This place sucks. Worst service ever. People walked out. We moved to the bar after waiting for service forever. Lame.

I travel a lot for work, so I usually hit up Olive Garden. That way I know what I'm getting and the meals rarely have any differences. But when I'm at home, and want Italian food, going to Olive Garden is out of the question. This place is right around the corner, so we thought we might as well try it. Prices were fair, drinks weren't too pricey. I was very happy with my meal. I order Chicken Parmigana, my benchmark for determining a good Italian place. It was really good. I mean, I'm going back good. The staff was so friendly, I had to double check I was still in the right country. The whole experience was great. Oh, and I guess they do karaoke(sp) on certain nights, too. You won't see me there then, but it is an option for those reading. read more

Went here for dinner Saturday night. I had the fetuccini w broccoli and my boyfriend had the gamberi, bland is the word. I've made better cream sauce pasta at home. Not to mention the seafood mushroom appetizer thing we had was odd, little to no seafood and over cooked. I hate to give a place a bad review but there really was nothing good to say. Place was dirty, decor outdated and run down looking, food was bad the only good thing was staff was attentive and very nice. We paid our full bill and left a tip but will never go back I honestly don't know how people gave this more than one star. Must be people that worked there. Has to be! Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

We were so impressed with this place!! We walked in after a baseball tournament with 30 people! They didn't complain, they jumped in and took care of us!! Our waitress, Krystall was amazing!!! They all went above and beyond to take care of all of us. For such a short notice, we didn't wait long at all!! Not to mention the food was delicious!!! This place will always be on our list of favorite restaurants! And as a bonus, they played music just for our 9 year old baseball team!! Had a blast!! read more

We stopped in for my birthday and found all these reviews to be wrong. The service is better than higher end restaurants in the neighborhood. The food is fabulous! I had the cajun pasta and was surprised to find it very flavorful and not just spicy. My husband had the gamberi and was impressed with it as well. What a great little place. read more

The other reviews nailed it. The food is completely bland and overpriced . Entering the building is a little depressing. A terrible job trying to cover up the cases of beer that we can actually see through the window. I appreciate a staff that is in uniform so the fact that the staff was dressed in random 'under dressed' clothes was my first turn off. My food was so disappointing .. It seemed to have no effort given to have any flavor. Our server (who actually was dressed the best of the staff) was really nice and attentive ~ and to be honest was the only thing that saved the evening. Will never go back. I have been here multiple times and have honestly never had good service but this experience in particular was the final straw. I went there around 8 PM to meet some friends. It took forever to get a drink so I went to the bar. Later on, I asked our server for my tab. Waited 20 minutes. Still nothing. Go to find her and she's standing by the computer flirting with some guy. Asked her again. Then asked someone else for my tab. Server finally brought tab after another 20 minutes. Didn't apologize. I paid my tab and finally left after waiting 45 min. to get it. Then I find out she charged friends that were still there for my entire tab while she drunkenly (oh yeah did I mention she had also been drinking all night) told them I walked out on my tab. Looking for a place where you will get the most for your money? Well when it comes to their drinks you will!! If I wanted vodka straight up I would have ordered it! When asking for a side of soda to mix with it our waitress went on to say "I guess you have never been here before welcome to Massa's!" She just continued to piss me off the rest of the night! The food is pretty good. I will usually get their pizza, yummy! The crowd during the day is pretty tame but at night it gets loud and the drinks get stronger! Went there for St. Patricks Day. They were so busy and didn't have the staff to take care of the huge crowd. We got 3 free martinis before we even ordered. Yeah the drinks were nice, but I was hungry. Ended up gettin sick from all the free drinks. took 2 hours to get food. Tortalini tasted frozen & boiled. wasnt the best experiance but I will probably go back on a slow night to see whats its like. read more

I'd give zero stars if it were an option. We had heard good things about Massa's in general and this location was closest to us, so we decided to give it a try despite the 3-star rating. The 5 of us were seated promptly, one of the only tables in the dining area, and received out drinks after about 10 minutes- no big deal. We ordered two appetizers (fried artichokes and fried pickles), and when they came out tried to order food but the waitress needed to get her pen and paper- no big deal, but important later. We ordered two seafood pastas (Tutta Mare and Gamberi), the Parmesan crusted white fish, a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, three side salads (one with no cheese) and a side of linguine with meat sauce for our 2-year-old. Appetizers came out and were greasy but tasty. We didn't have silverware but were able to grab some from another table. When another server brought our food, he spilled the "sauce" from the Gamberi pasta all over the floor in front of my husband, and reacted with a disinterested "oops" . Both pastas looked okay at first glance but were swimming in watery sauces, and the Gamberi's sauce was greasy and gray in color. The Parmesan crusted fish looked and tasted okay, but the "linguine" served to my son contained some red sauce and melted cheese but NO noodles. The Philly Cheesesteak and salads were nowhere to be seen. About ten minutes later, our original server came back and apologized for forgetting to ring in the Philly Cheesesteak- understandable if she hadn't specifically gone to get a pen and paper, and written everything down. When we asked what the sauce/cheese combo was, she said she had no idea and didn't know why someone would bring that out. She went to ring in the remainder of the order and we told her to forget about the salads since the meal had already arrived. She promptly came back carrying the salads (all of which had cheese- again, she made a special trip for pen and paper and wrote everything down!) and a dish of pasta for my son. We refused two of the salads but my father (whose order still hadn't showed up) accepted his so he would have something to eat. She generously offered to take the two unaccepted salads off of the bill, and I requested a box for my untouched Gamberi. She retrieved one without asking if there was a problem with the food, then avoided our table like the plague until my father's food arrived, which meant no refills or requests for another 15 minutes. At this point, it was too laughable to even ask for a manager. We got another box as soon as possible, eager to end our evening. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and understand that things happen, but bad food and terrible service shouldn't both be an issue on a slow Saturday evening. I won't be wasting my time or money at any Massa's in the future, as this evening has left a bad taste in my mouth- both literally and figuratively. read more

Massa's O'Fallon is a breath of fresh air for the O'Fallon area. I moved here a year ago from the Valley in Chesterfield and I love the food. Pepe medallions, pizza (ask for mozzarella), the salads (house is good and Italian is good too). Can't name all the servers here. Denise is top shelf - but they're all good. Bartenders will all take good care of you - Steve, Kirk, Big Sexy, Jamie during the day. Andrew in the kitchen is a Bobby Flay in training. Tuesday nights are too crazy for me at Massa's but if you can handle "over the top" drink specials, then this is your place. read more

The decor, staffing and food needs some help. Inside is dark and very little lighting, some of the staff treats this place more like a sports bar NOT $19-$25 a head. My hubby ordered steak, when it came out it was covered in some kind of goop that smelled like dog food. I got what was suppose to be chicken and pasta but it was drenched in oil of some kind. The only good part of the meal was dessert. The waitress we had, Toni, was the only good thing about the overall impression. This meal was eaten over 2 years ago, Im new to YELP but it was so bad that I wanted everyone to know, stay clear of this place, unless they have changed. read more

I can only say that I was very disappointed in Massa's. I was a long, lifetime fan of the restaurant on Lindbergh and thought that since I was back in the St. Louis area again, that I would take my wife to the Massa's after church on a Saturday night. We were greeted by two fairly friendly hostesses and decided to eat at a table in the bar, as the restaurant side was really crowded. Our waitress was very friendly and I mentioned that I was once a longtime fan of Massa's and wanted to introduce my wife to what I thought would be an excellent lasagna. I ordered an Italian salad, it was excellent although for $6.99 it was on the small side. I also ordered a nine inch pepperoni pizza that was great. The problem was the lasagna. When it was delivered it looked as though it had already been chewed and spit out. The presentation was so bad. If one would have asked someone in the restaurant to identify what this plate was....I can with 100% certainty say that on one could. If this was a photo on the menu, I can guarantee that no one would have ever ordered it...presentation has to mean something and this was so bad, I only wish that I would have taken a photo of it. When asked if all was well, I told the gentleman that my wife and I had never seen lasagna like this. His comment...be careful it just came out of the oven. Are you kidding me? I can remember when an Italian restaurant would at least bring bread to the table.... I got one cracker size piece with my salad and my wife got a little more than that. Hers came with no butter and wasn't buttered and both were cool to the touch. Needless to say, another Italian restaurant was in the same plaza area in O'Fallon and I surely wish that for $30 plus a tip, that we would have eaten there. We are retired, and on a limited budget, so we try to go places that we really enjoy the food. Massa's in O'Fallon will be a non return restaurant for us. read more

Had lunch of onion soup and Italian salad.... both were quite tasty. It's a small restaurant and does not have a lot of seating except when there is patio seating. This place is a trainwreck. Servers look like a low end bar, food overcooked and place is very dirty. Patrons were coming in ignored while servers were talking. We had an appetizer which was suppose to be meatball sliders. 1/2 bland meatball on two slices of ordinary bread. Lol. Entrees were large and more than enough for 1 person. Was still eating when waitress asked if I were finished and before I could answer, she sent it to be boxed up, I wasn't close to enjoying my meal, or my partner. read more

So let me start by saying that I've been in the restaurant hospitality business for over 26 years and completely baffled how when I go out for a salad with chicken on it (Caesar, Santa Fe, etc...)for lunch or dinner, you spend $8-15 for it and the owners thinks it's ok that cold dry chicken is ok to serve on it. Correct me if I'm wrong here, I can spend $6-8 for a hamburger med well it's cooked fresh???? So I'm at my 3rd place tonight, first place didn't have salads, 2nd place salad had cold very dry chicken on a amazing tasty salad but told the bartender the chicken sucked and was not happy. To the bartenders credit he comped me my salad and beer, I tipped him $8 and left to find a meal. Very hunger know.... So I stop here, bartender is nice I ask for a Caesar salad, by the way is the chicken cooked fresh and not cold and dry? She lets me know I can get it fresh but theirs a up charge. One I was shocked second I told her my last experiences and my background. I agreed to the up charge,,,, quess what cold pre cooked chicken. For the cooks in the boh (back of the house) when you flat top sliced pre cooked chicken and try to pass it off as fresh.... Spices will show in the on the sides of the supposed cooked chicken, and by the way some parts are cold. Thanks for defrauding me one and two for putting the poor bartender in that situation cause she took the order. (By the way I had my salad in 5 mins, the chicken should have been raw. Owners be happy with a 3 because of your friendly bartender.... Pluses dressing was good and the romaine lettuce was fresh and crispy... ..... I'm not sure how re track some of my commits, the manager (Blake) was awesome about to correct the issue !!! He listen to someone that had a experience in the Industry and was willing to learn. My husband and I have been going here for years. This place and Bristol our two faves. Never had a bad meal and service has always been good. Only great when our server was either Toni or Amanda. It's been a while and I didn't see either of them this time so I'm not sure if they even work there anymore? What is going on with the 12 year old hostesses? We had the worst server ever. She was horrible. Don't know her name because she didn't introduce herself. I don't mean to be rude but she looked about 12 and she had buck teeth. She needs some serious urgent training or be pulled off the floor. Don't bring our waters and slap them on the edge of the table! Not good. Place them nicely in front of each customer. When we order an appetizer that means we would like to enjoy it before you bring our entrees because guess what? Besides having a crowded table now... The entrees sit there and get cold while we hurry up and eat our appetizer. We had to send our now cold entrees back to the kitchen to get warmed. Then... Don't keep trying to take empty dishes when we're not even half done. That makes the customer feel rushed and very uncomfortable. We were so annoyed by her lack of training. Then the icing lol the two little girls that were "hostesses" we're at the door when we left. One was holding the door open and talking to the other one who was sitting outside on the floor. She quickly stood up though when she saw us coming out. Not a "good bye" or "thank you" nothing! My husband grumbled under his breath as we walked to our vehicle "thank you for coming, hope you enjoyed your dinner, come back again soon". You know... The small things ? Very disappointed. Toasted ravioli's were on point, as were the wings with hot sauce, very good. Chicken piccata with the linguini was a little watery but the noodles themselves were bomb. Cheap drinks, good food and an enjoyable place to hang. read more

A friend recommended I go to Massa's, said the outdoor patio was really nice. A friend and I visited on a Wednesday evening. The entire dining room was dark and empty, everyone was either in the bar area or outside and loud rap music blasted from the speakers . We seated ourselves outdoors and waited for a server. I asked if this location was in anyway related to the Massa's that used to be in Kirkwood and I was told yes, it is the same family. The food and atmosphere is completely different! I ordered a pizza, my friend couldn't decide on the french dip or pizza; the server told her the pizza is much better than the sandwich so she ordered a hamburger and black olive pizza. We could hardly talk or hear each other because the rap music was so loud and at one point we considered leaving, but the patio seating was quite pretty and we had already ordered so we stayed. Our pizza arrive....it is seriously the worst pizza we've ever eaten. I know I've had tastier frozen pizza than this. It was hard and totally tasteless.....Massa's in Kirkwood never tasted this awful. My friend said the hamburger was gross so she picked it all off and still only managed to consume two slices. If the pizza is better than the french dip, I am slightly afraid to even think about what it may taste like! The music was too loud and we wanted to watch the game so we moved indoors....the bartender was kinda creepy because he just kept staring at us. At one point we heard him talk not so nicely to one of his servers, that is when we left. The servers were very friendly and very prompt and the patio is quite nice as it is spacious and backs to a lake. I could see us returning if it was for drinks only, I'd never order food again. They need to turn the music down a bit and play a better selection. Don't go here expecting the same quality that one would receive from the Kirkwood location. read more

Food was good. But they need to turn on the lights! Seriously way to dark. Really has opposite effect for ambiance. Customer's need to read the menu. Want to see my food. Also need to separate customers from the employee! Shirts, uniform, aprons? Something that shows employee vs customer. Had no idea who worked there, who is I n charge? Pretty sure these are basic tools to implement in a restaurant. Dark? Why or what are you hiding in the presentation of my food? Issue or compliment service? No clue to talk to.
