The only reason I did not give a rating of 5 stars is due to the environment and the other masseuse on duty that day. There was not a receptionist on staff when I went and things felt a bit rushed. The woman that was there, I don't know her name because she never introduced herself, kept coming out of her therapy room to answer phones and deal with the every day running of things. While this did not directly impact my experience, it did speak to the experiences other's have spoken of on here. My masseuse was very kind and gave a wonderful massage. He was still polite and very accommodating even with the woman's insistent nagging about another client waiting for him, which in turn made me feel like she was rushing me to get out. Maybe allowing a 10-15 minute window so that no one feels like they were made to wait or rushed out, would be great. This also allows the therapist a moment to breath and ready their space for the next client. The massage was wonderful and I will definitely be going back. This is NOT a professional environment by any means. The entire experience felt incredibly sketchy and I was profoundly uncomfortable . The massage was sporadic and painful (in the bad, I think you're giving me rug burn, kind of way). In addition, the masseuse made small talk by commenting on the problems she has with certain racial groups spending time near her space. I purchased a Groupon for a one hour massage. I cannot remember the lady's name but she did a great job. I felt relaxed and great afterwards. The place is clean and the employees were all very nice. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is due to the size of the business and the amount of busy noise in the background. The rooms are just outside the waiting area and front counter so you can hear all of the conversations going on as well as a phone constantly ringing which can be distracting when you are trying to relax. I recommend turning up the soothing music or get fans in the rooms to help this out. Otherwise, great establishment. I will return. read more

I saw a Groupon for this place and thought I would give it a try. After trying to squeeze in a time slot, waiting almost two months, I was looking forward to the massage. It is a small space, but I thought it seemed fine. They had me fill out a questionnaire and did not really ask me any questions, but still seemed fine. The massage was generally good, and I felt much better the next day. The issue I had with this place that during the massage the man giving me a massage was trying to make small talk, which I found a little strange.. but I tried to brush it off. By the end of the massage he ASKED ME ON A DATE! AND ASKED FOR MY PHONE NUMBER! This is extremely inappropriate, I felt so uncomfortable and will never come here again. Business was kind of a mess. I arrived with my bf for an afternoon massage and the place is so small we had to wait in the lobby outside the office. The business itself shares a lobby with a lawyer's office, so it's a very weird layout. Went in and filled out paperwork, then went to separate rooms for the massage. The low down: Both massages actually started late-my masseuse ran out to lunch and didn't get back on time. My bf's masseuse worked the front desk and complained about how the employees are always late and how she had to answer phones because they didn't have a secretary. My massage was meh. I really wanted a lot of pressure and a lot of work on my back. Masseuse breezed over it with very light pressure. She also still had her drink let from lunch and took frequent stops during the massage to take a swig-I know because I heard the ice swish around in the cup. My bf's massage was almost laughable. She refused to use oil, because she thought it was too slippery and fell using it on another client? So instead, he got a massage with lotion. That dried up. And she continued to massage. And talk about her boyfriend and name drop people he might know. Not really relaxing. I heard other clients leave talking about how great their massage was but for their regular prices, I'd rather go to a spa and enjoy all 60minutes from a professional. read more

I had purchased a Groupon for 2 massages from here a few months ago. Unfortunately, I did not feel comfortable enough to use the voucher for the second Groupon. I did not have a professional experience, the man giving me a massage was asking me personal questions and asking me about my tattoos. I felt it was a little strange, and threw off the relaxation of the massage. But then I really realized how inappropriate this was when the man asked me on a date and asked for my phone number! I felt so uncomfortable that he would take advantage of his role of working here to ask clients on dates. I left as quick as possible and felt very uncomfortable by this experience. I bought a Groupon to this place. My experience was just OK. The massage was fine enough but I think the larger problem is with the building and its administrative help. When I booked the appointment, I mentioned the Groupon and what it was for. Evidently, what I was booked for was not what I paid for as the woman conducting my massage doesn't conduct hot stone massages. I wasn't really bothered by this too much. Next is the office the place is in. It is a very small area and there is not much insulation. I say that because I could hear the conversations from the chiropractor's office next door, the telephone ringing (constantly), and people coming in and out. In fact, it turns out the secretary was out sick the day I was there and my therapist ended up leaving the room to answer the door. She was gone about five minutes dealing with the walk in. Now, she came back, apologized and said she would extend the massage to compensate. She did but the environment just does not lend to a spa or at least, relaxing, environment. My massage was good. The therapist asked continually if the pressure was ok or if there was anything to change. I was happy with her. Plus, they seem to have good deals ($30 for a massage in January). My only problem is the environment. I just didn't find it conducive to relaxation - which is why I was there. If the location changes, I would reconsider visiting. read more

"Massages reduce stress" is a highly ironic name for this business. The owner should follow her own philosophy and get a very deep muscle massage, 2 times a day forever. She is cuckoo crazy and so scary & hostile I forefeited the 2 services I paid up front for & chalked it up to a loss. She needs a daily regimen of at least 2 massages a day and a lot of intensive therapy. I'm still emotionally scarred from my interactions with her. Save yourself, do not go here! read more

I showed up today for my massage, and found out that my regular person no longer works there. I was a little irked because I never received a call, but I went w/my newly assigned masseuse, Karen. She was fantastic! My only complaint was that there was no music on in the room. There was a fan going, so there was some "white noise", but the new-agey music that is normally played during a massage is very relaxing to me. I will definitely keep going to see her, though. read more

I was filling out paperwork for some of the other people that went with me and I was asked if the person not filling out the paperwork spoke English. This is the worst place ever! They were 15 minutes late getting me into my appointment. Then the owner spent the entire time talking right outside the room. I told my masseuse and she was nice and understanding and spoke to the owner. She quieted up for about 5 minutes and then proceeded to pick up the phone and start all over. I should have read the small print but didn't expect the reaction I got from Beth. She rudely told me she doesn't make any money off of Groupon customers and I shouldn't have bought one. I wish I could give this place a lower rating. I'm truly upset that I got the groupon deal for this place for my girlfriend's birthday. When she tried to go, they have the wrong address listed on Groupon and when we tried to figure out where this place was, she was mis-directed twice and almost lost out on her massage. This place won't answer their phone. She lost out on time getting her massage because of this. On top of it, she wouldn't even have gotten the full 75 min massage because they said they had another massage appointed at noon, when they had my girlfriend scheduled at 11. Whoever run this place CLEARLY doesn't want new business or people purchasing from Groupon to come here. I feel bad for the employees who work for this place since, they were able to give my girlfriend a good experience. I have been to Massages Reduce Stress many times and the experiences have always been what I expected/asked for. I have requested a variety of therapists and each has her or his own techniques. Some have specialties like cranial sacral therapy: very slight movements that are very relaxing. Lymph massage significantly reduces the swelling in my ankles. A one hour appointment is one hour of massage. 15 minutes are scheduled between massages to allow for changing the linens, undressing and dressing. Water, which is necessary after each massage, is provided immediately. Rates are very reasonable, largely because of the no frills environment. By reducing overhead, the resultant savings are passed on to the clients. Multi-massage packages are available. A 10 massage package purchase means you can get twice as many massages at Massages Reduce Stress than elsewhere. For that kind of saving, I'm willing to sacrifice "atmosphere" which I don't see and am unaware of while getting my massage. read more
