We've now been to Masseria twice in one week, and that alone should say a lot! Our first visit was during Restaurant Week, where they offered a pre-fixe menu. It was our first time there, and honestly, we went in a little skeptical after seeing some mixed reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised and ended up loving it so much that we came back the very next week with friends. The ambiance is super stylish and cute. The layout is really nice, with a few separate dining areas past the bar that make it feel a bit more intimate. We sat in the section with a view of the kitchen both times, which added to the experience. Food-wise, everything we tried was great. The meatballs and the cozze (mussels) appetizer were both delicious and definitely worth ordering. During Restaurant Week, we had steak, which was solid, but the real standout for us was the pasta. The pappardelle bolognese is spectacular and something we'd absolutely go back for again and again. We had seen reviews mentioning poor service, but that wasn't our experience at all. Both visits, the service was attentive and smooth with no issues. We were too full for dessert both times (a good problem to have!), but we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. I had an atrocious experience at Masseria, an Italian steakhouse that completely failed to deliver even basic service. It was a disaster. Our waiter came over, didn't introduce himself, barely acknowledged us, and only asked what kind of water we wanted. Then he disappeared. No water arrived for 35-40 minutes. I eventually had to make eye contact and literally wave him over just to get any attention. It took over 40 minutes just to get drinks, over an hour to receive appetizers, and almost TWO HOURS for our dinner to arrive. All because our waiter couldn't be bothered to check on our table--or care at all about our experience. What makes this even worse is that I was there to celebrate my birthday. By the end of the night, I didn't even want the little birthday ice cream they're "supposed" to give you. I just wanted to leave and go home. They were clearly not understaffed. Every table around us was served promptly, and I even noticed one table in the middle of the room being attended by three different waiters. It's hard not to wonder why some guests get five-star treatment while others are treated like an inconvenience. This was beyond disappointing--it was unacceptable. I will NEVER be back. Had the Masseria Burger which is brisket, short rib, dry-aged chuck blend, guanciale, fontina, oven-roasted tomato, arugula pesto, house fries. I added Sautéed Onions and Mushrooms (free..ha). It was overcooked and not very big but messy. I dunno about your but if I am spending $20-30 for a burger, that badboy better come out perfect. Ok I definitely wrestled with how this review was going to go. I actually waited a few days before I composed this to give myself tine to reflect on our experience. For those who are not familiar with this restaurant, it's a high-end Italian steakhouse that recently opened in morristown. The interior is beautiful and sophisticated. Now if you are going to present yourself as an upper tier steakhouse there is an expectation of above average service and food quality. With that being said let me get into it. Myself and my wife walked in and was greeted by a friendly hostess. We opted to sit at the bar and there were two barstools that were vacant at the end. Next to where I was sitting, there was several used dishes and napkins that had yet not been cleared by the bartender which is a little off putting. Bartender came over within a minute or two with a cocktail menu and took our drink order. I ordered the espresso martini and several moments later the bartender brought it over. This is when it got a bit strange. The bartender also brought over with her a small cup of beans. I understand that an espresso martini is to have beans placed on top as a garnish. The bartender picked up the beans with her bare hands and placed them in my drink. I find this a bit gross as she's handling menus and money. The next issue I had was I ordered chicken Parmesan with a side of rigatoni. I'm not sure who messed up the bartender or the kitchen but I got spaghetti not rigatoni. I know this is a minor hiccup but I was more upset by the way it was handled. The bartender offered to put an order of rigatoni in but by that time I would have finished my meal. At the end of the dinner the bartender came over and told me she took the spaghetti off the bill after talking to her manager. Except for tasting it I never ate the pasta so that should go without saying. I mean she wasn't doing me a favor. Lastly the manager was aware there was a problem with my meal and didn't come over to speak to me about it, overall disappointed in the service. Food was tasty. Drinks were just ok. read more

We had a 7pm reservation on a Friday night and were seated promptly upon arrival. The restaurant was not overly crowded and we were seated in one of the side rooms, not the main dining hall. It was nice but felt a little dark compared to the main room. After placing our drink orders a waiter came over with a basket of fresh bread with a few options. My husband asked for two pieces which the waiter seemed a little hesitant about but did comply. For an appetizer we got the grilled octopus (not pictured) which was tasty but a very small portion. For our main course, I ordered the Vitello Valdostana and it was truly to die for. The Marsala sauce had great flavor and the veal was tender. My husband ordered the dry aged bone in strip steak and he said it was cooked to his liking but there was no real wow factor to it. He also got a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. I also tried both, the mashed potatoes were okay but had a heavy olive oil flavor which I wasn't expecting. And to put nicely, the sautéed spinach was just not good at all. Not sure if they just forgot to season it but it was super bland and pretty much inedible. We each took one bite and didn't touch it again. For birthdays they do bring out a small bowl of icecream which was a nice touch. Overall the experience fell very middle of the road for us. For the price, I won't be running back here anytime soon but would definitely consider it for another celebration and to try some other dishes. read more

Ordered a bottle of Napa Valley Caymus, listed for 120 dollars. Bartender brought California Caymus (not Napa Valley). I told her that wasn't the right bottle, she came back with a 2023 Napa Caymus which is what is listed on their wine list. The bill came and they charged me 170 dollars. I asked for the manager and he said it was a misprint. A misprint they've probably known about for a while as Caymus is a popular wine. And a complete creep about it. I paid it, would never recommend this place to anyone. Honor your menu or change it, and get a new manager. read more

Very surprised to see low ratings for this place. I had a great experience! My husband and I had a pre-Valentine's day dinner on the 13th. Table was ready when we got there and we had a nice cozy spot that wasn't sitting on top of someone else. Chairs are comfortable and have a nice back to them and fabric on them. My glass of Sauvignon Blanc was nice. There was a man going around with a tempting basket of bread. He came over and gave us each 1 piece. Now- while he did indeed come back around (the waiter asked us if we wanted him to come back), I would say it would be better if they can let you choose 2 pieces from the start. Getting 1 piece of bread from a massive bread basket feels chintzy. Don't make an expensive Italian steakhouse chintzy, come on now. Anyway, I had the waygu ribeye steak which was deliciousssss. Melt in your mouth. Cooked to medium rare perfection. The crust on it was superior. Every bite was perfect. My husband got the pappardelle bolognese. I tried some of it and it was also excellent! Had an umami flavor to it that made it super flavorful. I don't think it has mushrooms, but it was mushroom-umami-like. I had an after dinner Campari and my husband did a cappuccino. Both very nice. Our waiter was great and the right amount of attentiveness. The front hostess area can do a bit better with the hospitality. A lot of "big suit" people walking around that could have offered a greeting to the people waiting. I know that's being picky, but my reviews are pickier the higher the price tag. The veal was tough and chewy--definitely overcooked--which is surprising given that this is a steakhouse. The chicken parm was just okay, nothing special. The pasta and salad were good, but for $19, the salad portion was too small to be considered a main dish. The service was a major downside. Our server took forever to take our orders and then rushed us to leave once we finished eating. We even saw him chatting with another waitress, saying he wanted us to go. While I understand wanting to turn tables, at that point, we hadn't even finished our drinks. He cleared the table before we were done with dessert, immediately brought the check, and rudely tossed two pens onto the table--no exaggeration. He didn't even ask if we wanted tea or coffee, and as soon as we paid, he rushed to collect the signed receipts. I was shocked to see anything short of 5 stars on here. I popped in for lunch and received nothing but amazing service. The hostess kindly checked with the kitchen for me regarding gluten free items and then seated me in my preferred outdoor seat. I ordered the Branzino and it was one of the best versions of the dish I have ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly, skin included, and even expertly deboned. The accoutrements were tasty as well, with pitted olives, cooked tomatoes and fingerling potatoes. The fish itself was filling and quite a large portion and definitely the star of the dish. There was just a sprinkling of the other items. Overall, so much flavor and seasoning. I could barely finish it and ended up taking the rest home. My server was incredibly professional, checked in often, and even apologized since the fish was taking a bit of time. Came here yesterday to celebrate my son's birthday, but unfortunately, we left a bit disappointed. The food was tasty, but the service had some issues. My son's fries were cold -- we sent them back, and they came out again very quickly, extra crispy, almost like they had just been refried rather than replaced. My shrimp dish came with broccoli rabe, which I didn't receive until after I had already finished eating. The general manager did apologize and sent out another order, but by then it was too late to enjoy it. I don't know where to begin, to say I'm disappointed is putting it mildly. I'd like to start with the few positives. The servers are professional and pleasant and the rooms are pretty. The room we were seated in with a view of the kitchen was so noisy we couldn't hear each other. Server had a hard time telling us the specials she was leaning in and yelling. I don't know if I'm the only one that doesn't like these new "thimble" cocktail glasses. Yes, my autumn cocktail was served in one. Please give me a coup or a martini glass. I even asked for my second to be served in one, but no it came in the thimble. I had also asked for a cozy corner table. Both requested ignored. Ok let's get to the food. The only good dish was the pasta bolognese which we split. It was excellent. This place calls it self a steakhouse in its name. So my husband ordered a 16oz ribeye it was so thin and no way 16oz and just ok. . I ordered a surf and turf special, 5oz filet medium and 2 shrimp. Had to send it back. I have never sent a dish back. It was so overcooked. Maybe if it had some thickness it could be cooked correctly. Second comes out raw. I just ate the few vegetables served with it. It looked terrible and tasted worse. I honestly could get a better steak at the diner. Mushroom side dish was very good. My husband ordered tiramisu which was flavorless and I the zabaglione which was not remotely zabaglione. It was like a pudding or something. Terrible! I don't even want to tell you the bill for 2 people - ridiculous! If you call yourself a steakhouse the least you can do is make a good steak. had a dinner party of 9 people on March 21, for my daughter's 28th birthday. First, we had a great table in the center of the restaurant and the staff was friendly, but they are not well trained and this falls back on Management no one else but the Management.. Let me start with the wine service, and as we all know, you pay a premium for a bottle of wine at a restaurant, and you know that going in, when I ordered our second bottle of wine, the server opened the bottle and just placed it on the table. I had to ask for a fresh glass to taste the second bottle. And I had to ask for a decanter it was never offered. Don't charge three times the bottle price if you can't serve wine the proper way. We should've also been offered the chance of fresh glasses for the fresh bottle. Never mind everyone expects a 22 to 25% tip on those two bottles of wine, so pouring wine into my own glass should not have ever happened. Let's move onto the food; my daughter ordered a 4 ounce fillet cooked, medium and when it came out and it was cut, it was rare almost raw on the inside and instead of making a new fillet, the kitchen proceeded to cook the small pieces that cit beyond medium. you would think that someone would be embarrassed that an Italian steakhouse cannot cook a fillet the right temperature . I had the clams with the linguine which was very good but I never had the chance to get a shell dish so as I was eating my meal. I had to keep moving the shells around my bowl. I don't understand how the staff does not know what to bring with each dish. My daughter has a dairy allergy and every time we were trying to order something the server had to go back to the kitchen and check , instead of someone coming out of the kitchen and maybe taking two minutes and discussing our options. The server was not prepared for the desserts because we never got the chance to order desserts because the service was so slow and we never got an answer as to what dessert was dairy free for my daughter. So as a Resturant, they lost out on nine desserts after dinner drinks coffee, and tea. Came here for New Years Eve and had a very bad experience. Ordered the Branzino crudo and asked if the dish can be made without pistachios (was one of the ingredients listed), and let the server know I have an extremely severe peanut and pistachio allergy. He assured us that this can definitely be made without nuts. Once the dish came out, I trusted that it was made correctly and that my severe allergy was taken seriously, so I took a bite at the same time as my husband. My husband quickly jumped up and yelled for me to spit it out because they failed to withhold the pistachios. Thank God he told me to do that because I could have spent my NYE in the emergency room because of my anaphylactic allergy to nuts. So scary that a restaurant, especially a new restaurant, can be so careless. The restaurant wasn't even crowded yet, as this was a 5:00 seating. Other than this almost deathly error, the food was decent. The Pappardelle Bolognese was tasty and filet was very bland. There are other much better options in the area for this type of cuisine. I'm very critical of this drink since I bartended for a long time and since this is my go-to drink. It did not disappoint! We once again ordered the Branzino crudo WITHOUT pistachios and the dish came out perfectly. It was delicious. We also got the Polpette (meatballs) which were pretty tasty. For my next dish, I ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese for my main course which, just like I had my mentioned in my first review, was delicious and absolutely recommended. A Place with Promise, but Not Quite There Yet Walking into this restaurant, you can't help but feel optimistic. The ambiance is spot on--warm lighting, polished finishes, and a vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. It looks like the kind of place that could become a go-to for special nights out. But looks can be deceiving, and unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the setting. We started with the calamari, and it was perfectly done. Next up was the beef carpaccio, which arrived looking lovely but was shockingly small for the price. It's hard to savor something when you feel like you've been shortchanged. The main courses were all over the map. My steak? Delicious. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned just right. But my friend's steak? A total disaster--massively overcooked to the point where it should've been sent back. The one bright spot was the pork chop, which was so perfectly cooked it made us wonder why that level of care didn't extend to every plate. Then there was the service. Painfully slow. We're not talking "giving you time to enjoy the evening" slow--we're talking "has the server forgotten about us?" slow. It's the kind of thing that overshadows even the best parts of a meal, leaving you with more frustration than satisfaction. To be clear, the place isn't a total miss. The setting is lovely, and I could absolutely see myself coming back here for a drink at the bar. But for dinner? Not yet. This is my second visit. The first visit about 3 months ago was underwhelming. Service wasn't great and the food was just average, especially in relation to the high prices. Returned only because someone gave me a gift certificate. This time, the service was much more attentive, but the food, unfortunately, hasn't improved. My wife and I both had an Arugula salad, which were small, unremarkable, and expensive. And though my wife was generally happy with her Pappardelle, my Wagu Skirt Steak lacked flavor and was somewhat chewy. I've had much better skirt steak without needing to douse it with sauce. Believe the bad reviews! I only write reviews if it's really good, or really bad... I booked a table for 14 for my husband's birthday. We were sat at 7:50 and didn't get focaccia until 9:30, which was stale and cut one guest's gums trying to chew it. The waiter went over EVERY item on the menu, at least four times going around the table- a total waste of time. After such detail taking orders, he forgot 3 apps. When the entrees finally came out, after 10pm for an 8pm reservation, one steak was overcooked, one burger was undercooked. My husband the Birthday boy ordered steak and got a burger! 1 of 3 Branzino entrees was served with no tomatoes, which was part of the dish. The Gambieri was served with two sprouts of broccoli rabbe on a side dish, not at all how it's supposed to be served. The waiter didn't take our dessert order until after 11, again we were sat at 7:50! The Birthday boy never got his cheesecake, the waiter denied him ordered it and brought gelato instead. Some drinks were too strong (jack and ginger and Moscow mule way too much lime). One of our Guests cut his hand on the bolt sticking out of the table - I told the water and nothing was done! With such a large party and delayed evening, we never saw a manager or were given an apology. One of mine and my husband's drinks were comped but that's it. What an embarrassment and waste of potential of a restaurant! All through our meal, there were crowds of staff bustling past my wife, stuck helplessly in the main flow of traffic. They really need to just take that table off the floor. Or server, Sophie, was pleasant but mostly absent, disappearing for long stretches. She also didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about the menu. My wife ordered the insalata di mare for an appetizer and the gnocchi for an entree. I ordered the polpo as a starter and the strozzapreti amatriciana as an entree. I also ordered a glass of white wine to go with the octopus and a glass of red to accompany my entree. The appetizers were good. My wife like the seafood salad, and the octopus was well prepared. The beans it came with were dry and needed salt, but overall the dish was good. I had asked for the red wine to come with my entree. The entrees were dropped off, but I had to ask multiple people for my wine, none of them our server Sophie, who was completely MIA. Eventually, somebody came to pour red wine into my white wine glass. I stopped them and told them I needed a clean glass, which seemed to totally confuse them, but they eventually complied. Finally I got to try my pasta, only to discover the pasta was overcooked, but the pancetta was undercooked. It was a remarkably unique failure. I sat there waiting for Sophie to come by and inquire about our meal, but it was in vain. Eventually, my wife flagged down a busboy to get them to take the dish away. Eventually, another waiter came over and I explained why the dish was inedible. At long last Sophie returned with the bill and noted that management had deemed my concern valid and taken the failed dish off the bill. These folks have not worked out the bugs yet. Food: we ordered oysters, the scallop special and the bolognese (from the pasta menu) as apps. all outstanding. 6 oz filet requested at medium temp came out rare and had to be sent back. 40 oz tomahawk came out cooked to temp (medium), was pre sliced into 4 slices with a good amount of fat. Disappointing for $165 to say the least. Broccoli rabe side came out with 4 small pieces. It was good. Ambiance: they've done a nice job with the inside. It's cozy and there are a few different dining rooms. Service: almost non existent. Aside from not coming to the table once we were seated, we were barely checked on during our meal. Overall: it's very pricey for what it is. The service staff needs work. The food is good, but there are better steakhouses around. I'd give it another shot but not for a little while. read more

Let me begin by stating that it takes a lot for me to spend the time and post a review. The experience had to have been either exceptional or very poor. The Masseria literally took me to the far edge of disappointment. The decorations are very nice, however the service is less than average, the food was terrible at best, and the only saviour was the desert which was probably brought in from an outside vendor. To top it all, a floor manager that came up and began making excuses for it all without even introducing himself. A pricey establishment in an affluent area. Matthew at the bar was great. In fact, the whole staff was fun and professional. The food was brought quickly and all of it was delicious. Most high end steak houses are a little stuffy. This place, although new to the scene, was light hearted, easy going and fun. read more

I want to leave a review for this restaurant as there are a lot of bad reviews, which almost caused me to cancel my reservation. We kept it and we were very pleased with the dinner. We had a Saturday 7:30 reservation. We were seated and attended to immediately. Our server, Nicki, was very attentive, responsive, and a pleasure. The food was fresh, hot, well prepared and served quickly. I have the pappardella bolognese, which was a very good and authentic recipe. My guested all enjoyed their meals tremendously, including the truffle ravioli, seafood risotto, and shrimp arribiatta. I would definitely recommend and will go back there again. read more

Food was good but over the top expensive. Thought that might be the case when the menu on line did not show prices. Certainly a special occasion restaurant. Service was very good and friendly and menu offered many different selections. But the room we were in was very noisy and it was hard to hear others at our own table. read more

High Expectations, low results. We came to Masseria this past Saturday night.Originally sitting at the bar, had a drink( A warm vodka martini, as if the glass were just pulled from a dishwasher. The bar staff were very nice and seemingly eager to get your drink order, however, as I said a disappointing result. We my friends who invited to join their table. We sat down at 7:30-ish. The waiter took our drink order, returned with our selection of wine, took our App and dinner orders. The circling bread person who carried a wooden box with what appeared to be the bread no one else wanted, we requested a fresh selection. The appetizers soon came, they were good. The appetizer plates were taken ( 8:15) or so. Then came the wait.... The HOUR LONG WAIT for a very disappointing service. My friends Pasta dish was clearly kept warm by a heat lamp, ( pasta was chewy) my husband's burger was not prepared the way he requested( clearly someone else's. And they brought me the wrong ( not even close) entrée, and took another 10 min to get mine and it arrived COLD. When the bill came, we were charged for the incorrect entree in addition to a bottle of wine we didn't receive. To make the experience worse, not one offer of apology, perhaps maybe when they brought the desert menus, they'd at least offer coffee or dessert....NOTHING.
