We had a narrow window of 3 weeks to complete our extensive renovations (when we were closed) and they completed all renovations on time. This was not an easy project, as we updated 7 children's bathrooms to be touch-less and more energy efficient, updated 6 teacher classroom work areas and added an HVAC system for 3 rooms. My wife and I live in the Santa Clarita area and we reach out to multiple contractors to help us build a retaining wall, concrete stairs, and a two car parking area on our hillside. I figured now that it has been over a year since my initial remodel with cornerstone, that I should write an update on the things that have developed since. As I wrote in my previous review, I had a glowing experience remodeling my entire newly purchased home. I had just left the downstairs bathroom, the laundry room, and a few odds and ends incomplete. I had George come back in to finish the place up, and we both got our creative juices flowing on the downstairs bathroom. It was honestly a ton of fun - we would visit the tile places together, and look at fixtures online together, and really got to feed of of each other's creative energy. We had websites like pinterest and houzz up tossing ideas back and forth, and finally we created the ultimate bathroom (at least in my eyes :) ). When people come over they say it looks like something out of a fancy hotel, everyone is blown away. Better yet, it cost SIGNIFICANTLY less than other contractors wanted to charge for a completely basic/boring bathroom. In addition, I had an issue with a couple of the cabinet doors in the kitchen getting some paint bubbles in them - no questions asked, George took the doors to his cabinet maker and had them all re-done. I am fortunate to have had Cornerstone Construction remodel my home. George did an amazing job and I'm super happy with the results. Even though this was my first ever renovation, I knew more or less what I wanted to accomplish: a full kitchen and bathroom remodel along with recessed lighting and new paint throughout the house. But I had no idea where to begin looking for a contractor. Fortunately, I met a friend/client of George's and got to see the impressive work that George did for him. So I called George and was pleased with how friendly he was over the phone. George has a genuine attitude and really looks out for your best interests, and this stood out to me compared with other contractors I talked to. So I decided to go forward with George. After going over the plans, George came back with a reasonable estimate and timeframe. But once the demolition work started and I saw how dirty things would get, I worried that the outcome would not look like the pictures on Pinterest or Houzz. I've finally found an honest and affordable construction company!! :D After my parents had to deal with another construction company (that will remain nameless), I made sure to do my homework before hiring anyone to work on my home! I had recently found a home and I was really worried about closing the deal because the previous owners had completely trashed the house. It was filthy, grimy, and somewhat non-functional. I asked Cornerstone to come look at the house and for George to give me his opinion. I didn't want to spend a lot and I didn't know how to fix it! I handed George a disaster and I got back a piece of art. Everyone that comes to see the house is amazed especially those that saw the before and after. I had a lot of time constraints so I asked Cornerstone to finish as fast as possible while still maintaining high standards and quality of work. The turn around time...less than 3 WEEKS! He renovated the kitchen (see pic), bathrooms, new paint and carpet aside from giving me additional surprises I didn't expect (building me 2 closets and using extra granite material to build me a beautiful mantel on top of the fireplace!). Because I am not creative at all, I trusted George to make a lot of the decisions for me and I am so proud of the outcome. He was like my contractor as well as interior designer! I already referred Cornerstone to two other people I know and he will be working on those projects as well. While we interviewed a few contractors first, we met George after we visited a friend's remodel in the neighborhood. He put together sketches and mock-ups that helped me explore several options and layouts. Plus, George came up with creative ways to work within our agreed budget without sacrificing quality. Contractors are infamous for quoting one price at the beginning of a project and then asking for more money once construction begins. With Cornerstone this was never an issue. George broke down the project into logical phases and put together a clear payment schedule in our contract. I appreciated George's foresight and transparency in this area. Even for a project as large as mine, I was always confident that we were within our agreed budget at every stage of construction. Cornerstone was able to complete the entire project in under eight weeks by working six days a week. That's impressive considering the scale of the project. I was also surprised by how many people were working in parallel. There were days when nearly ten people were working on site at the same time. Even though we were on a tight schedule, Cornerstone didn't cut corners (no pun intended). Asked if they install "Piers" apparently support for the existing home we are buying that needed a few added per the inspection. He said no we just do remodel. I asked if they building guest units as i needed a permitted guest house built and he said "no" I said your rather short. He said "yes" Although I have a lot of other remodel work, I got a bad vibe from him right off the bat. Decided not to use them. They seem pretty busy since it took a few phone calls to get through. So: during the last big rain we had at the end of April beginning of May all the underground electrical shorted out between the pool equipment and the breaker box for the house. I obtained a quote from a well-known electrical company (reviewed on Yelp) and the quote to replace the electrical was $6,000. My home was built in 1953 and the pool was installed in 1957. (old school kidney shaped). According to my neighbor, who is the original owner of her house (1954!), the last time the pool was re-freshed was after the 1994 earthquake. 25 years ago. My gunite was showing, the plumbing was ancient, the pool equipment was barely hanging on and was right next to the pool and looked terrible. Do I just replace the electrical or do I re-fresh the whole thing. I contacted five contractors and they were all over the map in quotes. I had quotes from $15k to $40k. I contacted Cornerstone and George came out and was super cool and straightforward. I liked them immediately. He quoted me a "middle of the pack quote" for new electrical, plumbing, relocate the equipment to the corner of the yard, new plaster and new tile for the pool and a super cool LED pool light with different color settings and all labor. I was stoked. Jon is the other partner in the business and oversees the construction. What a great guy. Always available by phone for questions and very professional. I am a pretty hands off client that just wants what was promised at a fair price. The crews that came to the house were awesome, clean, professional, cleaned up everyday..just amazing. We were looking for a good contractor to remodel/repair part of the first floor of our home after a water leak in our downstairs bathroom. George from Cornerstone came out and was honest about what we could and should do within our budget. After speaking with him, we decided to use Cornerstone to remodel not only the downstairs bathroom, and repair the water affected areas, but we decided to remodel our dated upstairs hall bath as well, and also install new flooring downstairs. George, Mike and the rest of their team did a great job! This is the second time we've used George and Cornerstone Construction for work on our rental property. The first time there was a clogged drainage system in one of the bathrooms as well as a leaking shower manifold. They were able to come up with a custom solution without ripping out the shower tiles. Saved a lot of $$$. This time the tenants complained of excess water usage and loud noise under the floors. George has come up with a comprehensive plan to address these problems along with a few other issues. He is installing a new pressure regulator to lower pressure thus using less water we hope! I contracted Cornerstone Construction to remodel my entire kitchen. All of the tiles, cabinets, and major appliances were done and installed by George Abraham and his amazing team. My experiences to date with George and Cornerstone Construction have been nothing but amazing. They were able to get the job done efficiently and completed everything that we wanted done to our wanting.
