I received a gift card for Christmas for Massage Luxe Spa. It says it's for a 60 minute massage or a luxe facial. I admittedly, put the card away and forgot about it. When I saw it, I thought, "this is probably expired." I searched for the locations, called the closest one to me, explained the situation, and the receptionist was lovely. I told her it was from 2 Christmases ago and I wasn't sure it was good. She took the number on the card, and confirmed that it was all set. I filled out the sent paperwork, and got excited for this "treat myself" moment. There aren't any of these spas near my house, so I drove to the closest one to me, a half hour away. Only for the receptionist to tell me that my gift card isn't good here. She was not apologetic, I explained that I had called and got confirmation that I was good to go. She said she called her manager, and wouldn't be able to pay the esthetician because the money would go to another store. (I've worked retail, I get it. I do) But wait! I'm in luck, instead of using my gift card, I can pay $80 because I've never been here before. I simply responded that I'm not going to do that. She looked at me incredulously. She asked if I was going to get my facial, I asked her, "Why would I do that? Why would I give you money when you've refused a gift card I got confirmation over the phone at 3:00 today to use." She then turned the gift card over and pointed to the letters and said, "See? It says Bloomfield Hills." Okay, so I should've read the small letters in the back. That's on me. But maybe whomever I spoke to on the phone should have asked if it said a location. I suddenly got nervous that they're going to charge my card I had to give them to place my appointment, so I asked, and she said she's not going to charge me. I guess we'll see, because they did make me sign a 6 hour cancellation contract. What a terrible experience. Zero customer care. A huge waste of my time and gas. I genuinely, sincerely hope that whomever owns this establishment reads this and knows that you've earned a detractor for life. As I was about to leave I said to the receptionist, "I don't live close to here. You really should make sure that whomever answers the phone knows to double check these things." She looked uncomfortable so I left. Mainly because I feel stupid but they definitely perpetuated that feeling. No thank you. read more

Buyer beware. This is a chain massage parlor with very deceptive business practices. I doubt I ever would have come if I had not been given a gift card for my birthday last year. Nevertheless my well meaning friend gave me one. I had a really nice massage when I used the card but then come the high pressure sales tactics. I would encourage anyone who goes to there intending for a one time trip to just make a sign that says no, no, no and avoid being convinced to sign up for a membership. This is where they get really sneaky and unethical. I was feeling nice and relaxed and was convinced that despite being 30+ mile from my home, I would make the trip out to get a massage once a month, and if I didn't, I was told I could gift the unused massage to others. My dad loves massages, and also I thought if my massage hours accrued, I could get a couples massage with my husband, so if would be fine. Then of course life and work and kids happened as they do and the hours just kept piling up unused. I finally went back and used one and asked to cancel my membership while there. I was told I had to speak to a manager who was not present so I couldn't cancel but I could call and ask to talk to her later. The cancellation process is convoluted and restricted. You are sent a form that expires in 24hrs. So it must be sent back right away or you need to call back and find the manager for a new one. Finally I started the cancellation process and obviously wanted to use my hours that were paid for. I booked for a wax, but that was not covered under my hours so I had to come out of pocket. I was going out of town but was assured I had 60 days to use my hours so no biggie, I'll get a mega massage when I get back. I call to make that appointment but am informed my hours have expired. Apparently it is 60 days from last billing, not from the time of cancellation. So my "free" gifted massage ended up costing me around $500. I gave this place 2 stars because the one massage therapist and one waxer I got to experience were actually very good. It is the company that is out to scam you on the membership. Amazing massages, great environment, affordable & worthwhile packages. In the beginning of 2022, my wife and I made "taking care of our health" a priority. We chose the right place to do so! MassageLuxe, consistently, is a great experience from the moment we walk in and are greeted by the wonderful people that work the front desk, to our massages, and the booking experience for our next appointment each month. The hydrobed is a nice touch too for before, after or even just a quick fifteen minute visit when you're in the neighborhood. We started with the introductory member price for a one time visit. After our massages, we were offered a two month rate that was really low, then it would go to the normal rate of around $100 a month. With our family plan, we get two services a month, which we use for massages for the both of us. It's a really good deal as opposed to someone walking in off the street for each of their massages and paying that much each time. You can cancel at any time too. Now for massages, we both had two massage therapists at random when we started. The following month my wife had Anthony and for a few months after, I had whomever was available when I wanted to go. Now though and for the past 7 months, we've both had Anthony and he is absolutely amazing. He knows how to get all of your pain points you describe to him and tailor the massage specifically for your needs. As an example, I have shoulder and neck problems due to stress, sitting all day, and many knots in my shoulders. He has me face down the whole time and really gets into all of those knots. Along the way, he talks to you during the massage if you choose to. He always gives me great feedback during my massage when I'm explaining my stress and other life issues. Anthony really makes you feel like a friend that he's trying to help. Post massage, I usually go into the hydrobed for fifteen minutes. If i'm out and about, I'll stop in and use it as well. With your membership, you can use it once a day during their business hours. This entire year, it's only been broken once because someone's keys poked a hole in it. It was fixed really quick. I bought my boyfriend a gift certificate for his birthday to get a massage here and I'm extremely angry and disappointed by the way they have treated him, and I'm certain numerous other customers. When he came home from his appointment, he was in pain for a week and said that the massage itself did not go well. This of course is the opposite of what I had hoped his experience would be like for his birthday. When he was there, they pushed him into a membership. Him agreeing to that, I will admit, is on him. However, when he tried to cancel once he realized that it was the worst massage of his life, they refused to cancel over the phone and required him to fill out a form that was apparently sent to his email. Mind you, my boyfriend is an extremely polite man who isn't confrontational in the slightest, so I KNOW he wasn't giving them a hard time. So when he said he couldn't find the email with the form, the response he received from the receptionist was unacceptable. The receptionist was incredibly rude, acted like there was nothing more inconvenient in the world than working with a customer, and told him she "had customers" and was "too busy" to stay on the phone with him while he looked for the email with the form. She even said that she wasn't going to resend the email because she had already sent it. After not finding the email, they then proceeded to charge his card another $75 and told him he would have to come in for another massage if he wanted to cancel. Reading through the yelp reviews, I found a similar situation where, the customer "tried to call and make the appointment three times and every single time I spoke to the absolute rudest individual I have ever talked to on the phone. Apparently they are so busy it's just an inconvenience to schedule me a massage." This is clearly another example of the type of service provided here, given my boyfriends' experience. Managers/Owners, if you ever want happy, regular customers, you seriously need to reevaluate who you have working customer service and conduct trainings for these employees. Anyways, I'd consider reevaluating my stance if the business tries to fix the situation. SCAM. YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. I have been to other MassageLuxe locations and have had lovely experiences but this was my first and last time at the Troy location. I purchased the buy one get one 1-hour massage for $120. I arrived at 12:58 for my 1pm appointment, I was in the waiting room by 1:03. No one has come to get me for 10 minutes so I went to the bathroom. Was back in the waiting room by 1:15. My masseuse came to get me at 1:15 and I went back to the room at 1:15. After prepping for massage, my massage started at 1:20. MY MASSEUSE SAID "thanks for coming" at 1:45pm FOR MY 1-hour massage. That's a 25 minute massage when I paid for an hour. Fine, give me a 50- minute massage to account for getting ready time but 25 minutes is unacceptable when you're getting a 1-hour $120 service. I told the masseuse this wasn't right and she said "I have another massage starting at 2pm and you got here late"... WHICH I DID NOT. I waited 10 Minutes in the waiting room before I got up to go to the bathroom since no one came to get me. I talked to the manager and asked to pay for the service I received which was a 25 minute massage (wanting $20-$30 back). She said it was not possible and she could do an add on to my next service. (I wouldn't buy another service from this place because you don't get what you pay for!). I then asked for my tip money back as a gift card because I prepaid for tip with a massage luxe gift card and they said it was not possible to do that. Luckily they figured out that they could and I drove back to get my tip money to go get an actual service from another massageluxe. It's important that businesses like this not take advantage of customers. I spent a good chunk of money on this- which is not typically in my budget. It was a splurge. And I left it feeling taken advantaged of, ripped off and cheated before my holiday. Please spend your money elsewhere if you want to be spoiled in a spa experience. My husband bought me a gift certificate as a nice gesture, and it has been nothing but disappointment. #1- he was overcharged for a 90 minute massage from what they had posted online. I should've known this was gonna be a scam experience from the start. #2- I have tried to call and make the appointment three times and every single time I speak to the absolute rudest individual I have ever talked to you on the phone. Apparently they are so busy it's just an inconvenience to schedule me a massage. #3-finally found a spot for me and only if I give a credit card over the phone can I have a booking. (even though I have a certificate to cover the full massage). You do not give your credit card over the phone in 2024 but apparently, these guys don't care. #4 finally spoke to a manager and they told me I can't have a refund and they can't hold a spot for me to ever book but if I want to just show up maybe I'll get lucky for a massage being open sometime. They had me almost booked for a facial this past weekend until they asked for a credit card to be put on file. The card on file was to to be used to charge me for if I were to cancel within a 2 hour cancellation. I get why they do this but it's still really shady. They would do this if I were coming in the same day even and 2 hours away. 2 hours notice for a cancellation is quite reasonable to give notice. Why punish someone for giving 2 hours notice. It's not like it's a seat on a flight. And sometimes life happens. Staff would likely be there for another walk-in then. I had spa week cards I have been trying to get rid of and I was unable to use them without having to hand over my credit card number. Not a fan of giving my credit card over the phone at all to anyone, just for it to be filed away so they can charge me. I get some folks are no shows. I have yet to miss an appointment made, yet. MassageLuXe was doing a $35 Black Friday deal recently and I was wanting a massage, so I took advantage of it. They are open on Sundays so I went here today for my massage. First off, I'm glad I looked on Google Maps beforehand, because for some reason I thought they were in the plaza with Fresh Thyme. They are actually at the corner of Wattles and Rochester Road. I unfortunately did not get the name of my masseuse, but she was very good. This was probably the nicest massage place I have been to as of yet; the last time I got a massage was in March and it was at a place that was actually more of a doctor's office, in Rochester. You are shown into a waiting room when you arrive and they make you fill out a few forms on an iPad before your massage. Once I got to the massage room, I was told that the massage bed or whatever it's called was heated; it was SUPER nice and comfortable. The masseuse used oils and a light touch for me, because I have fibromyalgia. After the massage, I was told that my deal included 15 minutes in their hydro massage room, so I took advantage of that as well. The best way I can describe it is that if you've ever gone to Brookstone and tried out one of the massage chairs, it's like that, except you're lying down and it's a water massage - you leave your clothes on for it though except for your shoes. I had read the previous Yelp reviews on here saying that they felt like MassageLuXe was trying to upsell them for membership after their massage. I didn't feel that way, but they did offer it to me, and I signed up ... the reason being that my next massage is only $10, which is a ridiculously good deal, and then I will be billed for one more $65 massage, and then it's month to month (no contracts). To be honest, I will probably cancel after the second massage because $65 per month (plus tip) is not really in my budget, but $75 for two massages, before tip, is not a bad deal. It also includes daily use of the hydro massage machine if I want it. I forgot to mention that my masseuse sent me home with some Bengay-esque gel and also Epsom salts to use in my bath, because of my back pain. You also get a mini bottle of water after your massage. Excellent customer service all around, including the front desk staff, and I'm excited to return for my next massage sometime soon. read more

I got a Groupon for a facial to MassageLuXe. I had heard about the chain before as being an affordable massage place but have never been to one before. I called to make an appointment and the woman I talked to on the phone wasn't overly nice but she wasn't rude either. When I walked in for my appointment a week later I was greeted but a very nice girl at the front desk. She did a great job of getting everyone checked in. She led me to a waiting area which was kind of awkward, everyone was just looking around the room. I could hear the staff talking from down the hall kind of loudly about non-work related things. Someone came to greet me and walked me to the facial room. She asked me if I had ever had a facial before and I said no which means she didn't read the paperwork I filled out since that was one of the questions. That could be kind of concerning if you have an allergy or something. She didn't give me too many directions except to put on the robe which I did and just kind of stood there until she came back. The facial was good, I don't really have anything to compare it to. Toward the end, she put a mask on my face and I just kind of sat there for what seemed like a long awhile. I tipped at the end even though I had a Groupon. I was also able to try the HydoMassage which was something I had never experienced before. It was cool but I don't think I would go back just for that. Overall the experience was good but it wasn't great. I was in need of a massage and found a decent deal for this place on Groupon so I bought it and scheduled my appointment. The deal was for an hour massage and then 10 minutes on their HydroMassage table (members of Planet Fitness are familiar with these). My appointment was at 7:00 that evening and I was told to arrive 15 minutes early so I could fill out paperwork which I did. I will say that the ambience and atmosphere were nice. It has a very relaxing vibe to it. I finished my brief paperwork and proceed to wait in their waiting room for what seemed like forever. When my therapist finally came and got me I looked at my phone to see it was 7:15 and thought to myself that surely I'd still receive my full hour. I changed, got on the table and when she came back another five minutes had past. She did her spiel and asked what I liked and disliked which ate up another five minutes. By the time she started it was almost a half an hour into my scheduled time. Long story short, the massage was decent and when she advised me that my time was up and left so I could change, I looked at the clock on the wall and it was 8:00 on the nose. My hour session ended up be half that. I was a bit pissed, but kept it to myself at the time because I only paid less than half price due to the Groupon. Upon leaving I greeted my wife in the lobby who had dropped me off and they attempted to get me to sign up for their monthly plan. I politely declined, but they kept pushing it on me. I wasn't interested and it seemed like they were annoyed I didn't want to sign up. After leaving my wife informed me in the car that they were pressuring her hard too while she waited. One guy kept asking her if he could give her a massage and she kept telling him no to which he said something along the lines of "you must just like feeling stressed all the time then I guess". No dude, she was stressed because you kept creeping on her and wouldn't leave her alone! Needless to say it was not enjoyable and I won't be returning. Looking at Yelp as i was writting this I find it peculiar that there are dozens of filtered 5 Star reviews in the span of like a week from people who just set up accounts and this place was their only review. Sounds to me like they created fake accounts to post bogus reviews in hopes to drive in business. She recommended the right treatment that best suited my skin's needs. I loved that she used gentle pressure the entire time. The products used contained natural ingredients and were non-abrasive. I reluctantly signed up for a membership, which I don't know if I will keep long term since I don't usually get regular massages, but I will take advantage of for the time being with the fair cost. My massage therapist was Laurie. She did a great job of finding all the trigger points I knew I had (and a few I didn't know I had). She just says "ok." Staff is not empathetic and you get different information every time. 1st massage with Leah was great! Probably one of the best ever then Leah left and it has been a challenge to get a follow up with another therapist. Thought I had one for today even got a email confirm but when I showed up on time after waiting in the lounge was told the appointment had been canceled! She went on to say she had left a voice mail of the cancellation on my voice mail. I told the receptionist I did not get a voice mail cancellation. She offered no apology or other explanation only repeated she left a voice mail message herself. On a call back to the office I discovered they actually called the wrong number one that is never checked. Again no apology for spending time arriving for the appoint not even thank you! It doesn't take me that long to change. Almost unable to walk due to lower back/glute muscle pain from scoliosis, I went to MassageLuxe-Troy hoping for just a short visit of feeling something good for if only an hour. To my surprise, after an hour with Brooke, I came out of that appointment able to move, walk, and lift a leg I hadn't been able to lift on my own for almost 4 months. She worked the area hard with deep tissue techniques. It must have really made her tired, but I was so taken aback at what a good professional massage could actually do for my ability to move and my quality of life....Just incredible. I tried this MassageLuXe location because they were advertising a Valentine's special. The special was stated to include a 1 hour Luxe facial, 1 hour standard massage, eye treatment, scalp treatment, and hydroluxe session. I called on Saturday the 3rd to ask for more details (how much of those 1 hour sessions is actually spent being treated by the esthetician/massage therapist, how much do add-ons cost if I choose to do them, etc.) and booked an appointment for Monday the 5th with two add-ons, aromatherapy and a foot scrub. The employee booking my appointment at that time informed me that the foot scrub add on is traditionally done by the massage therapists, but that the estheticians had decided to try it out during facials as well, and to simply let them know if I would like the foot scrub during my facial instead. Sunday the 4th I received a text message confirmation which had not only the times of my appointment for the facial and massage, but the selected options, which was marked down as a seaweed facial and swedish massage. This would be nice, except for the fact that I hadn't selected the options. The employee on Saturday never asked me which options I wanted, so I assumed (I know, bad on my part) that I would simply select my options when I arrived. So I called on Sunday to inform them that there was a misunderstanding and that those weren't the options I selected. I checked their website to see what options were available and asked for the glyco-peel facial and the deep tissue massage. No problem. I had also decided at this point that I would like to do the foot scrub during the facial, since there is down time during facials when they are letting a product sit and it seemed more efficient to do the foot scrub then rather than take time away from getting my knots worked out during my massage to have the foot scrub done. The employee assisting me then informs me that the foot scrub add-on is only offered during massages, not during facials. Okay, seemed like a new thing when the employee told me the day prior, maybe they didn't inform this person yet, I'll sort it out when I get there tomorrow. I arrive for my appointment about 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I asked again about doing the foot scrub during my facial, was again told they don't do that, informed them of what I was told Saturday, and was told that my esthetician will not do that. Okay, whatever. Office staff seemed friendly enough, just not very organized. I was taken back to the treatment room for my facial on time. My esthetician (Brandy) started going over the treatment I selected which was the glyco-peel. She mentions that it's a 30 minute facial and I stopped her, I said I signed up for a 60 minute. She then tells me that the glyco-peel is only a 30 minute service and that it doesn't come with the cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, or hand and arm massage services that 60 minute facials do. She then explains that for my price I could only do the seaweed facial or the pore-refining facial for 60 minutes or I could get the glyco-peel with the extra services and 60 minutes of treatment time but it would be an extra cost. None of this was stated on the website, none of it was mentioned by the employees over the phone. I then ask her if they even marked down the eye and scalp treatment, she checks her ipad and says no. I elect to pay the extra money ($20) to get the treatment I thought I was getting in the first place, Brandy goes up front to change the schedule around for herself and for my massage (because it is now 15 minutes past my appointment start time, thankfully neither her or the massage therapist had anyone directly after me so that was okay), she comes back, tells me it's all sorted out and apologizes, and says I can undress and get comfortable. She performs the treatment, did a good job except for the scalp treatment which seemed very rushed, brings me a robe to tranfer to the massage room and I switch rooms. The massage therapist, Sonia was also very friendly. She asked which add-ons I selected, I told her foot scrub and aromatherapy. She asks which scent I'd like for aromatherapy and I select lavender. She then says that lavender is free and included with the base price of the massage, so I can select another add-on instead. I go with the hot stones. Sonia does a great job, got pretty much every knot out. Foot scrub at the end seemed a bit rushed, but whatever. Then she tells me we're all done and the ladies up front will check me out. As I'm dressing I see a note on the floor (slid under the door I guess) telling her that her next client was there. Maybe that's why the foot scrub seemed rushed? I go up front, pay the bill, am given the pitch about membership, listen and politely decline, and I leave. I didn't realize until I got home that they didn't even offer me the hydroluxe session which was part of the package. read more

I contacted them after hours on a Sunday hoping for them to squeeze me in on Monday for a massage. I received a text back even though they were closed confirming a 90 minute appt with Angelina. The staff was sooo friendly and I've been getting massages for years. Angelina was the best massage therapist I've ever had. If their pricing were a little lower as the regular place I go to I'd go there instead. I suffer from insomnia and it was the best nights sleep I've had! I'll be back soon!!! read more

I have been to massage luxe a couple of times. However this time was different it was a couples massage! Something we as a couple have never done. You always see in movies or social media the expectation set for a couples massage. Let me give you a visual of ours. Beds are in two different rooms with a curtain that divides if needed. Two different masseuse. One quiet, calm, what you would expect for a relaxing massage. The other- loud, counting down the minutes for when our massage was done, telling my significant other there were a lot of problem areas, telling him to do movements as she massages, moaning at times for no reason, and speaking very loudly. Now you can image I have the calm masseuse who you can tell feels horrible and the loud one massage my spouse. It was not a relaxing experience. I feel bad for my masseuse because he was WONDERFUL- he knew the frustration we both had. But I don't think the other masseuse was aware of the loud energy she was putting off. When stated something felt good she responded with, "I know, I have been doing this for 10 years I know it feels good!". & as customers the last thing you want to be is rude. So we just bit our lip and experienced an hour and a half of none stop talking by one loud masseuse. I wouldn't say not to go here. I thought over all the professionalism was outstanding. I think to avoid this type of experience from ever happening again they should do a survey on what they want their experience to be like. 1. No talking by the massage therapist 2.
