We recently completed a full home remodel in Sherman Oaks with Olympia Construction, and the…read moreexperience was excellent from start to finish. We received five different estimates, and Olympia was right in the middle price-wise, which felt fair and reasonable. One of the main reasons we chose them was their strong online reviews, and we also spoke with two of their past clients in Sherman Oaks who had completed similar projects. Both had only great things to say, which gave us a lot of confidence. From our first meeting, we had a great feeling about Ryan--he's professional, honest, and easy to work with. That positive energy continued throughout the entire project. This was a true full home remodel: wall removal, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, flooring, windows, painting, plumbing, electrical rewiring, insulation, and more. Everything was clearly documented upfront, and the project followed the contract exactly. There were no surprises or unexpected charges, which is something we were especially cautious about after hearing stories from friends. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt genuinely thankful for the experience and the results. Olympia Construction delivered exactly what they promised. Highly recommended!

I am an out of state landlord in the Austin area. My SFH had significant water damage in one of…read morethe bathroom due to tenant abuse. My plumber did the initial investigation to rule out obvious water leaks and recommended me to hire a contractor to investigate further. I was weary of giving this job to just anyone, as I wanted a contractor that could not only assess full extent of the water damage, but also to provide an honest estimation to remediate and complete within budget and timelines. I did not want to piecemeal out this job to multiple pros. After interviewing multiple contractors, Pier stood out as the right contractor for the job for the following reasons: - Was a Licensed Contractor (I had multiple vendors tell me how TX does not require license, but for the nature of my job the license was reassuring and proof of the necessary skills to investigate and resolve the root cause) - Was able to talk in detail and show pictures of past bathroom renovations (some contractors stated that they had the skills for the job but could not show evidence of past renovations) - Was able to provide full estimates and itemization of labor and materials (other contractors could not detail their estimate and it only led to more questions of their ability to do the work AND manage costs of project) - Had a great attitude in our initial conversations and happily answered all of my questions regarding his qualifications and experience (many contractors did not respond or seemed annoyed at further questions) After I selected Pier for the job, he wasted no time in getting started. He was able to do the full assessment and shared his findings with me with pictures and video call. Pier kept me actively involved throughout the project. For example, when key decisions were necessary on demolition / purchase of new materials, he asked for my input so that there were not any surprises on impact to the house or costs over runs. As project scope was further defined and changed, Pier was able to update estimates to reflect those decisions. The final results speak for themselves and the craftsmanship of the job exceeded my expectations. Feedback from new tenants and PM reflect it as well. Most importantly, I know Pier did not take any shortcuts and completely the remediation like a true pro. Since this project I have also hired Pier for various jobs including full interior painting, and smaller maintenance tasks. During an extremely stressful time for me, Pier was that super contractor that was able to bail me out, and since then has repeatedly proven to be a reliable pro that I can always depend on. For anyone looking for a trustworthy contractor for large and small jobs, I would definitely recommend them to talk to Pier.

The work…read moreinvolved not just replacing the entire footing/foundation, but also leveling interior floors, adding a few posts and support beams under the raised foundation, and replacing the front patio cement area. It was a complex job but we always felt confident Luis and his dad would do a good job based on their prior experience working for a larger foundation repair company. Luis was very easy to work with from coordinating plans/permits, keeping to schedule, and scope changes along the way (LADBS was a PITA). Luis kept in touch every step of the way, and his pricing was the best out of 5+ bids we got. He was always looking out for our bottom line and worked very efficiently. Normally the type of foundation replacement we did requires multiple inspector visits but Luis knew the process well and only required one inspection after the work was done, saving us a lot of money. Change orders were handled professionally and very fair to both sides. Everything turned out great (I'm writing this review a year later after the work was completed). I highly recommend Angel Construction and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

We were originally getting estimates for enclosing our garage breezeway to create a laundry room…read more We got estimates from several other contractors who all wanted to sell us what they thought that should be (which were all beyond our budget). We contacted Victor at City Builders on Yelp based on excellent reviews before giving up and Moses came out for the estimate. Instead of trying to sell us something overly expensive for what we thought we wanted, he took the time to show us several indoor options to create an indoor laundry area at a fraction of the cost. We were so enthused at having room left in our budget that we expanded the project to convert our older electric cooktop to a new gas cooktop. We had a quote in hand the next day, and he was able to start work the following week. All the new water and gas lines, appliance installations, drywall work and touch up were done faster than expected. The finished work is amazing, and we were extremely impressed. We know picking the right contractor is difficult, and there's a lot on the line. We have no problem recommending City Builders and know that we'll be calling them for whatever future home improvement remodeling we may need.

What they delivered was unsafe, defective work and months of stress. After the job was completed, I had two independent licensed gate and fence professionals inspect the installation. Both found serious safety and code violations. The gate-operator entrapment safety device was bypassed and left sitting under the operator instead of being installed properly. The pedestrian gate near my pool was not self-closing or self-latching as required by California law -- leaving me exposed to serious liability and potential injury to anyone on my property. On top of the safety issues, the fence and gate assembly were fabricated about a foot too short, leaving large gaps under several panels that a person can crawl under. Instead of correcting the mistake, City Builders added "patch" pieces to hide it. Welds were missing or only tacked in multiple spots, posts were visibly extended with seams, and the gate operator was anchored with undersized hardware with exposed wiring pushed into the dirt. I sent City Builders detailed defect reports and photos -- including the findings from both independent inspectors. Rather than owning the problems and presenting a clear remediation plan, they dismissed my concerns as an "inflated scope," made partial repair attempts that made some things worse, and walked away leaving me to cover the cost of proper repairs. I have filed a formal complaint with the Contractors State License Board with full documentation. If you care about safety, code compliance, and accountability, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.
