First time here and WOW, it was far beyond what I expected. It's a simple place with OUTSTANDING authentic food. Loved it!!!

Hands down the best taco joint in Surprise. The Arizona burrito is my jam but I plan on trying everything on the menu. The people giving bad reviews are probably snow birds from the midwest and are expecting generic ground taco meat. If you want Tex Mex garbage go to On the Border Karen. If you like burritos the size of a small child wrapped in homemade goodness this is the place for you. read more

Second time here in 24 hours. But poor ratings this time. I reviewed street taco the last this time in came became the taco were fabulous. So I thought I try something else well I tried # 6. Chile riano and cheese enchiladas combo Very bad to my surprise (I should have stayed with the tacos) placed the order thinking it going to be great. But no, the Chile relleno was cold the cheese in the enchilada wasn't even melted. So I returned it to the counter and told them Chile relleno was ice cold (it wasn't just made) like it came from the freezer. They gladly took it and redid the order. When it arrived thinking it's going to be better. But sorry to say it was happening. The Chile relleno was medium warm , very Bland. I was very disappointed so I say oh well just eat the Cheese Enchilada beans and rice. Well the cheese in the enchilada still wasn't melted. Bummed me out just eat the beans and rice all the other stuff,left it. Stick with the street tacos. read more

The gal at the front desk was friendly and patient as it was our first time here. I ordered the machaca burrito. It was huge and came with chips. The chips were stale. The eggs meat in the burrito were mushy and flavorless. My husband had a rolled taco combo. Nothing special. Very marginal, at best. Wondering if it was an off night from all the other reviews. Amazing!!!! Went in for lunch during the week and the place was packed (usually a good sign) I was worried about the wait time but the staff was super friendly and very fast! Food was absolutely great though! Highly recommend the fish tacos and the Carna Assad quesadilla! We will definitely be back soon! read more

This place is yummy and the price can't be beat. We just love the street tacos. The chicken and the carne asada are delish. I've also gotten the cheese enchiladas, which are mild and perfect for kiddos, and a breakfast burrito. I like that you can create your own. It's a decent size. I picked up an order here, with high hopes. We ordered a chimichanga and a shredded beef burrito enchilada style. When we got home, they looked awesome. However (this is where your taste Mexican style of food/regional) come into play. The chimichanga was fried to a nice crispness, but the ground beef was mixed with something (unsure) and didn't have a beefy taste Potatoes were found throughout it (chunks) and as I recall, refried beans. The spices were different to me. My partner's burrito was huge and well displayed. He found potatoes in his, too. This is what I mean about a person's particular taste. We don't mind a sort of hash brown or smaller fried potato in these dishes but not chunks. The Pico was delicious but the guacamole was a little understated. It looked and tasted like only jalapeño pepper had been added. Huge chunks of avocado were in it. I have never seen such plain and lack luster guacamole. Usually, diced tomato, some onion and cilantro with lime juice are incorporated. The chips were crisp and tasty. I recognize or believe this style of food and its preparation may be representative of a certain area of Mexico and leave it at that. The employees are super friendly and very kind. If this style of food is to your taste, come here. The portions are generous. read more

I've been here twice now, both times have been absolutely fantastic. The first time I had the master burro. It took me two days to eat it and the Carne Asada was really great. Today I stopped in for a Carnitas burrito and it was arguably the best carnitas I have ever had and definitely the best at a fast dining place. I'll never go to a Bertos again. read more

Just visited Master Tack for lunch today! I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was and the friendly staff. I have eaten at every Mexican food place in surprise and this one it at the top. It is much better than a Filiberto's or Federico's and it is privately owned! The atmosphere is lacking, but the food tastes great. I had a Carne Asada burrito and the beef was not overcooked and full of gristle like you get at other Mexican food places. Also, the guacamole is made fresh and you can taste the difference. I would recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of high quality and affordable Mexican food! read more

First impression on arriving that it was going to be very average. It was very fast service for ten people. I was a little shocked the food came before we finished the chips. I ordered the carne asada burrito and it was great. I kept going over to the salsa bar and refilling my salsa. Overall it was a great experience. The portions were generous. I'm a huge breakfast person. I usually opt to go to one of the ones that ends in "ertos". They are decent but Master Taco has one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. You get to choose from some options they have on the menu or build your own. The one thing I love is the fact that you get to choose hash browns as a option. Most places for breakfast burritos don't offer that only potatoes. Anyways I stick to the basics. Egg, sausage, bacon and hash brown. It's incredibly fresh and weighs more than I imagined. They offer Uber Eats as well. The lady inside seemed so friendly and appreciative for me stopping in. Love supporting small business that love offering great food! I tried Master Taco after reading some of the positive reviews. My first try was the Vegetarian Burrito. It came with rice and beans and the burrito was HUGE. Everything tasted amazing. I was hooked. I prefer vegetarian/vegan food but sometimes I get a meat craving. I am extremely picky about the leanness of my meat and a bite of the wrong thing ruins and ends my meal. I had a sudden craving for tacos and decided to be brave and try the Hard Shell Beef Tacos at Master Taco. I'm hooked...almost addicted. This is a small, very clean joint in a quiet strip mall in Surprise. There are a few eat in tables and booths and walk-in or call ahead carry out is available. Prices are very reasonable. Next time you want to get your taco on, try Master Taco. read more

Ordered 2 carne asada and 1 pastor street tacos and a bean and cheese burrito. Pastor was greasy, carne asada was dry and had little to no flavor. Tortilla on bean and cheese burrito was good and the beans were okay but had a heavy lard taste. Counter help didn't say thanks or anything. Got into Phoenix to visit family & it was already a little past 8:30pm. Looking on Yelp saw this was still open (as most places closed by 9pm) & wasnt to far away. Honestly should of skipped it. I tried asking questions about some of the dishes & cashier wasn't helpful @ all in explaining anything. In fact she didn't explain anything. I was fed up trying to find out about the dishes so I just ordered boring tacos. I ordered a side of Pico & was given this tiny container that aboit a tablespoon worth of Pico was in. Sorry but if your charging me for this it better be larger! I don't exactly recall the price but I know it was over $1. Food wasn't anything special. Won't be going back. read more

Stopped by Master Taco for a quick lunch. Nice clean spot with courteous customer service. I ordered the chicken tostada and a fish taco. Both were very good. Crisp tortillas and flavorful fried fish. The chicken was seasoned well but kind of a skimpy portion of chicken was my only complaint. Certainly worth a stop if you are looking for quick, inexpensive Mexican food in a pleasant environment. read more
