A very good clean shop in East York offers fair prices with above-average service. I'm sold to these guys.

Service provided was good, however my wife did not feel safe in this establishment while obtaining a safety check for our vehicle during the pandemic. With thousands of cases per day in Ontario, the owner and staff were not wearing masks properly or at all, and many people in the front shop including staff openly affirmed conspiracy theories and false information about COVID. It's a free country and you are allowed to have your own opinion but I don't intend to support this business further. read more

I am writing this review as one of my things to do before we move away. Over 15+ years, we have had nothing but excellent service and value from Dan, Chris, and the other people here. I took my first (old, rusty) car here when I was a student working nearby. I went there because it was the closest mechanic to my work. They were so nice to me. They sourced used parts so that I could more easily afford to do some needed repairs, and were always very honest with me about things that needed to be done, and things that could wait. They seemed to really understand my financial constraints, and worked within them. 15+ years later, even though I no longer work in the area, my husband and I continue to take our car to them. We bought our current car new in 2006 and took it to the dealer for the first few maintenance checks, but we decided to go back to Master Mechanic because we get better service and value here. For example, during our last regular maintenance check, the guy working on our car made a note that the catalytic converter had a cracked flex joint. They could have replaced it for us, but Dan advised us to check with the dealer first, because it might be under warranty. It was, and we had it replaced for free, saving us a lot of money and/or a nasty problem down the road. My husband will be taking our car in for the last time today. He phoned this morning because we suddenly need to replace our side mirror. We move in two days and don't have time to wait for parts to come in. The dealer was not able to get the part in time, but Chris at Master Mechanic phoned around for us. He will have the part by noon today and can install it while we wait. These guys really go the extra mile. We are going to miss having them as our mechanics. read more

Attended the shop for an early morning appointment (07:30) as my horn stopped working after i replaced the battery. I was assisted by Nick at the front counter and my car was taken in by the Technician promptly. Problem was resolved after about 5 minutes as the tech found a lead from the horn that was inadvertently unattached by yours truly. Nick refused to charge me as the issue was resolved quickly. my car caught fire after getting it repaired from master mechanic east york location!!! if it would have happened a bit before or after it actually happened - i would have had no choice other than to see my car completely burnt or probably die in that accident!!!! i am terribly disappointed and i request you if you value your customer even a bit, to take serious action against mr. glen - the advisor/manager at master mechanic east york location (address - master mechanic toronto - east york. 8 bermondsey road east, east york, on m4b 1z1). i am terribly disappointed with the service and glen was so rude and unprofessional. i don't even want to discuss about my personal experience with him right now which was pathetic. i am not sure if i have correct email address for your east york location. i changed the battery and alternator in my car in your east york centre on 20th nov 2015! i have original bill and proof of payment with me. today, that is within 20 days of getting my car repaired from your location, it started creating some weird noise and showed up battery and hand brake warning signals on the dashboard. i immediately took it to the master mechanic leaside location to get it checked. the manager their advised me to go to east york location. as i was pulling off my car from leaside location, smoke started coming out of the car's engine. i ran out and the manager rushed towards the car. we opened the bonnet to see that the alternator was on fire!!! the manager ran in to get fire extinguisher and blew off the fire. i thank craig and his colleague at leaside for saving my life and my car! if it would have happened a bit before or after it actually happened - i would have had no choice other than to see my car completely burnt or probably die in that accident!!!! all this happened today 10th december 2015. my car is lying at leaside location. i request you to look into the matter urgently and take strict action against glen - the manager at your east york location. i am also looking into taking a legal action, file a complaint with the consumer protection branch, better business bureau and court under the consumer protection act against master mechanic east york location for risking my life by providing extremely poor service. i humbly request you again to look into this matter urgently and take strict actions towards it. read more
