We've passed by Las Comadres a ton when we lived in El Mirage and decided to give them a try. It's a small restaurant with outdoor and limited indoor seating. You walk up and order at the window. We have been 2x and tried a sausage breakfast burrito and green chilaquiles. The breakfast burrito was so good! Served with egg, sausage, cheese, rice and beans. In the container we were also served a roasted jalapeño and onions. Delicious!! The chilaquiles had good flavor but didn't care for the soggy tortilla when we got home. Overall, a nice spot to get some quick Mexican food that tastes like it's right out of nanas kitchen! We will be back again! read more

The only reason I gave it a 4/5 stars is because it was a take out order and it was almost noon. You pull up to the window to order and get your own condiments in side, mind you that this is a small place with I believe six tables to dine in so it has that home cooked feel. I had both their menudo white and red with pata ( cow foot ). If you like your menudo with pata, you need to show up early on the weekends cause it sells out. Great little Mexican place. It is really hidden and you have to go to the edge of El Mirage to find it. This location used to be a Tasty Freeze I remember coming here in Junior High School. They really cleaned up and livened up the place, it is colorful and the staff is friendly. The food is good and they have a big menu. I am excited to try all the different items on their menu! I got charged almost $5 extra for pico de gallo on my burrito, there was such a small amount I thought they had forgotten to add it. When I showed them they unwrapped it and found some at the very bottom, but it was a teaspoon worth, it's very unfair I got charged extra for that amount. They remade it but they made it way smaller than the usual. For you guys to charge me extra for a spoonful of salsa and then remake my burrito obviously smaller than what I paid for is just unfair to your customers. What a great hidden treasure. My sister has been dying for me to try this spot so I did and was not disappointed. Had 2 carne asada tacos and 2 pastor tacos my husband had the large birria bowl. My son, his wife and I have a game we play to find the best Mexican food. Every couple weeks one of us picks a new restaurant for us to eat at. This week after reading Yelp reviews we decided on this place. Driving up we had our doubts as it looks a little shabby with tables out front and an order window and menu on the wall. We decided to sit inside which is tiny having maybe 6 tables, it was very clean and felt like we were sitting in the kitchen. Our server was a really nice young guy who answered our questions about the menu as well as give us his recommendations which he said was pretty much everything being good. My son ordered a carne asada burrito which was one of the best he said he's ever had, my daughter in law ordered one beef and one chicken taco being Taco Tuesday they were only a dollar 49 each which she loved and truly enjoyed the fresh tortilla lime onions and cilantro on the side. I decided on the chicken enchiladas and a taco Tuesday beef taco which was all very well done by the cook. The service was great, the food was excellent and the hole in the wall ambiance grew on me the longer we sat next to the kitchen tasting their homemade food. Sadly the mission and game my son and I play to seek new Mexican restaurants in the Valley might be severely damaged as we want to come back here for more great food. I've been driving past this place for ever, it seems. You can see driving on Grand are. The is situated in a peculiar location not accessible from Grand are. The other day I was looking for some items for my pet and it just happened to be up the road. So I gave it a try. At first glance the place looks a little run down, literally a hole in wall. I decided to give it a shot because there was actually a pretty good crowd waiting and ordering food. I finally placed my order. I got the carne asada ( grille steak ) burrito and a al pastor ( marinated pork ) I was amazed by the size and quantity of the food. They both had the right meat to rice and beans ratio. They were exceptionally delicious. They give a couple of salsas, hot, mild and a guacamole type salsa. Was totally surprised I would definitely recommend this place. I can honestly say that they have the best carne asada burrito in El Mirage and Surprise AZ. Being from California it's very difficult to find that perfect carne asada burrito.
