This requires a lot of work, and this is ot a non-profit shop. I brought in several old Mcintosh vintage pieces. They needed a lot of work. One ended up costing a lot more to repair than what was estimated. They stuck to the estimate and asked if I would not mind at least paying for the additional parts needed. They basically lost money restoring an MP1-4 (look it up it is rare). they did it as a labor of love. They told me few were made and only a couple had ever come through the shop. They restored a pre-amp, tuner and power amp as well as the MP1. John explained what could and should not be done to bring these back to pristine condition. This is an honest good shop with techs who love working on vintage gear. I have to check if they are back up and running after the fire. I hope so!

I brought 2 GPUs in to get fixed -- 1 just had a loose fan, and the other had a firmware issue. Took over 2 weeks for them to get the GPU fan fixed (if it was fixed before then, they failed to contact me to let me know). On top of that, when I took the GPU out of the box, I noticed it was damaged! The tech obviously had dropped it and didn't think it was necessary to tell me! What a way to leave a bad taste in my mouth--lost my trust immediately at this point. We're already a month past when I first brought them in, and I'm STILL waiting on my other GPU! Frankly, I think I'll be going in tomorrow to get it back. I've sent multiple messages through Yelp when I've been busy at work, and they just leave me on "read" with no reply. Do NOT bring your stuff here. They will tell you that you can reach them whenever you'd like--but that definitely wasn't the case for me. Shelter In Place review…read more Even before Shelter In Place began in the bay area, Apple stores shut down, and my appointment to repair my cracked screen was cancelled. My phone was still functioning, and I am in support of safety measures, so I didn't fret too much. As my cracks expanded, I did wonder when phone repair would become an essential service. If someone's phone is not functional and they are an isolated person, it would become a safety issue. A few weeks later, on a whim, I tried again with Apple to make an appointment. We pay the monthly insurance, so the repair would be covered. Apple offered me an appointment with Mobile Kangaroo, and I jumped at it. The service technician was smart, helpful, communicative, and practicing excellent safety precautions. My Apple insurance was honored, and everything was handled with maximum efficiency. Thanks for being there, Mobile Kangaroo!
