A list of detailed instructions is sent to you before your first float. The tank water is warm, so you don't notice it as your floating; it was a bit humid feeling at first which took some taking used to but after that it was extremely relaxing floating in the tank and having time to meditate. I imagine if you haven't meditated before, it may be more difficult to enjoy the experience, so I'd recommend doing some practice meditations before.

I finally start, get in and immediately begin burning severely, my skin. 3 minutes later I get out call her and say I'm so sorry but this is not working out for me, I get out shower off extremely fast and come out, my skin was RED and an immediate rash started, I try to dry off and it was literally like drying off with linen, you couldn't dry off if you tried, she sits there and explains she cannot just not charge me, she could do my float for 45$ and then refund me my 95$ in a couple weeks if I wanted to try again. I said okay I'll be in touch, so I message her and say my rash has not gotten better and theirs no way I'm getting back in that tub, so she said well I can't refund you, you used my towels and up an 1h 1/2 of my time, (I literally took up maybe 7 minutes total of her time of my appointment) the rest was her blabbing about her life. Which fine but extremely unprofessional, then she goes back on everything she said to me. That's where I'm upset. Don't say something and change your mind a few weeks later. When you asked me to text you an update then, and I do. Now she says well my house is out of order anyway for 4 months. The whole thing is scammy, and I would never recommend this place. Her dog barked the entire time, nothing about this place is calming or nervous system. I don't leave reviews unless something is super bad, I would never recommend this place.

The technician made sure I was at ease since it was my first time having acupuncture and it eased my pain on a short term basis so it's recommend to have several sessions. I'm not a fan of needles so as long as I close my eyes during the procedure, I did well. A couple of pin pricks here and there, no bruising and I felt immediate relief. The session lasts an hour and it's recommended to have a full stomach prior to your appointment. The best part is veterans are fully covered for 12 sessions as long as they received an approved referral from your respective VA. The only downside is the referral sessions are only valid for 60 days, so depending if you need additional sessions after the 60 days to contact your primary care provider at the VA to request another referral. Other than that, there's ample parking. The place is wheelchair accessible, just park on the back for easy access. Highly recommend especially if you're looking for a holistic way to pain management.

In response to my review, Jennifer Parks of Jade Star writes, "we believe this review may not be…read morefrom an actual patient of our clinic." Let it sink in. They waited more than a year to respond to my review, and at this point, they can't figure out who I am, so they are essentially accusing me of deceit. Jennifer Parks is so dense that she can't comprehend how normal and unremarkable it might be for a woman to be known by more than one name, and to use one of her names for her banking and another of her names for social media. It's a completely legitimate thing that women do all the time. What, does Jennifer Parks want women to bring their birth certificates and their wedding certificates and other documentation to prove who they are before she will accept a yelp review of her business as valid, like Republicans want women to do before they can vote? After all, one of your practitioners goes by both Lily and Susan. Does that mean she's not an actual staff member of Jade Star Acupuncture? Why and how would I make up the sorts of details provided in my 2024 review? Was it or was it not standard practice in the first half of 2024 for your practitioners to step out of the room at the beginning of session, to give the patient a few moments of privacy to disrobe as necessary and get settled on the table? Have you asked all the practitioners who worked for you in the first half of 2024 if they ever demanded that a client put her hair in a ponytail before she would provide a treatment? Think about what this says about Jade Star Acupuncture, about their recording keeping, about their attention to client feedback, and about their ethics. Jennifer Parks, shame on you for trying to weasel out of my thoroughly honest and legitimate review of your crappy business. Unless you're willing to return a significant portion of the $812 total I paid you for my initial session and 11 sessions thereafter, I have no interest in contacting you.

I emailed via her website and received no response. I called and left a message. A few days later I received an email (I had asked her to email, not call back). Once we made contact, scheduling was easy. The massage itself was excellent for an all-over relaxing massage. Valerie did a great job on my neck and hands, utilizing some great stretches. The reason I knocked down a couple of stars is that when she asked what I wanted from the session I specifically mentioned that my hips are my problem area and that is where I wanted the focus. I also wrote on the intake form that my hips were my focus area. I mentioned that I wanted deep pressure. Maybe I wasn't clear about my desires for the massage: to work out problem areas and relieve pain. I felt she could have asked some follow up questions to make sure we were on the same page (I thought we were). I was enjoying the massage, looking forward to my hips being worked on until she abruptly said, "I'm done" and walked out. I was stunned. She hadn't even touched my hips. She had barely touched my lower back, or my thighs. With the exception of my neck, all of my problem areas were ignored. I think Valerie is an exceptional massage therapist, but a poor communicator. Lastly, the location on Wilmot is hard to find. I was 5 minutes late, filled out paperwork and undressed before we started. It appears she starts the clock at your appointment time. She stopped exactly 90 minutes after my appointment time, which means I only received (guessing) a 65-75 minute massage, since part of the time was spent filling out paperwork and waiting for her to come in after I undressed.

I have to walk around the building and find a staircase to get up to the second floor. A minor inconvenience. Second, the door was locked and the lights were turned off during business hours. I knock on the door for 4 or 5 minutes before an old man with a paint brush and a confused look answers the door. I inform him that I have a massage scheduled for 4:15. He meanders on back and comes out and says no one is answering their door. Third, he informs me that I need to call my massage therapist, Valerie. Why the people working there cannot call is beyond me. So I call Valerie. No answer. I inform the old man that there's no answer. He tells me, "Well, I don't know what to tell you." I ask the old man to get somebody in back. He walks back and after a couple minutes, comes out with another lady. She proceeds to tell me that my massage therapist is not there. She informs me that I can sit down and wait for her. I leave. Last, and my favorite part, was the phone call I got at 4:45 from Valerie. Valerie opens with "This number called me." I said, "Yes I had an appointment scheduled with you at 4:15." Valerie sharply snaps back and say, "Well my paper says 6:15!" I tell Valerie that I'm looking at the confirmation right now, and it's says 4:15. Valerie comes back with, "Well my paper says 6:15!." I tell her that I guess it's not gonna workout then, and hang up the phone. Worst customer experience I've ever had. I would discourage anyone who has thought of using this place from buying their services.

I gave them a call at 11:45 AM and gave them a time for 12:15 PM. They don't really have a computerized system for reservations so it's not really a place to set up a time for X next week. I like last minute so it works for me. I arrived and chose a 60-minute massage. There's just a board with times and that's about it. I get taken back into a room (there are doors now) and was asked to get ready. There really is no discussion about the type of massage you want. You have to be proactive. I had lower back pain so I told her that. I just wanted neck, back, and shoulders so I mentioned that as well. When she got to my sore spots, I told her to stay there for a few minutes and press hard and she did. Felt really good overall and really helped my back pain. The massage ended with hot stones which was a nice touch. So again....not a place where you're going to have a discussion about overall massage. Just tell them to focus on certain areas and tell them harder or softer. They have good techniques, lots of elbows and palms if you like deep tissue. I added a $10 tip so it was $70 out the door for a massage style I like that hit my problem areas. Set proper expectations for this place and you'll be happy with the massage and value. Clean overall but not fancy by any stretch of the imagination.
