Had a massage at this location for the first time. Booked with Byron. Super friendly. He listened to my needs and adjusted accordingly. I enjoyed my time at massage heights. They were really accommodating and I appreciated they accommodated me even though I was a walk in appointment. I know this might not always be the case depending on if an esthetician or masseuse is free. I got a 60 minute facial from Nycole and it was extremely relaxing. They ask before hand about any allergies or any skin conditions you want to work through. Mine focused on clogged pores. I did notice how much my skin glew the next day. It was so relaxing I definitely nodded off for a couple minutes throughout the facial. The only thing I would mention was that the rates for the first time was reasonable, when you beyond the introductory rate, the cost of every service doubles unless you get the membership. I wish the costs were disclosed more openly online. read more

Hands-down, the best massage height in the city! Carlos is the best masseuse ever and Brianna is a very knowledgeable aesthetician!! I have standing appointments with them both! Update: finally spoke to manager, Tam/Tamara, today (2 months later) who has been aware of her therapist dislocating my shoulder and she has done little to nothing to follow-up. She called while I was likely at work, didn't leave a message, and never followed up again. She is refusing to refund services or cover the cost of doctor appt/physical therapy for the injury caused by the therapist at the facility she manages. The only offering is another massage at the same facility that dislocated my shoulder the first time- at a membership rate. (Why would I want to go through that again- and give them more of my money for it?) Tam only offered the option of filing a complaint with the Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulation (which I'm sure she knows will take time for me to reach the top of the queue). The complete lack of customer service is abhorrent and tacky beyond belief. Do not patronize this business. (Yelp need to finally make 0 stars an option.) read more

First time here! Location: in River Oaks, Target plaza next door to a martial arts place across the street from Goodwill. Lots of parking on a weekday night. Calming interior with soft music playing and it was definitely very clean, including the restrooms. Appointment: my boyfriend and I made last minute appointments for a massage the day of, it was super easy online. The online process asks you what kind of massage you're looking for and whether you'd like it medium, firm etc. Checking in: front desk was super kind, check in was smooth. We had to answer a couple questions on an iPad about what we're looking for and parts of the body we'd like the masseuse to focus on. I had Pam: she really really dug into those knots of mine, and I knew I was going to be sore the next day but it was going to be worth it. She did chat a bit during the massage which personally I don't mind, but I know that there are people that prefer silence and to sleep during their massages. She asked a lot of questions, though, that did help her with figuring out where I needed extra pressure, and what spots I needed extra attention on. My boyfriend had Paul: this was my boyfriend's first time getting a male masseuse and in his words, he said that he would be getting males from now on simply because men have larger hands, can cover more surface area and are stronger. Guess next time I'll have to try getting a male masseuse as well! haha. Price: Price was about the same as everywhere else in downtown Houston, so I wasn't super surprised. I paid upfront before the massage when booking online, so after we were done, we just left a tip and were ready to leave. Will definitely be back when we're in the Houston area again, and maybe even try out another location closer to our place (Woodlands or Spring!) read more

I would suggest you read the fine print before signing up for a membership. During enrollment they were not clear that you do couldn't cancel the 12 month membership at any time. Either you wait it out or pay the whole months upfront in order to break loose from them. Disappointed and unsatisfied. read more

Unfortunately the worst massage parlor I've visited in Houston. Their prices are unjustly about 45% higher than most massage places; $100 for an hour whereas $60-$75 is far more typical. They ask which areas you want focused on and which areas you want avoided and then totally disregard what you said. I told them 3 times that I want focus on my neck and shoulders and no massage whatsoever on my lower body. So what do I get? The complete opposite. I don't know why they ask what you want if they completely ignore it. The room was completely dark with zero music or anything for ambience. The massage was giving me very amateur vibes, it just didn't feel good or like it was helping my body at all. The staff were friendly people but I do not feel like this was money well spent. Also, my massage began at 1:12 and she said my time was up and ran out of the room at 2:05. This was supposed to be a 60 minute massage with an add on so really just not a good value for the money. To top it all off the bathrooms had NO paper towels/hand towels whatsoever and the faucet was filthy. It looked like a frat house sink. In an environment that is supposed to center on relaxation and pampering, how do you not have any means to dry your hands? I'd be ashamed to have company over if my bathroom at home was in that state; to subject customers to it is disgraceful. Would not recommend read more

WARNING*** Do not sign up for membership. My contract ended in January and they're still billing me. I have spoken to the front desk multiple times with no resolution. I finally sent an email for a paper trail and nothing. I called the desk today and was treated poorly. I just kept being told "Ok love, we'll look into it" but nothing. I do not have the time to keep calling. Massages are subpar at best. Last girl sat and pushed me on the table so she could roll around in chair. Like literally pushed my whole massage table. I really hate to complain and I could see them billing an extra month accidentally but this is a little too much ***Update*** After I cancelled my membership they canceled my 3 hour credit which is not the rule. I should have 90 days to use which was my intention, BUT at a different location. I will never return to River Oaks Massage Heights. After they fraudulent drafted from my account for months they then cancelled 3 hours which I had already paid for without my consent. they mentioned that I stated they're "useless" which they are at that location but they robbed me of the ability to use at the other Massage Heights locations. Pure theft! The manager continued to blame me and acted like I am unreasonable. I did record conversation. I've notice other people have encountered fraud at this location. any advice on next steps would be appreciated. I signed a contract, came home and decided I no longer wanted the membership. They told me I could cancel if I showed proof I lived 25miles away with my ID. After doing so, they determined I could go to any facility and did not cancel my membership. It's not really about the membership; it's really them giving me the run around. From the "write an email", to "call back for the manager", to "oh she's not here at this time" to excuse after excuse. Don't trust this staff! I would never go back here again anyways because the massage was subpar and my face broke out after my facial. I was told to call back to the place I was stuck in a contract with, they told me to send my ID to show I live 25 miles from their location. When I did, they said "oh we meant, you must live 25 miles from every location. But we are all over Houston, so no. They are not honorable to their word. My massage therapist Bri was good, however the company's policy on cancellation of membership is very inconveniencing. You only have three days to cancel your membership (something that was not communicated at the time of signing). They charge $60 per month and you're only allowed to sign a 12 month contract-- something again not disclosed. I called to cancel my membership as my schedule did not allow me to get the value of the membership. I was told I'm locked into a 12 month contract and I would have to pay almost $300 to break it. Umm?? It's a massage place... it's not that serious. The manager insisted there's nothing she can do except change contract term to 6 months instead of 12 and that she's doing me a favor... again... it's a massage place.. ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS. If you are considering to sign up for membership please make sure you get all the information pertaining to cancelling. They do not disclose important information. Disappointed and frankly very annoyed. They will not be getting my business. read more

Gosh. Hate to leave a not so awesome review but here it is. First. The place was very clean and they got me in quickly. Now for the rest. For the first time I realize you must come in with full knowledge of what you want or you will get anything. The receptionist was friendly but a bit loud and check in should NOT be for everyone to hear. I felt uncomfortable answering some questions in the general area. Why can't I fill out my own form? This had less of a spa feel and more like welcome to happy hour can I start you with shots. Great personality. Wrong spot. I think the pillow was old in that I felt the metal in the face pad. My therapist may have been new. Asked for medium pressure and no feet and they were rough and fast and the body transitions were quick and felt impatient. And they must have been mad at my feet because she ignored my request totally. When they were done they said that's your time good bye and walked out. Didn't offer water nor did I see them again. Was it me??? Was I on a reality show??? At check out I got the hard sales pitch which is not the way you want to end your time. Sorry Pkastors, I can't recommend this location today. #Pkast read more

Don't go here. You will not be able to cancel your account. I have been trying to cancel my account for 4 months. I have called 6 times. I was told to call back in a specific date so I could cancel. Now I have been charged again! I call and am told that my account was not cancelled. I am livid and I cannot only hope that my experience keeps you from engaging with the predatory business. It is critical to read the details of your contract. The contract is the only way to get a reasonable rate. My issue is that after I signed my contract, I had trouble getting in when I wanted to and therefore didn't use the monthly credit I was accruing. Massages are not really conducive to booking far in advance for me because I do not have chronic pain. You kind of want them when you need them. The credits then expire 90 days after you cancel the 12 month contract which was something that was not verbally properly disclosed when I signed or when I cancelled. I do recall asking that precise question when I signed and when I cancelled and front desk told me that would not be the case. It was in the written contract, however. That is my fault for not reading it well. I had 10 hours of accrued time that I was told expired. When I complained of not being able to use the services I paid for, Tam (manager) allowed me to activate my membership for another month at cost of $100 to be able to access the 10 hours of credits for a 6 month period. Unfortunately I had to pay more to access credits I already paid for and now have to use 10 hours in 6 months. That is a lot when considering it's hard to get in when you need but I will probably just try to layer in other services when I go to use the credits. Tam tried to help to extent that she was able which I greatly appreciated but the contract is not customer friendly and customer experience was not great because of it (hence 3 stars and not 1). This isn't Tam's fault. She appeared to do what she could and I give her that credit for managing a very frustrated customer well. Customer experience should be number 1 for them and that provision in the contract is absolutely not customer friendly. It basically puts you on a treadmill of massage services and is complicated for the average person that just wants a market rate massage. Business point. I see why Massage Heights without a lot of thought could think a contract provision like that could be beneficial to them if customers do not use the services or they expire (and the customer does not complain like me). However, it's short-sighted. They will just lose customers they had to pay to acquire. They should focus on the customer experience and everything else will fall in place. This resolution sounds like it was driven by a computer system issue but I see no benefit to Massage Heights forcing me to have to expedite the use of credits I've paid for to fit a certain timeline. Either way they have to pay the employees based on the services. In fact, it's better for them if I use them over a long period of time since it's essentially free financing for them. If they allowed customers to use the credit they pay for over any amount of time, (1) customer is happier thus (2) business is more profitable. I would also have been more inclined to sign another membership once I used my accrued services as I intended to do before I learned of all this credit expiration stuff. The expedited services does not make me spend more money there. It just makes me use what I have in credit for services quickly (and when I don't need them) and makes me sure of a decision to not go through this complicated stuff again. I can just text the massage guy that comes to my house for the same price. No contract. No expiration. Easy. No read more

Update: I've spoken at length with Jasmine, Massage Heights River Oaks' new manager, and received some helpful info to share. First, she was not yet managing this location last December when the unfortunate massage and service occurred. She assured me they would have handled it differently, and I believe her. Second, she offered to extend my credits until the end of the year without prompting, and recommended several therapists who would be better suited to my needs. I hope to go in soon to give her recommendation a try. Until then, it was important to note how swiftly, professionally and empathetically Jasmine handled my situation. I greatly appreciate it. _________ Let's talk about membership. I should have listened to the alarm bells / red flags I experienced when agreeing to a monthly membership from a corporation. I was going in for a massage just before Christmas 2016. Before my appointment, I got the full spiel about all the soothing benefits associated with paying regularly to receive one massage a month. I mentioned that my constant work hours would not allow for appointments every 30 days, and was reassured that unused credits roll over month to month. Given my schedule, this was the selling point. Then, the massage. I was there to address recent, borderline severe neck pain. Should I have forgone any sort of pressure at that time? Probably, but I'm no expert. Instead, I explained the issue and asked for deep tissue. The result: three days of muscle spasms, a doctor's visit, and a very pricey x-ray. Needless to say, I did not want to return. When I called to explain what happened and request to cancel my membership, I was told that they had received complaints about this masseur before, and that I had to come in and break up with them in person--corporate policy and all. Work hours being what they are, I didn't make it in to cancel for 9 months. Now, that's not their fault; it's mine. And despite the fact that I was paying $59.99 each month for nothing, I clung to the notion that at least, when I finally canceled this thing once and for all, I would have 9 massage credits on my account to use (with a different therapist, of course) at my leisure. And herein lies the purpose behind this review, to tell you what they don't tell you: You only have 30 days to use the credits you paid for, for services you did not use, after you cancel. This is despite the fact that, upon cancellation, you will still be billed one more time in 30 days. Now, a corporation being a corporation, they don't care. There is zero flexibility with this policy. "You can freeze your account instead of cancel," they offered. I was interested, until "But you can't use your credits during that time." K, thanks. There is no option to share or gift these credits with another account, or receive the balance on a gift card. If I don't force 9 massages in 30 days' time, the roughly $500 I've paid in is simply gone with nothing to show for it. But maybe I'll save in the long run by avoiding painful injuries, doctor's visits and x-rays? The takeaway: -Listen to your gut. Specifically, don't allow yourself to get sold on regularly paying for something you feel you can't follow through with. -Don't get a deep tissue massage from a giant man when you're already in pain. It ain't gonna help. -Consider some nice independent massage places, the kind that value their customers and have the flexibility to make their own rules. -Save your $539.91 for something awesome, instead of dumping it down the Massage Heights toilet. In short, don't be like me, and you should be good to go. read more

Once again, another horrific experience with Massage Heights River Oaks in Houston. They egregiously over charge, play games about refunding the over charge, the owner lies about refunding the overcharges that never appear in your bank account, they will charge your credit card and notate it as a recurring charge so that the charge is made to your account monthly without your permission. After a good experience last year, I signed up for a monthly massage contract with the intent and hope that I would be able to use their services on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, with traveling, business and family obligations do not afford me the time to use the service I hoped for. For the last six (6) months I have been paying for this service without anyone foresight of when I would be able to use this service again. When I called in to explain that I have yet to use the service and did not want to continue the contract, then informed me that they would not offer me to get out of it unless I had a doctors note or lived 25 miles away from a facility. Their solution was to charge me a monthly "Pause" fee until I had the time to use my hours. I would have rather paid a cancellation fee nice and simply but they were uninterested and incapable of offering any kind of solution worthwhile. Additionally, they cannot convert my unused time to gift certificates when asked. (I can't use them so someone else should) I take responsibility for my part in this, but I am extremely disappointed in their lack of understanding and flexibility. It seems that their only interest in this situation was to nickel and dime me for the inconvenience I caused to them. My only solution is to continue to pay for this serviced that I can't use and don't want to continue paying for because this company does not have a realistic procedure to solve this problem. read more

I was roped in to signing a "month to month" contract with no warning it locked you in for 12 months. When they said "month to month," they meant it was charged monthly, and I'm pretty positive they said I could "cancel at any time" because that would have been the only reason I'd sign up. It appeared to be a great deal because I could cancel if I needed to! BUYER BEWARE. And here's the reason I want to cancel: On my second visit, they gave me a different therapist from the original one I had who was apparently just standing in that first visit (the first visit/massage therapist was terrific, by the way.) I asked the second massage therapist for a medium pressure massage, but she gave me a Deep Tissue despite me asking her multuple times to please stop pressing so hard and that she was hurting me. Within an hour of returning home, I had broken blood vessels on my back and a big a bruise, another bruise on my shoulder blade, and another forming on my other shoulder. I was so upset and in so much pain that I called the studio in tears. They didn't so much as apologize and simply said they'd give me someone else "next time" (they confirmed to me that the massage therapist knew I was supposed to have medium pressure.) No one could touch me for days. I've been trying to cancel my membership since March since I was under the impression that it was month to month and am now being told that I am held hostage to a 12-month agreement. There is no corporate oversight, either, so you can only interact with the specific facility when you have an issue. They said I can have another massage therapist from the "plethora" of ones they have - but why would I go back to a place that left me worse off and in more pain than before I went in? The photo quality isn't great, but I've attached an image of what my back looked like within an hour of leaving. You can see the popped blood vessels and the gigantic bruise underneath as well as the other bruises. The whole thing is a mess, and I'm incredibly frustrated that I'm being asked to pay an annual fee of $720 in credits that I'll never use. Also, annoyingly, they didn't let me back date my February credit, so I paid another $70 for an appointment in February. I assumed it was once a month, and it didn't matter which day in the month. May 22nd update: I just had it confirmed by the assistant manager that there IS A MONTH TO MONTH OPTION, so the manager, Jasmine, did a bait-and-switch on me. I knew I wasn't crazy. We had a verbal agreement of month to month, but she got me to sign the forms for the 12-month binding one. The whole thing is ridiculous. Avoid this place like the plague or, if you go, don't listen to a word the manager says. She will mislead you - my fault for listening to and trusting her and not studying the contract at length. Hopefully, one of the other locations will have better management and massage therapists who actually listen to their clients. Side note: The assistant manager, Akaila, is very nice and respectful. read more

By far the worst massage I have ever had. I have been to the Yale Street location and had a great experience. You would think it would be the same experience at any location, but I was wrong. The masseuse kept talking throughout the entire massage. There was absolutely no pressure to the therapy it felt like lotion was being rubbed on me when I asked for deep tissue. Additionally, my masseuse tried to stop the massage at 45 minutes when I paid for 60 min. I had to remind her the time we started and ask for her to continue through the time I paid for. When I was called the next day by their sales team, and asked to join the membership I explained how unhappy I was with my experience. I asked for a partial refund, but was offered a repeat massage at the introduction price I asked for a manager to call me back to speak with and never heard back. Very poor customer experience I will not be returning. Not worth $250 when I can go to a hotel spa for the same rate. read more
