When I asked why, the masseuse said she was just doing what her manager told her, and the front desk said the missing 10 minutes are meant for getting undressed and on the table. That doesn't make sense to me--I paid for a full hour, not 50 minutes of massage. I still tipped $40 because the massage with Dianna was decent, but I won't be coming back. I don't think it's fair to charge for time that isn't actually being used, and I wouldn't recommend spending your money here either. read more

Everyone I interacted with at this Massage Envy clinic was nice, however, I would be very weary about coming here for a facial--I know I won't be back returning for another one. While visiting from out of town, I decided to schedule a facial to help me unwind. I've always had pretty clear, unproblematic skin and I unfortunately ended up leaving with a pretty severe chemical burn all across my cheeks. I frequently get facials, do not have sensitive skin, have no skin allergies and I have NEVER had any kind of severe reaction from a facial or any skincare products--ever. After putting a product on my face halfway through my facial, I told my aesthetician it was burning. She asked me where on the pain scale I was, and I replied it was a 8. I assumed she'd take the product off immediately, but instead she told me that she'd massage my arms to distract me. I give presentations and host large events for my job, so I'm understandably upset about the state of my skin--and fear these burns will leave lasting scars. While the manager was kind enough to refund my service, this isn't enough when I may be dealing with lasting damage to my skin. It would have been nice to receive a gift card to purchase some of their skincare product to help reverse the damage left to my skin or get a massage ease the physical and emotional discomfort I'm feeling. With so many options for high quality facials in Tucson, I would skip Massage Envy. read more

First and last time going here, even though I have money left on a gift card to this location. I guess my first mistake was booking online, according to the lady at the front desk. I didn't add notes when I booked online, I was told I should have called to book because they will add notes. I was confused on this because I filled out information on areas I'd like to focus on and areas not to touch when I arrived for my appointment. I also confirmed with the massage therapist the specific areas I'd like to be focused on which included my lower back. She did not work on my lower back at all,didn't touch my back at all,even though she confirmed full body massage before she started. When I asked the front desk if I filled out the form wrong she said I didn't add notes when I booked online. Then got an attitude when I said I did not want to sign up for their monthly plan. The 60 minute massage I booked was 45 minutes of having lotion lightly rubbed on my shoulders and legs. Worst massage I've had and I wouldn't even call It a massage. read more

I had a wonderful massage and I felt so good after being so sore and tight it was exceptional. However, when I got to the front desk to check out the lady was extremely pushy and rude to get me to sign up for their membership mess. She kept telling me to step aside and call my spouse for permission to get the membership, I was so shocked and stressed out by the time I left there the massage did not serve its purpose. I may have gotten the membership if the damn woman did not make me feel like I had to and pushed me even harder even after I said no thank you 3x. After 4 years of membership, we tried to cancel 3 separate times to be told a manager was the only one who can process the cancellation via email. Matthew (manager) told us to call back if we had any issues with the email. I called back and was greeted with a condescending tone, and extremely unprofessional dialogue. I've been a member of massage envy for YEARS and I was so happy with them until it came to cancelling. Due to increased expenses, I decided to cancel my membership with them. I reached out on 6/25 about this. They said I had to pay the current month - fine. So I did. I was told that they would email the cancellation form and a manager would reach out within 48 hours. That did not happen. I reached out again on the 28th, no answer. I reached out again on 7/3, they only answered about the form, stating that they sent it on the 25th but will resend it if "I can't seem to locate it". It was not sent, I checked everywhere. I still have not received it. I had to ask AGAIN about management reaching out and they finally said the manager would reach out today (7/3). NADA. Mind you I tried calling a couple times too and they never answered. So I called again 7/4 and left a voicemail since they are closed, along with two texts stating that I need this form and to have a manager call me first thing. I will update this post once I have more information, but please save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere!!! read more

For a birthday gift, I purchased my GF a facial and massage. Here's a breakdown of hers/my experience: Kelly the sales associate, terrible. She was overly pushy, rude to the massage therapist, tried to overcharge us by $40 for the service, kept confusing the service scheduled, etc. There are so many better employees / associates. Work with someone else if you can. As for the aesthetician and massage therapist, fantastic. Carrie was knowledgeable and informative. She was kind and pleasant. The masseuse Nysia(sp?) she was fantastic. My GF said she was very happy with them and would go back again. Tip: avoid Kelly. read more

If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. I went for a massage during the night and the staff was so rude to me. I was the only person in the lobby and they ignored me until my masseuse came out. They did not even want to check me in. I also had to ask to get checked out because they kept ignoring me even though no one else was in the lobby but me. I believe one of the people in the front was the manager, which was even worse. I also had a horrible massage to make it worse. The masseuse was nice but that did not make up for the massage or the terrible service in the front. Since moving to Tucson from Scottsdale, I have had a hard time finding a good location for my massages. After a long work week I was definitely feeling the pain in my neck and back. I was super pleased to see I could not only book an appointment online, but also customize the experience if I wished. I made the appointment this morning for an 8:30pm appointment tonight. I absolutely love that I can get a massage so late and feel relaxed right before bedtime. The lady who checked me in was super kind and friendly (a rarity here in Tucson). Alfonso, my massage therapist, greeted me right on time and intently listened when I explained my areas of concern. His massage was absolutely PERFECT! I'm pleased to say I have finally found the Massage Envy in Tucson that is right for me. I highly recommend this location and Alfonso for massages and some relaxation time. read more

Went in to get a massage on my lower back and to help relieve some pain from my sciatic nerves just before going on a big trip. They set me up with this guy who informed me that he graduated high school in 2012. So literally just came out of college. This guy worked on my upper back instead of working close towards where the sciatic nerve would be. I made sure to drink plenty of water afterwards, nearly half a gallon of water. Later that night I went to bed feeling sore and woke up the next morning feeling a lot of pain. So much where if someone touched my back or gave me a light hug it hurts like crazy. I looked at my back noticing bruises and my father informed me to head to urgent care. Be careful with who you get. read more

Manipulative and unethical member cancelation policy. I tried to cancel my membership. I visited the River Road location in person and the woman at the front desk told me that the only person who deals with membership cancelations is the manager and that the manager was out. She told me that she would let him know that I stopped by and wanted to cancel. And what happens is that he will then contact me off of his "list of customers in the next week or two" by email or phone to send me the form I need to fill out to cancel. Then after they receive the form the manager has to fill out the form, and send it into corporate and it would be 10 days after corporate receives it that my membership would be canceled. I asked for the manager's name: Gerald. She did not give me his email or other contact info for him directly. How do I know that I didn't waste my time coming over if there is nothing but her word that she would tell him that I wanted to cancel? I just walk away without any documentation that I requested to cancel? I am unreachable by phone most days unless it is after 10pm or certain weekend mornings due to the nature of my work and my children. Would we play phone tag for months while massage envy keeps charging me per month? I told her I did not have time and she replied sarcastically "you don't have time to take a phone call?" I actually really don't and anyone who needs to reach me makes phone call appointments with me. I don't need bad customer service when canceling. I am canceling my membership because I have 8 credits left and have not had a massage in 8 months despite paying for 8 massages. If I am so busy at work that I don't have time to schedule a massage I have already paid for for 8 months in a row what makes you think I have time to randomly pick up phone calls during the day? After more discussion where I brought up my sister's lawsuit against massage envy she called the manager on his cell phone, then went over to a desk 2 feet away and pulled out a folder which had a bunch of cancelation forms in it and handed it to me. I filled it out and am still waiting for the manager to contact me. We will see how many days it takes for the manager to complete the form and send it to corporate. Clearly corporate has a policy that rewards memberships at each particular locations and the manager is doing whatever he can to make it as difficult as possible for customers to cancel their memberships at his location on river road to the detriment of his customers. I had previously planned to renew my membership in a couple years when I am less busy but this experience has made me realize that they are only nice to you when you are paying for their services. Super mean and cold to you when they realize you want to cancel and who knows how many pay cycles it will still take them to cancel my policy? read more

I hate finding a new massage therapist, but mine just left and I figured I would try this Massage Envy now, because it was closer to home. I had a long conversation with the very friendly receptionist and she gave me a list of people to try. I booked with one, they called to confirm the day before and I showed up 30 minutes early. Five minutes after my scheduled appointment time a therapist came out to tell me she was ready. It was at that time that I learned that, not only had they switched therapists on me, but it wasn't even someone else that was on the list to try! I figured, I don't know anyone here, I'll try it. Well, the best part of the massage was that she ended it 3 or 4 minutes before it was supposed to end! And if the clinic has a lotion shortage, I know why! Not happy with the service. Barbara is absolutely fantastic and I signed up just because of her. I got, hands down, the best massage I've ever received. I will admit I was not a happy camper when I first walked in. I was in severe pain, carrying all of my stress in my neck and shoulders. I was thrilled that I got in on short notice, same day. When I got there and filled out my paperwork is super perky front desk girl ask about 9 million questions and I was getting supremely annoyed because I don't like the telephone game and I would rather just have the conversation with the massage therapist. She could tell I was annoyed so she backed off so good for her. I didn't have to wait long to be seen and like I said, Barbara was absolutely fantastic. I feel like I am walking out of there a new person. The fluidity in her motion was just amazing. She is really really good and if she quits then I will be screwed because I'm stuck with a one-year membership but if I get to see her once a month for the next year I'm pretty sure that my back will never be in pain. read more

I went here for my birthday and I got a back facial believe it or not I was not impressed for the fact that they can't do certain things based off the company such as extracting pimples. Overall I did end up getting a massage as well and the lady at the front desk really sold but I got a deep pressure one however it was way too deep and my back ended up hurting at the end of the session I am really not impressed with this place nor the Massage Envy franchise. But they don't tell you that even though you get a 60 Minute massage that ends up being more like a 50 minute because they take 10 minutes away I just don't like all the scams. read more

I booked the appt for an hour massage and half an hour facial and booked them well in advance and yet they kept having to cancel on me. The receptionist was courteous and tried to make me feel welcome despite the intrusive, excessive paperwork required by Massage Envy. But what ruined an otherwise pleasant experience for me was the obnoxious, insensitive sales assistant who caught me off guard as I was exiting and subjected me to a scripted hard sell. My wife and I have both had accounts at Massage Envy (River Rd. West and Oracle Rd.) for many years. Around 2018 services began to deteriorate. While the therapists were still great, the corporate culture began overtaking customer service and customer concerns. We began to have repeated problems. Finally, with the Covid-19 pandemic hit, we both tried to cancel our membership, but we found it nearly impossible to do so. We got nothing but the run-around, and were told repeatedly that one cannot cancel without going into the spa and speaking with the manager--the last thing we wanted to do during the pandemic! The months rolled by without resolution, and we kept being charged on our credit cards. I finally got very angry and rude and they canceled mine (although I'd wasted around 4 months of monthly payments, which they would not return). My wife finally gave up and we filed a dispute with our Visa bankcard company (she racked up over 6 months charges since she began trying to cancel her membership). I called and made an appointment at this location. I specifically requested a therapist that can do deep pressure. The appointment setter assured me that this therapist is wonderful. Before the appointment, I received a phone call and text to confirm. I filled out the questionnaire on the text link provided. Once, I arrived at the parking lot, sent text that was told I can come in. Madison, the receptionist walked me through another questionnaire on the tablet. My therapist took me to the room, and she learned the areas that she needs to work on. Started with face up, and she started on my shoulder, pressure is very light, like someone is playing the piano. I was not happy about it, perhaps it's her technique. I let her continue. Turned over and started on my calf and the pressure is still very light. I asked and she stated that she is a medium pressure therapist. I let her finished my massage. I brought this to Madison's attention, and she offered to apply the massage gun on my next appointment. I paid for an hour of deep pressure massage and what I received was a light pressure massage. Madison told me that she will make her manager aware of the situation. It has been over six days, no call from the manager. I also filled out the survey online over three days ago, and no one made any contact at all. I believe that the appointment setters are under pressure to book every an appointment on every call that inquires. It was my worst massage experience in over 30 years.
