He was super responsive, kept me up to date on his ETA, and was an overall professional. Luckily, the GLK was still on the old system/software (since 2015 is when MB changed it's system, making the later 2015-and-beyond MBs only serviceable by the stealership). With missing keys, I considered calling AAA however I wasn't sure they'd be able to move it with the steering wheel locked. So, naturally I turned to Yelp and contacted a few locksmiths. This was late at night, so other locksmiths were either closed or charged an extra fee for coming out past normal business hours. There are two types of people when it comes to car remote fob replacement and programming: some go to the car dealers where they bought their cars and get taken again; then there are others who can afford the cost but taking it as a challenge and trying to do it themselves, no matter how much time they spend. I belong to the later group: I lost my spare key fob to my 2004 Chevy Colorado truck two weeks ago. After researching for hours and hours online and visiting all the related chat rooms, I bought a generic key fob and was ready to program it myself. I tried and tried without any success. It turned out many sites I visited were not accurate; there were a lot of confusion and wrong assumptions. For example, the 2004 Chevy Silverado is DYI programmable but the very similar but slightly smaller Chevy 2004 Colorado I have requires a scanning tool. That is GM for you. One division did not want to another, typical NIH (Not Invented Here.) I finally gave up and contacted a number of local auto smiths and visiting the Craigslist. Late last night I started contacting local independent auto smiths thru the Yelp's email system. Michael G of Master Lock & Key, was the first to respond. He patiently and repeatedly answering my questions thru the email exchanges. He then called me to offer one of his tech to come over to my house right away since he was out of town. Ryan showed up promptly, scanned my car and reprogrammed my remote fob in less than 5 min! The cost? less than any quotes I got, even lower than one auto smith operating from a kiosk that I planned to take my truck to the next day.
