My dear friend who first introduced me to Master Joe's Sushi.
Anna-Leigh L.

Best Sushi Ever! There's not a lot of things I take seriously, but I take sushi seriously. Being from Malibu and a world traveler, I never thought I would have some of the BEST sushi of my life in a small Alabama town!!! Imagine the shock when the delectable fresh concoctions were entering my mouth one after the next! Ohhhh and later someone got me to try the sautéed pork dumplings in the best gyoza sauce known to man. Now I'm celiac so when I say these are to die for, I mean literally . Master Joe trained in Tokyo, Japan for something like 9 years to become a master sushi chef. Lucky for us he settled in Fairhope, Alabama to rear his family and open his phenomenal restaurant.

We ate here so many time when we lived in Daphne, but that was years ago. We decided to drive over for date night because they have amazing sushi and drinks. Usually, there is a long wait because it's a small place, but worth the wait for sure. However tonight, we got lucky and were immediately seated at the sushi bar. Husband got the seasonal mule (blueberry) and I got the Raspberry Collins, which is ahhhhmazing. We watched them make our sushi, and everyone else's, thanks to the great seats we got. It's so cool to watch them create the rolls. They look so much better in person than the photos show, but the important part is the taste. You won't get any better than Master Joes. I got the Russian Revolution with no jalapeños and we shared a sushi pizza. (Seriously, TRY IT.) service was excellent and the vibe is always so nice. I love the octopus murals on the wall.

The food was absolutely delicious and all tasted super fresh! My husband got the sushi sashimi combo and I got the California roll and the Tempura shrimp roll. The service was EXTREMELY fast and the staff were all very friendly and helpful! The restaurant itself is very cute and has such cozy ambiance and in a great location to catch lunch while shopping!!

It was late when we showed up so we were seated quickly. We loved the look and decor. We ordered the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and rainbow roll. All three were delicious. Highly recommend.

First visit here and it's a cozy and hip little joint. I started with a Kyuri salad and it was excellent. Next I had a Futomaki roll (7.95) and a Titantic roll (14.95). The Futomaki was the essence of freshness and was both savory & sweet. The Titanic roll was a bit more elaborate and had some tempura shrimp. The side of ginger was amazing! Thumbs up on both rolls!

Salmon avocado and rock n' roll

A very small spot that picks a big flavor punch. They have a wide variety of rolls that are fresh and tasty. I ordered a salmon and avocado roll as well as the rock n roll which has eel. Both were delicious. The spot fills up fast, so go early! Definitely recommend when you're craving sushi.

Awesome sushi spot. You really can't go wrong with any of the rolls. Quick service and intimate seating.

Master Joes is the best sushi in lower AL. The food is always incredible and the service is great. I always like to start off with the Cali Sushi Nuggets and Miso Soup. They have so many delicious sushi rolls to choose from. Some of my favorites are the Bingo Bango, Black Pearl, Bay Roll, Yummy Roll and Baylee Roll. If you aren't feeling sushi, the teppanyaki is delicious and their yum yum sauce is the absolute best!

We were seated quickly and had the best dinner! Our sushi was amazing and service was great. We will definitely be back to try more sushi! We left very full and happy.

The tables are way too close together, so don't go unless you feel like eating in a cafeteria full of strangers.

Best thing: The boutique location in downtown Fairhope (it serves its purpose as a quick Asian spot…read moreif you just need something nearby). Type of Food: Asian Fusion / Pan-Asian (featuring a mix of Japanese sushi, Hibachi, Chinese classics, Thai noodle dishes, and Vietnamese Pho). Wok by d'Bay | Local Chinese Foods Review: Wok By D'Bay is located in a nice boutique area on Fairhope Ave, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. I placed a takeout order, and it quickly became obvious that takeout customers are not a priority here. The staff focused heavily on seating and serving the people walking in for tables instead. To make matters worse, there was almost zero communication about the status of my order, and my food sat completed behind the counter for quite a while before anyone finally handed it to me (didn't know at the time). When I finally got the food, it was just okay--nothing special--and the high prices felt completely unjustified given how small the portions were. It might pass if you just happen to be in the immediate area and need a quick fix, but the lack of service standards means you are better off looking elsewhere. Cons: The service is incredibly slow for takeout, communication is poor, and your food may sit forgotten on the counter while dine-in tables are prioritized. Additionally, the prices are high for the small portion sizes you receive. Thumbs up / Thumbs down: Thumbs down (I would look for good food elsewhere).

From my reconnaissance results, everything was wonderful at this restaurant. The hostess greeted me immediately and gave me a tour of the restaurant when I told her that I was surveying and comparing different Japanese restaurants in the area. She asked questions about my event and what I wanted in the experience. The restaurant was bright and clean, which I absolutely loved. Other places were way too dark for my preference. We toured the bar area, the sushi area, and the hibachi area. Everything was clean, organized and inviting. The hostess was very friendly, informative and helpful. She asked about the times that I might come and even suggested the best times for particular days. I felt so comfortable that I wanted to end the tour and order something to eat on this mission, but I decided against it until I found out that they serve dim sum. Since these delicacies are generally not available where I live, I decided to try a few of my favorites. While the taste of the shrimp & pork dumplings was underwhelming, the sesame balls were perfect. I am excited to bring my family here for the hibachi experience and I will update this review afterward. Update after the hibachi experience. When the five of us arrived on a Friday at 5:30 PM, we were greeted immediately. My tour guide from the previous day, remembered me and told the hostess to seat us at a special table. Then the usual process of hibachi started. Our cook was very interactive, funny and entertaining. He prepared our food wonderfully, seasoned it well and entertained us expertly. My cousin, whom had never experienced a hibachi dinner/entertainment prior to this, thoroughly enjoyed her dinner and raved about coming back sometime soon. We all had such a wonderful experience that we will return.

Shiso's got personality -- the sushi here is fun, creative, and full of surprises. You can tell…read morethey actually enjoy what they're doing in the kitchen, which makes it easy to enjoy what's coming out of it. The fish was fresh and flavorful, and the rolls had that nice mix of texture and flair that keeps you guessing in a good way. Now, about the dim sum: the ribs with black beans turned into a bit of a bone buffet (great if you're part-time paleontologist, less great if you're hungry). The pan-fried gyoza seemed to have skipped the "fried" part of its job description -- more soft than sizzle. But the sushi? Solid win. It's the reason you come here, and the reason you'll come back. Shiso is the kind of spot that makes Mobile feel like it's playing in the big leagues of sushi creativity -- just maybe let someone else take the dim sum experiment for the team.

Every time I entered the top floor, I was greeted with a host & one of the two managers with a warm welcome. The whole staff was professionally dressed & had an engaging manner which creates a relaxed & comfortable environment. Sat in a booth at the bar both times. What I truly enjoyed from the bartender was the history of the restaurant & the complex development of each cuisine presented. During each visit, the second manager will spend a minute with you to ask how your evening has been, how tasteful the food is & what else they can do to help make our night more pleasant. 1) Drinks were fantastic on every occasion 2) Dry-aged steak / scallops / sample dessert was outstanding 3) Atmosphere topped it off as it was all under control Bottom line, this is a well ran old school establishment with a new aged culinary art design for the customer.

The food is perfect, the beef is the best, the service (see above) is unbeaten. Jesse's is really in the top tier of restaurants in the country in my opinion.
