Found this massage place through yelp and got set up with Josh as my massage therapist. I'm a VERY ticklish person and when talking to Josh and finding that his preferred technique was pressure point, my heart sank cause typically that's the worst type of massage for me. Luckily, as we communicated through the massage (my choice as it helps me feel more comfortable with the person who's working with me) I learned that his influence is rooted in eastern massage and he made plenty of adjustments to make sure he was effective for me. He ended up using hot stones and checking in often with amount of pressure and comfort and eventually moved onto have a really great neck, and shoulder massage. I wish he spent more time there overall but I'd come back to see if I could get a repeat of the experience. Will probably book again once I figure out a schedule that works for me. Bonus: he also showed me 3 different stretches I could do at home to continue the benefits. read more

Massage Matters had massage techs come to my company's wellness fair, and I found a great masseuse! The biggest selling point was when the employee told me I could use my HSA card there. Mind blown! Yes, it is more expensive here than some other places unless you have a membership, however, when you take into consideration that the money you're using was pre-tax, that makes it like 30% off! I finally had my massage about a week ago, and it was very relaxing, and the massage tech really focused on the areas that I was sore, as requested. She even had some great tips for me, for between massages. The facility was also clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was pleasant, and they have tap to pay (no need to carry your HSA card with you), and you can even add tip to your card. Definitely will be coming back again! read more

Everyone here is very nice and respectful however if you are needing a focused massage for a specific injury/trigger point you will waste your time and money coming here. I have had numerous massages here and each time I explain the specific area that I have an issue with and that I want to soley focus on that and each time they focus maybe 5 mins there with no real technique to resolve the issue within the muscle and spend more time elsewhere. I came back today as my other place had no openings and decided to give it another try. I explained that my issue was from an injury two weeks ago where I strained my QL and asked for focus on the L side of my low back. The focus that was put there had zero technique in, not one time did she attempt to even find the muscle issue and work on it and rather spend majority of the time on my upper back neck and arms despite me saying I wanted only low back. For a relaxing massage this place is fine but if you need to actually feel better and not waste your time and money, go elsewhere. read more

I normally never write public reviews, so for those reading this please pay attention and avoid supporting this business due to their management/front desk staff. For context I started going to this studio back in February 2022 and started 2 massage matters wellness programs for my partner and I pausing between September-December 2022. A base massage matters wellness program allows for a 50-minute massage for each person. I restarted my monthly membership back in December 2022. An appointment was booked for the both of us on Friday January 13th 2023 back in December 2022 when I re-started the wellness program for my partner and I. Due to scheduling issues I called on Thursday January 12th to rebook the January the 13th date to January 18th. The attendant told me since it was 24 hours before the Friday the 13th date that no late fee would be charged and my 2 80-minute massages on Friday the 13th would be booked on Wednesday the 18th. Context that will be important later, the 80-minute massages were booked several days later due to the availability for two simultaneous 80-minute massages from the therapists Steven and Joseph. On Saturday the 14th evening I get a call that I'm being charged $119.00 for a late fee and $30 (still not sure why this was charged) for missing our Saturday the 14th appointments! I'm absolutely flabbergasted as to why I have an appointment two days in a row for their monthly wellness program that only allows you to get one monthly massage per account. After some back and forth between front desk and the management that night I was told that there was a mistake in the booking from the front desk and that I would be refunded on the card. At this point I think the issue is resolved and both my partner and I go to our Wednesday 80-minute massages that were rescheduled to have the specific therapists Joseph and Steven. When I go there it turns out that the appointment was booked for two 50-minute massages with the therapists Joseph and Kam. (See screenshots for confirmed appointment time and receipt of a 50 minute massage) I am disappointed and the front desk can only apologize for the misbooking. Today January 19th 2023 I check my card for the charges for the 50-minute massages just to confirm it was charged instead of the 80-minute massages. I find out that the charge from Saturday's missed appointments were still on the card and call in the front desk. Apparently, I will not be getting a refund as promised by management on the card. A "cash" refund is being given instead. I go ahead and ask the attendant if this "cash" refund can be used to my monthly massage wellness massages and she says no, they can only be used for add-on purposes (extra tools used in massages, extra massages for the month, etc.). At this point I ask for an explanation of why this is the case because I'm exhausted from the deceit of the management and the front desk attendant rudely states that she will send over a massage matters wellness program cancellation request form. To sum it up: X I was double booked January the 13th and January the 14th for a wellness program that only allows for one massage every month (Why did the attendant that booked us in December book us two days in a row ??) XI was charged $119+$30 for the late fee of not showing up to a forced double booking on January the 14th X Management's answer was to give a full refund on the card that was promised by the attendant on January the 14th X I rescheduled my 2 80-minute massages on January the 13th for January the 18th but got 2 50-minute massages with the wrong therapists (Joseph and Steven were promised but it was Joseph and Kam) X I'm still being charged for the forced double-booking on January the 14th but have been given a "cash refund" instead as compensation which can't even be used for the monthly massage matters wellness massages. If you support fraudulent businesses and shady management then be my guest and go to this location. Prepare to be double booked for no reason, in addition to not keeping appointment times and promises. read more

Back in 2015 - I had a massage in Maui that my wife and I paid huge bucks for and went back twice. The outdoor experience, authenticity, warm 80+ degree weather in the shade with a traditional lomi lomi massage made it incredible... This massage here in Irvine was the first time I left a massage place and had the same incredible feeling as I did then. A 110 minute birthday massage - it was not cheap but you pay for what you get. Beautiful set up, high end look. The massage tables are very comfortable and warm up while you lay down there. The blankets that cover you are heavy which is always a bonus (especially as a guy who is fully disrobed). The price is higher than I would want if I am going there regularly but its great for special occasions. Masseuse was very professional. A little bummed she didn't get the glutes and appeared to be very shy in that region - look I am there for a massage not a happy time. Its part of the gig. As long as you are professional so am I. They clean the tables of course between clients. The staff were super nice and assisted with everything from the choosing of aromatherapy and also using the CBD oil for the massage itself. Every therapist I have worked with has been awesome and resolved the issues I had gone in for. Went in for the Valentines promotion they had going with my fiancé. We got 2-50 min massages for $210. I didn't know they didn't have a couples room since they were promoting couple massages until they called me in first and I asked what about my fiancé and then the girl said oh we don't have couple rooms sorry no one told you, felt like that kind of defeats the purpose of a "couples massage" but we still continued on with it. They called me in before him. When I came out he said he had been waiting about 10 mins or so for me and had got called in 5 or so mins after me. Which meant that his 50 min massage was more like a 35-40 min massage and he said at the end it felt rushed and like he was just getting lotion put on his back. When we went up to pay they asked how the massages went. I said mine was good, he said his wasn't and it was short and rushed and the front desk girl said "oh you didn't like it" and he said no and she didn't say anything more. We paid and left. Freezing your account (if you have any unused credits on your account) prevents you from using them as soon as your account is frozen!! WTF!!!! So this company can auto bill me and take my money, but as soon as I ask to stop being billed, they tell me any prepaid months cannot be used????????? WHO TF OPERATES LIKE THIS ANYMORE? Canceling your membership will allow you to use your credit balances but ONLY WITHIN A 30 DAY PERIOD!! And you must give them a 30 day notice to cancel!!!! Again, no other membership service has this 30 day rule except gyms and apartment complexes and rental agreements. So, they want to bill you for another month (if you don't give them a 30 day notice) and then force you to use up your credits with 30 days. I currently work for a membership based health/spa like service company and we do not operate like this!!! When a member calls or requests to cancel their monthly billing/payments, we cancel them immediately and never tell them they cannot use their services/credits they had accumulated.... I am so irritated with Massage Matters for this ABSURD policy.....they need to really think about this and treat their customers with more respect and grace in terms of how and when we would like to cancel/freeze.....they just lost me from ever returning as a member. read more

In one session, Ileana relieved near-constant pain and tightness that I have been having in my neck and right shoulder for months. The neck pain was so bad I had a migraine that lasted four days straight before I went to see Ileana for the first time. After one session with her, my pain completely subsided for at least a week, and I am so incredibly grateful to her for the relief. My boyfriend booked a couple massage for us here for Valentines and he's been coming back because he really liked this massage therapist. He is an active athlete and has been incurring some injuries and Alexis has been helping him a great deal. I went to see her after I injured myself doing chest press and pull-ups and all I can say was, my boyfriend was right! I really like Alexis. She is very knowledge, nice, and professional. She gave me an overall evaluation before we started and after only one session with her, I can feel my many many knots spread all over my body are on their way of recovery. I found out from her many places I should've been paying more attention to that I never knew I need to massage it either. My body is hot all over after the massage. She was able to help me turn my head!! I wasn't able to turn my head left or right properly before the massage. Needless to say, I will be a regular here to see Alexis. Quick Review: Wife and I came to Massage Matters for the first time and had an amazing experience. We've done other massage therapies before and after we started our sessions, we knew the therapsists knew what they were doing! My wife had Tiffany, whom she said was very attentive and understood her needs after a brief consultation. She focused on her neck and shoulder area that had a lot of built up tension. Tiffany was able to help alleviate the pain she was experiencing. Sparknotes Review: Tiffany is an amazing massage therapist and everyone should consider as their main therapist. She's the main reason I come to Massage Matters! Detailed Review: About a year ago I developed carpal tunnel and a lot of inflammation in my hands, my thumbs in particular. I've been seeing Tiffany for about 8 months now, and she has given me really specialized massage treatment on my hands in particular to help combat all the inflammation. She is passionate about her work and always learning about different techniques to be a more well rounded therapist 3. She's a people person in a people business -Consistency In the 10+ times I have seen Tiffany, I feel as if I get the same quality massage each and every time. There is no difference in the level of effort or care she provided. The consistency is something I think really stands out if you're looking for a long term therapist to help with nagging issues. -Passion and Drive for Learning One thing that really surprised me is that over the course of the past 8 months, she has started to apply new techniques throughout our sessions. I had my first session today at Massage Matters. My massage therapist was Miranda. First, the facility is spotless, exhibiting professionalism throughout. Second, my greeting experience with Miranda was also professional, warm and respectful. Then, once in the treatment room, Miranda interviewed me. Based on the session that followed it was clear she had paid really close attention. I had selected the 110 minute session because I wanted her to have sufficient time to work. But it's important to say that I don't expect miracles in a single session. I presented with a number of issues, with shoulder issues being predominant. We made progress... which thrills me. I had selected a 'Restorative Session' because at my age (71) I need quite a bit of restoration work done. Aging, as it turns out, is a terminal illness... but this session reminded me that well-done self care can be deeply beneficial at any age. I was a bit taken aback, in a really good way, at Miranda's precision and clearly sensitive finesse, in particular when she worked trigger points... not just in hitting the right spots but also the 'angle of attack' - if that make sense. And also, as she herself pointed out, "I really enjoy the detective aspect of this work... tracking things down." I'm glad you do too, Miranda. My only disappointment is that membership prices were raised while taking away two really nice perks the place had which was cbd massage oil that came with membership and gatorade. Also their website is never updated with their current massage therapist's profiles so its hard to know or remember who you're getting. This is a response to the management response- When 'claimed' it is hard to remember which therapist you're getting, I understand I can call and ask their name, however, if ive been going for many months and see a different person everytime.
