So I will start by saying I enjoyed my massage, I got a deal on Groupon and tried it out and loved the massage. They signed me up for a membership program I regret ever signing up for...$10 for the next hour massage (which counted as a month charge) and $58 for the next month (also another hour massage) Since I enjoyed the first massage, I upgraded to a hot stone massage for $22 more. Fast forward a few weeks, I had not heard anything from them and couldn't remember when my next scheduled appointment was, and when I called apparently I missed it days prior. I asked when they called me to confirm the appointment, they stated the call was the day before the appointment. They never called me, and it turns out they called someone else with a different number. No big deal...I still wanted a massage so I ask to reschedule and use the amount of money I paid for...nope, was told I lost the money I paid. I was reminded that calls to tell you about an appointment are a "courtesy" and not a requirement on their end and that I'm responsible for knowing when I made the appointment. Days later, $58 charged to me...I go in person to cancel and "sorry, not sure why, but I can't cancel for you" is what I got. A few days after I'm eligible to cancel, but only if I go in person to sign something. Mind you, through all this time I ask for a manager to call me to sort this out since I STILL wanted the massage! Finally, with multiple requests unanswered, I've now disputed the charge with my bank and block them from future charges (so good luck getting more money!) from them. Absolutely the worst service I ever got from a business who wants repeat business. Massage was great, but do yourself a favor and don't sign up for their membership. read more

I bought a1 hr massage on Groupon (should have known better) and the massage was fine (not great) and when I was finished the' girls' at the front desk somehow pressured me into signing a membership saying "you can cancel at anytime". I went back once because the location just wasn't convenient. Long story short, I moved to Georgia and tried to call and cancel the membership and they made it so painfully difficult! I could only come in' in person' to cancel or send a certified letter stating to cancel. Are you kidding me! I just closed on a house in FL via e-signature online while in Ga!!! But I need to do this in order to cancel a stupid membership with them! Get with the 21st century and stop trying to make things so difficult for people! Worst mistake joining there! Don't get suckered in to their gimmicks!!!! read more

I had my massage yesterday with Mary Ellen. It was amazing! She hit all the areas that were knotted. I have had massages for years and this was in the top 5! Thank you Mary Ellen at the Lutz Massage Luxe. read more

I have to agree with the "Hard Sell". I got a double dose yesterday, first the woman checking me out after a facial gave me the pitch, then I guess it was the owner, gave me an even harder pitch. Finally she just stared at me and told me next time my facial (this time $48.00) would cost $71.00 !!! The service was good, I did enjoy my facial, but will not go back due to the pressure to become a "member". By the way, do NOT say this is a fake review. Me thinks thou doth protest too much !! read more

The massage therapists are amazing! Every experience I have had with them has been wonderful. Unfortunately, the management and certain front desk staff employees completely lack the skills necessary to service and retain their existing clientele. Beware if you do choose to sign a contract with them, because when you do, they apparently see that as a license to no longer be decent, service-oriented individuals. In short, they've got you! If you have a legitimate family emergency and call an hour and a half before your appointment time, do not expect compassion. Instead, expect to be told they require a courtesy call two hours beforehand and they will be charging you for the missed appointment. Btw...money that I'm sure goes to the owner's bottom line and not the hardworking massage therapist. Anyway, while they are happy to tell you they are taking your money over the phone, they will not accept that you wish to discontinue your membership since your business is apparently not valued. No, for that, you must go there in person. So once you have your family emergency under control and you show up to cancel your membership, expect more robotic, unhelpful, canned responses from a manager that hides behind the fine print of your agreement. Expect to LOSE MORE MONEY because they will take whatever money they have collected to date for unused sessions if you cancel your membership. They trap you into "freezing" your account so you won't lose your sessions, but this costs $5 a month and you cannot use your sessions until you reactivate. THE MEMBERSHIP IS A TOTAL RIP OFF! Again, the therapists are great, so if you choose to go, just pay per visit. Do not let these people rope you into an agreement. I wish I hadn't done it. I will use the credits I have, as I refuse to allow them to just take MORE of my money, but I assure you that when I am done, I will be taking my business to an establishment where it is valued. read more

VERY SHADY! DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM - My wife and I signed a contract with them for a massage a month. Like most people. I used it regularly at first, then got busy and didn't go regularly. This built up a bunch of credits hours on my account. When I called to check if they're transferable to family members, they said they were not. Understandable, I guess. When I asked if they can suspend our accounts from further billing for additional credit hours, they said they could only do that in person. I scheduled a massage, and while there, brought this up with the associate, who said, "No problem, I'll do that for you." Months later, I realized they had continued to charge my account. I called them to ask why and they said I had to do that in person, to which I explained that had been done on my last visit. She asked if I had proof. (SERIOUSLY?) Apparently there's a form that needs to be filled out that their associate neglected to tell me about. The result being that there was approximately $600 in additional charges billed to my account that shouldn't have been and they don't "have a way" to offer refunds back to my account. (Again, SERIOUSLY?) I asked the associate to speak with a manger (Not there at that time, of course) but she said she'd call me back. I never did hear back from her (Lisa, I believe is her name). And here's another tidbit... after speaking with a family member who's also a member of MassageLuxe, even once I fill out that form and suspend additional services, I cannot use any THE CREDITS I HAD ACCUMULATED. Credits can only be used WHILE THEY'RE CHARGING YOU FOR MORE CREDITS! Bottom line, they're bright smiles and dimples to get you to sign up (sell your soul?) and schedule you for appointments, but once you have the slightest issue, customer service is non existent! The actual massages are ok, but you'd get a better massage at any number of other nearby places such as Carrollwood Massage Therapy, Crystal Tampa Spa. read more

Ugh ... the WORST place ever! My therapist - Erica- fell asleep while giving me a massage. She kept dozing off during the last 30 mins of my 60 minute massage. I didn't say anything to her, but spoke with the manager after. I did pay for the massage as well as gave her a tip. After explaining what I experienced with the therapist, the Manager offered me a "new visitor rate" for the next visit, if I wanted to come back. The manager also gave me some "Corporate" phone number. I called the number and they said that MassageLuxe is a franchise and they do not get involved with anything at all. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with this business. I will never re-visit again. read more

Had the worse massage ever at the location on van dyke today - don't know if it was because I let them know in January that I needed to cancel next month (leaving the country for an extended period of time) or what the problem was. I could have put the service on hold for $5 but after that massage I couldn't wait to cancel permanently and needless to say will not be going back ever again read more

Uhhh where do I start. We walked in the girls we're friendly. And we had to fill in the survey. I came in with neck and back pain. So when I told the masseuse that I have pain there and if she can focus on that but do a full body massage. She was pressing so hard on my bone. I wasn't even sure If it was a deep tissue massage or a deep bone massage. Anyways I wake up the next day and I'm in more pain and can't even move my neck compared to when I first came in. The only good thing about the place is the hydro massage. Definitely not worth going there unless you want them to massage your bones read more

This massage facility does a pretty high pressure sale when you go in for one of their online massage specials. Upon signing up for this and having the monthly charge for eight months I realized I had only gotten three massages and it was wasting my money. So I went into the store and canceled because when I called I was told that I had to do so in person. Now one month later I am still being charged and the representative on the phone is insisting that I never canceled my membership. What a terrible way to do business in a world where all customer service issues can be shared online. This is a shame I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. read more

the massages have been fine for the most part, my issue is with the whole membership program. i was completely misled when i was first told about the membership. firstly, i was told that i'd be able to transfer over my credits as a gift card to give someone else. i thought this would be a great idea so that some months i could let my mom go instead of me. what they didn't mention until after i had signed up and was wanting to transfer credits was that i'd have to pay an additional $20 to do so. so now i'm paying $80 for a $60 massage? they also told me (AFTER i had already signed up) that you can only transfer once every 6 months (i believe it's 6... i apologize if i have the number wrong, but i know for a fact they said i have to wait a period of time before being able to transfer again). the massage is already paid for, why do they care who comes to get it???? i've run into some difficult times with money and can't afford a monthly membership anymore. i called and tried to cancel, but was unable to for a couple reason. when first signing up, never ONCE was i told that A. i could ONLY cancel memberships in person and B. if i cancel my membership, allll of my stored credits would be gone. There were a few months when i was gone on vacation and then got sick and i've been extremely busy with work and didn't use my credits for the month so they rolled over. if i canceled my membership now, i wouldn't be able to use that $240 worth of credits that i purchased! instead, i'd have to use up all the credits before i'm charged the next month and then cancel the membership in person. it's such a trap, knowing that i won't want to cancel the membership if i still have credits in my account because i won't want to waste that money, but then continuing to charge me each month while i'm already trying to catch up. i've already given them my money, how are they gonna literally steal that from me by not providing the service i've already paid for, just because i no longer want to have the monthly membership? that is literally the only reason i still have this membership, because i haven't had the time to use up all my credits before being charged again each month. and this ties in with my previous complaint of having to wait a period of time and being charged $20 to transfer credits into a gift card for someone else to use. i can't even gift some to friends or family to help use up my credits, like i was told i'd be able to do! also, i'm honestly not one to complain about this type of thing but it really shocked me the way the front desk workers were talking to each other. i was sitting in the waiting room and they were openly and loudly talking bad about customers who had previously come in or that they'd talked to on the phone. like, talking about one woman's appearance (getting a massage is already a vulnerable thing, and you're gonna comment on someone's appearance??) and also talking bad about someone who called to cancel their appointment. another time, they were straight up complaining about their job to each other right in front of me! saying things like "i hate it here" and "i can't wait to leave" and "i don't get paid enough for this" and other things like that. and they were talking bad about, who i assume was, their manager. it's just a very unprofessional environment, and again, not something i'd even normally complain about. but i can't imagine talking bad about the company you work for IN FRONT of customers who are paying to be there. veryyy long story short, my experience here has been frustrating and could've been avoided if my questions were answered fully and truthfully before signing up instead of answering them partially and leaving out parts, then telling me the restrictions after i'm locked into the membership. i will say though, their hydroluxe water massage table..... 10/10 would recommend lol. i'll give them a second star just for that. read more

Worst customer service and business practice I have ever seen. A group of us bought their Groupon to get massages for a Bachelorette party. Called the number on the Groupon 2 months ahead of time to book all the massages at the same time. We called 1 hour in advance and confirmed our appointment. Went to the address specified on our Groupon and arrived 10 minutes early only to be told that we did not have an appointment with them and that our appointment was at a different location which was 20 minutes away. Asked the location we were currently at (12161 W Linebaugh ave) for the address to where we were supposed to be at because we did not have that information. On the drive to the correct location we called the number on the Groupon again to try to explain our situation to the correct location. Was told that the number we had called was for the location that we were just leaving. Asked them for the phone number for where we were supposed to be at because we did not have that information either. While on the phone with the wrong location the person who booked the massage gets a call from the correct location asking where we are. We explain the situation and they told us that when we booked the massages they told us the address for where we were supposed to go to (never happened). Told us that they had called us 2 days in advance to confirm our appointment (never happened). They told us that they called all 6 of us because they had all of our numbers to try to confirm our appointment. When we asked what all of our numbers where they could only produce 2 phone number, 1 of which did not belong to any of us. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told the manager was Shelby. When we got there at 3:25 and asked to speak to a manager about the situation was told the manager was Lisa. Lisa was extremely rude, condescending and sarcastic when explaining our situation to her. When we told her about how we drove from Jacksonville for this Bachelorette party to get this massage that we booked over 2 months ago she told us that because we were not members there they essentially didn't care if they lost our business. They refused any accommodations and refused to accept any responsibility for this issue. Worst experience I've ever had. Thanks for ruining a bride's day. Would strongly recommend anyone interested in getting a massage with a professional company that understands customer service through and through to go the the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa - Westshore (124 S Westshore Blvd). read more

Before you read this review keep in mind I had a membership for an entire year ! Absolutely the worst place you can try to go to be accommodated in a professional way. There is no quality of client interaction at all. From the scheduling to the quality of the massage is poor, they will reference corporate rules at every turn instead of working with you on any issue. Seriously, would be easier if they just had robots or a self check in with no personal human interaction. Simply unqualified people are running the day to day here , avoid this place at all costs and save your money. read more

Beware of the hard sell right from the get go. Facilities are nice. Massage was good but instead of letting you evaluate the membership or if you want to go on a regular basis, they push the super hard tactic at you the first time you go....VERY BAD PRACTICE in this type of product. Today only, they say. Only time to get a good deal on a membership. What kind of BS is that. If like the product or service, you'll buy it. If you don't, you won't. Pretty simple Business 101 concept that apparently was lost on them......wow And don't you dare come back and say this is a fake review. I'm am MBA +++ professional who stares facts as I see them... First experiences say a lot! My Massage Therapist was very good and professional. However, I went on a day where apparently the owners were feeling a bit above their front desk staff and I could here the owners Bill and his wife yelling and talking down to their employees about pushing memberships. Mind you this place has only been open a short while and for a new potential member to witness this is so unprofessional. Needless to say, I did not sign up for a membership and Bill tried to pour on his pathetic charm not realizing I over heard the wolf in sheep's clothing talking to his staff as if he was a father scolding and talking down to his kids. read more

We have had an account for almost 3 yrs. We freeze it because we travel a lot. My husband forgot to re-freeze on his last visit and we were charged $58...no notice. I called to find out why and was told that because I disputed a charge (they said I didn't cancel an appointment, I did cancel and was told by a person who was familiar with us that she knew I always canceled if we couldn't make it) they canceled my account in May of 2019 and never notified me. I found out yesterday (12/15/19) . I had credit hours on my account and was also informed that I can no longer use those either...because of my dispute! They reimbursed me for it!! Why would they do that if I was in the wrong?? Very disappointed in this company's work ethics. My husband has to go there in person to re-freeze his account or we will be charged another $58!! They wouldn't do it over the phone. I am waiting to hear back from their corporate office or the Lutz office regarding this issue. Great staff...feeling relaxed and refreshed now. Very clean place...super nice Staff....they will take care of you here.

I would give them zero stars if I could. They stole money from us. Before Father's Day I went in the get a gift for my husband. They offered me a 1 1/2 hour massage for $59 plus tip. It didn't matter if he had been there before. The only stipulation was that he use it by October 31st. On October 26th he called to schedule the massage. They told him they needed his credit card to charge him another $48 to get the massage. He told them what we bought and the "supervisor" said it was wrong and that since he had been a previous customer he didn't qualify. I called back and asked to speak to the manager and they said she would t be in until the following week but if he wanted to use a Groupon he could get a one hour massage for $4 extra dollars plus tip. That is terrible. They completely took advantage of us and would not listen nor did they try to help us. She just had a smug attitude and didn't give a dang about customer satisfaction. After that, how could my husband even relax at that place. They should be ashamed for lying and taking advantage of people. Never again will we set foot in that place. Be aware if you choose to trust them. read more

I am so disgusted with this company. If I could give zero stars, I would. Massage Luxe is willing to give non-members excellent prices through "group-on," but refuses to allow their own customers to use their own "credits" as we wish. I have been a GREAT and LOYAL customer through this horrid Covid time and permitted Massage Luxe to continue charging me every month, despite not being able to use the membership. Now, finally, I am able to get out and about and they refuse to allow me to use MY "credits" as I wish. On top of it all, they are going to CHARGE ME to use MY credits. I spoke to the manager and was told there was nothing at all she could do because it's a "corporate policy" and the computer will not allow her to accommodate my request. Massage Luxe wanted me to be loyal to them, for their benefit, and when I ask to use 2 or 3 credits for a friend, the answer is NO. There is NO EXCUSE in such horrific customer service and satisfaction. I am one VERY DISGUSTED CUSTOMER!!! read more

WORST PLACE EVER !!! Here is another negative be review !! My massage was crappy and I also got sucked into to some stupid plan by paying $10 up front, as I left I started thinking about how I really cannot commit to a monthly massage program. So I went back within 2 hours to cancel the membership. The receptionist Melinda stated she has to call her manager because she is not sure how to cancel it ! Then she comes up front and says okay I can cancel it but you are going to have to forfeit the $10 you paid because I cannot refund you. So I asked to speak to that manager that she stated she spoke with, and she proceeds to tell me that they are not on duty so I will not call back. Then she tells me she is an assistant manager. ( WTF?! Get your story straight Melinda! ) So she then states you cannot get the $10 back so does that change your mind about canceling ?! LOL . It definitely does not make me want to stay there ! Anyways I lost $10 but have a cancellation paper and now I have been reading reviews that I should have checked earlier, and I'm seeing that tons of people have been scammed and lost tons of money ! I cannot believe this place is still in business. I filed a complaint with the BBB and plan to make sure complaints are all over the internet, in hopes to prevent others from getting scammed. read more

This is my go to spa. I am a nurse and have issues with a tense neck from stress. There are a couple hidden gems as far as estheticians and massage therapists. I really love their members program. If you get a facial and/or massage more than once a month it's a tremendous deal. One pays $88.95 a month for two free hours. One hour for your regular facial or massage. Two hours for a VIP massage or facial. After you use up your two hours for the month every facial or massage thereafter is discounted to a member price. Way less expensive than not being a member and randomly going in. Everyone is also happy and professional, and appointments are readily available. I highly recommend this establishment. read more

Called to make appointment same day. They took Groupon info. I confirmed my babysitter. Went to walk dog. While walking dog they called and said appointment as ordered is not confirmed because they forgot to collect $5 each for upgrade to couples room. I am disabled but had to rush back home to get cc to put on file because of their error. Then I called later to let them know babysitter was running late so I would be 10 minutes late. They said ok. No notice that service would be cut short. Wife and I went in and yes they cut a 1 hour massage down to 30 minutes. We were 10 minutes late and 5 minutes to fill out paperwork. they stopped 10 whole minutes before our 1 hour time would have been up if we were on time, so if they would have continued we would have at least got 40 minutes of our 1 hour. But they stopped. I was gonnna let it go and not say anything until started trying to sell membership. I said no we will pass for now. I was just about to walk away and maybe come back another time after I cooled off and then she asked if I wanted to leave a tip.....for a massage that I was supposed to get 1 hour but only got 30 minutes...Horrible customer service...No offer of hey we can fit you into another 30 minute slot on another day or time....just oh well too bad . we're sorry for you and still want you to be a member. So, I politely declined and let them know that had they actually treated me like a valued potential customer, my wife and I would have loved to purchase a membership....see I have Multiple Sclerosis and am a 100% disabled veteran and I can benefit from this...but there are tons of massage places and plenty of Groupons to try them out. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I WOULD NOT SPEND ANOTHER DIME WITH THEM....Not to mention a 2 hour cancellation window when they have a sign that says they accept walk-ins???? My husband and I been going there since they open. We had accounting problems at the being when we signed up but the owner was very helpful throughout the issue. This should of been a heads up for us.There service has been going down hill since then. The service I received yesterday was uncalled for especially when it was there mistake on there end. My husband and I enjoyed going together and we always set up in the couples room we even put in our file always book in couples room since they made this mistake few other times, of not booking it the correct way. We even have them repeat the appointment back to us so we know it was set up correctly over the phone. Because mistakes do happens. We get there yesterday and of course this mistake happen again. I asked how this could happen when I take extra steps for this not to happen. The person at the desk was very rude and said you can rebook or go in separate rooms thats all we can do. NO I'm sorry about the mistake. We had 11/2hr set up I told her we are only going to do an 1hr, she did agree to this but my therapist Erica was not happy with the change of only an 1hr. DO NOT use this therapist Erica had an attitude soon as we went back to the room. Never said sorry about the mistake in the scheduling, explain what area I needed working on and focus on my back 45mins then the rest of the time on the legs. So Erica started on back then for a few mins. then went to legs then back then legs I asked why she hoping back and forth when I asked to focus more on my back. She said I will focus more there but this never happen. When I was done and went out to desk to check out same person asked how was the massage I said awful she asked would you like to leave a tip (NO sorry to hear that), WHAT the enter service was awful and you want me to leave a tip. She said thats the right thing to do. I had to leave right then and my husband finished checking out and she had the gall to ask him would you like to leave a tip. I signed up with this company and they were charging my credit card monthly. I decided I did not want to use it any more and just wanted to use the balance of my hours and was told I have to show up in person to to cancel the account. They have since suspended my account after I stopped new payments even though they already charged my credit card approximately $220 of unused massage time. So basically they only way I can cancel is to provide them a new credit card so they can charge me again. But the point is I am trying to CANCEL the contact, and simply want to use what I already paid for. Why should I give you my credit card info again? What a sham.. Basically, they are stealing $220 from me. This is one of the shadiest and unethical businesses I have ever dealt with. Please stay away from them so you don't have the same issues that I experienced. I tried calling corporate but could not get a hold of any person to talk. The management is nasty even though the massage therapists are nice...I would not promote that business !!!! I would run, not walk from this place! I have been a member since July 2014. I also received the high pressure sales pitch for the monthly membership and agreed to it. After 12 months, I had used the service only twice and paid over $780 in fees. I called on July 25th about canceling my membership since I was rarely able to use it. I was told I had a great option....to "freeze" the account for only $5 per month. I was advised I could then use up my credits (credit = 1 hr massage) and even the $5 would go to future membership fees. Wow, a no-brainer! I went in around the 28th or so, received a message (the third one in 13 months) and signed the paperwork for the freeze. No problem up to this point... This evening I made an appointment to go in and use some of my existing 10 credits. I was greeted with the indication my account would need to be taken off freeze and a credit card was needed for the reinstatement fee of $58. I advised I was told the credits would be good and I would not incur any additional membership fees. I further asked why I would pay for an 11th massage when I cannot get to the original ten and my original membership fee would take me through August 23rd. I was advised that was the way the membership and/or "freeze" works. I told the young lady to cancel my massage and cancel my membership in its entirety. She stated I would lose all of my credits. ***Before you visit, and especially before you agree to a membership, think about what my massages cost me. It cost me around $780 for three. Over $250 each (before tip)! I had to forfeit over $600 in massages. I am so angry and disappointed, words cannot express it!*** read more

I decided to try this location out yesterday evening. I'm so glad I did! The young ladies working at the front desk were amazing at scheduling me in and keeping me informed of programs and promotions. Their professionalism set the tone for my entire visit. My therapist was extraordinary! She listened and took careful attention. Fantastic experience! I'm very happy to have signed up for a membership. Truly a great value!! The ambiance is perfect and exactly what you would want in a massage facility. Definitely try this place out! read more

I had sciatic nerve pain and could barely walk going in. The massage was good, and I had zero pain walking to the front. I also did the hydro-massage bed for 15 minutes. Wow! I need to get one of those! Overall, a great experience with friendly staff and top notch facility. I would recommend the experience to anyone. Be sure to drink lots of water! read more
