This is the best sushi restaurant in the Pioneer Valley. Incredible fish, incredible Ramen, generous portions, reasonable prices, great service... This is a real gem. Only downside: the ambience is not fantastic, but it's fine. read more

Finally great sushi in so sadly South Hadley! Ordered 7 dishes and a mixed sushi platter to take to a customers office and every item was outstanding. Beautiful sushi, spicy udon, Galbi and crazy good Kim Chee pancake. These aren't Pu Pu platter guys attempting sushi these guys know their craft. read more

Went here on Friday night and had a delightful experience!! Walked in, didn't have to wait, and sat right at the bar! The decor was very nice, almost felt like home. My friend and I ordered a few things to share, and everything was delicious! The staff was super friendly, and on top of their game! I will definitely be returning as soon as possible and also recommending this place to everyone I know! read more

Best Sushi in the Valley and beyond, it is worth the drive. Freshest fish, great variety plenty of Gluten Free options, plenty of parking in the back. Chef Louis and his staff are the best, always kind and helpful. Try anything in the menu and you won't be disappointed, ever! read more

I've had sushi in japan, san fran, and every great seaport that serves up the best. This place will not dissapoint... very fresh, very proper. The best I have had in New England hands down. read more

BEST ramen place I've ever been to! They customize it according to exactly how you like it. Their sushi is also very delicious! I drive a half an hour just for their ramen because it's the best ramen I've ever had!! read more

My favorite place to grab some sushi or hibachi. I always look forward to coming here to eat.

Love itttttttt. Everything is fresh always friendly service. Great bar area while waiting for take out, attentive service while dining in.

I had forgotten how amazing sushi could be! The food at Master Chef is AMAZING! Friendly staff, delicious gyoza, I really can't say enough how much you will love this place! read more

Zero complaints! The food was incredible, sushi and sashimi so fresh, yaki soba noodles yummy, server very attentive. Warning: when they say spicy they mean it! Will return! read more

Disappointed ! Had heard great things, but reality was: atmosphere, service and food taste/quality were all sub-par. Ordered take out In person and waited and was not offered a beverage/water while I waited at the bar. Portions were small for the price and frankly nothing was very tasty. read more

Incredible food and service!! I am visiting home from Florida and it's always nice to receive exceptional service. It brings me back to my small town roots where everyone is welcoming. Thank you. read more

Delicious food and great service, the wait staff is very attentive and responsive to your needs, and for the quality of the food, the price is excellent. read more

Fantastic. Two visits so far -- we've been working through the noodle soups and sushi menu. Everything has been great: perfectly cooked udon, fantastic ramen, fresh tuna and salmon, and (get this) the owner remembered us from our first visit like a month ago. Great stuff. read more

I love everything I had there so far, never disappoints! The hibachi is amazing, sushi is so fresh and the soups are incredible as well. BYOB is a plus too! read more

If you are familiar with the Sushi scene in western mass (including the Berkshires) , you know there are only a handful of places which can deliver high quality sushi experiences in the 413. The folks who own this restaurant are committed to being the best, and there Sushi definitely reflects it. Although it might be a BYOB sushi bar, add it to your list to gain experience on what good sushi should taste like. read more

My husband and I just ate dinner here and we ordered Beef Gyoza, Ika Sansai, Chicken Yaki Soba. Spicy Pork and Mochi Green & Mochi Red Bean ice cream. Everything was DELICIOUS! We ordered a lot of food to try as much as we could and wound up taking quite a bit home. Anyway, we look forward to returning and are excited that another excellent restaurant has opened in South Hadley! read more

BYOB, Richardson's ice cream, and super fresh sushi from Boston... it doesn't get much better than this. My husband and stumbled across Master Chef a few years ago on a road trip. Now we make it a point to stop on our way to and from the Berkshires a few times year. Can't wait till our next visit! read more

A compelling discovery! Very fresh delicious ingredients, and you can watch your meal constructed with your own eyes. I'm fascinated by the sushi prep, and I'm glad that there isn't a sushi channel!:-) Korean menu selections are also available. Master Chef is not cavernous and is best suited for groups of 2 to 4. Fun clean modern vibe with friendly clientele. We shared dumplings, veggie rolls, and hibachi grill meals which include salad. You should note that the establishment doesn't serve alcohol due to the lack of municipal licenses available. But there's a workaround. Venture down to your wine cellar, make your selection and bring it with you. They'll even open your bottle, and have proper glassware ready. You'll enjoy your beverage, a delicious meal, but no added vino sticker shock! You're welcome to bring other adult beverages as well. I think I'll venture into tuna territory next visit... read more

Perhaps the more fish-centric dishes are better. I had the vegetable tempura and the habachi noodles (which looked and tasted suspiciously like spaghetti) both of which were greasy. I also had the roll combo, again greasy tempura and they didn't peel the cucumbers which made them much crunchier than usual and was a bit distracting. The spicy tuna was definitely spicy, but I don't have a high tolerance for spice. The only beverages they had were coke products and water. Staff and pretty good. read more

Large sushi selection at Master chef. The appearance outside is iffy but once you are seated it improves and you can bring your own wine or beer!!! read more

Extremely good sushi! I come home to visit family and always make it a point to visit Master Chef. Have never been disappointed. Always on point with friendly staff. Definitely try this place out! read more

The bulgogi taco appetizer was amazing! Full of flavor and filling. It alone could've been lunch and I would've been full and satisfied. Highly recommend getting this if your go here! Great job and quality service to boot. read more

I dined in once and ordered take out another time, I'm not a sushi fan, so the Bulgogi tacos were highly recommended, and were amazing both times, even though I really enjoyed my meal, I take away the 2 stars for poorly put together sushi rolls I seen served to my friends, I'm a food photographer and I've shot other well none local sushi (Japanese) restaurants and could definitely see how the rolls were falling apart and poorly executed. read more

Just came here for the first time and was amazed by the service and food. Our server treated us so well and answered every question knowledgeably and courteously. The miso soup was delicious and both my husband and myself are not miso soup fans and we really loved it. The food is fresh and delicious! Everything we ate we loved! Highly recommend read more

First, I've lived in Japan, so this sushi is on point! Also, my hubby, who doesn't like sushi, loves the rolls here! The Boston roll is the best! Quaint little place and great service as well. read more

I have visited twice now and both times the food was amazing. The sushi, ramen, and bimbimbap were all great choices. The Spicy ramen is addicting and I would go back just for that! The sushi was incredibly fresh both times we visited, I would have to say it's in my top 3 fav sushi restaurants in the area. The service was fantastic, although busy both times the server was very attentive and so sweet. I highly recommend trying Master Chef and can't wait to go back! read more

Delicious food and beautiful presentations. The chefs make many of the sushi dishes right in front of you, it's obvious they put a lot of care into what they do. read more

This Restaurant is a hidden Gem. I was not only thoroughly impressed the first , but the second time. The presentation of the food is the best I've seen and management makes the setting feel like home. read more

I really like this place. We sat at the bar for sushi. It's a casual, yet nice place that was once a home that has been converted to a restaurant. It has a really cozy atmosphere and the staff is very kind and friendly. We went a little after lunch time, and it was quiet. My meal was served hot and it was very tasty! The sushi menu is large and the sushi is very fresh. This will end up being one of our favorite sushi spots in the area. Definitely a place we'll revisit soon! read more

I go here frequently. It's a small restaurants, but the food is really good. I only have two issues with this place. If you come here on a busy night, you might be waiting an hour (even if you're first in line.) The second issue is the dining area, it could be spruced up a bit and redone, it's very basic and there little heat during the cold months (I believe the dining area must have been an enclosed porch at one point.) I would suggest eating at the bar. The staff is very friendly and the food is wonderful. read more

Awkward set up. Especially if you get the lucky table next to the ramp; which I did. Having people's backs and dangling arms inches from your face when they are waiting for a table and you're trying to sit down and have your meal. Sat at a completely empty table, had to ask for napkins. Took forever to actually get the food. Got sushi, and it wasn't bad. But it was average and comparable to a handful of other places that have a better setting. read more

Freshest, best tasting sushi in the Valley. I've eaten at Tsukiji market and can say Masterchef is the real deal. The owners drive to Boston to buy fish a couple times a week. It's fun to try different items (although I thought the ramen was a little salty) but you can't go wrong with any of the sushi menu. read more

Absolutely a fantastic place for good sushi! Might be a little pricey but it's worth the price!!! I have tried their bulgogi and teriyaki chicken and both were amazing! I'm definitely going back for more...like right now read more

ABSOLUTELY THE FRESHEST SUSHI AROUND!! Always amazing service and great experience!! If you are a sushi lover this is the place to go... I know you will not be let down!! read more

We had the most amazing sushi of our life. It was so fresh and high quality. We took out but the restaurant was bright and finely done and i am looking forward to eating there. They were very helpful explaining all our questions and the chefs friendly while making our order in front of us. We had a spicy tuna roll(to die for), eel and avacado roll and a yellow tail and scallions roll. We also had two wonderful noodles dishes.Yaki Soba with beef and a Spicy Seafood Ramen which is addicting. If you are a sushi lover don't miss this place and if you want to try sushi this is the place to start. Our problem (or not really a problem) is it's too close to home. read more

not native Japanese or Korean food at all. Using American salad for Japanese vegetable. Sauce is bad. Totally fake Japanese food.
