I'm giving a three star rating only because the massage I received was wonderful, thank you Lance. Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was not quite so relaxing. I received a MassageLuxe gift card for Christmas, and a few weeks later decided to use it because I had hurt my neck at the gym, and I thought a massage would be the perfect solution. It was, but it was after the massage that the real fun began. As other reviewers have stated, before I could get out the door they gave me the membership sales pitch. I have to admit it sounded like a great deal, and since I have trouble saying no (I'm working on that) I signed the agreement, paid the initial "now or never" payment, and made an appointment for my next massage. On the way home, I started thinking about it, and by the time I got home I'd changed my mind. I like massages, but it's not something I do on a regular basis so there's really no reason for me to make monthly payments for a service I probably won't use. Because of my aforementioned assertiveness issues, I had my husband call to request that my membership be canceled. He was told that I would have to come back to the club that same day. He told them that I wouldn't be able to return that day but would be in the following day. We didn't think it would be an issue because according to Florida law, you have three days to cancel any contract or agreement for future services. The next morning, less than 24 hours after I signed the agreement, I returned to the club to cancel my membership. They refused, even though I cited the Florida law regarding the cancellation of contracts. Their response was "It's not a contract." (Huh?) To make a very long story short, after several more unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue myself, both in person and in writing, I contacted the Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Agency, who confirmed that I should have been able to cancel my membership within the first three days. They wrote a letter to MassageLuxe, who finally agreed to cancel my membership and not charge my card on the next billing date. They made a huge point of the fact that I had agreed to all of their terms of membership, but didn't mention the fact that they were in violation of Florida law by not having the three-day cancellation clause in writing on their agreement form. So the main purpose of this dissertation is to warn you not to sign anything if you're not 100% sure that you want to pay monthly for massage services. You can cancel after the second billing cycle, but if you do sign up and then change your mind and want to cancel, be sure to do it on the same day or you'll be facing the same battle that I faced. Very unhappy with my experiences with my local franchise. After partially redeeming a gift certificate I received for the holidays, I was hit with an unbelievably hard sell for a membership. I explained I did not want a membership, but somehow was convinced to convert the balance on my card to a "temporary" membership, which give me two additional services, one for an hour and then an hour and a half. I went for the hour massage, no problem. Today I was scheduled for the hour and a half and was only given an hour massage, then told I could pay an additional $22 to get my last half hour. This is a terrible way to do business and I feel like the intentions of this location are not the best. I will say the therapists were fine, it's the front desk and ownership that is suspect. I want to warn other potential clients of the hard sell and deception. read more

I have been frequenting this massage business for a couple of years. Yesterday, I went to make an appointment and was told I was flagged. I didn't understand what that meant and explained that I had a massage luxe card with money on it. They told me I would have to take it to another massage luxe because I wasn't allowed to get anymore services. The girl practically hung up on me so I went to the business. I asked them to give me in cash the balance that was on the card. They told me that I could use it for services or products. I explained that they told me I was flagged and couldn't use the card. They told me I had to go to another massage luxe but not the one on Westchase because I was flagged there as well. Apparently both businesses are owned by the same person. I finally got from them why I was flagged. At the Westchase business I went for a facial and brought a friend for a massage. He did not have an ID. I ask them to let me change his to a later time they kept saying. No that is not our policy. The girl would not work with me and took great delight on saying it is not our policy. I ended up having to pay for his massage anyway and I got my facial. I wasn't happy but sucked it up that I was out the money. No manager ever called me and nothing else was ever said. I got my facial tipped the girl well and went on about my business. I vowed to not go back to the Westchase place again. I had no idea that the one in Lutz was also owned by the same person. I see from the other reviews that these two Massage Luxe have much worse ratings then the other Massage Luxe locations. This is definitely a owner/manager situation. No people skills and they care nothing except for the bottom dollar. These places don't generally make it. read more

Beautiful atmosphere at first glance, but the session was not to my satisfaction and when I made a simple critique to the front desk, they responded by pushing the membership. I understand the business end, but address the issues from a potential client instead of pushing your own agenda - sales. I will take my business across the street to Massage Envy. read more

Ericka is the BEST massage therapist I have ever known. I've been going to her for 3 years. She is extremely knowledgeable about how the body is connected. She is constantly taking courses to improve her knowledge. For instance, if I say my neck hurts, she fixes me by working on other parts of my body. When I leave I actually feel Restored, aligned and in harmony again. I drive 25 minutes one way to have her massage me. Ericka the BEST!!! read more

Worst experience ever.Scam Alert!I was a member and cancelled my membership due to lack of professionalism and inhuman treatment.They tricked you into buying a membership for 1 hour massage but it was never a full hour,they penalize you when you run few minutes late but they never start on time thefore you never get the full hour they advertise. I was given a gift card and made a huge mistake going back to the Van Dyke location. I asked the front attendant if they were taking walk ins and she said yes that they had one open spot at 4pm so I took it.I informed her I wanted to used my gift card and right away she wanted to charge me $74 for 1 hour I told her that it was supposed to be covered by the gift card was for 1hour I even had to show her the receipt and the advertise that was the special so she told me It was ok.When I came back the other attendant that happened to be the manager Malinda refuse to honor the 1 Hour gift card stating she it was for first time users so I ask for the money back since she was so cold ,unprofessional and very unqualified to be a manager and I was so angry and disappointed and she also refuse to return the money and on top was trying to charge me for cancelling appointment even though it was a walk in! What a rip off! she did not even check with the other attendant after talking back and forth she even call me a lier because I gave her my home phone number and she misspelled my name she could not find me on the system so I am a lier. what a way to treat customer! I will take the time and report this to the Consumer Protection Agency if I did not get the service I want my money back and they are refusing to returned it. DONT GO TO THIS OFFICE THEY ARE RUDE PEOPLE!! My husband had an appointment scheduled. the aesthetician was running 45 minutes late. So he said he would call back to reschedule. Called back a couple of weeks later, they put him on hold then got on the phone and said "sorry we cant book you an appointment" and hung up! I don't know whats wrong with these people up there but they are Rude and I will never refer them to anyone. This was not the first time they were rude to us. Let's start out with the fact that this is a scam. They just want you to sign up for a membership. They basically won't let you leave until you agree to it. I would never recommend this place. They suckered my husband into it and I had to go back in and cancel. They didn't just nicely agree to what I had to say, the girl actually argued with me about what my husband said!! Seriously, no customer service, on top of hustling people! What a stand up place! Absolutely ridiculous! Obviously we will never go back and will never recommend them. About half of the massages I've had there have been good but I've found a couple really good masseuse's and that ratio is getting better. I've been a loyal customer there for 3 years but hadn't had the time to use my hours and accumulated 14.5 credits. I called to put my account on hold so I could catch up but the manager (Melinda) said I wouldn't be able to use my hours if my account is suspended... even though I already paid for the time. I asked if they could make an exception but she said " sorry but that's the corporate policy" and "it's stated in the contract". I asked if I could give my hours away and she said "yes, but it costs $20 to do that". Seems crazy to charge me 30% to give them away when I already paid $60! They're essentially holding me hostage. I called corporate to see if they could work with me and left a message but nobody returned my call. Horrible customer service and certainly doesn't make me feel valued. Love this place, excellent massage therapists, beautiful atmosphere. I always leave happy and relaxed. For those knocking their "sales tactics" for a membership, this is the business model of their company (no different than Massage Envy - I've been a member there too). If you want a once and done massage, go to a spa; you enjoy the advantages of this locale to the fullest by becoming a member. I know it's not for everyone, but don't criticize a business for following their business model. read more

At first I thought WOW this is nice, then I called into the shop to ask some questions when I said I didnt agree with what they were stating they then stated to me then terminate your contract. Then when I asked to speak with the manager and she came on the line, after speaking with her I asked for her name and she would not give me but her first name and not the last. If someone who is a manager can not give out her last name I feel very uneasy feeling about this place. I will use my 2 massages and then get the heck out. read more

I am a fan, my massage therapist has been there for a year. I like that I can cancel at any time, unlike massage envy. The quality of services has been excellent, I always feel pampered and appreciated. I did not feel a hard sell when I joined, but maybe because I was impressed and wanted to join. read more

Let me start by saying I had a membership at this location last year & closed it after about 6 months because the value was simply not justified by the cost. You can get better deals on massages through other places as well as things like Groupon, which leads me to this review. I scheduled my appt. for a massage using a Groupon I bought last year for this place. I called to make this appt. a few weeks in advance with a therapist that was specifically recommended by the girl I was on the phone with scheduling my appt. (I am very particular about therapists as I have experienced a number of not so great therapists, including a couple at this location when I had my membership!). The day before my appt. they called to confirm my appt. day/time, not who I was scheduled with. When I arrived for my appt. the massage therapist I was scheduled with came into the waiting room & introduced herself to another customer who was also waiting for his appt. & they walked out of the room. Moments later a different therapist walked into the room & introduced herself to me as if she was my therapist. I told her I had an appt. with the girl who just took the other customer. She had a manager come into the waiting room & the manager told me the therapist I was scheduled with was not available & that she wasn't available when I scheduled my appt. I told her if there a problem with who I was scheduled with they should have called me in advance because I would have changed my appt. Plus, I clearly had had a conversation specifically about this therapist with the person making my appt. on the phone weeks ago and she was the one who highly recommended her to me. The manager said they have many good therapists & that she was confident I would be happy with who my appt. was with. Hello...that's not the point! My appt. was for a specific therapist and they changed it without informing me ahead of time & that is not good customer service. Unfortunately, due to my schedule (& the fact I planned my massage that morning, which was on my day off) I went ahead & got the massage & got out of there. I would not recommend going to this location...can't speak for other franchise locations but I would not spend my money in this one! read more

I had a bad experience with the front desk and manager. I scheduled an appointment for a massage at 6:00pm for the following morning at 9:00am. I called at 8:32am to see if I could move the appointment back to 11:00 because of a family emergency. I am being charged for the full appointment because I did not provide 2 hour notice, granted they open at 8:00am. No way could I have provided 2 hour notice if I had wanted to. I have never scheduled an appt. in the past, always call last minute and they ALWAYS have openings. As a matter of fact the therapist I wanted to see had openings from 9:00-2:00pm for today. I will be cancelling my membership because of this. I wanted to cancel it on the spot after being told they were going to charge me for the FULL massage, even though I asked to come in the same day 2 hours later, so basically I just wanted to reschedule my appointment. Of course you have to come in and fill out paperwork in order to cancel your membership. I guess they are not up to speed with technology or just want to make it difficult to cancel your membership. Poor business practice to be so inflexible on your company policy. I completely understand if you are 100% booked and you have a cancellation, but a request to reschedule on the same day for a client who has been coming in for several years, when you are NOT booked. A rescheduling fee would have been more appropriate. Lost my business. read more

I have been a member for over a year and have referred a few people who also became monthly members. I get a massage at least once monthly and have gotten a hand full of facials as well. The place is very clean. The majority of the massages have been above average, with a few being just okay. Unfortunately today i had a bad experience and will be canceling my account. I received a great massage and a terrible facial. I purchased the same facial i have gotten in the past, but it was very different. Usually there are about ten steps in my facial, but today only four with time in between with nothing happening. Besides that I got product in my eye, oil in my hair and ear, and finished with oil all over my face. (I couldn't wait to go home and wash my face!) I left today feeling like I wasted a good amount of money and was very unhappy with the result. I called to explain my experience and I was placed on with the general manager. Her response was "you went to the esthetician I use and I love her. A lot of people request her." I would have been much happier with a simple "I'm sorry," or even if she took the time to ask what was not satisfactory about the facial. Instead she was completely dismissive and continued on with how amazing the lady is. It's not like this is my first time to this salon no less with this same facial. I thought that response was rude and will not be giving them my business any longer. read more
