surface of our house was redone. Random note, as I female whose husband was away for work during the whole project and having a toddler & newborn & balancing work while undergoing the extensive remodel, I felt so comfortable dealing with him. My husband and I never got in any fights through the whole process of what could have been very stressful and we owe it to George who is so much more than a contractor. It has been 1 year since working with Cornerstone and we having been saving up to do more projects with them. We are still so happy with the quality of work. Look no further than Cornerstone for your needs! Drama free, worry free, and excellent communication from George, the owner. First off, he gave me a quote for my new kitchen that was beyond reasonable. I got several quotes from other companies; I was doing a full kitchen gut and remodel, leading into the dining area. I was floored by his quote, as some companies were almost insulting with what they wanted to charge. I didn't choose Cornerstone simply to save some coin either, he was very friendly, had great ideas, but also listened to my and my wife's ideas, and had a "we'll make it happen" attitude. First, understand that Cornerstone does CUSTOM work. When discussing the dimensions of our pantry, I was caught up on the standard 18" or 24" widths and whatnot. George said, "We make our own cabinets....we'll make them exactly how you want them." Did I mention that his quote was the most reasonable....AND I got a custom kitchen. My wife and I new exactly what we wanted, and how we wanted the layout, etc. George worked with all of our ideas, used the materials that we wanted to purchase (tile, brick, etc), and when imparting his ideas, was never pushy. The project manager, Mike, was at the project probably over 90% of the time, making sure everything was running smoothly. He's a great communicator and an all-around nice guy. Both Mike and George are professionals; total people persons and were very aware that they were in MY home, acting respectfully and courteously. As far as my kitchen goes, they built all new custom cabinets, installed crown moulding, ran new electrical, moved existing electrical, ran new plumbing, framed a new window, repaired stucco, prepared my raised foundation for tile, installed tile and brick veneer on my backsplash and feature wall, installed (large) new French doors, painted, installed countertops, and installed new appliances. The tile floor we chose were very large concrete "looking" tiles. My wife and I wanted the smallest grout lines as possible to make it look like a concrete floor. Their tile guy knocked it out of the park. The brick veneer we chose - we wanted large grout lines, like a normal brick wall. Again, they knocked it out of the park with the mortared look. The stucco that was repaired around the new doors and window was seamless-better than I've ever seen. The photos included with this review pretty much speak for themselves. But what you don't see is the professionalism with Cornerstone. And what impressed me the most, was that when something didn't go as planned, or something unforeseen happened (as with ANY construction job), they just corrected what needed to be, explained things to me and my wife, and DIDN'T NICKEL AND DIME me for something that was slightly out of the scope of work!! Also, we had a very detailed contract and payment schedule - there was no ridiculous down payment, and fair and even payments through out the process. I've learned my lesson through NUMEROUS projects and contractors throughout my home ownership, that you get what you pay for. I've had all-out disasters. I spent the time on this review because this company deserves it. My wife and I have a kitchen that belongs in a magazine, and everyone who walks into my kitchen is blown away!! If you want drama; love weirdos in your home; like shotty and boring work; and want an untrustworthy contractor - don't choose Cornerstone. It has now been almost a month since George and his crew finished our job, I was happy that they had finished close to budget and on time and wrote a fairly pleasant review. However, I had to micromanage the entire project and have found issues with his work that George has not addressed. I contacted George about the issues noted below and waited a week, no reply. I contacted him again, but this time took down my positive Yelp review. I heard back immediately. I was "his number one priority". Another two weeks have passed and I have still not heard back. I now no longer want him to come back and correct the problems he made. I am moving on and will look for a different builder to finish up. He was the cheapest quote. George's pleasant demeanor convinced me he would get the job done to a satisfactory standard. George picked good paint colors and has a very talented tiler that works for him. However, there were several other issues. His foreman speaks very poor English and Spanish. He could not communicate with the mainly Spanish-speaking tradesmen that filled our house. He spoke very quickly and was almost impossible to understand, when we spoke to him gestured that he understood but invariably didn't. This led to lots of problems. George said we should call him (George) to talk about things but this proved painful as he didn't always answer his phone and then couldn't visualize what we were talking about. If I can't talk to the foreman on my property, what I am paying him for? The foreman would say that workers were coming at 8am -- but they regularly arrived at 7am, rang the doorbell and wanted to start work. The plumbers that work for him are total cowboys. They fixed a mainline leak, but according to George it was a complete coincidence that it was also the same day that my sprinklers malfunctioned. When questioned on this, he basically washed his hands of the situation, saying it wasn't anything to do with them. When I pushed the situation, they put in a stop valve meaning the sprinklers can now either all be on or all off. A measure that still means I have to pay someone to fix my sprinklers. These plumbers also urinated down the side of my house on that Sunday, even though they had access to the inside of the house. The pathway stank for days. The plumbers also charged me $225 for 3 plugs that were needed for my new vanities. They were supposed to be pop up plugs. These are in fact screw down plugs that don't stop the water so it is impossible to fill a sink up. They also have 2 showers plumbed incorrectly, the snowflake symbol now produces hot water and the flame symbol now produces freezing cold water. To top this off some of his plumbers turned up to our house twice without knowing who George was or what the 'job' was. My pregnant wife was naturally unsure of allowing people into our house that didn't know our contractor was or what the job was. Following his advice I opted out of replacing some gold edged mirrored doors and had his painter spend two days painting them silver. After a month, I still have paint coming off in my hand when I pull on the doors. On top of this there is paint on the mirror and thumb prints all of the edging. I had asked for a refund on two days of his painter, as this was his idea and now a complete waste. He agreed to give me $300 back but again, I haven't heard back from him on that either. When we went with George to buy tile for our bathroom he helped us with some color and style choices but forgot exactly what types of tile we needed for all the corners and edges. Luckily his tiler (who was excellent) managed to create his own uniform edge on the tile, but naturally charged me for it. If it weren't for the tiler, this job would have dragged on while we ordered new tile. I expect my builder to know this basic knowledge. George was constantly corrected by his subcontractors on things that could and could not be done. I took a lot of time off work to ensure things went well as I just didn't trust George or his contractors to get what I wanted done. The final product looks ok but on closer inspection I would rather have paid a bit more and gone with someone else more knowlegeable. read more

When the bathroom flooded into the kitchen of our home we knew we needed to team up with a crew who would work with us as quickly as possible to reconstruct the damage the water left. Having used George and his team at Cornerstone Construction in the past there was no question they were top on the list to use again. This experience with them has been equally as good and we are forever grateful to the entire company for performing such quality work in a short amount of time. George made time to meet with us on very short notice to discuss the work that was needed and also discussed our options for making it a cost effective reconstruction noting that this was not a project we were planning for. We spent roughly a week after this meeting purchasing materials and getting the details in order. Work included demoing the kitchen, reconstructing walls, replacing counter tops and back splash, painting, plumbing, and electrical work. Then it was time to hit the ground running. After just about 5 weeks the entire project is now complete and our kitchen and bathroom are back in order. This quick turn around has been seamless. We have worked with other contractors in the past and nothing has compared to Cornerstone Construction. Household projects can be very stressful and George, Mike, and crew made this as pleasant a process as possible. They communicate well, come when they say they will, and handle all business in a most professional manner. They are the only company I plan to use for future projects and I would recommend the same to anyone looking to do work on their homes. It will be one decision you will never regret. read more

Cornerstone built a deck for us in the summer of 2017 and we were very happy with it. However, after all the rain we had during the summer of 2018, it became apparent that the "ceiling" on the underside of the deck had developed significant problems which led to poor drainage, leaking and mold. Because it had been over a year since the deck had been installed, I contacted the company with serious reservations that they would do anything about it. But to my surprise, Cornerstone not only responded quickly with an apology, but the owner came out to rectify the problem free of charge! They really stand behind their work!! George's years of construction experience and his pleasing personality is what sold us. We obtained several estimates from reputable companies within the same price range, some a bit higher. George openly shared with us his background and the experience he has from pass jobs. He explained how he could modernize our home with the services that he now offers thru Cornerstone Construction. He remodeled our entire kitchen with custom cabinets, granite counters, full backsplash, and under mount sink with all the necessary plumbing and electrical. The kitchen ceiling was raised with recessed lighting added plus drywall work was done on the kitchen ceiling and walls. He also added a custom peninsula in the kitchen and a custom wet bar in our family room. Over 1000 square feet of new hardwood floors were installed in our home and some wall surfaces were repainted. George and his crew from Cornerstone Construction was very polite and cooperative while working in our home. The demolition was conducted in an efficient, clean manner to minimize disruption and soiling of other living areas. George provided many useful suggestions that aided us in finalizing design decisions while insuring that the quality of the construction was maintained. First time home repair/renovation experience: I purchased my first home in San Fernando Valley 4 months ago and there was a lot of work that needed to be done before move in. My home inspection identified major plumbing, electrical and other miscellaneous issues including a deck in the backyard that had been neglected and devoured by termites. I didn't know who to choose to do all these work so I did a Yelp search and found Corner Stone Construction. I actually comparison shopped between this general contractor and individual plumbers, painters and electricians but found that even though I could save some money going with the individual vendors it would probably be a huge headache trying to coordinate all the work. I decided to go with Corner Stone Construction because they received great reviews on Yelp, the comments all speak to how honest George Abraham (owner) is. George gave me a quote that was reasonable and I got a discount because there was so much work to be done (always ask for a discount, it's my motto that if you don't ask you will never know). He estimated that all the work would be done in 5-6 weeks and that was perfect since it would leave me 2 weeks prior to move in. We started with plumbing because it was the bulk of the job. We changed out the entire plumbing system (different from sewer/drain) to copper. As soon as this was completed we moved to fix the electrical problems, moving the water heater from inside the house out to the garage, paint the entire house and cabinets and so on. I am the most impressed with the carpenter George employed because this man did wonders to my deck. It is beautiful, secure and very safe now! In all, the entire process took about 5.5 weeks as George quoted. Overall, I am very happy with George's professionalism, responsiveness, patience and willingness to be flexible on when changes had to be made. He also made the promise to honor his work for 2 years after completion of the work and payments were requested only for the work that has been done. With everything said, even though my overall experience was positive there were some bumps on the road including: the plumbers not installing the faucets properly and this required a couple of future visit to my house for repair, there was no charge because it was a workmanship issue; the plumber did not add a diversion pipe that goes from the water heater in the garage to the outside, this issue was also fixed after discussing it with George. I think as a consumer and a home owner you have the responsibility of staying on top of the work that needs to be done because the reality is George has numerous projects and he will not be able to remember every single detail of the works that is required for your house. He has been very fair and reasonable as long as he recognizes that the problem is an oversight or something related to workmanship and he will fix it. I hope George will not use these plumbers in the future because there were several issues that came up after the fact and truly should have been done correctly the first time around. Last bit of advice: always define early what work you want to do and how much you are willing to pay. After all this is a business transaction and you have to be your own best advocate. Don't accept subpart work because you have paid for it but also do not act like you own the man because you're paying him to do work on your house. I believe treating everyone with respect and being honest is the best policy to have a positive experience. In summary, be persistent, stay on top of the work, inspect the work as it is being completed, talk to George often and make sure you both agree on the work that needs to be done to avoid misunderstanding. read more

I contracted Cornerstone Construction to completely remodel my bathroom. The bathroom before the remodel was built in 1988 with old ugly tile with all over it. The toilet was leaking and the smell of sewage was quite prominent at times. George, the contractor and owner, definitely has an eye for modern style and had great recommendations for what a great modern bathroom would look like. The estimate was very accurate to what the final cost was. He only used high-quality materials which were still cost-effective and within my budget. The timeline before the project was also accurate to how long the project actually took. He personally went with me to choose all of the different tile that was going to be used. He was open to all of my ideas and said that he could do whatever I wanted to do. He also offered his expert opinion as to what could work and look great. His sub-contractors were all also very nice and their skill reflected that they were more artisans than technicians. The tile work, plumbing, electrical work, drywall work, glass-work, carpentry, and paining were all top-notch. The bathroom was embarrassing, smelly eyesore before Cornerstone Construction remodeled it. Now, anyone who comes over, is wowed by the bathroom when they see it and I'm proud to show it! read more

I've worked with Cornerstone Construction on two separate projects now. The first project was a large scale remodel of an office building. Aside from some challenges during the planning and permitting stages, the majority of the project went fairly smoothly. I've been involved in quite a number of construction projects over the years, residential and commercial, both from the contractor's side of the table and the client's. Unexpected challenges always come up along the way, and our project was no exception. Expect the unexpected. The only truly significant challenge came when Cornerstone's electrical subcontractor severely dropped the ball. The electrician performed work that was neither up to code nor according to the plans, resulting in much of it needing to be redone by another electrician. To George's credit, when other contractors might have walked off the job, he stuck it out and saw the project through to completion. The end result was that we endured some delays and increased costs, however it could have been far more painful if it weren't for the way in which George handled matters. Despite the challenges, and because of the way the George resolved those challenges, I called him for a second project when I needed some tile work done at my house. The pricing was competitive, the work was completed promptly and the craftsmanship was second to none. I had previously hired a handyman to do the tile work, and had to ask him to leave after seeing the quality of work he was doing. The tile work completed by Cornerstone, on the other hand, is simply beautiful. My plumber even commented on the quality of our shower surround when he came to install the shower trim. We had mosaic backsplash installed in our kitchen and large format porcelain tiles installed in our main bathroom tub surround, and both look amazing. The best measure of customer service is not whether or not there are challenges, but the manner in which those challenges are handled. We certainly encountered challenges, however the manner in which they were handled ultimately resulted in me choosing to do business with Cornerstone Construction once again. The second project went flawlessly, and I'm sure I will do business with them again in the future. George has earned my trust. read more

I finally moved into the house of my dreams, so I did everything I could to find the "Right" contractor. And by right, I mean honest. George didn't disappoint. He is the most straightforward and honest contractor I've been working with. This kitchen remodel was not much different than my previous remodeling projects. I got my fair share of setbacks, delays and surprises, which are in fact inherent to the very nature of major remodels. The difference however, is that George dealt with every situation in a composed, fair and cost effective manner. George is a true professional. The same can be said of his team. The electrician called me after each stage was completed to ask me if I was happy with his work and if I needed him to do anything else. The kitchen cabinet guy went above and beyond our expectations. Finally one person who's attention to details is matching mine - almost! 2 weeks after the plumbing was completed, the water line leading to the fridge was leaking, damaging the new kitchen cabinets. I left a message to George and he called me back the same day telling me not to worry and that he will take care of everything. The plumber spent an additional 2-3 hours and upgraded the plastic line to a flexible copper line. Hats off! Don't expect perfection though. I thought that the demolition crew could have done a better job closing off the living room to block the dust from covering the furniture. Some delays between jobs could certainly have been reduced. But is there is no such thing as perfection! Most importantly, in dealing with George, I had someone that was both reliable and trustworthy. A rare occurrence in this trade.
